Review of the recently released SAS Giorno Giovanna Second: http://hyperd.blog66.fc2.com/blog-entry-2812.html
The blue tone seems darker than the master figure. Which is fine by me, like it better this way. Never liked the light cobalt blue tone of the prototype.

Is it just me or has the quality of paintwork on these figures absolutely gone down the shitter? Don't get me wrong, I love all the SAS I have but I feel like two or three years ago that would have had three or four stages of airbrush shading and highlighting on it.
>>
>>5983404
Seems that way.

Looks like a sort of sloppy custom job.

What is going on? I see you guys talking like Medicos is going bank rupt, that their toys are losing quality...
Is this really happening?
>>
>>5983534
From the last thread:
>prices going up astronomically compared to other lines
>Medicos doesn't have factory prices locked in so re-releases also more expensive
Anyone else think Medicos dying in a few years is a very real possibility? Killer Queen was originally 3,500 yen (2010) and got a re-release for 4,200 yen (2014) but is now 6,500 yen in 2016. That's a 3,000 yen increase. Meanwhile Legacy of Revoltech has only had increases in the 1,000-1,500 yen range and some of those actually get improved joints in them. Max Factory is re-releasing Saber 2.0 for her original price and Bandai is also doing re-releases for their original prices.

Medicos has basically been increasing in price nearly every single release recently as well. To give you an idea of how grim things are:
January 2014: Bruno Second = 4,200 yen
January 2015: Stone Ocean = 5,000 yen
January 2016: Pucci = 6,000 yen
June 2016: White Snake = 6,800 yen
October 2016: Rohan Ver 3 = 7,800 yen

Within a single year basic figures have went up 1,800 yen with no signs of stopping. Re-releases have been following a similar upward pattern. It's a very real possibility that by the time Gyro, RWBY, Baoh or Drifters get a release date they will be priced at 8,800-9,800 yen which I think will kill the line outright. Anyone else worried about this? I mean they can't even count on extra cash from cheaper re-releases because they can't lock in their factory prices like other companies. They are fucked and by extension we are fucked.
>>
Second's Pee? Or First's Coffee? Can't decide!
>>
>>5983608
>Max Factory is re-releasing Saber 2.0 for her original price and Bandai is also doing re-releases for their original prices.
Why are you parroting this? Max Factory/GSC and Bandai are the biggest figure companies, their costs of manufacturing are significantly cheaper than a very small company such as Medicos.
>>
>>5983622
I'm reposting from the last thread. It's not my statement since other anon's argued off his points also.

^Second not first, I fucked up.

On that note, while it does have some paint issues, it's still better than that horrible Juuzo SAS that came out a little while ago. And it looks better than the prototype which used one of the most unappealing shades imaginable.

Jolyne's release had a particular QC issue where her elbow pieces weren't fully glued or kept on so if you were to bend them fully, elbow pieces start flying.

Of ACDC and Wham, which one is more rare? I've seen both of them sold between 3000-5000 yen (buy it now prices) multiple times over the last week (Yahoo Japan, Amazon Japan, Mercari, Rakuten, Yahoo, etc), so I'm wondering if prices may have gone down for them, or the hype has died down?

Also, Pink Josuke x3 is up for grabs on Jungle for 7500 yen a piece.

>>5983820
He seems to go for 12k yen on Amazon and Yahoo Japan right now, so if you're willing to grab a middle man and pay out of your ass to get him, sure.

Otherwise, do what I did - Custom paint white Kira's hair.

>>
>>5983906

Got any pics (and or) tips in painting your white Kira's Bowie head? Been thinking of doing this but have never seen a pic of someone who's actually done the custom, just of people who've owned 1st and 2nd figures and swapped heads.
>>
>>5983926
>worse than Jotaro

Just because Japs and Animeonlys like him doesn't mean he isn't the worst
>>
>>5983908
Cheers, may grab this chance to get him now then

>>5983910
Agreed 100%, Bowie Kira would be a dream to own. I'm just personally too much of a cheapskate to pay up, so I'd rather just custom paint the cheaper white one instead. May paint his suit someday too.

