New to Polynian's and I was wondering why so many people sleep on the Grey Shamrock when it looks better than the original? Is it just because it's easier to obtain or am I missing something

Some people don't agree it looks better, some people got the original and don't want a recolor, some people prefer the white parts for part swapping since the others besides gray Clover are white. There's also the issue of QC problems with Yume and Mel turning people off from getting more of this line at all.

Part of the disdain for the Greys is that they can't partswap with the other white polynians like Yume and Mel (and soon Emil). Anything besides that is probably aesthetics. I own grey versions of Clover and Shamrock and i like them more than the original whites, to be honest (don't own the whites, though). I like androids to have some form of coloration, personally. Got my Aigis today, I was originally undecided on her because I already got a figma and the chogokin, but I really can't have too many Aigises and those prices on Mandarake were too good to pass up.

btw she's totally worth the 2500 yen I paid, especially since she comes with conversion parts to her P4A design.

she's about 6.5 inches tall, so yeahs she's huge.

Figmas got a more screen-accurate design, though I don't knock that against the Daibadi, since she's got a unique style to her.

I really love the swappable parts, also a huge part of why I adore the Chogokin (besides the diecast), which can swap from normal to The Answer design.

Daibadi's got some cons though. No swappable faces, I wish there was more than three sets of hands (fists, shooting, fingers spread open) and she can't stand on her own (the figma has tiny transparent heels to attach to her feet).

P.S. the effect parts are great, more toys need cool effects.

If you really do get that Shamrock it's entirely on you, especially considering Daibadi has said they'd consider reprints of white Shamrock and Clover in the future- though we don't know how far into the future this'd be.

That ropes a little too big, i'd suggest unravelling it and twisting a few strands into a smaller rope. You'll find it very difficult to make it looks nice and actually make the knots with it being so thick on such a tiny figure.

What the other anon didn't mention is that everything about her is loose. Her joints like to come apart. The pegs for her hips/ thighs are loose. Qc issues aside, my big gist gripe is her face. So yeah if people want them the goal is to sell them. Properly finishing the parts and casting them would be ideal but expensive. I would be down for doing the mold making and casting work my self but even the cost of the materials are out side of my means right now.

I think I will be able to get her out there relatively cheaply if I just offer the unfinished 3d printed parts. Its certainly not the right way to do things, on a whole less people would put in fewer man hours if the kit was cast, but if folks can tolerate the rough aesthetic or are willing to do more finish work them selves then its cheaper.

Daibadi supposedly fixed the awful QC issues that plagued the first release. Yellowing, loose joints, etcetera. The paint change is probably so the original can 'retain its value" or some shit like that.

Got Yume on the first release and was kinda disappointed. Her articulation is... weird and all her shit is too lose and falls off in a slight breeze.
For the amount I paid for her, I just stuck her into one of the box poses and left it at that.

Well, 3P TF's are usually pretty pricey. Even the smallest figures tend to run $40+. But honestly, Shamrock was pretty close in price to the 3P TF in that pic when I picked him up.

It was the suggestion of someone in the thread to use a mechanical pencil for it. Turns out it works like a charm for the grey ones. Pretty idiot proof too. And cleans up very easy, took nothing more than a drop of water and a paper towel to clean up any errant scrawlings.

I want more Polys but I'm primarily a TF guy and thats been eating my monthly fun budget up the past few months as theres been a ton of expensive, but good 3P releases and some good regular ones too. Really kind of hoping we get some white re-releases as well. I totally would've gotten the white ones if they were available for non-insane prices.

here are the new bots lined up with the old yume on the right. and RIGHT off the bat you can tell the difference.. you can see the yume on the left has her mouth opened looking kind of embarrassed. i think daibadi did this because he knew they were releasing a shoddy product. it's like a japanese honor thing. but instead of committing supeuku mr daibadi decided to display his shame on yumes face.

and here are the difference in hair color that he promised. also be mindful of the new skirt because daibadi colored it in with crayon and itll rub off on yumes belly. i managed to remove the marks but then i mixed up the old (good) skirt with the new (crayon) skirt. i just threw both skirts away. the whole point of the skirt was to take it off as soon as you opened the box. like as if you were taking off a real girls skirt. i wonder what that feels like

My Emil arrived today - my first Polynian! I'm really happy with it, so cute. Hoping there's another design that I like soon to keep him company - Lucio is adorable, but I'll need to see what he looks like in plastic. Definitely a fan of the line now!

With Yume on her way to my place, I think I'll hold off on buying any more than I have until Vania and Reimu are up for pre-order. I've had grey Shamrock for a while now, and just finally got my hands on a pink re-issue Shammy, so I'm satisfied for now.

Should I grab a gray Shamrock or an Emir while they're still around? I can get both at roughly the same price right now.

I remember seeing these. Really dug those "puppy ears". But between Emil and Shammy I would go for Emil. Not only does he have more accessories like how that other anon said but I feel like he would made a better friend for her, both being the new "clothed" Polys.
