Alright guess janitors are a little heavy handed.

Pose OC, Ask for tips.

Contribute or educate yourself with /toy/'s Stop Motion General Guide:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1_irjiXTI75NSqvacwXDETK4GP4WC6xR5Zjz_LhJgnQ4/edit?usp=sharing

Gonna try one more time with something much easier.

Recreate The OP gif. Frame breakdown in second post.

Got any recommended channels for stop motion toy vids?

I really miss Plamo0's stuff.
>>
>>5944594
Did the janitors can the thread ? I was wondering where it went.

The Animator's Survival Kit was a great read, thanks for including it OP.

>>5944677
Plamoo's still out there, Someone posted a link to his new channel a two threads ago but I can't remember it right now.

I really like Jordan Tseng's stuff aswell.
>>
>>5944597
that's real good anon

is there any way to keep the lighting consistent?
>>
>>5945022
If your shooting with a mobile device like my example. AF lock is your friend. If your using a DSLR manual shooting is your friend. Check the DSLR section of the guide.

Looking good anon! It's pretty smooth on the whole, can't wait to see it finished!
>>
Does anyone have any good suggestions for software to convert images into a webm? The only things I can find on Google are just malware.
>>
>>5946085
I make my webms with Adobe Premiere Pro but if you don't have it, I'm sure there are better alternatives that some Anons know about.
>>
>>5946085
You can also use ffmpeg if you know how to. I'll try to do some research on the matter.

I guess a "How to make a WebM/gif" section in the guide would be a good idea.
>>
>>5944594
Nobody deleted it. The last post was on Friday, and the topic was pushed off the board by other, newer topics.
>>
>>5946533
Then why are there threads with the last post 5/6 days ago?
If the stop motion threads last post was on Friday, it should still be around.
Clearly a mod or Jan felt the need to remove the thread for no reason.
>>
>>5946533
It was on page 7 when it got pushed off I was monitoring it and I was actually about to post an earlier version of the SP gif I posted. It didn't even hit 24 hours since last post before it got deleted. There was threads that had no activity for 48hrs that were still on the board.
>>5946514
I agree on this idea. since I have no idea how to do this either.
>>
>>5946550
>>5946612
The last post was #5940375 Fri 30 Sep 2016 08:06:39.
None of the archives show it marked as deleted. Which means it was pushed off by other threads. Sorry your little conspiracy theory doesn't hold up, but there's no secret plot to keep your little threads from flourishing.
>>
>>5946973
Where can yo see if a thread was deleted vs felloff
>>
>>5946980
well considering it's still exists in the on-site archive, it definitely wasn't deleted since those get removed and not archived.

>>5929416
>>
>>5946997
That's because the thread reached page 10 without no one bump it, it got deleted, just by lack of activity at the moment
>>
>>5947136
>the thread reached page 10 without no one bump it, just by lack of activity at the moment
yes...this is called getting pushed off/falling off the board due to inactivity, which is different from the thread being deleted by someone, my newfriend
>>
>>5947150
The thread never reached page ten though. Unless there where 25 new topics from me leaving work to reaching my desk at home. I know for a fact because it was 2 pages ahead of the original effect thread which had no posts for over 48 hours and was still on the board last night. Needless to say this arguement is a waste of time and energy. Post OC motherfuckers.
>>
>>5947150
Yeah, I was agreeing with you
Either way, let's keep on topic
Someone have some guide to convert videos to webms?

There's a link to download the free Adobe Plug-In for Premiere here
>http://www.fnordware.com/WebM/
They talk about ffmpeg aswell, and they have a list of non commercial and commercial software at the end.
Xmedia Recode (http://www.xmedia-recode.de/download.html ) seems like a good solution but I haven't tested it.

Remember /toy/ and most board can only handle Webms with no audio and encoded in VP8.
>>
>>5948471
>http://www.mediacoderhq.com/download.htm
This one also seems to be free and is recommanded on the Webm Wiki page. I'll test it later today.
>>
>>5948390
What the fuck did you use to make this. I like it. It almost feels CG.
>>5948471
Has anyone used handbrake to do webm?
>>
>>5948587
Shot it in front of a green screen, I added the ground later and shadow in After Effects later.