>>5983949
Attached pic is the only photo I currently have on hand of my Kira, so I apologise a bit for the small size and bad quality and whatnot. Even though the hair isn't in focus, I still think it makes a hell of a difference from a far as well as close up. I'll gladly take a better photo that really shows it off, but it'll have to wait a while.
This was babbys first paint job, so I don't know if I can recommend this (I mean, it worked for me, but still) - I mixed random earthy and yellow acrylic paints together and then I drybrushed it onto his head.
Did the same with my anime-colours Caesar before I was lucky enough to find a green one. It's far from the real deal, but good enough for me at least.
>>
>>5983995
What particular paint brand did you try? Stuff like Vallejho and Citadel was recommended in the past.
>>
>>5984003
Literally just went down to the local hobby shop and picked out the first acrylic paint set I found. Am debating on whether or not I should clean the paint off of this one and try again with paint that's actually recommended for custom jobs. I think what I have now looks fine, but I can't help but wonder if it'd look even better if I used something else.
>>

Get Killer Queen while you can, I'd imagine the longer the anime runs the more people are going to want him.
>>
>>5984796
Killer Queen seeing how people are snatching him up. Not sure how often the WF variant gets bought up though.
>>
What's the story with pre-orders off amiami, I thought HS Rohan was due to be released on the 21/10 but I haven't gotten any emails or notifications off the site, and he's still listed under pre-orders. Is the site usually slow with actually releasing stuff or what?
>>
Ton of stuff went up on mandarake, including pink giorno, regular jolyne and wf jolyne, be quick if you want them
>>
>>5985104
Give it a few more days then. I've had late orders take until near the very end to actually release.
>>
>>5983995
I painted my Kira's head light brown because that's how I first imagined him when I read the manga.
>>
I got SAS Juuzou today and--

I like him. I like the sculpt, the paint isn't half as bad as it seemed to be. My only big gripe is the lacking hip articulation. I'd also wish the scale was a bit better and the scythe was less fragile, but as a whole, I really enjoy him.

I guess I'm the odd one out since there's only negative messages about the figure, but I'm quite happy with him. Could it have been better? Yes. Should it have been better for the price? Probably. I still like it a lot, and if Kaneki is anything like it, with a bit more leg articulation, I'll be happy enough.

But yeah, if you still "play" with your figures, his fragility will probably not be for you. If you simply look to pose and make him look cool: I think it suffices. You just have to handle it with some caution.

I like him quite a bit better than Tsukiyama.

Honestly I feel Medicos isn't really trying on the same level for Tokyo Ghoul. Leaving Ken out last even though he's the protagonist was the oddest thing so his final release should be interesting.

The only other series they did well was Parasyte even with the single jointed elbows and IBM from Aijin for a couple of reasons. Granted I feel those are one-shot attempts versus trying 3 characters from a series and having more to deal with for Drifters and now RWBY.

Hopefully Gyro and Baoh will be a return to form on release.
>>
>>5986292
Other than the odd colour choice. I kinda like Tsukiyama. I see what they were going for with the suit. They kinda gambled and lost though but considering how Figma does suited characters and how weak their articulation is it was an OK attempt. Still wouldn't pay more than 3k though.
>>
>>5986340
It's really kind of odd they dropped the ball so hard with him. Medicos has done a good job with some JoJo suited characters (Kira, Josuke, Bruno, Giorno) that don't have such clunky, blocky silhouettes. They were perfectly capable of making Tsukiyama look good, but I feel they cut too many corners on him. He has virtually no shading or detail on his suit.

I'm not really into TG. I watched maybe two episodes and just never really got into it, so I hope I'm getting the names right. I am curious to see what Kaneki Ken looks like in-hand. I thought the proto of him looked neat at least.

I wouldn't use that face anyway. Too edgy and just pretty shit in general. No excuse, but the normal, calm face looks great in my opinion.

And the hair seams that previously concerned me are barely visible on my copy.

>>5986560
You got the names right.

