Discuss Dinosaurs/Paleo Creatures toys. IGNORE FEATHERS VS SCALES COMMENTS. (Seriously, this fucks up /dino/ threads EVERY time.)
-Hasbro no longer has the license to JP merch, Mattel does now. Pic related are some of the new wave of Jurassic World figures featuring hybrid dinosaurs.
-John Silvas of Creative Beast is finishing up sculpting the prototype figures and sets of his highly articulated 1/6 scale raptor figures called Beasts of the Mesozoic. https://beasts-of-the-mesozoic-raptor-series-action-figure.backerkit.com/hosted_preorders
-Companies like CollectA, Safari, Mojo, Schleich, and Papo continue to produce scaled figures of various paleo-animals.

More pics of the retooled Indominus. No rubber head/neck, all hard or flexible plastics. New gimmick is that you rotate the left arm back and it activates a chomping action with snarls and growls. It's chomping action goes on for a few seconds, these viper-like fangs in the roof of the mouth drawing and retracting.
>>5942791
Damn phone...
Anyways, the red spines on the back conceal the yellow spines which erupt with a push of a button on the left ribs.
>>5942795
>>No amount of chiropractic therapy will help with this.
The spines erupt with some roaring. I kinda like this clusterfuck-a-saurus and might grab it when money's not tight. The fact that the mouth and neck are motorized and the arms are thick like the last one might make this Indominus actually balanced when standing free.
>>5942800
*aren't thick
>>5942758
*David Silvas. Fucking long night at work.

>Paleo Creatures
i wouldnt recommend mentioning the word PALEO
ever
never
It will trigger paleofags and they spam your comments wiht "SIENTIFICALLY THIS..." tipping their paleo-fedoras.
PS:
You are an "awesome bro" (that's supposed to be an insult) if you actually like a picture from OP-picture.
This is some kind of a new "buzz word" when a person likes "ugly" "non-accurate" (edgy) dinosaurs.
Who here has backed the Beasts of the Mesozoic: Raptor Series Kickstarter?
How many raptors did you buy?
Which Raptors did you choose?
>>5942758
>hybrid dja swaps
>no bird like dinos
No thank
>>5943300
I did. Put in for 2 Atrociraptors and 2 Balaurs.
Just got the collectors edition bluray of Jurassic World in. The figures it comes with are a bit smaller than I thought but pretty good.
>>5943300
I forgot this was a thing. RIP.
>>5943300
I did. Still haven't locked in but I bought 3. As of now planning for atrociraptor, blue velociraptor, and purple zhenyuanlong suni. Debating if I want to add more.
>>5943300
I pre-ordered three: Velociraptor, Dromaeosaurus and Balaur.
>Velociraptor for the most vanilla raptor genera that primarily uses its sickle claws.
>Dromaeosaurus for the most vanilla kind of broad skull raptor that primarily uses its jaws and because I always loved how their skulls looked.
>Balaur for a more blatantly avian-type of raptor that's bordering on more bird than reptile.
All in all, I was also glad for the colorations I chose: fiery orange for Velociraptor, snowy gray for Dromaeo, and lush blue-green for Balaur. Personally excited for them, and since getting even just three is already pretty damn expensive, I had to make careful considerations on which raptors to pick that really suited my interests in terms of colors and their significance in paleo research.
>>5943300
I'm tempted to preorder one but I can't decide on one I like and I feel like they said we'd have to pay around the 7th or something?
>>5943300
Yeah, I can't remember names off the top of my head, but Red and Blue.
>>5944202
Yeah, Dromeosaurus was nearly my choice because of the feather patterns (it looks so badass), but I couldn't resist an edgy black/red raptor and a double-sickled bird-raptor.
>>5942758
I caved and bought the new dilophosaurus repaint because the colors were obnoxiously bright enough to remind me of Chaos Effect.
>>5944454
Funnily enough, my case was the opposite. Originally I was considering the Atrociraptor for the black/red color scheme but I really liked the contrast between the red-orange eyes with the dark snowy grays of the Dromaeosaurus. That, and I always had a soft spot for it. Agreed with Balaur, the double-sickle claws and the fact that it's almost practically a bird-raptor definitely adds to that unique quality to it (sort of like the "missing link" between velociraptor and modern birds) and it's basically why it caught my attention.
>>5942758
>Hasbro no longer has the license to JP merch, Mattel does now.
