Where to buy
>GSC Online Shop - some figmas only are available through their online shop
>Amiami - usual place for buying, to some people, shipping is a bit higher due to packaging
>Hobby Link Japan shipping is usual lower, but their prices are a bit higher, private warehaouse is available
>Hobby Search Japan - items stay in stock the longest
>Mandarake - search figma or フィグマ
>eBay/Amazon - only if you hate having too much money. Avoid bootlegs, you can spot them as 'Chinese version'
>http://jungle-scs.co.jp/ - Seems like you can fine some good deals here
>Check the BST threads, My Figure Collection for any offer/deal

The S shape is always good advice though. The basic idea is that straight lines tend to look stiff.

>how often should you air out stored figmas due to plasticizer leeching?
Technically they are always leaking from the day they are made. Realistically it's not a big deal unless you subject it to heat, humidity and UV. Something sealed would most likely be no different than something opened even after 5+ years. If it was going to fall apart it'd do it no matter what like some RAH (ankles crumbling), Hot Toys (rubbers tearing/melting and paints flaking off, fading or discoloring) and figures suffering from gold plastic syndrome to name a few. There are a few SHF like Ryuki who have red plastics that like to fade whether in the box or not.

In my own personal experience there are statues I bought that were sealed and released 3-5 years prior that showed no signs of any gummy/sticky residue and I can't even vouch for the storage conditions they were in. Some figures will have more problems than others so don't get too stressed over it. Open them every 6-12 months if you are worried and just don't store them in air tight plastic bins since it can cause mold/moisture damage if moisture got trapped in there.

has anyone living in tropical swamp areas actually had plasticizer leak be a problem on even the oldest of figmas?

For me, plasticizer leaking usually affects clear effect parts or soft plastics.
Only figures I've had problems with are MP 1 Optimus Primes Energon axe. Medicom Astroboy's booster effect parts, and Toxic Crusaders windsail vehicle, the rubbery sail.
>>
>>6010166

>>
>>6010603
Think there is a few really old figma that have had issues for people who had them in high heat environments and kept them sealed. Generally speaking it's pretty rare. You definitely don't hear about people complaining about it like with those few famous Revoltech (Lazengann) that got sticky fast. Not all Revoltech get sticky either though.

So like I said, it's totally random. If a figure is going to have problems there is little you can do to prevent it even under the best conditions. Obviously it's not ideal to subject figures to shit conditions though because it accelerates any kind of problems that might be lurking.

Her dress would've been nice for variety and while simpler it's really more unique for Takao. At least I'll get glasses for use on others, like for Shielder's casual look!

Speaking of her, apparently precious eggplant kouhai is one of TOM's most popular figures of 2016! That's great news!

Aha, no. They actually have a Thanksgiving event on right now with 20% cash-back for their most popular of 2016. Here's the event page: https://otakumode.com/shop/pickup/thanksgiving2016

So happy I helped to make her part of that list. Shields are my creative fetish. Oh and if you're doing a big order you can use PMOct for 10% off.

>>6011196
Gilgamesh, Shielder, Ukyo Cheer Miku and Link. Would have Arpeggio's Haruna on that list, but I want to grab her P.O. bonus from Mandarake. The same is likely with Takao.

Still on the fence about Saber 2.0 since I would prefer to make the white portion of her dress full using cloth and such. The segmented look is good (I do like how it shows of her pants), but I can't pull off those awesome shots where her dress "blossoms".

Reading Heaven's Feel is starting to make me not care either way since I'm really coming to love her character, even though it's not "her route".

Doesn't your computer get at least a little warm? I'd think that exposing them to heat and then letting them cool down constantly can't be good for your toys.
>>
>>6011950
well shit, I will keep that in mind. The main source of heat from my computer CPU would be it's graphics card that goes up to about 75 degree celsius when gaming. Luckily, the graphics card is located at the lowest part of the case. I think only a small amount of heat will reach the top part, but thanks for the precaution.

I wouldn't put them there. I was worried about heat from my PC damaging toys I had stored in boxes that were like a foot away and foot forward from the back of the case. So I measured the temperature difference and during long gaming sessions it rose by about 2-6 degrees depending on if my air conditioning was running to battle it.

