So someone grafted a new handle on a Messenger, looks almost cool with that handle.

guess he was trying for some sort of "gun porn" look with this pic.

Been thinking about getting the Halo assault rifle that came out recently. Anybody have one around here?
>>
>>5946831
It's fine if just want a prop to paint up. I think it's a tad small, though. As a blaster, it's total shit, which is rather disappointing since Buzzbee has been making lots of good stuff recently.
>>
I have a bunch of toys/collectables in my office (mostly wall mounted or in detolfs), but I also have a few nerf guns.

Would a small pegboard mount to hang them on the wall look good or is that something best left to basements/garages?

Every where I look for displaying ideas it is just pegboards in childrens bedrooms
>>
>>5946941
i guess you could mix up what you mount them onto instead of the typical pegboard.

Well you got the Elite Alpha Trooper, then the Elite Alpha Trooper XD, you also have Gangsta style Raider/Rampage if you cut the priming handle.

If you're hellbent on this and some modding, you may as well go for the Retaliator with pump grip mod, which may net you a better blaster for what you could be spending.

it's more or less just a pump-action triad reshell, i'm sure you could pop out the smart AR pretty easily to make it a shotgun. for $30usd though, you'd be better off with a sledgefire.

I see on all the lipos an amperage discharge rating, do NiMh batteries have something similar, I can't seem to find anything about discharge speed on their product pages/googling.

Curious if I'd get better performance switching to a lipo pack on my rapidstrike from an NiMh, since I know 180s want like 50A burst, and like 20 sustained.

Would it be fine to strap a hard shell lipo to the size with velcro, similar to the current nimh set up?
I know a softshell would be bad for this, but that's the whole point of hard shells, right?
>>
>>5950486
don't be a prick now...
>>
>>5955643
Standard NiMH batteries aren't designed for high discharge rates. They market a sort of high discharge NiMH batteries for things like camera flashes and whatnot, but they're still on the low end. So you probably would get better performance switching to lipo provided you have the proper motor and wiring to take advantage of it. Strapping a lipo battery to the outside of your blaster should be ghetto but fine. If you're using a Rapidstrike, why not just use the old battery compartment?
>>
>>5955905
It'd be hard shell, a soft shell I doubt would be fine.

Battery compartment was removed for a swarm fire integration....
Worth it though.
>>
Why can't they make a decent Super Soaker anymore?

I just want to get one of the guns the size of a small child and connect it to one of the backpacks, but they're all discontinued.
>>
>>5955822
Considering the number of actual multiple dart shotguns are out there in Nerf, it's quite disappointing that one that looks like a decent option turns out to be another frontloader AR blaster. I might as well try to mod a Persuader or a better option, 4Victory into a hammer action two-dart shotgun.
>>
>>5955974
Last I heard, it was Hasbro trying to jew Lonnie (the inventor and patent holder). First they shortchanged him on royalty. Then they just stopped using his patent designs, but kept using the Super Soaker brand name.

From what I recall, other water gun companies put out water pressure systems of their own, so all is not lost. They just won't be "Super Soakers" in name.
>>
>>5955994
Or just tie a fuckton of modded mavericks together due to how common they are and make it so they all prime and fire at the same time
>>
Gonna go pick up a modulus on sale. What's toy think about the esc-10
>>
>>5956772
Reviews say it's a good blaster. I think it looks neat despite being an enormously bulky reshelled Stryfe. The looks would pretty much be the only reason you'd buy it.
>>
>>5956772
A pretty stylish blaster with a ton of accessory point, but for the current price, it's not doing it for me when I could go for the more compact Stryfe for roughly $10 less or the better performer Rapidstrike for roughly $10 more
>>
Target.com has the Modulus Upgrade Kits for $11-12 each. I usually buy the parts separately for $5-6, so getting 3 pieces for the same amount is kind of a deal.
>>
>>5956517
>>5955974
Look for the water warriors line now that hasbro lost the exclusive rights to the patent they can no longer scare people who design something similar to the old cps tech. Currently there is the watelord and the gargantuan for the water pressure systems, the Waterlord will be harder to find due to coming out last year and I believe was a Canada exclusive while they were testing the reception. The gargantua is bigger and only like fifteen bucks, and it shocked everyone by being a true copy of the original cps systems with a full bladder rather then a diaphragm like the earlier attempts to sneak around (in vain) the patent hasbro held. The downside to it is its bladder is very small, ridiculously so, thus way too short for shot times. And even worse is the position of the bladder is right against the water tank so you can't easily modify the length of the thing.

Then again maybe you can, I have no idea how much room the bladder takes up inside the chamber, I pretty much just set the project aside on indefinite hiatus after being discouraged at how jammed together it all was. Not looking forward to potentially having to cut and graft new piping into the thing for a proper bigger bladder.