Eh, theyll never match these superior things
>>5944591
That's made by the Chinese company Chap Mei, to anyone interested. They make stykized dinos similar to that plesiosaur. I think they did a pliosaur too.
Walmart also has some knock-off JP dino sets for cheap. They all include an electronic roaring carnosaur with LED eyes. Sculpts are full of big thick scales and limbs are stylized so they can only do one pose really. They come with little Dino-wrangler figures about 3.75" tall with cheapo vehicles and gear. There's the raptor set with one raptor and some dudes and a therizinosaurus version of the same pack about $7. The bigger pack for like $15 has two versions. One is a T-Rex about the same size as the Kenner Young Rex which lights up in the eyes and roars when you pull its arm down. Comes with either some ceratopsian or a stegosaurus a bit bigger than the Bash'n'biter JW dinos, plus Dino-wranglers with gear and a jeep. Alternate version of the $15 pack has instead of the Rex a Rex-sized Dilophosaurus which has a weird crest, a JP-styled frilled neck, and a spinosurus sail. Dumping pics.
>>5944923
Therizinosaurus pack.
>>5944933
Rex.
>>5944941
Dilophospinosaurus.
Oh, and different colors of Rex and the raptors exist.
>>5944923
Any idea what companies/brands/shops are using Chap Mei dinosaur molds currently?
I know their military stuff are being used by TRU's True Heroes and US Army(Excite Co.).
>>5944953
No clue. Search 'Chap mei dinosaur' on eBay and they have several of them.
I know it's a long-shot, but seeing as Ambush is finally getting a new figure this year I wonder if the GI Joe Collector's Club could get Hasbro to let it use the Carnotaurus tooling.
>>5948333
I want this dino in front of my door so everytime i come home he will be glad to see me
>>5942758
>"Hybrid" Dinosaurs
>Still retain those scrawny arms
Why are some BOTM raptors 35 and some 40?
Can arm feathers be removed?
>>5952904
>They still haven't made a Grimlock with long dino mode arms, which is constantly featured in the cartoon
>>5954581
Didn't the MP Grimlock have long arms?
I got this when caldor went out of business
Any new ankylosaurus toys out there?
>>5954492
I think it's mainly to do with some already being pre-sculpted beforehand and requiring less new molds while the others are higher in price due to primarily being new molds. It sucks because that means if you choose only between the newer raptors then there's going to be a definite markup in price.
>>5955809
>caldor
Fuck you for reminding me about this store, anon
I have some bitter sweet memories of it.
>>5955809
I have the Bull as well, but without all the crazy end of the toy line techno colors.
How do any of you justify buying such low quality dinosaur toys?
I love the Jurassic Park franchise as much as any other enthusiast, but the though of giving Hasbro any of money for that garbage merchandise is insulting.
Come on collectors, why support such terrible dinosaur products?
>>5961138
Because they're better than the "high quality" crap with feathers.
Visited my local TRU and spotted this with the new Indominus and green spino-Rex. The spiny parts are soft PVC and slip over the armored back and club tail.
>>5961266
And here's what it'll look like assembled.
Poor man's Anguirus, anyone?
>>5948333
I HAVE THAT DINOSAUR!!!
Never knew it was from GI Joe
So maybe you guys can help me out here.
I backed a miniatures game on KS where you play as dinosaurs, and J am now in the process of looking for dinos suitable for use.
Basically I want something aroynd 1:100 or 1:72 scale, with decent detail and relatively in scale with each other. I've tried shapewayd and the prices are rapetastic.
Any suggestions?
>>5955809
That toy gave me a slight vore fetish.
>>5944953
Tru is full of animal planet sets with dinos and other shit. I missed them for a while because they are on the other side of the store from the action figures. I could do without the vehicles but the figures themselves are pretty nice. Also makes up for missing out on the JW mosasaur. Pick relatified
>>5943300
I would, but I'm always afraid of brittle plastic and bad joints when it comes to kickstarter toys (ie poor qc)
But still, I'm tempted to PO one.
I can't decide which one to get
>>5965826
Both
Sexual dimorphism yo
>>5965826
Both look really good honestly. Just really depends on what you want or if you can even get both. I opted for the original colors since it it adds a bit of variety for me, given how I'm also getting the orange velociraptor.
>>5942758
I've got some Kenner velociraptors coming in. What are some of the Must-haves from the earlier Jurassic park lines? I have allot of JP3 and chaos effect but nothing from the first film.
