These are actually pretty fun. I'm not big into TMNT anymore, but they were one of my favorites as a kid. I also probably shouldn't have spent so much on a drop but oh well, it's not like it really hurt anything.

Unfortunately the two ports on each side of the Noboto fist don't line up straight so it looks really weird to have Donnie's staff go "through" his hand, so this has to suffice. I'm pretty happy with these overall.

The alt heads would make fun goblin heads somewhere along the line.

How would one go about increasing the fan base of a toyline like this? Online only with no media tie ins? I think cutting back on cons really hurt these guys, when the rig came out they were at toyfair and got talked about by various toy coverage places. Now they hit up half the cons they used to and glyos review spotlights are nearly nonexistant. It almost feels like they have tried to scale back more to the underground art scene, ie toys for people that make toys vs toys for everybody that really made them shine for a few years.

Refocus on a steady line-up + lore to go with it.

TMNT could have been a great idea, yet that store failure screwed them up yet again. So the line slowed down for sales.

Make the drops more focused, less "here's a bunch of random stuff." Possibly smaller drops, but go to a 12 month schedule if the build up makes it possible. Alternate lore drops with homage/new items/vinyl to start building up an audience again.

Advertise. Hit the con circuit, hit the web shows, get MTV to notice again. Geek culture is huge right now and glyos has crawled into a hole because it doesn't want to be caught being too hip. Start aiming at that designer building brick audience out there that go Lego/MB to show this can also be something to explore for their ideas.

Less colors all over the place. There used to be a decent focus that ran through the line back in the day. The Mono drop. The Avengers homage drop. The Henshin drop. Nowadays they throw out all kinds of random colors which unless you're an insider or deep into glyos, look random as fuck.

Update those websites to the modern age. They still look like designs from 10 years ago. Same with getting a better social media presence going. They half ass all of this when OT was going to vanish and then nothing since. Make a dedicated, easy to use website that shows off the various things you can build with everything. You may not need no instructions to know how to rock, but the casual does.

The outlander is definitely my favorite standalone Glyos figure. A bunch of them would all look fine together on their own just being a bunch of astronauts. Getting closer to it. Dropping a full wave with only a day's notice was stupid. Someone noted that the order numbers jumped up 50 spots in the 5 mins between their two purchases so we know people are still buying.

A second wave of 1980s homage and zero lore for anything that wasn't was a terrible plan. I'm getting close to just being Kabuto/Bio Monster only.

This is just the least interesting that mainline glyos has ever been. It took a big hit when detail lines went away, anyone that doesn't think they looked better before is honestly crazy. And now we get even less lore than before, the entire second half of this year has been a complete bust.

What's been worthwhile? The one cool figure in the past 6 months was the updated glow/clear orange Glyarmor figure which was gorgeous. The return of the OSM, arguably the best glyos compatible figures ever made. But the ninjas are a lame direction to take a space line and the goblin heads don't do much for me(although they're probably better than the other noboto head was). Other than that what have we got? A bunch of homages.

I've made peace with detail lines going the way of the dinosaur. We've now officially had more waves without them with them. And if you do build up a parts library of dozens of colors it's almost acceptable. But this newest direction, of figures that are case in one color and painted a ton but still look like lame color swaps, tons of homages.. ugh. It's just a downward spiral.

I would love to see the line turn around and find an identity again, something that isn't more and more winks and blatant copies to old toys.

I mean, jesus, does anyone else remember how badass something like Council of Travellers was? The last truly great drop IMO, last of the detail lines, tons of great color choices, and the awesome comic with the holy fuck Phanost reveal and then the toy coming with the special head. I miss old glyos.

kek I just checked the store and they slapped a bunch of low stock stickers on figures that still have numbers in the 40s and 50s. A new low. They no doubt realize that they buying trend is if there's still this many within 2 days of the drop they are fucked.

I disagree. I like to build, prefer lower prices, like occasional high paint on a figure or two per drop. Detail lines are neat occasionally, but, I would hate to see a bunch of high priced/high paint figures and too little to build with. I just hope for more cross company colorways to not only build with, but, to also team build with.

Just my personal preference.

There is not a single colorway you can make this comparison with where the detail lined figure looks worse than the naked figures. Some of the more recent high paint but no detail line figures look okay, sort of, but they are useless for building as we are literally now getting figures with painted limbs that match nothing else, so they're sold as stand alone figures with no companion pieces or accessories and no incentive to parts swap.

Also you can literally track the glyos releases as continuously growing and gaining more and more fans with each detail line drop, vinyl expansion drop, etc etc. Things were getting bigger and bigger both on the production side of things and the fan side of things. By the end of the first year of no detail lines is when the line started to hit the decline, and by the second year it went to less and smaller drops, less new molds, less less less. It seems like almost every glyos decision in the past 3 years has been a negative one, negative in the sense that even putting preference aside the line has been on the decline in terms of numbers both produced and sold, amount of fan interest, etc.

Godbeast is dropping two bio monsters and two matching mushi this friday 12/16 at 8pm cst. Looks like I won't have to wait until the presale monsters arrive to get more monsters!

The point is bundles and ONLY bundles are a shit way to offer building parts. What if I want 2 figures but 6 axis joints? Too bad, fucked. What if I want 5 figures but no axis joints? Too bad, fucked. This is just the "Safe" way to sell things because glyos has such a low shit fanbase that isn't expanding at all, so the prospect of having 20 extra sets of joints on hand is enough to mean that one of his kids won't eat that night or something.

It's a shame because the toys are cool, but their greatest strength- being a durable building toy- is cut by having such a low number of parts/colors available, and if you don't get that one color for those two days you'll never get it again. If only the line was big enough to support actual stock.

Or the opposite is true, he offers joints and figures separate and then all the builders gobble up the joints with their orders and no joints are left for others (which has happened multiple times during glyos drops for me). I personally prefer being assured I get some joints to build with each figure and because both of these sculpts are extremely buildable when I buy one of each, I have 4 sets of joints and all offerings (which is plenty for me to build cool shit with). Glyos has bundled stuff in the past as well and I prefer buying it this way. Maybe that's just me though.

I actually love bundle figures as well, but think that having ONLY bundle figures is terrible. It's so limiting. My favorite was back when stuff like the hubset first came out, they had bundle figs with some extra paint, then separate figures and separate hubsets as well. Or in one of the Hades drops they had bundle figs that were characters in specific builds and then regular figures and accessories that were just faceless grunts. That was the best.

Figures on average are now around $12, although the aftermarket is pretty shitty so you can find deals on larger lots quite easily. I've amassed thousands of glyos for 1/10th their original cost.

They are exceptionally durable, although lately there's been a trend of figures with more paint and that can scuff more easily(still tough, just easier than figures with little to no paint).

As an actual plaything they are fantastic. Building with them does take a little force, moreso than legos, so while they are just as sturdy I would wait until someone is probably 8 or 9 for it to be enjoyable.

The biggest problem would be the initial "open the package" bit. Glyos do not have packaging, just clear plastic baggies, so explaining what it is and what to do with it would be tough. Printing out a few photos online of what they are capable of and sticking it in the box would probably be your best bet.