I do feel Kaneki will be fine as long as his leg articulation isn't shit. Kaneki is fairly agile, and it would suck if he were as hindered as Juuzou and Tsukiyama. The scale problem is inevitable since TG appears to be in its own scale.

>>5986292
Honestly, Tsukiyama is one of my least favorite characters so I'm not that bothered. I'm just happy I got him in sort of a good pose and will keep him in it.

Matching the white on the body may not be too bad but I'd imagine avoiding the GACT text to be a pain. From the couple of anon's who posted theirs and also mine, this is the first time I've seen that particular issue so you could be unlucky when they were applying paint or over did the text.

I have White Snake as well and he has a bit of the 5 o'clock shadow but it's not as prominent as yours and besides that my White Snake is pretty much perfect. I agree, if the pink parts of GER 2nd were more red, it'd go perfect with Giorno 2nd. Interesting that they opted for purple ladybugs on GE/GER 1st than green ones.

Still a really great looking figure, though. The texture I'd liken to that of The Hand or Stone Free SAS figures, it's a little shiny but it's subtle, rather than a deliberately shiny texture like Sticky Fingers. great sculpt work and the Giorno head is absolutely perfect, find one at 3000 JPY if you can cause it's a steal.

That Abbacchio looks amazing, the quality of it made me think it was a Statue Legend kind of figure at first!

I'm glad you enjoyed. I believe the seven I sold have all arrived.

If anyone else is interested, I still have quite a few left to sell.

The World 1st, DIO 1st, Josuke 2nd, Kars, Kakyoin, Diavolo, Part 4 Jotaro(with fugged up Part 4 Star Platinum included for free).
>>
>>5993527
how fugged up we talking here

I went to change his head out after having him in the same pose for like an entire year, and his neck ball twisted off. You can still pose him pretty well with his default head, but you can't do any crazy upside down poses. I'm sure it could be fixed, but I never looked into it.

I was really disappointed that happened, too. He was easily among the most posable and impressive SAS I've ever owned. Everything else about him is fine.

Doesn't look very poseable again.

That concludes one sloppy and lazy line of figure releases. Hopefully Drifters will be better.
>>
>>5994644
I question the upper torso movement if it's just limited to something like a swivel since there's no ab crunch. Not too sure if the hip joints allow for good range though next to way the legs bend against the shorts. At least he's better than Shuu.

Drifters should be interesting if they find a way to let the articulation pull through even with Toyohisa's armor or Yoichi's general design.
>>
>>5994689
With how the thigh-swivel part extended on the side so far up I never expected his legs to go out far, but looking at it, I don't expect them to go up much either, and all the promotional pictures aren't helping to soothe my fears.

I know Medicos hasn't always been the best in terms of articulation and engineering, but with the Tokyo Ghoul line, it seems like they're just sacrificing a lot of articulation because of stupid design choices that could've easily been better. I want his legs to be able to raise up more than 30 degrees, but I'm doubting they'll even reach the 30.

Watched two honestly pretty shitty reviews on Kaneki, and he seems to be better than the other two, but again, his fucking leg articulation is shit. Why?

I have Shinichi, who has a soft material crotch and can kick just fine. Why didn't they even bother with the Tokyo Ghoul figure? This annoys me so much.
>>
>>6002604
If Medicos really is in financial trouble like some anon's theorized then producing shitty figures with unnecessary limitations isn't a good way to get out of trouble. Tokyo Ghoul could have been a good thing for them but they phoned this shit in HARD.
>>
>>6002612
Yeah, if they figured it wouldn't sell well anyway, then skimping out on engineering like that is just going to be a self-fulfilling prophecy. Same for if they're in financial trouble. They'll just waste their time on an unnecessary sub-par figure and get less sales than they would otherwise get.

Again, aside from being pretty lacking in terms of accessories, the only problem is the legs. When I first saw the prototype, I already worried that there would probably be very little leg articulation, but like I said: I have Shinichi, so I figured they could do a soft material crotchpiece like they did with Shinichi and immediately make the articulation a lot better. They didn't, and here I'm just wondering why?

