Uh oh.
>>5947302
I'll just wait for the figuarts
>>5947302
>Dat Kool-Aid surface sheen.
>>5947302
Doesn't look too bad, and the weapon is quite cool looking. Does it really not have bicep swivels though?
>>5947302
>tfw all those Iron Man comparisons were made after the new designs were revealed
I love how even in figure form it still looks like a Hasbro ML Iron Man.
>>5947302
sh figuarts when?
If Bandai is smart enough, they'd use this as an opportunity to relaunch Sentai figuarts, with a focus on Power rangers. Specifically the more popular rangers and teams, like In Space, RPM, and the like.
>B-but the Power FAGGOTS didn't support the line unlike us sentai connoisseurs!
Yeah okay, someone is paying $100+ for the US Power Ranger figures and it isn't Sentai fans.
yea that definitely looks like someone put a power ranger head on an Iron Man figure
>>5947349
Like japan actually cares about US movie Power Rangers.
>>5947458
You underestimate how romanticized a US movie deal is to Japanese companies.
>>5947458
>like Japan cares about avengers, right?
>like japan cares about deadpool right?
>>5947475
Yeah but there's money in those properties from westerners. I can't see people clamoring for high quality collector figures from a shitty Power Rangers movie that's already getting flak for shit designs and direction.
>>5947458
They gave a shit about the latest American Godzilla movie.
>>5947475
>like Japan cares for an Americanized version of a show they've already seen, right?
>>5947503
this is true, apparently they went totally crazy over it and the higher ups/bosses at Toho Co. were saying in interviews they loved it and were gushing all over it. That is why they brought their version of Godzilla out of retirement and made the new Shin Godzilla (aka Godzilla Resurgence) because the 2014 American Godzilla movie was considered a huge sucess
>>5947574
While its been covered up, Toho was also really enthusiastic for Godzilla '98. They approved the design, ultimately.
>>5947302
...this is actually going to somehow be even worse than the first Power Rangers movie, isn't it?
>>5947595
looks that way
>>5947595
>implying it wasn't kidkino
>>5947595
I've heard a few people toss around that the movie might be a parody. Like a Dragnet movie kind of situation.
>>5947744
>>5947302
>That's what his sword looks like
>>5947595
Just wait until 2019 for the Captain Marvelous movie.
>>5947785
Bandai is starting to hedge their bets on the Western market more. There's more releases coming out clearly vying for American dollars.
>>5947770
what that guy said...yeeeesh.
>>5947770
>>5947803
Better look.
>>5947822
a little better i guess. but he still sticks his hand in it
>>5947595
It's going to be like the Michael Bay TMNT movies. Lots of eye candy VFX but none of the soul of what made Power Rangers popular in the first place. Kids aren't going to like it, and fans of the original are going to hate it. But it will still make enough money to garner a sequel. I'm still going to see it in hopes that the Megazord battle will be similar to Pacific Rim. I'd be pissed if it only last a couple minutes at the end of the movie.
>>5947454
That's the main problem, really. They wanted to keep the classic helmet, but the spandex suit was apparently too silly. So it looks like if Tony Stark designed an organic Guyver suit and put a Power Ranger helmet on it.
>>5948676
>Lots of eye candy VFX but none of the soul of what made Power Rangers popular in the first place.
90's retarded extreme attitude was not soul. It was retarded marketing meant for retarded kids of the 90s.
I was born in 1990 and Power Rangers was my childhood and even I'm not wearing rose tinted glasses this thick.
>>5948689
There are plenty of ways you could design a suit without the need for a giant glowing chest piece like Iron Man.
I feel the original movie did a better job at tackling that issue. All you really need is a form of padded/armored suit without resorting to the Tony Stark school of design.
>>5948758
Might not be rose tinted but certainly narcissistic. There's being realistic then there's laying it on a bit too thick, don't you think?
>>5948776
Hollywood concept artists can't come up with anything that isn't just Iron Man. Or that ugly exoskeleton frame like in Elysium and Edge of Tomorrow.
>>5947822
Source?
>>5948776
Why are there no Figuarts of these yet?
>>5948790
You'd think with this being a smaller studio and Power Rangers being Japanese in origin they'd maybe hire Kawamori, Katoki, etc to pitch ideas but nooooo, instead we get this photomanip shite. Wouldn't surprise me at all if Maciej Kuciara's working on this.
>>5948776
Those are perfect movie adaptations. More expensive looking, but still instantly recognizable as the MMPRs.
>>5948855
Because nostalgia = shit.
>>5948855
Because the Sentai Figuarts line is dead
>>5949563
PR isn't sentai, anon. Saban will take you to court over that.
>>5947744
>Ages 15+
What
>>5949602
>Nips wouldn't buy Sentai Figuarts
>Surely they'll buy the American knock off of Sentai
>>5949105
>Maciej Kuciara
Amazingly enough, no. His filthy generic art is somehow nowhere near this terrible shitfest.
>>5948790
Sorta true, The problem is the directive that the artist is given and most producers just tell you "do it like iron man but not quite"
>worked on concept art for the movie
>>5949741
Niggas bought Powerful Rangers Figuarts
>>5947328
>>5950024
>worked on concept art for the movie
if you are for real, pls share/shit more on why the movie designs ended up looking this bad
I always wondered if japan has a version of super sentai that they obsesses and get nostalgic over like we do with the "original" power rangers.
im sure to them Zyuranger was really nothing special. it was just another sentai they watched until the next one started.
