Twinkle looks like she'd have more freedom in arm movement while Mermaid will have less restricted leg movement due to her skirt design.

I would say they're going for different audiences so they should be fine. Storm's are more high end and impressive looking with more details and likely accessories at a higher price, while the SHF look like they jumped right out of the older games (Ryu especially looks just like his SSB model) with a more standard size and appearance. That said, I don't see either of them lasting very long. At these price points there are only so many characters most people would be willing to get. There definitely won't be a lineup like SOTA's in a very long time. At least that's my guess, who knows. I do see the SHF lasting a bit longer, maybe around 6-8 characters. We'll see though.

On one hand, Storm Collectible's Ryu resembles SF V's Ryu more because of all the minute details and more "realistic" appearance, while SHF Ryu resembles Smash's Ryu with the crisp clean anime style. So appearance wise you could think if you want more of a SFV look or a Smash rendition look.
Articulation-wise however, I think both will be pretty great, but already I see that SHF Ryu has a bottom neck joint to probably offer more pose-ability for head tilts (Storm Collectible's neck and upper chest is one single piece).
Price-wise, Storm Collectibles Ryu can be found for $55 on BBTS, and I guess the SHF will be around 6,000 since standard-released SHFs are like 6,000 yen lately. So overall they'll be around the same price, or SHF Ryu will cost just a few more bucks than Storm Collectibles' with import fees and stuff.
This'll be hard, honestly I really like both so I'll probably end up getting both.
One thing to keep in mind though is that this is Storm Collectible's first 1/12 figure so I don't know how it'll end up being in hand while we pretty much already know how SHFs are. Since the Storm Collectibles Ryu is going to be released this month though, we'll have ample enough time to look at reviews before the SHF one goes up fro pre-order, which is nice.

I was hoping for an SF figma line but Bandai doing it is also good.

Chun's face looks waifuish just like her in SFV which is good and I'm hoping the final mass release product looks end like that(or similar to that proto). I'm also hoping for great articulation around the hips so she can do nice looking high kick poses.

Ryu looks ok although she looks skinny to me but that may just be the angle or the pose of the figure.

Good thing I diden't preorder the Storm Collectibles and waited on who will make the first waifu chararacters of SF.

Chun-Li looks good so far even though her face seems...iffy and bland. Also not crazy about her thigh cut and how it looks. Still I am excited since Storm Collectibles won't show off any fucking females. These figures NEED to come with good effect parts though because that's the one thing Storm Collectibles is nailing.

Ryu also looks good except for his knees. I like the more anime look he has but man those knees and those toe joints look ugly. Some people are comparing it to Ranma but it's really not like Ranma at all. Ranma looks great partially or fully bent from the front but looks hideous from the side with the giant tumor joint. I think Ryu's joint is probably set the way it is to minimize the tumor but it ends up looking ugly from the front as a result. Too much thickness in the front before the joint starts.

Storm Collectibles Ryu:
-More detailed sculpt and paint
-Joints hidden much better, especially the shoulders
-Comes with cool effect parts (and so does every other release so far)
-Accurate to SFV, if you like that
-7 inches tall so out of scale

SH Figuarts Ryu:
-Less detailed sculpt and paint, more anime style if you like that
-Much more obvious joints, especially the shoulders where you will see skin tone poking through unnaturally like Goku in certain poses
-Might not come with cool effect parts because Bandai has been stingy with them lately
-Probably in proper scale

Personally I see a reason to own both. I think SC will give me a better SFV display with tons of cool effect parts and Bandai will probably give me a small handful of characters from an indeterminate source, who knows what costumes they'll use.

It sucks that these guys were exclusives when the regular ones are chilling out for 45 bucks everywhere. It's a really good mold too, but I can't justify troopers #4 and #5 for that much. I'm glad they turned out well though, I heard some horror stories about TR-8R's QC.

When Widow was first revealed, I had accepted she probably would be awful, even as I preordered her anyways. The positive impressions and pictures folks posted in the last couple threads got me a lot more optimistic about her, but there were still things I thought didn't look too great (such as how her upper torso was done).

After finally having her in-hand I gotta say anon was right, I love how she turned out! Totally beat my expectations. Even the upper torso that I thought looked strange looks great in-hand.

The likeness is shockingly on-point from a distance, and the over-all proportions/figure are just so ScarJo-esque (or how I recall them in the film, at least).