This entire Tokyo Ghoul line is just a mix of all kinds of puzzling engineering and design choices that weren't really needed at all and only, predictably, diminished the quality of the figures.

Now I'm griping anyway, would it really have hurt for them to add an extra pin for the kagune? Yes, it works for a stand, but without a stand attached, it looks just awkward and stupid.

They could've just created an extra piece of plastic without the stand extension, like with the Attack on Titan or SAO Figma and their cape and wing attachments. (I just happen to know of those two examples)

>>
>>6002701
Yes I am butthurt that the Tokyo Ghoul line seems subpar and the Drifters SAS look to be amazing.

I mean, I like Drifters, but I like Tokyo Ghoul even more, so I'm conflicted. I love that there's gonna be seemingly great Drifters figures as a Drifters fan, but hate that the Tokyo Ghoul ones got shit out to essentially milk and overcharge with pretty shitty quality and engineering.

Whatever, I guess I should move on and be happy that these will probably be great.

>>6002797

>>
>>6002756
I don't know. He looks good paint and sculpt-wise, but articulation-wise, he looks like he might be pretty restricted in the leg area also by the armor.

Which I think is a lot more heinous than with Tokyo Ghoul characters, given what he is and the mobility and agility the character possesses.

It seems like Medicos no longer believes in soft material to increase articulation.

I can see why they went back to the single jointed elbow and the armor along his waist makes it look like you cannot move it all that much or risk rubbing the leg against it.

Other than that it most posing will focus on the upper body
>>
>>6002872
Then maybe you shouldn't read it if different critical opinions of people who bought a product triggers you so.
>>
>>6002875
Does Medicos believe rubber materials for the sake of preventing inhibition of articulation is a form of heresy or something?

Frankly, it's the only thing in my opinion that keeps them below Figma and S.H. Figuarts.
>>
>>6002878
Can you stop responding to him? You're never going to win with a poster like him, and all it does is lead to the decline of the thread quality.
>>

>>
>>6002701
This looks really fucking good. If it end ups having major QC issues I'll be really disappointed
>>
>>6002890
All right, sorry.
>>
>>6002864
Nigga is you dumb? The hip joints are limited because no soft materials are used AND the design of the sculpt hinders it more than most JoJo stuff. A lot of JoJo stuff doesn't have the best sideways range either but tends to move forward pretty effectively. Kaneki can't do either. Also the knees are super limited due to poor design on their part, they could have had more articulation but they chose to limit it with sculpt.

>>6002881
They used soft parts with Shinichi. They don't use them often on most figures because it's not really necessary in most cases. It was 100% necessary on the Tokyo Ghoul figures so it's fucking retarded they didn't use them.
>>
>>6003025
I'm just saying that based on that picture, it doesn't look like it's inhibited nearly as much as reviewers (who are scared of testing the joints) might make it look. I don't have him so I don't know, but I'm just advising to not get mislead.

If you have him and you know that he's that bad, fine. It wasn't a command to not talk about stupid engineering, but more so a suggestion to not jump to conclusions.
>>
>>6002701
That looks pretty great, I'm glad Medicos can still do a good looking figure. At least I assume it'll come out that good.
>>
>>6003034
That picture is just using angles really well to cover up the limitations of the hip/knees. It's a great photograph but the problems are still there. Everything else about the figure is more or less fine but at the price point it goes for the mistakes on the hips/knees are pretty unacceptable. If it was a $40-50 figure I wouldn't be bitching.
>>
>>6003042
So do you have him in hand at the moment, out of curiosity? What are the limitations?

And I'm not a Tokyo Ghoul fan, but from a figure collecting standpoint, I agree more flexible materials should be used for this kind of articulation. Just seems like, even when working with those angles, there is still some range. It may not be great range, but it doesn't seem like it's literally atrocious.

Can you debunk that?
>>
>>6003049
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UL0WTg1Emxw

Watch for yourself, 8:48 for relevant info. This guys torso was frozen so he doesn't show it off but another review does. For this character design the range for the knees/hips is bad.
>>
>>6003083
I agree that the range is bad, but that guy seemed really, really cautious with it. The point I'm making is that I often see reviews of figures that people own that I might be interested in (or might be on their way) ,and they talk about how limited the articulation is, and then I get it and I push the joints a bit (not too hard/hamhanding it, of course) and they end up being at least a slight bit better than what was shown.

