>>
>>5940956
Sorry man, but I do agree that it sounds more like a case of hamhanding.
>>
So I haven't collected transformers in a long time and really want some of the masterpiece figures.

However watching a few YouTube reviews I saw that one big issue os the rubber tires cracking and breaking apart.

Is this really a big issue or is it just a few instances of bad QC?
>>
>>5940999
Except that it was literally because I was attempting to be gentle with it and pull out the tabs from the vehicle that led to the smaller tab breaking?

Do you not know what a design flaw is?

>>
>>5941017
>whining about hasbro when discussing a design that both hasbro and takara are using
That's a bit stupid...
>>
>>5941005

The long and short of it is rubber is a shit material for a toy. It degrades. How fast it degrades is dependant on a bunch of factors, like where you live, light, heat, humidity, where the toy was stored, when the rubber was made, etc.

So rubber on a toy could go to shit in a few years, or it could last a lifetime. You won't know until it crumbles on you. Same with diecast. Retards think it's great, anyone who actually knows anything will tell you it's shit.
>>
>>5940938
Are the electronics fucked? It probably doesn't matter to you but you can always bargain a few bucks off if the electronics are fucked, and they usually will be fucked if the owner did not remove the batteries.
>>
>>5941025
We are going through the usual cycle. Once some takara-fag hamhands his piece too we'll just jump to whining about how they are made in the same factories, fuck vietnam, make sentinel trump again, etc.

Kind of. At the top of the gun, on one side, is a hole the same size as the footpegs for the Headmasters. You can peg it there, and it'll kind of stay. But it's easy to knock off and looks pretty silly.

Kind of an oversight imo to not have a better way of pegging the gun to his alt mode. Still a good toy regardless.

Anyone here use those combiner hip ratchet upgrades from nonnef?
>>
>>5941072
You're gonna have to destroy a couple of parts from Silverbolt's arm to do that. I wouldn't put that Japanese version personally through that since one fuck up and you can't really replace that Silverbolt anymore.
>>
>>5941070
I tried that before but the small hole started showing stress marks so I don't use that anymore. Currently, I'd just flip out his left hand and attach the rifle like a silly-looking turret.
>>
So, how's the new Powermaster Prime?
>>
>>5941077
yeah, they say on the store page that getting them inside silverbolt takes some destruction and I'm not exactly comfortable with that.

Well just get the PE hands and feet and it should give you a wider range. Vangelus had that video on those ratchet pieces and after watching it I just didn't bother.
>>
>>5941114
Yeah I kind of get the impression that any floppiness as a result of the ratchets could be alleviated by using PE feet (which I actually ordered and expected to get here before Superion)

They don't seem all to worth it but at the same time they're like 2 bucks

Well, as well as anyone can ride on Groove really. I'm sure he'd fall off if I didn't have him balanced properly. It's mostly due to his hollow back legs used for transformation, it gives him a ridiculous knee bend capability, so he can scrunch up enough to ride Groove.

>>
>>5941301
He doesn't have a submarine mode though, seem stupid to want him have something hes never had.
>>
>>5941308

Thats the joke. They're just giving him his regular gun mode, flipping it upside down, and calling it a submarine so they can get past any potential red tape for making a "gun" figure, even if Sixshot's gun mode looks nothing like a real gun.
>>
>>5941318
That's not the point being discussed.

>>5941308

He was also never a Headmaster.

Quickswitch has a sea-going mode. Frankly to me it seems an omission.

...I wonder if they'll ever make another official Quickswitch.

Quickswitch is rumored to be coming as a remold of Sixshot, so it's very likely. Kill 2 birds with one stone, get both 6 changers done, and get a "submarine" thats just a flipped over gun mode so it's "safe" to sell without the stigma of a gun mode.

>>
>>5941451

>>
>>5941347
It's due to the circumstances of everyone in the line being a headmaster that sixshot had to become one, and the circumstances of how Sixshot's gun mode is labeled a "submarine mode" are due to US gun laws.