>>5948587
Can't say I have sorry.
>>
>>5948587
>>5946514
>>5946085

XMedia Recode (linked here >>5948471 ) is free and works welll. It's not too hard to use either.
>>
>>5949111
>>5946514
>>5948587

MediaCoder (>>5948479) is also free but seems slower than XMedia Recode and looks less userfriendly. But it works fine.
>>
>>5948587
I downloaded Handbrake but it doesn't seem to be able to convert video files to the .webm format. While it can export to the .mkv format encoded in VP8 (the same as .webm) 4chan can't handle it.

Badass. I like how GL shakes a tiny bit after the kick like a body would from all the motion. Subtle things like that can make stop-motion look like live-action.
>>
Fuck it. I'm pirating after effects. You guys have convinced me WLMM just doesnt cut it anymore.
>>
>>5950691
You did good anon, you should get yourself Adobe Premiere Pro while you're at it, much more easier to edit with Premiere than After Effects.
>>
>>5950908
I do a lot of chromakey and layering. Is premiere good for that too? I learned premiere in highschool 10 years ago and never went back to it due to...laziness.

>>5944594
This is by no means good, but it took from start to finish about 20-30 mins., and it was just for fun so here you go.
>>
>>5950958
Nah if you want to do chromakey and layering then you're all good with After Effects. Premiere is great to edit everything you've done (if you have more than one image sequence). But for vfx go for AE.
>>
>>5950986
It's a good start anon, now get yourself a tripod and start doing more !
>>
>>5946085
>https://archive.rebeccablacktech.com/g/thread/41212767

ffmpeg is a little bit non user friendly but far more efficient than any other converter (they actually use ffmpeg). You can create batch script that will transform any image sequence into a webm without needing to launch any app. If I've got time, I'll try to write a script.

>>5953393
>Painful 3rection92
Fucking kek.

It's pretty good anon, Image quality is nice aswell.

The only thing really lacking is the animation is not very dynamic, it feels linear like everything goes at the same speed, you know ?

Nice LEGO collection, anon.
>>
>>5950986
Here's my criticism.

1.As other Anon said use a tripod or at least find away to keep your camera from moving as much as possible.

2. Shoot at a fixed distance. If there's too much in the shot you can always crop the frames using a photo editor like photoshop or gimp. (I should probably add that tutorial in the guide for laymen). If you actually want that zoom affect I would try and add it post.

3. Autofocus lock or shoot on Manual but it might just be the interlacing of the gif that is giving it that strobing effect. So take that with a grain of salt.

4. Even though it's not that bad I would try shooting with more controlled lighting.

5. If you ever choose to try it again or do another transforming GIF try and double the amount of frames.

Other than that it's pretty good.

>>5953393
I like it but I have to agree with >>5953821
in terms of animation. I would try and give a little bit more life to the background like have the spectators heads move with the vehicles like you did with the one horse. You could even have the foliage move a tiny bit as well.

Lighting control is very good except you got a couple weird frames in there where the camera starts to refocus. I dont know what it is about this video but someone needs to do a Twisted metal lego stop motion.
>>
the only successful stop motion I've ever done with little to no practice

>>
>>5954701
Animation is really stiff but I don't know how much you can do with these figures. Nice try mixing live action elements with Stop Motion, sometimes it kinda works and sometimes it's a bit wonky.

Pretty good stuff overall, are you trying to do more ?
>>
>>5953821
>>5954541
Thanks anons. I will most likely be making another car related lego stop motion in the distant future so these tips will be hella handy. I suppose I should also work on adding in more dynamic camera angles like close-ups and a few moving camera shots.

nah it was just a project i had in mind and i wanted to practice green screen and color correction. the articulation on the titans are great but it's not minuscule movement great, plus it's hard to maneuver this beast without accidentally breaking something or having him fall over. also i only had 6 hours in a green screen room twice, and the first day my hours were cut short because my school is retarded with studio access to people who pay absurd amounts of tuition, and the security hired at my school are fucking lazy Jamaican fucks

how do you connect an external camera to dragonfire? also do you know any programs that support green screen? and any good free programs?
>>
>>5969334
I assume you connect a usb cable to the camera the same way you move pictures from the camera onto a pc
>>
>>5969334
Check the Dragonframe website to see if your camera is compatible. To connect your camera to your PC you just have to plug the USB cable that came with your camera into your PC. What kind of camera so you have ?