Not a big issue for me since it's packed in the original boxes and then inside a shipping box, so lots of insulation. But for toys out in the open air it's going to be constant heating/cooling which is not good for the paint at the very least. Who knows what it'd do to the plastic over time. You'd also have to worry about the dryness of the air vs the humidity of the ambient air.

Keep in mind my temps were a foot to the side and a foot forward. The temps at the very back of the case were much more severe. An average of about 6-10 degrees higher at the very top of the case about a foot over the case where I set down the thermometer.

A real pity, I for one loved the designs that came from it. I'm just glad we got all the Otherself characters done. Still, the original BRS Figma has aged pretty well so it's not like she especially needs a 2.0 (as nice as it would be).

Anyone know why the hell amiami hasn't sent out payment requests for the little armory preorder?

search for her in amiami for her original price, then go for mandarake for their price.

with those try to get an estimate of how much she could be, and ask yourself if that price is worth it

So I bought a Figma from amiami and for the first time ever for me, it got stuck in Los Angeles' customs. I know it's early to be jumping at a refund, but I just wanna cover my bases just in case.

If it doesn't arrive in say, another week or so, can I get a refund through paypal? Or should I contact AmiAmi themselves to prevent a ban? I used Air small Packet.

Why exactly do you think you deserve a refund? Your package is in the mail. You have tracking. You know where it is. Amiami and Paypal will deny a refund on those grounds alone. It's not lost. It's just delayed. Have some patience.
>>
>>6014375
My last order got stuck in Los Angeles's customs for about 3 weeks so I suggest that you wait. Refund period for Paypal is up to 180 from the time you paid your item, thats plenty of time to ask for a refund just in case something bad happens.

I feel Void will sell well enough now and at least retain his price in the future. Sure plenty of figma sticklers will point out that Void is more like a pose-able statue compared to other figmas, but I believe he will gain in value or at least retain because of these reasons:

>Size
>Detail

I feel like an idiot guys. I got my girlfriend a Figma from Amazon a month ago, she left it out on a table today and I was looking at it close, it's a fucking a knockoff.

I sent an email to the seller on Amazon, but is it too late for a refund? I ordered it september 22nd..... it was from a US Seller too so I figured a bootleg would be not a thing.

It's a SS Link and his knee joints aren't flush to the thighs, his hands have fucked up plastic tabs where the pin goes through the joint. His neck is wobbly as fuck, can't stand straight to save his life, and to be honest I'm fucking embarrassed I got it for her.
>>

>So you did ham hand it.

What would not be ham handing it?

>Ordered another and going to return the broken one; is this a common figma problem or did i get particularly unlucky?
Tends to happen to older figures if you're not careful enough and how some of the engineering isn't as good as today's standards. It's not like it's something you should always expect, rather you should exercise caution when handling older Figma due to their age.

>Ordered another and going to return the broken one; is this a common figma problem or did i get particularly unlucky?
Some of the older figma didn't have the best QC in the world. For example:
-Saber (1st release) had a well known issue with a specific hand that caused people to break the ball at the wrist joint. They later quit using these ball joints and switch to a straight peg.
-Drossel (1st release) had an issue where her shoulder joints were half-torn at the factory during assembly. Either broke on arrival or broke when you tried to move it.
-Saber Alter had an issue with her shoulder joints as well, obscenely tight and caused people to crack it/tear it.
-Figma BRS (OVA version) broke at the clear plastic waist joint when people pulled it apart to remove the plastic sheet intact.
-Figma Strength (OVA version) arms would break due to weight/torque caused by big ass hands, finger joints on big hands also broke.

I could go on but my point is Max Factory has really stepped up it's game lately. You pretty much never hear about anyone breaking figma anymore unless it takes a shelf dive or they flat out ham hand the shit out of them. A few semi-recent examples being Skyward Sword Link (they glued the first issue release sword hilts on and people tried to remove it by force, later re-releases didn't glue it) and Figma Archer (people ham handed him while trying to get him to hold his bow because it's a tight fit)
>>
>>6015172
>-Figma BRS (OVA version) broke at the clear plastic waist joint when people pulled it apart to remove the plastic sheet intact.