I haven't bought any of the stand alone TM's, all my headmasters are from the Deluxes/Voyagers/etc. As for Legends, I own the Seekers, Cosmos, Wheelie, Swerve, Shockwave, the 2 Insecticons and Chopshop, Groove, Blackjack/Hotrod, and Rewind. They're all fairly decent for the price.

>>5941737
I have him, within two hours of opening pic related broke.

Several others ITT and also on TFW have reported similar things

Basically the general consensus is that it's a QC error that occurs in the factory when they pin that entire joint. Due to the plastic making up the hinge/the plastic being too thin it can crack/stress to varying degrees during insertion.

Basically, if you're gonna get him, make sure the place you buy him from accepts returns

QC's probably not the exact word we need here. Most issues probably come from the mold itself since problems seem to be the norm rather than the exception.
>>

Unfortunate? He's pretty good

>>
>>5942098

I dunno. We've seen blatantly mismolded Astrotrain parts, Skullcruncher's infamously loose thigh swivels and leg ball joints, the malformed claw pets for him as well, some weird looseness in Sentinel that Astrotrain doesn't have...

Then again, it could be the molds, but to be that widespread because of a mold, shouldn't that have been caught with a test figure from the mold or something?
>>
>>5942100
The toy itself is good. The cockpit design is not
>>
>>5942104
Must have been an issue with yours. Mine's cockpit hatch has no stress marks anywhere, and on paint, no section's rubbing off (but I'm a complete autist with that so I'm extremely careful about that kind of thing).
>>
>>5942103
You need time and $$ to rework a steel mold. The execs probably find it not big enough an issue to delay the launch. Timeframe is probably what we saw going from CW Deadend ---> CW Streetwise
>>
>>5941070

Both of those look worse than just putting it on top of the cannon. I don't understand how it's an "oversight" that they didn't include a place to store the gun, when in fact they did, and you're both just looking for worse alternatives.
>>
>>5942098
I know it's just my subjective experience, but I honestly have had no QC problems with any of the figures I've picked up, I think it's a damn shame that people are having these issues but the figures are great when they are normal.
>>
>>5942146
If you have a Walmart/Target nearby that actually stocks their shelves, then you have a pretty good chance of getting a good figure... eventually. Many copies will end up being swapped and returned, but Hasbro deserves it frankly.

You know, I don't get you people.

I thought you'd be happy to have the gun mode still included, even if it DOES have another name. They could have easily made a different configuration entirely. But if they had, all of you would just be crying that the gun mode was left out.

Well they gave you the gun mode. And you aren't under any obligation to call it a submarine. So what's the problem? Why do you still need to bitch? You're getting what you want, naming aside.

Don't tell me that people wouldn't complain if there wasn't the gun mode at all. I'll take Hasbro to task on many things. But this is ONE time that they actually did right by us. It's not their fault overprotective parents are such easily offended pussies

As far as we know, there could have been a bunch of other issues that they did fix. Priority for the time and money probably went to bigger issues, like Mindwipe's legs not pegging in properly (which they solved with rubber plastic).
>>
>>5941356

Im having trouble why the gun mode would not be allowed. With G1 Megatron, I suppose I can see how some stupid child might get shot if he pulled it on a cop or someone with a real gun. Even though this could easily be addressed by parents bothering to teach their kids the common sense God gave gravel. If theyre that damn stupid, our gene pool doesn't need them anyway.

But Shockwave? Sixshot? How in God's name could ANYONE possibly mistake those for real guns?

In other news, kids were completely safe holding and playing with realistic looking guns pre-90s

Not that kids today have any problems, because almost everyone understands that context matters.
Which is why idiots get shot just reaching into their pants/coat to try and just point a finger while being chased/confronted by cops who got called on their ass for committing a crime.

but soccermoms, politicians, and the news media can't into context, thus BAN EVERYTHING.