Am I the only one that would love a SAS of these two? I don't think M. Tim is gonna happen but I feel like Lucy is a real possibility. Considering there are, what, 3 stands that demand their own release? What do you think? Possible?
>>
>>6003213
Not even remotely possible. Gotta put out more Rohans.
>>
>>6003213
Depends if they want to treat Mountain Tim as an essential ally character for an SAS part release. Same case with Lucy since you can divide up to either her regular state or her holy corpse state later on for an SAS.

Part 7 is up there for essentials and side characters beyond the major 3 with their respective stands (Johnny, Gyro, Valentine) I feel Diego is an option for them but it depends if they care enough to release.
>>
>>6003268
But the nips love Dio, don't they? I'm sure we'll get Diego
>>
>>6003213
Honestly with the direction Medicos seem to be going with their releases, I feel like the time of fully fleshed out releases of a particular part are a thing of the past, and died with Part 5. Even Part 6, while fairly thorough, had some glaring omissions and felt somewhat rushed out of the gate.

At this stage I'm expecting Gyro, Johnny, Valentine, Diego, their respective stands and that's about it. Oh.. and it's going to take the next three years to see them all get released.

It depends on who you hunt down. With the current exchange rate and price increase in some spots it's not like collecting some time ago.

As for how actually fucked you are, read the OP and list down the shops. Most anon's refer to Mandy for 2nd hand sales and the buyfag guide will lead into more info on similar shops. Figinstock is a handy although sometimes slow, tool that can alert you if a certain figure popped up on your registered list on sold out spots.

Just keep a rule of thumb, 2nd and 3rd versions of SAS's never get a reissue so you're going to bite the bullet 2nd hand and sometimes pay more than its original price. There's no bootlegs so at worst you may run into a QC issue that particular figure has. Reissues have tonally different skin shading than the original runs with much lighter tones versus the darker ones Medicos ran with.

Part 4 will probably be among the trickiest to collect for a decent price if you hunt down things like Kira and Killer Queen in their variant 2nd and WF forms but Medicos reissued some quite a bit. Part 5 is surprisingly cheap overall, Part 1 should be reasonable but I haven't caught up on post release prices, Part 2 is a bit tricky but reissued Joseph is a decent start, Part 3 has showed its age but prices shouldn't set you back as bad unless that 9k SP3rd becomes a thing. Part 6 is a little recent and certain figures are a bit harder to come by on regular sites, Part 8 is super cheap since all you have are 2 characters.

Beyond that, leave the thread once you got sufficient info or else some guy will outright spoil the series in detail.
>>
>>6004017
If you pick up every last figure in the line including exclusives, but excluding the insanely gimmicky "why would anyone buy this" special ones (i.e. diamonds and clears), you'd probably average out to 3500-4000Y per figure if you shopped smart. It's not that bad if you're in it for the long haul.

But if you're gunning for only the ones with the highest level of consumer competition, yeah, you're fucked.

Thank you so much anon you were really helpful.
As of now Caesar is probably in my top priority next to Kira.
Joseph looks pretty good so that makes Caesar kind of higher in my list.
So between Caeser and Kira what is the best figure overall?
I should pick Kira right?
When you say age of the Part 3 you mean as they were the first to get produced right?
Out of curiosity why 2nd and 3rd versions never get a reissue?
You were really helpfull you don't. Thanks again
>>6004057
Caesar doesn't seem that popular it's because the colors don't match the ones in the Anime?
>>
>>6004069
>When you say age of the Part 3 you mean as they were the first to get produced right?
Yes. They were good for their time, but by every metric of today's standards they are just night and day. SAS as a line has had a pretty dodgy adherence to true scale between all releases, but the Part 3 stand users are the biggest standouts because of how tiny they are.

>so between Caesar and Kira what is the best figure overall?

