Just curious.

How many toys do you own from each line you collect?
>>
Depends on the line and characters.
I would think more established lines with a plethora of characters would garner more purchases, right?
That being said, the majority of my collection consists of Transformers, Marvel Legends and Figuarts, but i'll collect pretty much any line.
>>
I just get my favourite characters, in the most accurate toy depiction
>>
Figuarts/figma/Chogokin/Revoltech: less than 10 each
Transformers/Doctor Who: 20-ish
Star Wars/GI Joe/superheroes: 50+

Yeah, I'm not counting shit.
I have thousands, but I know pretty much all of the toys i buy, minus the blind buys where i just buy for coolness, not name/property

I don't keep track of the doubles/triples/etc i buy. Pic related.

I have a TMNT collection that is in scale not unlike the one in your pic, OP. Made up mostly of the original series, but featuring the bulk of the 4kids (2003) one, select others from all following iterations, & virtually all of the "collector" figures (except the ones from Playmates, 'cause they're garbo now). TMNT is my main flame, so I tend to overdo it.

When it comes to other stuff, Nintendo, anime, Gundams, I just go for the essentials. I've got the main cast (~4 characters each) for a few anime I adore, the pattern I typically follow, but sometimes I'll have a favorite side character too. I guess I try to keep it simple outside of my #1 series. It's far too an expensive habit to go all out with more than one. & it requires shelf space that I simply do not have.

As far as brand specifics go...

Nendoroid: 3
Figma: 6
Revoltech: 4
Gundam kits: 8
NECA: 8

Too many to count as far as others go. There's prize figures, 80's/90's action figures, vinyls, etc.
>>
>stopped counting
>finding things I didn't even know I owned
>ending up with multiples because I see it for a good price and didn't know if I owned it or not
I have a problem don't I? It's easily in the hundreds for some lines.

This just reminds me I need to sell of my stuff. If I could display everything I have it would make an episode of Hoarders look like Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous

Star Wars Black Series 6": 7
Star Wars Black Series 3.75": 7
Star Wars Basic Series 3.75": 60
Pokemon Moncolle: 14
Amiibo: 5

I'm ashamed of all the basic series Star Wars stuff I got. I got wrapped up in the Force Awakens hype and bought the entire line. I hadn't collected Star Wars for 10 years at that point and it was like old times again. Obviously didn't last cause now I just have them in a bin in my closet. Same goes for the 3.75" Black Series. Really like the 6" line though. Just been buying my favorite characters for that line. Just wish they'd rerelease guys like Yoda, Han, and R2 cause the prices on them now are a bit excessive. On me for getting into the line too late, I suppose.
>>
>>5963795
I think his point isn't about people putting all their figures in one room but people putting nothing but their figures in one room. I kinda agree with him. Just add your desk or something in it.
>>
Coincidentally i just made a list a few days ago:

>DB/Z- 100+

>Gundam- 12

I thought more crazy numbers would be posted.

Are most people on this board "small time" collectors or are those with big collections afraid to start counting?

Seeing how everyone act like some kind of toy expert in most threads, I assume it's the latter but with how egocentric people are these days the former could still apply.

19 nendoroids

about 15 or so gunpla
4 scale figs

I don't think most of the peeps here are really "collectors" in a completionist sense of the word.
More of a "hey that's cool and i want it" kind of folk that puts their stuff on display.

there is a guy with 1500 TFs in this thread. That counts as a "crazy number". I almost envy him but goddamn that's a shit ton of toys

Most people here are poorfags who can only buy within their meager budgets or allowances.
Then you've got to take into account that there's a good amount of people here who live in not-USA and have to pay 50-300% more for their toys, and their wages are shit.
And from there, there's people who only buy overpriced Japanese/HongKong/Taiwanese toys.

So you have a lot of people on /toy/ who have small collections, and these people make up the majority of the "egocentric" posters on this board, because their tastes are refined from only buying the best of the best of the best... but it's mostly because they can't afford anything else, thus it's shit, and everyone who doesn't agree is a troll.

>>
3 Variable Action Heroes
8 SH Figurarts
6 Robot Damashii
3 Revoltech
5 Figma
12 Star Wars Black Series

And some other stuff I don't feel like counting
>>
I would say my total collection probably tops out around 300-400+ figures but in terms of diversity of figures it's actually much lower. Most my collection consists of a lot of doubles or triples because I would rather spend the money making sure I have spare parts/backup figure than buy stuff I only "sorta kinda" like. Also to make sure I get good QC because I do have a few singles with spotty QC where I wish I had bought more than one. Hell, I wish I had bought another figma Ryuko when her price wasn't insane even though I own 2 because now I am afraid to pose her and break her since she is worth $200-300+

If I were to guesstimate...1/4 is probably SAS, 1/4 is figma, 1/4 is Bandai stuff and the remaining 1/4 is statues, GI Joes and a few NECA.

and 33 Yamato mecha coll kit
1 Yamato 2520 kit

From MFC(Some of my collection aren't listed in the database so I didn't include those):

Figma - 38(42 if doubles are included)
D-Arts - 9(10 if doubles are included)
Play Arts - 17
Play Arts Kai - 2
Robot Damashii - 2
S.H. Figuarts - 46
Transformers Masterpiece - 1
Gunpla Master Grades - 2
Gunpla High Grades - 7

I have other model kits like the Desktop Arcade Collection vol 1-3 and 2nd attack(have them all and variants except for the jubeat) Wave Model kits,SOTA SF(have all the characters in p1 colors and a few ingame variant colors like Dark Sakura, Mech Zangief, Purple Akuma, etc) Rockman mega armor kits from Bandai, Ex:rides, Tamashii effects, 1/12 vehicles etc but I'm too lazy to count all of those.

The one with too much shit packed in closets, with a couple of figures smattering shelvess.
Also, a lot of boxes of unopened legos and gundams.

I don't see the point of counting, unless I'm fitting in a team into the seats of a vehicle or heli.
>>
>>5964076
I'm over the 200 mark on things from Gunpla, to usual figures to candy toys like Assault Kingdoms.

>>

> too much shit packed in closets
So you're a hoarder with no self control.
>>
I think this confirmed my suspicion on the fact that this board is filled with 40+ year olds.
>>
>>5965555
>closets are used to store stuff and keep it out of the way
>storing toys in closets is hoarding
Tell me that again when my shit is overflowing from them, then it might be true.
>>
~15 Nendoroids, but that's only because I have the entire 501st.
Number 2 is 15 if you count preorders or 9 if you don't
Welovefine My Little Pony vinyls
Third spot is either 9 FAGs or 8-11 Shinkis depending on how you count EX sets and blank bodies
>>
>>5965577
If you just keep most of your toys stored away in a closet whats the point? You should get rid of some of it. If you're keeping stuff just to have it, then that is hoarding.
>>
>>5965591
>If you just keep most of your toys stored away in a closet whats the point? You should get rid of some of it. If you're keeping stuff just to have it, then that is dumb.
Fixed that for you.
i think it's dumb just to buy stuff and only every have it to display. Completely misses the point of a toy.

Hoarding is when that shit is just building up in random places and you have no where to put it. And yes, it's for the sake to just have, usually.
But it's just dumb just to own shit just to own.

I definitely don't do that, as i take stuff out of my closets all the time just to play with them.
So I don't know how you think putting stuff in closet = never taken out again, unless you're some hoarder who filled that up long ago and cram shit in front of it, like i've seen in the collection threads here on /toy/
>>
>>5965612
I guess it depends on how you store it. But it sounds like you have shit piled on shit, not very conducive to casually going in and picking up the toy you want. You have like a big baby toy chest or something?