That's not a QC problem, more like a problem of people being retarded. You need to be a hamhands to pull something until the point it breaks, people with common sense would stop trying before that happenes. And those plastic sheets are made to be teared, it's faster and easier than dissassembling the figure.

I own a shitton of old and new figmas, and the difference in quality isn't as big as some people believe. In general they have been improving as far as articulation and sculpt goes, but most figmas from the beggining of the line are still nice figures by today's standards. The ball pegs on the wrist were a pain, but that's it.

It is a QC problem when it's the only figure that had a large number of breakages and people were pulling apart other figma without any problems. They also quit using the clear joint at the waist after BRS so clearly it was a problem. People want to keep the plastic sheet intact to store the figure and not have to worry about staining which you WILL get if that plastic is not there.
>>
>>6015193
>It is a QC problem when it's the only figure that had a large number of breakages and people were pulling apart other figma without any problems

Wrong. Figmas aren't made with the idea that they should be able to be pulled apart at the waist. You can do it on most of them no problem thanks to how the joints work, but it isn't a rule. If a figure can't do something that it's supposed to do, that's a QC issue. This is not the case.

>People want to keep the plastic sheet intact to store the figure and not have to worry about staining which you WILL get if that plastic is not there.

You're grasping at straws here, most people don't care about that. And even if you care, you can just use any other plastic sheet, and that's only if the figure can separate (BRS can't, so you couldn't place de sheet anyways). That's no excuse for hamhanding it.
Yeah, using clear plastic on a joint is a bad idea nonetheless, but I own two BRS OVA version and the waist joints are perfectly fine. Pleople were breaking a figure without trying to understand how it worked, and forced the fuck out of the joint without even thinking that maybe it can't be separated in this case. That's what I call being retarded and not using common sense.
>>
>>6015219
>Figmas aren't made with the idea that they should be able to be pulled apart at the waist

Unless they have extra sitting parts or something like the GuP girls, and in those cases the joint is different so it can be pulled apart easily.
>>
>>6015219
This is a dumb argument. The point is older figma had more breakage issues and QC issues than modern figma either due to mishaps at the factory, poor design choices or poor engineering. If it makes you feel better to call it poor design choices instead of a QC issue then go right ahead. Not going to get into a subjectanon argument with you over it. >If it makes you feel better to call it poor design choices instead of a QC issue then go right ahead.

>I broke the waist of a figure that shouldn't be separated at the waist! Poor design choices, bad QC!

More like hamhanded owner choices.

I could understand your point if you were trying to separate the waist of a figure INTENDED to be separated at the waist (like the GuP girls or casual Saber) and it broke, but in BRS case is just people being dumb.

>The point is older figma had more breakage issues and QC issues than modern figma

What figmas do you consider "modern"? Because if you only take into account the last 80 or so, it's obvious there's going to be more cases of QC issues between the first 220 figmas just by sheer numbers.

As far as the old wrists go I can understand your point because changing hands with the old design without straining the plastic pin was somewhat tricky to do, but even recent figmas have cases of joints breaking easily. You mentioned Drossel's shoulders, but there's a ton of reports of the original Ninja Slayer having easily breakable shoulder joints too. And that's a recent figma.

Now I'm not talking about you specifically, but I wish people stop spreading that the "QC control was way worse back then" in those threads. From my experience is completely untrue. I'm not saying they didn't improve, but some people makes this sound like the original figmas were made of glass or something. In a line with over 300 figures it's obvious some of them would be duds.

Not that anon, but I did say it's not so much that old Figma had more QC issues rather the figures being older is what makes them susceptible to breakage simply due to age and less favorable engineering (like Saber's hand pegs). For instance, it's very rare to find a Lelouch/Suzaku that still has the gold lining on their uniforms.
>>
>>6014733
Void's design was always my favorite, so I can stomach the price as long as I buy no other figures other than him and the rest.
>>
>>6015187
The clear plastic joints were a pretty well-known issue that affected multiple early Figmas, though. BRS, a bunch of the Nanoha characters, that Lucky Star girl with the pigtails, they all used clear plastic that was more brittle than its opaque counterpart for certain joints. The main reason it became such a big issue with BRS is that they assumed people would think to tear the plastic off rather than directly disassembling the figure, and people evidently didn't. Combine that with a brittle waist joint that was vulnerable to being pulled upwards, and you have a recipe for disaster. Later Figma instruction sheets were much more explicit about reminding people to tear the plastic, and they stopped using clear plastic for hair joints (instead shifting over to making the joints part of the headsculpt rather than separate pieces).