I believe DaVinci Resolve 12.5 can do greenscreen keying and it is free but not very user friendly and doesn't work with every graphic cards.

>>
>>5970951
What would be software that gets the pictures from the camera itself and convert them into stop motion
>>
>>5973783
Dragonframe is one of them.
You also have software like Stop Motion Pro, Animator DV Simple+ and Animator HD are other options but DragonFrame really is the best.
>>
Should we add links to download softwares in the guide or should we keep it legal ?
>>
>>5978871
Naw. shits easy to find imo. I would like someone to add more books though and a youtube directory. I would also love some software tutorial links if possible as well.
>>
>>5979232

Well speaking of books, here's a new book I'm adding to the guide :

>>
>>5979232
>easy to find imo.
Please tell me where I can find a linux version of dragonframe
>>
>>5980438
I think the only way to get it for the moment is buying a copy of the software and asking the support to give you a Dragonframe Linux license since it isn't officially out.
>>
>>5980438
>http://www.dragonframe.com/linux.php
>>
>>5973757
He'll be able to edit it out, dingus. Hence the blank frame at the end.
>>
>>5981908
It's a mistake that shouldn't be made in the first place.
>>
>>5981948
Everybody doesn't have the proper equipment to safely hold their figures, plus I would rather have my hand in the shot than having a support rig that covers part of the figure that forces me to do even more compositing after that.

there is no rule about this stuff and it is certainly not a mistake. Whatever gets the shit done works and it will work perfectly fine.

And a NVIDIA shield. The NVIDIA shield has been built to stream games from PC to the device or another monitor. I hooked up Dragonframe through it and now I have a wireless screen. They might be cheaper solution but so far it works and I needed a tablet anyway.

What I might do in the future, I think, is Hack a 50$ wi-fi router to create a wireless connection between my PC and my Camera, I'm starting to have way too much cable lying around.
>>
well, maybe these generals aren't meant to be but it's been nice folks.
>>
>>5944677
Harris Loureiro and YouheiDX, they both mainly do transformers though. YouheiDX does minipla and Tokusatsu, too.
>>
>>5989580
I dunno. Was kind of hoping to drive OC but I'm guessing the header of choice might've been still too much. I might try one more thread with an even simpler objective (4-8 frames) and see where it goes. I feel like everyone owns a camera and this shits pretty easy to get into if you want to make basic shit but I guess the boards too busy shitposting in their generals of choice. We still got some decent content in this thread though and the guide is looking pretty good successful thread or not.
>>
>>5990700
It's not hard but quite time consuming, even 3-8 frames it requires you edit them, export them as .gif or .webm and then upload them... There seems to be a lack of general interest in the medium. There's not much people posting OC or even videos they like.

I'll still continue to update the guide as soon as I'm done with my current stop-motion.
>>
>>5990700
I'd suggest a few. a 2-4 frame option, a 4-8. Then maybe something a bit longer.
I think people won't mind 2 to 4 pictures if they get a quick easy animation from it.
>>
>>5990713
>>5990715
The jerk stop motion I did literally took no more than 20 minutes and that includes editing. Unless your trying to make something really intense or add effects it really isn't that hard. I honestly think it's mainly lack of interest. I also shouldve went with something loopable. When the thread autosages off the page I think im going use the Patrick Bateman dance unless you guys have better suggestions.
>>
>>5991825
Well maybe the problem isn't the real time it takes to create a little stop motion animation but the idea of how much work is needed ? The photo and posing generals are quite simple, take a figure, pose it, take a picture and upload. It might even be what some do in their past time whereas animating might seem like more work to them.

> I think im going use the Patrick Bateman dance
I haven't got time to do anything this month but I'll do this one