My one major gripe about the figure is that it lacks a true ankle tilt joint (unless I'm missing something). Instead, you have a forward/back ankle joint that is fixed in place, along with 360 degree rotation below that joint. Using these two articulation points together you can achieve the same effect as an ankle tilt, but it's just kinda awkward.

That gripe aside, she turned out so much better than expected, and I'm really happy with her.

Experienced that myself; paint apps on my riot trooper were much sloppier than the retail troopers and one of the pouches on his belt fell off due to not being glued in all the way (plugs back in with just friction, but still...). Heavy trooper has a couple imperfections in his paint job on close inspection, but overall I'd say his QC is just as good as the retail troopers and leagues better than TR-8R's.

Definitely feel you on the suckiness of the exclusivity, if the mold weren't as good as it is I wouldn't have been roped in, but alas... haha.

If you can only get one exclusive trooper, I'd definitely recommend the heavy trooper over TR-8R.

Just got Ant Man, something's throwing me about the proportions. Maybe it's the thin calves or the crotch and mid-section being just as wide as the chest, but overall it just isn't appealing. Also, the tolerance in the hip hinges and thigh cuts are completely fucked. Need to get some kind of lubricant in there.

Yeah I really like the webbing on the Heavy Gunner. It's not painted on except in certain unseen spots and it doesn't ride up like webgear tends to do on action figures. It breaks up the monotonous design of the FO Trooper really well, part of the reason why I prefer it over the Riot Trooper. Hell if you wanted you could give the Heavy Gunner the baton and shield , it's not like there's a rule against it or anything. I also had QC issues with my Riot Trooper, namely a loose right arm.

I'm hoping Figuarts Chun Li can atleast do this pose(pic related). For Figuarts girls, I only have the Sailor Moon girls, CCS and Ranma, they all have the pull-out hip joints(except Sakura). has Bandai made a better hip joints for the girl character figuarts? I remember I saw someone from toy posing a female Saint Seiya Figuarts in a similar pose like pic related.

This angle has me optimistic about the posability of her legs at least(though looking closer it would appear her knees will not be able to reach much more than a 90° bend which is unfortunate). My main concern for her is whether or not the skirt piece is floating, and a part of the mid-section.

At this point I just hope there's minor changes made before the two are presented for pre-orders.

It would be dumb for Bandai if the skirt piece is connected/glued to her mid-section since that would severely limit her leg poseability. I have the Sota, Resaurus, Playarts Kai and heck even the Toybiz one and all of them doesn't have the skirt connected/glued/part of the midsection.

If Bandai isn't incompetent there is some sculpt carved out on the very back to allow those knees to bend in much further. They'd have to fuck up big time not to have it because it's pretty standard on imports at this point.

The concerns about the skirt are definitely valid though. Bandai has always had a hard time with making shit soft/floaty that needs to be. They like to slap in rigid ass plastic that hinders articulation a shit ton. Hell, lately they've been encasing legs in hard skirts with no flaps or openings like Whis and Xenoverse Trunks.

Yes! I love that as well! It's a really interesting mix of sculpted detail and a separate part which makes for wonderfully form-fitting webbing. Works beautifully on the trooper.

It's a totally different sculpt from the one they displayed at Tamashii Nations 2011. He lacks bicep swivels and his sleeve design makes it hard to move his arms and make certain poses. He also has a pinhead with very low quality faceplates. His jeans are restrictive on his feet which makes balancing him a chore. Also, no extra hair piece so he can't take off his hat without a huge peg being exposed.

About the only good thing about him were the effect pieces for Burn Knuckle and Power Geyser.

The only Figuarts figures I have are Luffy (no box), Ace, Nami, and Super Saiyan Goku (no box) as well as some extra regular goku parts that the guy I bought it from threw in.

I ended up losing the little piece that attaches to Nami's skirt, so I'm gonna have to get another one. Good thing she's only $30 nowadays

I'll prefer if it's the SF3 or SF2/anime since I grew up with those but SFV is fine too. IV is a bit iffy for me since most of the character design there made them look like cavemen.

Maybe that's why the Neca SF line face sculpts looks terrible.

Try and Google the list, it's legit. Bandai will first do the popular characters first so that they can get the consumers to buy one. If they started with a lesser popular character say Joe, nobody will buy it since most collector will want the main/popular characters first.

I'm guessing Ryu will be be popular since Smash collectors will want him for their displays.