Don't forget the clear ball joint for characters with pigtails/twintails like Rin Toshaka, Fate, Kagami etc. Those are prone to break too, glad they don't use them anymore.

Also anyone here do custom figures with figmas? i just bought a Bootleg Archetype she figma off aliexpress for $13 AUD (because if i completely fuck up i dont want to have wasted $70 AUD on the real one, and then if i do good i can buy the real she figure and make a better version of my custom).
I am going to try and make my own shitty Korra figure (from avatar), i am actually going to make tiny clothes (she wears a blue singlet and blue baggy pants so they are simple clothes) because i am alight at and my sister is good at sewing and all that clothes making shit and i think we can actually make them quite well.
i can also easily do everything for painting her face and her armbands. The only thing i am not sure what to do about is her hair If anyone has done anything similar or has any suggestions i would be very greatful.

Also yes i know clothes on a tiny figure is probably going to look weird but i still want to give it a try.

Not in their own parts. Problem with the part 3 and 4 SAS is that they're older than the part 2 ones. Part 3 was when they just started, so it's like comparing the first Figma to a Figma of today. Well, those two Figma will probably be fine scale-wise, but will be different engineering-wise.

she's not a perfect figure, but call her a trainwreck is a bit too much.
The flatness of her gear and shoes can be easily corrected with a gundam marker (considering she should appeal to people who already are familiar with plastic models, it shouldn't be a problem).
For the price she also has a decent amount of accessories (just the M4A1 model kit is sold for around 1000 yen by itself).

I hope they'll be a bit more careful on the quality with the next release, but overall, I don't have much to complain about.

>-Saber Alter had an issue with her shoulder joints as well, obscenely tight and caused people to crack it/tear it.
Does the old Rin Figma have any similar problems?

I'm thinking of making another Type-Moon character out of her but I just want to know if there's anything I should watch out for if I start disassembling her parts.

I don't know what to think about this.

Saw this and a MM Link Nendo at Gamestop. It's so strange seeing figmas IRL in stores.

>It's so strange seeing Figmas IRL in stores.

Must be recent for your location then. Around my city there's a lot of comic places and one import specialty store that handles popular figmas like Link but they marked up prices from a little to quite a bit for profit (Figma MGS2 Soldier is $89.99 in every shop.)

Gamestop from what a rep told me, sort of transitioned some years ago to a weird cross of physical game/geek merch and figures on top of selling games. It was really odd to see them stock Nendoroids and PAK's now once I look back. I also hear Barnes and Noble can stock figuarts but I never found one with any merchandise in my area.

Is it a retarded idea to buy K-on figmas for little armory operations?
>>
>>6019678
I picked up a few figmas I normally wouldn't pick up as a Little Armory squad. So far pre-wrist joint Figmas are doable if you pick up the Little armory gloves (and eventual flesh colored hands) since they packed in pre-positioned pieces that allow the hands to be posed in certain angles. Though for specific gun positions I only found Rin 2.0 to actually do a decent job since the shoulders pop out quite a bit and give the space and range I need.

It's all about how you feel about the characters and the general design and if they can work with a Little Armory display. If you like the K-on girls enough to do that then go for it.

But he can buy la tacticool gloves or hands. They come with fixed balljoints. Total 1 pack of gloves is enough for 4 figmas. 2 righthanded and 2 lefthanded.
>>
I saw one or two threads ago a guide on how to fix the new archetype's neck so it can accomodate a normal figma's head
Could someone repost it?

I think you can, but the female one can't swap from the elbow joints.
>>
>>6020220
right, but the fixed balljoints are just not as good as the new style wrists, much more of a pain in the ass to swap out for different poses.

Forgive me for being slow, but are there scans for Miyo's targets so I don't have to destroy her box? Just got mine in today since Azone got me monthly delayed again.