Anyway, regardless of what gun you want, it will be a bit harder to find them in stores since summer is over, but if you do find one they should be much cheaper. Also be on the lookout for information on the new line around late winter. Hopefully the new water warriors line will have some form of cps again.

what's the gimmik of this series? blasters that shoot accurate?
>>
>>5964147
I don't know if you would even call that a gimmick. Like saying "This plane's gimmick is that it can fly good."
>>
>>5964153
i was more thinking of hasbro trying to churn out sniper style blasters like the longstrike or centurion so the kids buy them for the le epic sniper meme.
i looked up those purple darts and they seem to be quite neat. we'll see if they're actually good.
>>
>>5964147
It's just new themed reshells of old blasters to go with the new ammo type, which shoots much more accurately (but apparently not as far) as elite darts
>>
>>5964171
the gimmick is basically, "OMG!!! IT SPINSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" but by spinning you lose range.

Not that anon but the gun barrel is completely non functioning. It is due to the design of the clip system they used, the space under the barrel is where they fly out of. On one hand yes it's immersion breaking but on the other hand they would have had to have made the barrel so much wider it would have been essentially grenade launcher tube sized and thus much worse.

Yes I know it is Mattel but the boomco line is actually rather decent over all. I kinda prefer their darts over nerf as they are not as easy to deform and warp as the foams, and they also get better performance. And the guns feel a little more powerful then many nerf guns, some folk have pulled off some crazy fps increase mods on the pistols. Not sure what kind of modding the assault rifle can pull off aside from what is known as sniper clips.

The clips the spiker and assault rifle uses can be modded by filling in the holes in the sides to increase fps by fifteen easily.

The only halo gun so far that I really can't recommend at all is the carbine. It is so hideously unproportionate that there is no saving it at all. Otherwise all of them with a little paint job can look like they came straight out of the game.

Stock goes into your shoulder, barrel goes on the front of the gun, sight on top.
That looks to be kitted out with Raider stock, Retaliator barrel (the masterkey looking thing is a Roughcut 2x4 with a rail adapter and its handle lopped off), and Red dot sight.
>>

>Stock goes into your shoulder, barrel goes on the front of the gun, sight on top.
I meant the name of products, but you get me.

>That looks to be kitted out with Raider stock, Retaliator barrel and Red dot sight.
It is possible to get these separately or do I need to buy two sets?
>>
>>5968192
Secondhand is your only option if you're looking for ala carte, but I think the sight is sold by itself. Amazon, Ebay, Craigslist, and thrift stores. Btw,
>http://nerf.wikia.com/wiki/Raider_shoulder_stock
it came packaged elsewhere, and has a Super Soaker derivative if you want to broaden your search.
>>
>>5968150
>>5968192
If you want those EXACT parts, then ebay is your only option. Like other anon wrote above, it's an original paint scheme Stryfe, Raider, stock, OLD red dot sight custom painted blue, original Retaliator barrel extension, and an original modded Roughcut.

Currently on the shelves now, the Stryfe is orange and the Retaliator and Roughcut are white.

My recommendations: don't buy the Retaliator unless you want EVERYTHING that comes with it. Otherwise, you can find the barrel extension in the color scheme of your choice for under $10. Don't get the old red dot sight unless you can get it for $5-10. You can get the NEW red dot sight for about as much.
>>
>>5968278
On closer inspection, that's a modded Retaliator barrel. It has a barrel extension connector tacked onto the end, so you can add a barrel extension to your barrel extension and operate while you operate.

Retaliator barrel extension with a modified barrel

I've got a question about painting blasters.
With spray paint, if I want to make something multiple colors, I mask the off everything except one color, paint that one color with primer, then the color, then the clear coat, and then wait a day or two for it to dry.

Then I repeat that process each time for each new color, redoing primer and clear each time?

Or is there a way to apply primer, apply a color, then mask off the sections I want to stay that color and apply the next color, and then once that is all done, remove the masking tape, and then clear coat?

Can't seem to find a good guide for this for spray paints with multiple coats/ the kind of painting we do for nerf.
Currently a complete novice painter practicing on triads and jolts, hoping to be able to make something beyond a solid one color thing.
>>
>>5969980
If you can, dye your blaster the primary color. It's different than paint as it soaks into the plastic, so scratches don't reveal the original color.

Otherwise, it's like painting anything else. Multiple light coats of primer, multiple light coats of primary color, mask off your sections for the Multiple light coats of other colors, then protective coat for last.

Just follow the directions of the paint bottles. It's often something like recoat before 1 hour or after 24.
>>
>>5970509
I haven't really done other paintings before, so I don't really know.

The paint bottle says to either apply the second coat within an hour or so, or after 5 days. I was using an enamel for the color.
Within an hour doesn't give time for the paint to dry.