Depending on what you want out of each. I found Caesar is fun to display due to the effects he has whereas Kira works if you want the articulated character himself.

Each has their own appeal and ways to display so I can't truly say which is better for you personally since everyone gets certain things out of some SAS's more than others.

>Out of curiosity why 2nd and 3rd versions never get a reissue

Medicos for all we know. Kira 1st got reissued like no tomorrow but his 2nd variant is much more desired for most people getting into this line. Same deal with Killer Queen though I heard one person mention they dig the white colorway more. I guess Medicos treats those 2nd and 3rd general releases as a sort of one-time thing whereas 1st are treated for reissues if something like an anime adaption comes up that renews interest for the line and series.
>>
>>6004069
Forgot to mention,

Caesar is sort of in an odd spot last I saw, his 2nd version is or was usually on backorder on AmiAmi on occasion so you can easily order him at that time. Caesar 1st last I checked can set you back a little more than 2nd but I chalked that up to 2nd being more easily available.

Agreed. Pre-ordered it. I'm not expecting it to be as articulated as the Revoltech, but I do hope it has enough to pull of some good poses.

Not too sure about the alternate face. Seems like he's smiling uncertainly rather than a wide, edgy, teeth-bared smirk.
>>

http://hlj.com/product/MDC81177

Only 210 yen more at HLJ so I will just go ahead and order it there in case the final figure ends up super disappointing. Then I can at least cancel it or return it for store credit. Basically you got 10 days from the point of paying to return it for a 100% cash refund, you get 85% store credit after those 10 days.

Is it me or are AmiAmi prices just getting worse and worse? Or are HLJ prices just getting better? The recent SHF DBZ stuff was cheaper at HLJ by a pretty big margin and I remember SAS used to be cheaper at AmiAmi by like 500-600+ yen even somewhat recently.

How could they fuck up the artstyle this badly?
The fucking revoltech looks better.
>>
>>6004314
>How could they fuck up the artstyle this badly?
By not even attempting to mimic it. Pretty simple. His face looks very generic anime and you can't blame the anime for that because the anime mimics the manga perfectly. They are phoning it in for yet another release. Hips look limited, elbows are limited, faces are meh and knees might be limited to 90 degree bend too. They are using promo shots that make me think this is going to be another shit release because they are trying to hide all the limitations.

Sculpt (outside of being off model) and paint look nice but that doesn't make it worth $75.
>>
>>6004267
He looks like a fucking ken doll.
Why? It looks nothing like the character.
>>
>>6004314
>>6004316
>>6004323
The default face is "close" to being right. Still a bit off but the real problem is they just didn't understand the character or what face to pick for his secondary face. So many directions they could have went to have an over the top face but they pick the one with the least personality and then FAILED to extract what little personality could be there.

This is a big problem with SAS as a whole though. It's always a standard boring neutral face and a boring yelling face. Only figma/SHF seem to understand the value of adding face plates with more personality to them these days, figma being the better of the two but SHF having some successes like with DBZ.
>>
>>6004326
Yeah, if they get the eyes right (pictures are fairly small for me to ascertain) then I'd say his default face is just fine.

However, his alternative face (which could've been really cool) looks like an uncomfortable, awkward laughter, as if he wasn't sure whether a joke was funny but still tried to hesitantly laugh along.

Rather than a wide, edgy laugh that Kouta Hirano is known for.
>>
>>6004331
Yep. I have a feeling they aren't fans of the source material to be perfectly honest. I think the smirk they chose was a bad representation based on some of the promo material that was released where the three characters are sitting there and Toyohisa has a toned down smirk.

Also, I don't believe he will be able to get into this pose (pic related) and they didn't bother showing him off in it like the Revoltech originally did. I don't think his hip armor is on any kind of joint with any kind of range based on the shots they showed and that's going to make him SO BORING to pose.
>>
>>5986643
That's a beautiful display. I'm always impressed by people who have the skull to display action figures effectively.