>>5965826
I originally went in for 3 but I'm really debating if I should add more. Some of them look really good.
>>5975030
Kenner Young T-Rex, bonus points if it includes the dino-damage flap.
Thrasher Rex from TLW and Bull Rex are a must since they scale well with 1/12 - 1/10 figures as smaller tyrannosaurids like Albertasaurus (plus Bull can swallow figures). They're pricy though.
If Permian life is something you need figures of, there's Lycaeonops, Scutosaurus, Estomenosuchus, and the classic Dimetrodon.
Ornithosuchus is a fun figure too, make sure the dino-damage detachable-tail is still intact.
And of course the rubber and electronic Dilophosauruses are fun.
>>5975110
Thanks anon. I always liked the bull for it's eyes but didn't even know it could eat dudes. Well worth the price IMO
>>5961269
>>5961266
What strikes me is, that the sculptor just copied the Papo Ankylosaurs.
It looks like a chinese knock-off from papo.
>Tastes like chicken
>>5980003
Well, if it's ceratopsians you're wanting, David Silvas might be doing those next year in a new Kickstarter for the BotM line.
>>5981534
Dropped my pic.
>>5980003
>bitching about recent Raptors toys
>in a dinosaur /toy/ general
What the fuck do you expect? It's literally the most notable series of dino action figures being developed right now with the deadline reaching at November, so of course it's going to be talked about. Raptors aren't even my most favorite species of dinos and you don't see me throwing a bitchfit over this.
If you want to talk about something else then do it, else you're just being a faggot screaming for attention.
>>5981542
Well nobody gives a shit about those things, that Kickstarter's gonna bomb.
>>5980003
Wow, you are pathetic.
@5980003
I'm not even going to give you a (You)
>>5981606
The first one did pretty good though, what are you talkin about?
>>5982041
Ignore him.
Anyone seen more of the JW hybrids?
>>5943300
I ended up going for these four-- the last one took forever to pick
I wasn't gonna get a dio set, but that young troodon is hella cute
might also pick up some babbies
>>5986605
Yeah, kid-troodon is growing on me...As well as Microraptor. Wait, would that Microraptor be 1:1 scale? lol
>>5986635
pocketraptor
>>5982430
The only one I keep seeing is the green T-Rex one. Beyond that, stores around my area are slowly phasing out the JW figures.
>>5943300
I'm thinking of getting one raptor from each environment and that matching accessory pack, though I'm not sure which raptors yet.
the mononykus is a dumb looking animal, but it comes with the protoceratops skull base...
>>5942758
never ever
i've bought a bootleg gon from ebay and painted it up as a gift for my wife along time ago
>>5988604
looked like this painted
>>5988604
Looks decent.
>>5988626
i remember the seller being thai
yup primed to paint and their kinda hard-ish
had to heat up the torso to pop the limbs and head in
>>5988601
Thanks for pouring salt in the wound, bastard.
This is currently what I'm going for plus one more of the accessory packs, I'm waiting to see them painted up and finished before I decide which. I'm really digging the fan's pyroraptor as well, but ultimately would rather stick to a group that looks color wise similar.
>>5993381
>but ultimately would rather stick to a group that looks color wise similar.
Huh not bad anon, I like your idea.
>>5993381
You know, judging by the pics of the backerkit accessory packs I think young Troodon could scale perfectly for a 1/12 adult Troodon. Microraptor might pass for a 1:1 scale young Archaeopteryx if you swapped its legs with another little raptor, no clue on the rest
Are these raptors for sale already or they still on Kickstarter phase?
>>5995644
Still KS, but they'll be available in time.
>>5995644
The Kickstarter ended, but you can pre-order stuff if you missed out on the Kickstarter phase. David is also asking backers what they think about opening up the blue Velociraptor for pre-orders (it was an exclusive for backers only).
>>5982041
People only care about raptors.
>>5996068
Triceratops and friends are next. If that's true the KS won't succeed. We will see.
>>5996068
and T-rex
>>5996107
This too.
>>5996100
Ceratopsians are way more interesting than raptors, they will have a lot more visual difference vs the raptors who to the average person probably think there's little more than paint difference in these raptor figures.
He stated there will be multiple scales (so the figures themselves will probably all be around the same size) which might cut back on all ins but through the raptor KS there's so few all in's I doubt varying scale will have much of an effect.
>>5944941
>Decent Devil Dino for my Marvel display
Interesting.