>>5947302
The new Iron Man looks great.
>>5947302
>Uh oh.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9XCvrW03lpk
>>5950415
Bascially what I said, producers (the one providing the money to me) Bascially don't want anything too similar to the originals show but don't want it to be too extreme.
Keyword thrown around a lot was "safe" and had us refer heavily to iron man or transformers
As a result a lot of the other designs were just as generic as you'll see on zbrush forums
>>5947302
Woah, there's a new Dinosaur Iron Man? I love Iron Man!
why are the limbs so spread out?
>>5952026
>Bascially don't want anything too similar to the originals show
This happens with nearly ever adaptation film, and I don't get it. Why make a film based on something, only to not want it to resemble that thing?
>this is the same Hollywood that thinks 10+ year prison sentences for pirating a movie are "fair"
Yeah.... know what, if ISIS ever levels Hollywood and takes all those rich assholes with it, nothing of value will really be lost.
>>5952195
Some movie producers have a large ego so as a result a lot of them wish to do something a certain way so they can brag how it's "their" thing.
it's often "safer" to have something look like another propriety character and get that money back than be your own unique thing and lose money.
>>5952195
>Why make a film based on something, only to not want it to resemble that thing?
Brand recognition. They want people to say "Hey, I remember that thing from when I was a kid!" and go watch it. It doesn't matter what the person actually sees on screen once they get there. They already paid for the ticket. You would think people would understand after so many shitty remakes and sequels, but they just keep falling for it.
>>5947822
>>5952526
But we're talking brand recognition in name only. These costumes aren't going to trigger nostalgia in anyone. Everyone sees them and thinks Iron Man. Remember when they made that Dragon Ball movie that looked nothing like Dragon Ball? Didn't turn out so well did it?
>>5953008
Remember that fan dragon ball movie that was actually dbz because the official movie was based on dragon ball when goku was five andfirst met bulma?
>>5952528
They copied evangelion !!
>>5953008
That's the point, though. The people in the target audience for this shit would never just go back and watch Power Rangers. The name triggers their nostalgia, then they see that the designs have been updated to look cool and edgy and modern. So they can watch the new one without feeling silly or childish.
>>5953032
>then they see that the designs have been updated to look cool and edgy
The target audience for this know what the MMPRs looks like. They know that the black ranger was black and the yellow ranger was asian. They know that Rita was an asian with cone tits. When you change everything people know why should they care just because the title is the same? The 95 movie suits were upgraded while still being recognizable. These are uninspired derivative trash.
>>5953072
You are not the target audience. Go watch akibaranger
>>5953073
The target audience are nostalgia fags, and those are the things nostalgia fags associate with Power Rangers.
>>5953255
Then they'll go see it so they can complain about how much it raped their childhood. Either way, the movie makes money.
>>5953073
I have to wonder how they plan to get a target audience. The movie is nostalgia fanwank but kids who are currently watching PR on tv don't get the hype as it's a different team and it's making references to things they don't understand.
At least with the original movie, they got the team and characters from the tv series so seeing them on screen was neat. Even TMNT 2 had trouble at the box office, I don't think this is going to be a huge hit.
>>5953869
Aren't kids used to the idea of different teams though, since they switch them out every year or two?
>>5948776
these are still the perfect suits.
>>5953263
Just like Ghostbusters right?
>>5947328
Straight up Iron Man is a pretty cool Power Ranger design.
>>5954301
But this movie doesn't completely rely on the misogyny card.
>>5950418
The first, Goranger.
But Zyuranger is still revolutionary. It had e first sixth ranger and the designs are killer.
>>5954005
Oh shit, how'd you get the Figuarts so early?
do we know if dinozords are a thing for this yet?
>>5954632
Yes, but they have the same veiny/pipe-lighting/generic sci fi style as the suits.
>>5954952
so bayformer dinobots? hopefully they have more screentime.
>>5948758
It sure as hell has more soul than "let's make everything gritty and dark" or "let's pander to liberals"
>>5947302
Breakfast Club Rangers. Teenagers with angstitude.
Seriously though, what is the target audience for this movie? PR Fans or Hunger Game fans?
>>5947411
they already releasing zords remake. oh jews.
Here's the trailer
https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=140&v=Q-C4qqsgs8w
Ehhhhh. Rita looks kind of okay I guess.
Trigger warning - no Zords.
>>5957082
Geek culture nerd cred people
>>5948777
Sentai did it better. Dino charge is terrible
>>5957383
>Troubled Teens
>Gain their super powers without the suits
>Dramatic tone
>Somehow this will tie into zordon telling them to destroy the putties sent by Rita Repulsa
If you just cut off the suit-up scene, I would totally believe you that this was some chronicle like movie where someone just edited to have the PR logo tacked on the end for those fake trailers you always see on youtube.
>>5958495
>Gain their super powers without the suits
That's actually got me a tiny bit excited.
"Powers outside of suits" was a huge Sentai thing that never quite transitioned into PR, especially in Zyuranger, the Sentai show the original PR is based on. Seeing them bring it back is a nifty little nod.
>>5958527
You're sure they intended to do that though?
WHY IS THE LOGO LIGHTNING POINTING WRONG WAY
WHY THE ANGEL GROVE GLOOMY
IS THIS BY HACK ZNYDER
>>5958586
>MUH
