They are nude because most kids spill, drool, or generally rip the fabric. Most are donated either because they are damaged or just plain old. No one justs buys a barbie for the outfit to discard it the body, most extra bodies are given other outfits and resold.

I work at a thrift store, and both of these are correct reasons however we at the store also remove the clothes and sell them seperate so people can buy a naked doll and pick an outfit or two to go with it. Very lucrative.

Same here. It's especially easy to sell nude dolls off these days since everyone and their mom wants to become the next big doll customizer. I also do trades with some Etsy sellers of Barbie clothing (they get new mannequins, I get more clothes). Now, those absolutely fucked up looking Barbies at Goodwill? It's probably seen some shit. Mom and dad probably sold the clothes and donated the doll.

Both of you are correct actually, but for the most part it's old dirty dolls with pen marks on their faces, and fucked up hair that people donate.

Some good people do donate new unplayed with dolls, but since 85% of the world is just out to make a buck most who do buy dolls just for the clothing end up selling the body on ebay to make some cash rather than donate to the poor.