So I guess I would paint, wait 5 days, paint the next color, and then finally clear coat?

If I already clear coated, is it bad to reprime and repaint a section with clear coat?

Also, I'll check out dye.
>>
>>5970522
It's not about whether the paint is dry, but when it's able to take another coat for the best adhesion.

I would not paint over a top coat, but it could all depend of the paints you're using, so it might be okay.
>>
>>5970696
Hmm, ok.
It is an enamel over a lacquer top coat, which I believe supposed to be better than the opposite.

With >Within an hour doesn't give time for the paint to dry.
I more meant I couldn't do masking tape within an hour.

So I guess I would wait 5 days (That's what the bottle recommends before a second coat after the hour window passes.) between each color, and then topcoat the whole thing once done?

I've been painting on my balcony, were dirt might blow in, but as long as I bring it in each time after an hour or so it'd be fine.
Would it be safe to gently wash it with some soap and water before the next color/topcoat, if needed?

Thanks for the help, btw.

I wasn't expecting painting to be this slow, but I can deal with that.

Despite the fact that it's a hilariously cool concept, I just can't get around that it looks retarded. Maybe if it looked more like a stock instead of a pistol.

If I had more money to burn, I would buy it and see if I can mod it onto another blaster. A Stryfe within a Stryfe.

Yes. Elite, Zombie Strike, Rebelle, Doomlands, etc are all the same Dart

Not him bought I bought three 12 rounders from China. They fit, but the hole for mag lock is too small. My Stampede for example wouldn't fire. Took me not even five minutes each filing the hole upwards, opening up the mag (they're thankfully not glued) and cleaning out the dust and excessive mag well lube.

I've got some worker 22 mags, they are nice.
I've heard that as they age, they get unreliable unless relubed/cleaned though, but I haven't had them long enough for that to be a problem.

I like the jolt stock but I feel putting a tac rail where the cheek rest was supposed to be was a mistake. The size of the stock is great for adults, but the freaking tac rail is annoying when you actually want to pretend you're aiming.

>>5973600
I was actually going to try and buy a white Recon set just so I can use that combo in a single color. I don't normally like top slide blasters. but that set up works perfectly because it allows easy transition between the main blaster and the pump stock. It also feels super comfy and has a great profile.

>>5973628
The cord on the stock-launcher isn't long enough to fit on a Stryfe in the same layout iirc, and a sight would just get in the way of priming.

In theory it should work, I can't tell what's wrong with it. I removed every mechanical piece but the trigger mechanism that opens the door to the flywheels, but it won't even let one round through.

Has anyone made a mega firing sledgefire work yet? I'm thinking I can cut out some pieces in the middle and get some custom 3d printed shells made and not lose the ability to fire the 3 shot shells, but I'd be much more comfortable basing this all on an already established design

>>5981764
You didn't need to open it up. You just have to fuck with it a bit. Shove the handle at the back in and turn it to the left, the opposite direction you turn it when loading. It won't move the darts if you leave it in loading mode.

How is it this thing doesnt perform as good as both the standard blaster and the jolt?

It's bad enough they havent re-released the Longstrike and if they did I hope they improve that big time.
>>
>>5982718
I have no idea what the point of that blaster was supposed to be.

As far as SNIPA guns go, looks like the Accustrike is attempting to fill it.

Unless it also turns out to be another looong Maverick/Strongarm.
>>
>>5982741

In this case I got it for a couple bucks as I also did for the lever action I saw, I should've grabbed the hail fire there too, but those fuckers at Savers wanted a little too much for it. For all I know it could've been in shit condition like the few I saw a few times before.
>>
>>5981319
Hm, thats an interesting take on it, but I despise the frontloading on megas he has to resort to. Ideally I can just keep shells holding either three elites or one mega, and insert them normally, but I'm starting to realize just how much that would take. Barrel modification, and likely custom shells for both the megas and elites, since the fit wouldn't work properly on the original shells after modding the barrel
>>
>>5982741
With the Alphahawk? Looms cool, but not snipery to me.

I'd love for a reissue of the Longstrike. It just looked perfectly the part.

It kind of looks like (and I'm sincerely hoping, since I love pistols) the stock is detachable, just behind the orange parts of the body and handle.

I want, rather desperately, to turn this thing into just a long-barreled revolver pistol with a bolt prime, and I'm sick of hacksawing off stocks, sanding the burred edges smooth, and still having gaping, askew holes on the blaster.

I kind of also want the Longarm for similar reasons (it's a revolver pistol with an actual barrel), but for fuck's sake, the Longarm is just a reshelled Spectre that they're charging $30 for. For comparison, where I live, Elite Retaliators are already going down to $30.

I'm also still saving up and considering picking up a Lawbringer, so I can cut off the stock, remove the extra black bits around the body/barrel, and essentially have a Hammershot with a 12-round cylinder and a cool barrel. That's probably my first Nerf priority, it being the most useful.

