I just ordered Kaneki, what should I expect?

And I'm a huge fan of Hellsing, I've considered getting into drifters but never did. this figure is making me wanna watch it, is it good?

Drifters is more or less identical to Hellsing in terms of tone. Fights are actually decently well thought out, and there's lots of historical figures hyped up if you're into that.
Overall, it's a pretty good action show and a 1:1 adaptation of the manga so far. If you like Hellsing, you'll like Drifters, and vice versa.

Most articulation will probably be best on the upper body. The promo shots is telling me the armor along the waist will hinder range of motion unless Medicos slaps joints under them like they did with Star Platinum Part IV as a last minute change.

I can feel Toyohisa will do a decent amount of action poses since he shares the usual Medicos system of articulation with the only changeover being the single jointed elbow. The promo shots is telling me that getting leg movement to work with the armor on his hips isn't going to be great and you need to manipulate the waist rotation for certain poses.

Okay, got myself some time to snap some pics.

Only the front had any glue to attach the skirt, the back had diddly squat. Articulation is still a bit limited by the abdomen section, but she can at least sit down a bit now, especially with the fabric miniskirt. Not much ass, but considering how they did make her original skirt thick as fuck and you wouldn't really see it anyways, it's alright. You can see where I shaved down the crotch piece by the underlying flesh-colored plastic.

The fabric skirt's actually from a junker 3A 1/12 Little Shadow 2 (the goth chick figure in the back). It doesn't ride up as much on Trish, which is why I gave it to her.

Kaneki seems to be a good release, albeit a bit light on accessories. Actually surprised about his outwards leg motion, but feeling concerned about his upwards leg motion, but it's been said that the crotch piece is at least semi-flexible, so should be okay.

Drifters is cool. It's edgy over-the-top stuff like you might've come to expect from Hellsing.

It just sits there, but it doesn't go any lower because its circumference at the top is just a smidge smaller than her waistline. The thighs filling out her form also help.

I think a part of the threading on the inner side regularly gets caught on the bottom of the stomach piece, so it doesn't ride up when I bring her legs up.

You're good. Josuke came put early enough to have most of what you need for certain cover and art poses.

It's only necessary if you want her legs up while her knees are close together, otherwise you end up with Mista's situation where you can't really bring the legs up high enough and the like. Otherwise, you end up with fairly basic articulation and legs perpetually spread when raised. Of course, if you're just doing basic poses (i.e. what Stock Trish already does) with Spice Girl doing the bulk of the display, modifying her isn't necessary.

I used a combination of a craft blade and a metal file to trim down any plastic getting in the way, and I would recommend the same for anyone starting out. Just shave off some of the plastic with the blade and just file down the rest, while periodically reattaching the legs to test and see if you're getting the range of articulation you want.

Basically, only the front divot on Trish's crotch piece had any adhesive attaching the skirt, while the rear two had none to speak of. While I remember it being fairly strenuous even though it was fairly easy to do, I think it can be chocked down to "yanking it off". Your mileage may vary, of course.

Bleach caught on as an anime way too early imho to the point where the anime caught up with the manga fairly quick. Which resulted in filler, filler and more filler. Which resulted in continued loss of popularity and ended up with the cancellation of the series as an anime and eventually the manga. I can go into it more but this isn't the anime board.

Unless Drifters has really short seasons it might end up the same because the manga still hasn't fully revealed who the real big bad is and there has only been one big battle and it's still introducing characters but who knows what the future holds for both.

I got Kaneki today and he's really good in my opinion. If the other two had been as nice (lack of accessories aside), I would have liked them a lot more.

Even the leg articulation can be worked with so that you can get about 90 degrees. The outwards leg movement is more than I had expected.

My only issue is that I hamhanded the kagune peg like a retarded, so I'm gonna have to find a way to fix that.

Medicos pleasantly surprised me with their last Tokyo Ghoul figure. Now for Drifters to hopefully do better all-around.

Kaneki is not a bad figure....for $50. Problem is he costs $80 and for that price he is a fucking joke of a figure with unnecessary engineering limitations.

Things that could instantly improve Kaneki with no increase in production cost:
-Carve out a bit of the pants on the back so he could get more than a 90 degree bend just like figma (and many other lines) do.
-Use softer plastic at the hips to allow more forward range, they did this on Shinichi so Medicos CAN do it when they want to.
-Carve more plastic out of the legs to allow more hip movement, once again, Medicos has done this before.

Honestly...figma Gilgamesh is about $5-10 more but it includes two full hair styles, 3 faces, two weapons, two full upper torsos, tons of hands and a display stand. The articulation range also looks to be really damn good, they posted a picture of him reaching all the way across his chest. Keep in mind Gilgamesh is considered an overpriced as fuck figma and therein lies the issue with Kaneki (and Rohan and everything else new lately)

I don't disagree at all. I guess the two previous releases (Tsukiyama and Juuzou) lowered my standards. The fact that he's articulated at all and looks good is a great thing to me.

But yeah, I agree. I'm just happy he wasn't absolute shit, I'm also relieved that if I play with the joints a bit, I can get a 90 upwards bend of the legs going, and that's more than what I expected.

But all of your points are very fair. That aside, I don't consider Gilgamesh an overpriced Figma. An overpriced Figma is the Void+Ubik package in my opinion.

Though nowadays who knows if another company can do what Medicos does for all these releases if they have a bunch of other series to do on top of it. Medicos seems to be going at 3 figure bursts or single figure releases for different anime IP's.

Anybody here ever tried making their own 3-hole bases? I imagine it would be fairly easy to drill with the right tools. I can't justify buying official 3/6 hole bases off of Mandy at their price values when I can just make one.

It's really easy anon, I just googled medicos and opened their site with the translator on.

