I couldn't find any similar threads, but anyways... I'm really torn here, guys, and I'd love to get some advice. I'm a 32 year old male and God help me I'm debating myself if wether I should get these DC Super Hero Girls action figures or not. They are obviously marketed with little girls in mind but they're actually pretty nifty. Getting the whole collection in my area would cost me around $70.00 US dollars but I get by on minimum wage, so obviously I am not made of money.

TL;DR: DC Super Hero Girls, yay or nay?
>>
>>5969161
They look cool, and it looks like they're actually articulated. I don't see any problem with getting a few.

If your issue is the price, then maybe it would be better to pick your favorite of the bunch and see if you enjoy how the toy feels in-hand. Then you can decide whether or not to collect the rest.
>>
>>5969161
Like 'em?
Get 'em.
Display them tastefully.
>>
>>5969163
Thanks, I was thinking about getting Super Girl first as I think she's the nicest looking one and then maybe go from there, or just get the whole bunch of 'em all at once... decisions decisions.

>>5969165
I've been considering leaving them carded if I do get the whole lot, then the problem would be finding a space to display them, I have a lot of shit lying around...
>>
>>5969168
I would suggest starting with Supergirl. You might end up not liking the toy once you have it, and it'll be easier to have lost ten bucks than seventy.

Also, it's ultimately your decision, but you shouldn't keep them carded. Toys are for playing with.

Sheesh, that's a badly-done hood. Is it supposed to be removable?
>>
>>5969176
About not keeping action figures carded, I think you may be right... last night I was going through my old carded collection of McFarlane figures and the packaging has not aged well, the blisters are yellowing and the cardboards are showing some damage due to exposure to weather changes over the years, but I'll certainly think about it.

>>5969177
Gave me a chuckle, but I see your point. Thanks.
>>
>>5969179
I don't think so, but if it was removeable I'd rather keep it off, it would seem like a bitch to stay on.
>>
>>5969182
Why did they design it that way, I wonder? It would have looked better if it was molded with her hair as one piece. They did a good job with making everyone else have hair that could accommodate neck articulation, so they could have done Batgirl's hood better.

Although that's really the biggest flaw I see in this lineup; the line looks pretty good as a whole.
>>
>>5969179
It can come off easily. I got Babs to see if I liked them. Seriously underwhelming in how flimsy they are. No ankle articulation, hips are ball-hinged, 'accessories' are just solid pieces of plastic with no purpose other than costume parts (exception: Wondy's lasso and maybe Ivy's vines). Articulation is okay but nothing at the level of a ML/DCM (let alone any of the big import lines).

For me, $8 was easily absorbed but damn was I disappointed a bit.
>>
>>5969185
I suppose they sacrified asthetics for mobility with that hood, that doesn't actually bother me personaly to be honest.

>>5969186
Ah! I see, thank you so much for the input. Yeah I suppose their price gives you an idea of the quality, you get what you pay for after all, but I'm more attracted to the way they're sculpted and designed than actual articulation, I am not expecting much in that area but I'm still deciding if I should get one or two, or the whole lot. My biggest fear though is that after a while it will get more difficult to get the ones I leave out, and I don't dare buy toys online... I guess we'll see how it goes.
>>
>>5969186
Have you handled any of the EQG Mini toys? I'm curious to see how they compare.
>>
>>5969161
these are probably the best thing Mattel has ever made. even the price is fair for once. I just wish they came with an angry face or something

Nah. Ponies aren't my thing. I honestly got Batgirl because her mask makes her look like she has glasses...and I'm a meganekko-degenerate.

They look cruddy. Some of the nicer MH girls look neat and I can understand the demand. These DC girls just look cheap .

Webarella shot up to $200 when it was released, and has dropped since but it's still too expensive.
>>
>>5969161

It's not a bad little show, but the dolls don't do it for me, and I don't like the 6'' figures.

When Wave 2 hits I might pick up some of the new girls though, and Killer Frost is a day one buy.
>>
>>5969315
The show didn't do anything for me. The 6" toys aren't bad for the price though.

I'm a 25 year old male and I went to mcdonalds earlier today to get katana and batgirl.

The most awkward moment is when they ask if you want a boy or girl toy and you have to answer "girl".

I'm also seriously considering getting the 6 in figures, especially if there is going to be new waves.

OP here, well I went ahead and did it, I got the whole lot! I'm sorry for the shitty picture quality but I'm in a hurry and need to get back to my minimum wage job, but if I passed on this whole collection my subconscious wouldn't had let me be, lol. Thank you all for the opinions and feedback, they're much appreciated and I feel better now having taken the plunge.

Cheers!

>I'm also seriously considering getting the 6 in figures

I say go for it, I had my doubts at first but I am glad I got mine. What intrigues me the most of these action figures is the fact that they're built in the typical fashion that action figures for boys are made but these have mostly a girl demographic in mind. The last time I saw toys like these that were popular were She-ra's, so toys with articulations in this scale for girls may be uncommon.

Get back to us once you've had the time to mess around with them. I hope you enjoy your purchase!
>>
>>5970719
They never made a Bumblebee DCUC figure. I was thinking I could get this one and with a headswap it would fit in.
>>
>>5971165
Well, the joints are kind of limited, Supergirl's skirt is a special concern in this area as it's made of hard plastic and limits the mobility for the waist down quite drastically, also there's not much wiggle room for the upper torso if you keep the cape on. An improvement over Wonder Woman's lasso could've included an internal wire for better poseability, Batgirl's hood does come off but it's a bit cumbersome if you use the toy for actual play. As far as Ivy, Harley and Bumblebee there are no complaints.

TL;DR: These are action figures with standard joints, nothing too great but nothing poor either, the sculpting, painting and overall appeal is pretty.
>>
>>5971165
Oh and thanks! I did enjoy my purchase :)
>>
I picked up the Ivy figure and it pretty much just feels like a statue. The leg also broke as soon as I tried to bend it but the skirt gets in the way too much for it to really matter. I'd say proceed with caution.
>>
>>5969356
The movies are better than the show.
>>
There's going to be a Wonder Woman action figure with a motorcycle .
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01IT3V8DW/
And a Batgirl action figure with a Batjet.

i want to, but i'd rather hold off if they make a school for the 12 inch dolls. i only have so much room.

do we have any news on wave two yet?? i'm dying to know if hawkgirl and star sapphire are getting dolls.

Is Babs in a fucking soap box derby? I figured they would give her a motorcycle considering how close her design is to her Burnside outfit
>>

They should've showed these at New York Comic con this year.
>>
>>5984829
Are these at stores now besides Amazon ?
>>
>>5984837
OP here. I might pick these up as well if they're eventually sold in retail stores. But the original launch lineup has a better design in my honest opinion, these look sort of... bland, in comparision.
>>
>>5969161
I'd wait to see what they do with the next line first. These figures are pretty close to dollar store quality IMO.

Same here. I'm kind of surprised that they didn't include Katana with this first launch considering that she's one of the main characters, although a prototype of her was shown at this year's Comic Con. Maybe there's going to be a second line including her and maybe the others like Hawkgirl, Killer Frost, Starfire, Catwoman and such.
