Also, always rotate your images where applicable and consider resizing.

Let's be honest. You'll probably be shittalked by shitposters, but also most people who post here don't paint either. There's nothing wrong in and of itself not painting a kit. It's not ideal, but Gundam kits are luckily EZ mode enough to still look pretty good unpainted, especially MGs. Just be sure to do a good job at de-nubbing.

I'm too fucking scared to use a hobby knife. The decal actually broke into multiple parts but I managed to stitch them back together on the application area save this last piece that has the end of the decal stuck on the other side.

Jesus christ, this is why I was wary when I found out this shit uses waterslide decals.

Look at it this way: right now that sticker is fucked. If you cut it with the knife it is still fucked, you've lost nothing. You can try two pairs of tweezers or something if you want, but ultimately you will need to manually separate those.

I've found with water slides that in order to not do things like this I have to keep my dunk time short and then be sure they go straight from the paper to the figure, no gaps allowed.

It's funny, I opened and examined my first two kits I built - a Kampfer and Gouf Custom, and from the looks of it I could clean the nubs that were left from using a combination of emery board, nail clipper and a large side cutter. Might clean them up and post them, since they are near and dear to my heart. Sorry for rambling, super tired.

Always invest in a pair of nippers. The worst part was that the nail clippers i used werent used so the nub marks on my mg exia got a yellowish tint over time. I started taking it apart for cleaning and so far sanding+a cloth dab of thinner seems to be doing the trick. Thank god it was a straight build.

With the face, handbrushing is the way to go (with a very thin brush is preferable). I painted mine's using a toothpick because my brushes were too wide for the eye and orange sections. I also used a needle to gently dab a line of orange for the orange cheek vents. I used the same method in the past when painting the flag eye cameras on my masurao.

The LMHG 007's just the EVA-01 that comes with the stand, right? Search for ED-01 decals by Bandai; they're supposed to be for the LMHG 001, but assuming that the decals are the same then it should work.

Finished painting my first Gundam! Pretty pleased with it! I suspect that it'll actually take less time to do an HG kit, since this one required so much hand painting and masking. I also feel a lot mkre comfortable with my airbrush. I definitely wouldn't have to worry about making as many rookie mistakes.

Whelp, I accidentally dropped the arm of my Unit-01 and this happened.

As you can see, part of the cap of the balljoint has broken. It's currently holding together using Tamiya cement but I don't know if it can withstand the pressure of a hand rentering it.

What should I do? Will this glue be strong enough or should I try another brand?

Recast the entire arm. The rubber coating makes the articulation worthless anyway.

Also the rubber coating on my two units doesn't affect the articulation that much, other than making the elbows a tad troublesome to pose sometimes.

It will in due time. The joints will loosen up inside the arm and it will be impossible to keep the arm in a bent position because the rubber will just spring them right back. This has happened on all of my LMHG kits.

The rubber will also eventually crack, so there's that too.

Still, it's fun to build them and moderately enjoyable to paint them. It's when shit like this happens that turns me away from Plamo in general.

Panel lining my first real kit, bit scared with the results in that I don't really feel confident when I apply and scrub, I just keep going to see how faded/cleaned up I can get it and leave it at that. Does it look ok? The one thing that bothers me is the circle/triangle type indents that just seem to get filled in and be this black smudge on the kit.

I lost the beak for the zaku but I finished up panel lining. It might be my awful Samsung Galaxy S4 camera, but it looks bad to me. But going from mostly HG's to a RG after a year of downtime was awful. Those little tube rings were a nightmare and getting some of those pieces in were terrible. Not too happy with the panel line job either. Used grey for the light pieces nad black for the darks but after q-tipping it comes out faded or not looking too sharp. Might use enamel liner instead of marker next time.

I've been lurking/posting in these threads since this board first started. That's a lot of years.

I owe my renewed interest in model kits, and gundam, and collecting in general to this thread and the people in it.

I joined the group build last month, and though I'm sure in any other group, I'd have gotten stomped, I managed to win!

Any model kit can potentially break when shifted around especially with little moving arms and shit, they're model kits, not toys anon, toys are designed with durability in mind, adult toys even use diecast to minimize that from happening and even that shit can break if you ham hand it.

Just take the best kits you can and put the models down slowly...its the only way to appreciate their forms unless you just buy one of each mode

I am using acrylics. So when I mix them should I put thinner/water into the container? Or mix thinner in when I intend to use it? Also if I am to put thinner in the container how should I keep it thinned so to speak? Assuming some of the water will evaporate.

Manga turned out to be pure shit. Like this isn't even a shitpost, the manga is just bad. Unlikeable and unrelatable main characters, the art and paneling makes action scenes confusing and hard to follow, and the plot is boring.