In the top-right there is a green square, that's the contact button. You have to put your name, e-mail, location and phone number. But those last two are there, probably, to deal with defects or shit like that. I used the example zip code and it worked just fine. You can upload images if you want, I uploaded some F.F..

Write a polite message in english and they'll answer you in a day, at least that's what happened with me.

Went shopping in Akiba today. At some second hand store some guy had liquidated a large chunk of his SAS collection, all unboxed though, but for ¥2k a piece. From memory they had

Joseph, Caesar, Wham, Kars, ACDC, Kakyoin, H.Green, Abdul, M.Red, DIO, A.DIO, The World 2nd, Star Platinum pt.4, Narancia and Mista. They also had Statue Legends of Vanilla Ice, Enigma and his user I forget the name, Shigeki and Highway Star.

Picked up Kars as he's the only main antag I don't have, was tempted to grab the other two pillar men and The World since I don't have them, but couldn't see me squeezing them into my display.

God only knows what others they originally had. I would have loved to find a KQ and the other part 3 stands (no point in getting the ones they had since they are around the same price boxed)

So will they make a Saint Germi SAS? He's really the only character that works with their Jojo character as a Drifters character style for the figures and he'd fit right in to a Jojo display.

A part of one of my figures fell off, I can't post a pic and I'm not sure how to describe it, anyway I tried sticking it back on with glue you use to put on fake nails and it didn't work, my next step is to use a hot glue gun, but would that damage the figure? Pin vising, inserting a paper clip as a support rod, and CA glue might help short term and be strong enough to "hold" it. Don't count of full posing capability though, it's still prone to coming undone. It's the most temporary of fixes and has a big possibility for eventual failure due to there still being a flaw in the piece itself.

What does the piece remaining inside the body itself look like? I don't own the figure. If it's a double headed ball joint, you can order a Hobby Base set. Pry out the old one and replace with the new joint.

If you have trouble fishing out the remaining piece left in the body, DO NOT use a screwdriver or something hard to pry it out because you will more than likely cause depressions or outright damage to the neck line as you try and lever it. Drill into the joint head, dab some glue on a teeny tiny screw's threading, twist it into the hole you created, and let it set. Then about an hour later heat up the area with a hair dryer until you can feel the plastic getting softer, and use a needlenose plier to yank the screw (by the exposed head) clear out.

I did that too. Well, I didn't do it too hard, I wiggled a lot and all that, since I try to err on the side of caution yet at the same time didn't have any joint problems with Medicos before (lucky, I guess)

In hindsight, even if nothing went wrong, I should've been more careful as well.

Still, it could always happen later, but I hope that everything is now smooth and loosened up enough that that won't happen anymore.

Look up manga artwork or general artworks by Araki for Josuke. Additionally use All Star Battle and Eyes of Heaven gameplay footage as further reference for poses and action display ideas.

If you want to pose figures on the same base I assume you haven't taken apart the Medicos base since those are modular and you can use Soft and Wet's base with the hole with Josuke's and just use the oval center piece to attach the sides into a singular base. If you want to pose them on the sides then you need to find a 3-hole base that Medicos sells at WF which can be found on Mandarake or buy Jotaro 3rd/Black Dio since you get punch effects on top if you want more out of the order. Bruno also packs one from what I hear.

I really like the Swarovski x Jojo super action statues. I'm a cosplayer that works a lot with rhinestones myself, so I've got all the tools and experience needed to put them on my figures myself. Only worry is, how much will the resale value go down if I bedazzle any of my figs?

For instance, I was thinking of giving my green Caesar a make-over. Can't see myself wanting to get rid of him voluntarily any time in the future, but I do sometimes have to sell parts of my collection when money is low and I'm slightly worried that a custom made swarovski figure will be worth fuck all.

Not him, but that's not a fair assumption when it comes to Medicos. I got WF KC and loosened him properly, and let it cool sufficiently. Afterwards I went to move his arms gently and carefully, which wasn't difficult since there was no stiffness, but when I went to move his arms back, they both fell off. Fell off. No snapping, they just fell off like they were hardly attached in the first place.

I also have a The World 2nd with one hand because he came OUT OF THE BOX with the hand peg hanging on by a thread. Hamhands is one thing but I haven't even remotely had problems like these with my 11 non SAS figures.

The ab crunch is okay but it's actually impressive how well you can rotate the torso and how accommodating the separate pieces of his torso is for that. Medicos engineering for KC is actually the nicest for that torso though I wish they find a better way to deal with the shoulder armor but I chalked that up to age because the SHFSS riders I have really nail shoulder armor and managing arm range and rotation.

Just a heads-up, there's a guy on Yahoo Auctions unloading a bunch of Jojo stuff, including a buttload of stands.

A machine translation of some of the descriptions mentions possible sundamage and scratches, but it seems like that might be more of a general description thing.

Was it used? They'll do everything in their power. Since it was supposed to be inspected by them, they view it as a failure on their part. If you're a store dealing in used toys, your rep for inspection and accurate descriptions is really important.

I've had only one negative incident with them. I bought a new sealed figure from them that had a broken part in the package, and they said it was up to the manufacturer. If it was used, they'd have replaced it immediately. I was bummed, but ultimately it wasn't their fault. The package didn't arrive banged up, so it was fucked from the beginning.

Not saying that that will always happen with new figures from them that have broken parts, I'm just relating my own story.

All that matters for a series being adapter into figures is aesthetic IMO. I got into SAS before i was into Jojo just because they looked cool. If a "more deserving" franchise has good enough designs and marketability it will inevitable get its own figure line, and a company financially supporting itself by adapting other popular (And subjectively less deserving) franchises in the mean time wont hurt those chances.