Replying pretty late but nope, mine isn't like that.
>>5987232
Wow. That shit actually affected the most recent Dio too, every single copy. I was going to buy a replacement but looked at multiple reviews and it's a problem on every one in the same spot on the same arm. Other arm is fine. Luckily you can sorta pose it away and the white unpainted part is close enough to the flesh tone that it's not horrendous but yeah. Medicos is fucking sloppy lately.
>>
>>6004267
he just looks like a jjba character
>>
>>6004335
I do hope he'll be able to take that pose, but like you, I feel like his leg movement will be limited. I don't get it. It seems like they're slowly taking Super Action STATUE more and more literally. I always considered S.A.S. on the level of Figma and S.H. Figuarts broadly speaking, even despite the minimal innovation and engineering alterations per release.

But not only do they seem to not want to make alterations in their designs to allow for more articulation, they seem to even go out of their way to make things less articulated when they could easily be more so. This by refusing to put stuff like armor pieces on joints, making soft material items to allow them to flex, etcetera.

Honestly pretty disappointing. It's one of those things of "You could have easily done it and it would've made a huge difference, but you just didn't bother. Why go half-in and waste your time making it then?"

And yeah, I was seriously looking forward to the smirking face. It would have been a great breakaway from the at this point generic yelling face that Medicos does a lot lately if done well, but it just feels half-hearted and awkward instead.

Paint and sculpt-wise I'm still going to insist that if they capture the Kouta Hirano vibe with the eyes, he'll look a lot like he should with his normal face.

>I think the big problem with the SAS one is also that the eyes aren't wide and empty/almost mindless looking enough.
You know what I think the bigger problem is? Medicos just hasn't improved with time, they've plateaued, maybe even went backward. Even a lot of the yelling faces on some of the recent figures aren't particularly full of emotion compared to some of the recent figma and SHF stuff. Once upon a time Max Factory had really generic anime faces (seriously, go look at old stuff) that were both inaccurate to source material and lacking in emotion. Bandai was even worse by a huge margin. So SAS really stood out at the time as being superior in sculpt and paint. The articulation was also comparable at the time for the most part.

However, over time Max Factory really upped it's game including unique scene specific face plates full of raw emotion and amazing yelling faces with intensity. Bandai also improved drastically and some of the recent DBZ stuff is so much better than their old stuff. In terms of engineering both figma and SHF have also made leaps and bounds. Then you have SAS...paint is getting less detailed, articulation hasn't improved (and in some cases got worse), the faces are the same as ever and prices are going way up. This all affects perception of the line and makes us much more critical of any flaws. Never disregard the importance of progressive improvements and it's ability to generate hype/value.
>>
>>6004565
To keep the post relatively short: I agree. Medicos is really hesitant - nay, reluctant to improve. They have a formula and want to stick to it, and at the same time are getting complacent. Like someone doing the same thing over and over again, the quality gradually decreases, the passion seems to die out, and the prices go up in extreme ways because there is no real desire to make good products beyond making bucks.

I've said it for a long time: I believe that the SAS line of a few years ago could defeat Figma and S.H. Figuarts if it weren't for the fact that, as you said, they plateaued. Unwilling to innovative, unwilling to self-improve, they stick with the same basic stuff and hope it will net them as much bucks as they can get.

I'd consider Di Molto Bene even worse in both price and quality decline with their Statue Legends.

Such a downer. The potential is great and I mean that, and that's why I was stoked for everything Medicos had to put out sans RWBY, but it's dawning on me that there might not be any coming back from this for Medicos, and the worst part is that they might not even care.

I don't see how the SAS face is wrong on the normal face. I see the issue with the alternate head's weak-ass grin, but I think your concerns are honestly pretty overstated. Claiming the Revoltech is somehow better is just pure hyperbole.

Taking a look at the shots you're getting the swords, sheathes that show the swords are in them, and empty sheathes if you want him holding one or both of swords. There's no empty sheathe parts to actually put the swords in similar to the Revoltech Raiden's sheathe piece.

Sort of, but they fluctuate with their heights among lines (and in JoJo's case, in the same line), I wouldn't bother labeling them with a fixed scale.
