They did that with the Real Grade kits of the Z'Gok. I've got a bud who was fuckin' pissed because he wanted the blue color, and he wasn't willing to shell out the money for P-Bandai.

Not sure how many people will catch this or sneak a photo, but there is a Wing Zero Snow White Metal Build in silhouete form in the special dark room where they are showing off crazy new concept ideas. It supposedly transforms too. There is also a new high end Gundam robot line that's about PG size in height that has LED and moving maintenance hatch gimmicks.

They're the same size as a regular damashii but with some added details (decals mostly) and stability because of the metal joints.

Honestly, at this scale (and price) I can't really recommend them since plastic joints usually holds together just as well and the difference in detail is negligible. I'd save my money for the 1/100 Metal Builds where you see a more dramatic difference in design.

It's important to note that there's only been one Metal Damashii released (the Hi-Nu), and that was almost two years ago (dang, can't believe it was that long ago, haha). So it's tough to give a definitive verdict on the line when there's so few releases to judge.

As anon said, the Metal Hi-Nu was basically the regular RD with added metal parts and paint/tampo detail, but it was nearly twice the MSRP at around 10,000JPY. I know there were a couple anons who bought it and as far as I can recall they were happy with it, no complaints that I recall, but there really wasn't very much discussion about it as most folks went for the standard RD Hi-Nu (which is what I did, hehe).

The second Metal Damashii is going to be Ex-S, releasing Nov. 19th. There will not be a standard RD Ex-S, so this is going to be the first real test of the Metal Damashii line on its own. It's looking pretty dang awesome though, and preorders are all sold out.

Got the Z'gok. The chest being so obviously hollow is pretty shitty, honestly. The torso does have a whole lot of moving parts but I still can't see why they couldn't have put a thin layer of plastic on the bottom of the eye track so you can't so easily see through the thing.

Otherwise its fantastic though.

the thing is solid like a rock and has better paint detail than the normal ver although it doesn't come with the connectors that let you display the fin funnels in deployed mode, which I didn't mind because I have no intention in doing so anyway

the non metal one is going for over 80USD on amazon, a used one runs about 6000Yen on Mandy but then you have to pay for shipping so the metal is not that big of a mark up

most of the die cast is on the joints and hip area from what I can see, and I mostly use it for display so no I haven't had any loosening of the joints but I haven't put a lot of use on the joints either

if you don't have the original plastic one then definitely go for the metal one, if you do then I don't think its enough difference to make a separate purchase

The fingers should be flexible and you have to kind of wiggle it in there, they shouldn't be loose if you don't stretch them out too much. You can if it has a peg and it will work, but HG stands don't make it very secure so don't be surprised if it sways left and right often

Companies that don't own their own factories basically order time slots. Yes, they're ordering a certain amount of items, but everything is pressed for time unless it's some really shitty factory. There are going to be multiple companies waiting to get their own stuff produced and the first company is going to have other stuff they want made too.

That's why most toy makers rarely reprint unless they're huge, like Bandai Hobby, which owns their own factories for making gunpla IIRC.

OH MAN. This figure is glorious! The details are great. Everything is molded very cleanly and it even has some neat little details like the winch under the crotch (I didn't take a picture, but they even molded/painted the end of the winch tucked up underneath) or the camera behind the visor.

The differences in finishes are interesting too. It's mostly gloss, but the few areas that are flat give it a nice balance. I also really like the joints, because they textured them ever so slightly.

The articulation is only a little lacking in some areas. The head and ankles seem to be the most cumbersome, but nothing too hindering. An interesting note is that the knees have a locking feature. They pop into place when they're straight, but have free motion after that. It was a little weird at first, but again, not too hindering.

Overall, it's everything I hoped for in a RD Ingram. Even the box is fancy with a matte finish all over!

Funny enough, I've only ever read the first manga and seen the first episode of the show. But I love the design of the Ingram so much that I couldn't resist. Plus, this will help me get around to watching the show.

I had a similar scenario with Dunbine, where I picked up the RD and then watched the show, only to realize I love the designs so much I bought 2 more RD's from it.

Context is supposed to be that while these are Federation MS, they're really only fielded by the Federal faction that'd go on to defect and make up the New Desides; that more or less know the operational capability and limits of these specialty MS. Which is why these poor Barzams are so utterly wiped out, when forced out against the more effective Xeku Eins... Then again this whole shit-show of a situation, is why I love this MS almost equally as much as the Leo in the AC universe hahaha!

Unfortunately, I don't own any hot wheels, and I'm not really sure how large the command car is supposed to be in relation to existing vehicles. But personally, I like the inclusion if the command car. They put a lot of detail into it as well, so it doesn't look cheap, and it's a unique one compared to the usual fare other RD's get.

I don't think there is a bunch of pvc but its the fact they're completely painted and rather sloppily. The regular releases look a lot sharper because of the molded colors. Its unfortunate the premium product looks worse but these just simply don't get the kind of paint treatment SoC and SRC's do.
