How long do toys last?

Plastic is literally so new a material that we don't actually know, a general estimate is that it takes 500 years for plastic to fully decompose.

Define "last".
Played with via a kid and stuffed into a toy box and not cared for, could be less than 6 months to 15 years before they break.
Cared for via a casual collector sitting in open air, could potentially last your whole lifetime
Stuck in an airtight environment with the air sucked out and stored in a cool dark place, enough to make a profit from something for your great grand kids maybe :^)

Plastic lifetime is centuries.
Enjoyment lifetime is about 2.5 weeks on this shitty board.

Depends on the toy and what you mean by last.

Longer than any relationship I have ever been in
Not all plastic materials are the same, and toys are made of more than just plastic.
Rubbery plastic degrades faster than any other, could take a few years before plasticizers start to leak and it only gets worse after that.
Then there's gold plastic, which becomes brittle af.
White plastic is doomed to yellow, some quicker than others but it's almost unavoidable.
Joints degrade with use, if they are diecast moreso, posable toys are fucked. Unless of course you never pose them, then you can have a nice statue with cuts around its limbs.
Screws rust and if they get too rusty it can cause the toy to fall apart.
Better enjoy your stuff now rather than think it will be there forever