>>5964147
Specifically DARTS that shoot accurate. The new blasters are designed with the new Accustrike darts in mind, but they can fire regular Elite darts, and Accustrike darts can be used in all Elite-dart-firing blasters, so they're cross-compatible.

The Accurstrike darts are designed with much more aerodynamic heads and are balanced to fly straighter without fishtailing, helicoptering, or veering off. Apparently, they've been in the works for 2 years, and the goal is to make it so that you actually need to use your Nerf gun's sights for once. Here's hoping they can keep the Elite ranges, or, fingers crossed, exceed them.

The pulldown mechanic would detract from the sniper aspect of the gun. If you meant the new Snapfire, the draw needs to be long enough to chamber a dart.
Plus, look at this thing. You'd be hard pressed to find the differences to the original parts.
The shell and the bolt sled are literally the same, except that there's stoppers to hold the air chamber in place and the sled is shorter. The catch plate is basically a slightly wider Ret. The dart tube has the front of a LK and the back of a Ret. The spring rest will have to be remolded, but that shouldn't be too hard for Nerf. Come on Hasbro, it would fit so well with the Accustrike line too.
>>
>>5984732

Is the Tri-Strike really that good? I've not looked into it.

And I actually do have a modded LS but it's just too bulky for my playstyle. I just sorta use it as a display piece now since it is a Longshot after all.
>>
>>5985463
The only complaint I have about the tri-strike is the location of it's mag-well release button. It's so far from the grip that you'll need two hands two drop the mag. It's an incredibly minor gripe but really the only one I have. The blaster itself performs fantastic, gets slightly above average ranges for a springer, the bolt action works smooth and the bolt handles actually have a fairl low profile while still being comfotable to use.

But the main event is the attachments. You really are getting three blasters in one box because all the attachments work independent of each other. The Missile stock works great on it's own and is the smallest stand alone missile launcher out there. But when added to a blaster, the stock is very comfortable and the launcher still works great. The mega-barrel is my favorite part of the whole set though, as it adds some versatility to your loadout without being cumbersome. It also has a decent ammo capacity.

Alone, the Tri-Strike blaster is a solid gun, but when you add in the rest of it's parts, it's probably my favorite blaster released this year.

I've been looking into pic related for weeks, especially now that it's on sale sales my local Target.
Is there any reason not to buy it besides it's price? It seems like a solid gun and I've heard it's very rare
>>
>>5991514
I don't know about rare. You can probably buy as many as you want from Target.com.

>$63.99 sale ends in 2d 9h 16m
>Reg: $79.99 Save $16.0 (20.0% off)

The non-Target exclusive one is also on sale for $40.

One review I watched said the SW blasters underperform compared to the current Elites. I ragged on them earlier, but after toying with them in the store, they all have lights and sound. So in effect, it's like getting 2 toys in one: a dart gun and a lights-&-sound blaster.

It's still a crazy price for them. But if I can play around with my promos and coupons and get that Target blue blaster for $50, I'll probably pull the trigger because it does come with those other accessories.

Need advice:

I would like to buy a gun/rifle for office wars:
- best fps I can get, I want to inflict some pain
- use standard elite darts
- precision is appreciated
- no flywheel or any battery powered crap
- somewhat compact

Any recommendations? I was thinking about getting rampage or strongarm
>>
>>5992643
Don't disregard flywheels so easily. I'm a spring babby til the day I leave this hobby, but a rewire and some lipos can make a Stryfe pretty scary.
Anyway, you can cut off the front half of a Longshot and stick an Everbilt 24 lbs spring in it for a small ish 100+ fps blaster. If you really want to hurt somebody, you'd keep the front half for some brass breeching and hit 220+. Any further and your asking for singled Titans or CO2 guns.
But since this is in an office, I'd go for a Rampage. In those small, casual fights, you're gonna lose a lot of friends hitting them with these kinds of numbers. And they could lose an eye if they were unlucky enough.
>>
>>5992001
Get yourself an Alpha Trooper m8. One of the best Nerf guns money can buy. Retaliator and PRE-XD Stryfe are good and look great with the Raider stock as well
>>5992643
Tri-Strike or, again, Alpha Trooper. I wouldn't brush battery powered guns aside either. Hell, the Stryfe and Rapidstrike are probably somr of the best Nerf guns ever made. A vanilla Stryfe is compact and user friendly, but it has tons of mod potential. If you have $45 to spare and are adamant about springers only, then I recommend the Tri-Strike. Attachments or not, it's an overall solid gun
>>
>>5991615

People like to mod and customize things. What's the point in a $5000 PC rig? What's the point in $50,000 worth of mods in a $20,000 street car? Who the hell pays $500 for a custom Deadpool 3.75" figure?