It's the loaded gun made in the late 80s from all the school shootings in NYC and the general 90s mind set of "Think of the children". We started to obsess over their safety so it turn into "any change that might save a life is worth it"
That's the uphill fight you will never win because what you are asking for is just a plastic toy to wax off nostalgia thus removing it only hurts your inner child rather than being that most recent NJ cop shooting where the kid had a toy gun that look real and the kid was killed, in the hypothetical world where the toy gun didn't exist the kid would have lived

>1987, Leonard Falcon, a 19-year-old boy from Rancho Cucamonga, California, was shot and killed by a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Deputy, while playing with a laser tag gun, which resembled a real gun.

>In 1987, a 12-year-old boy was shot and killed by a police officer in San Francisco, California. His toy gun was mistaken for real gun.

>In 1983, a 5-year-old boy was shot and killed at his home, by an Orange County Police Officer because he was holding a toy gun.

Personally I think Megatron turning into a gun as his only alt mode is kinda dumb. Not because MUH CHILLDRUNS but because it just seems like a dumb alternate mode for the leader of the Decepticons to have. Oh sure, transform into something that needs someone else to use it to be useful. It's like Darth Vader turning into his own lightsabre for Moff Tarkin to wield.

Now I don't have a problem with gunformers per se- I do like Shockwave as a raygun (though largely because with a bit of transformation finagling it can become a sort of "laser emplacement" and I still prefer him as a vehicle) and 'bots with a gun mode AND a vehicle mode are fine. I just find the idea of Megatron, the goddamn Emperor of Destruction, turning into a handheld firearm ludicrous.

I didn't watch G1 as a kid so Megs as a tank always seemed much better to me.
>>
>>5942456
Remember, each of the original g1 transformers had origins before transformers, he would of gotten shoehorned as leader because of how edgy he looked in robot mode (once cleaned up), I mean the original purpose of the toy was 1:1 of robot and handgun, not the mass shifting fuckery he is.

This is why I actually want an mp g2 megatron, but it won't happen because it wasn't animated and hasbro dropped the ball and repainted the generations legends class as (or rather a con exclusive) and not the leader which would of been perfect.

I like the idea of megatron being a tank now despite my geewun bias, just a shame there are plenty of other tank formers that diminish how special he could of been, now its just the general bucket head design that makes him iconic when he becomes anything else
>>
>>5942463
I like the idea of him pulling a Blitzwing with jet and tank alt modes, since he did have a jet alt mode in Prime. But the shitty gray plastic and stickers of the TR version are just pathetic.
>>
>>5942464
I personally hate it just because its a cheap reuse of the mold that they put out first using a well known character to recoup mold cost, I hope its more than just a new head retool ala sentinel prime.

I got the leader anyway, which does the job quite nicely (but I'm also cursed with the thrilling 30 blitzwing, its unique at least but its not GEEWUN enough, gonna need to coin flip to keep both or sell off my dodgily chested friend)
>>
>>5942463
Yeah I know what you mean. Funny thing is that G1 Megs' robot mode looks awesome. I just don't like him as a gun. I know WHY they did it, I just don't like it.

I'm planning on making a custom Megatron out of a Universe 2.0 Dropshot myself. I got a friend of mine to design a head on Shapeways, so once I've got an airbrushing setup and I've fully disassembled him I'll get him painted and I'll have my ideal Megatron. He turns into a kinda-sorta TOS Burianto, AKA a giant rocket launcher on treads, and his robot mode will have 2 arm cannons thanks to the transformation. Plus it's just an awesome mold in general, I'm surprised the Club never made a Megatron out of it.

>>5942464
Yeah, hopefully the Legends line will give him a shiny silver paintjob. Honestly if they weren't going to give him silver paint they should have made the plastic a nice solid matt grey like the cartoon rather than that shitty "metallic grey" plastic they use so much these days.
>>
>>5942468
There's no indication Takara will even use the mold as Megatron, is there? They never did Sentinel Prime.

Well the current version of the mold does have Megatron-specific sculpted detail, so it's possible that they have Blitzwing chest tooling prepared.
>>
>>5942472
I'm not sure which side you're arguing for.
>>
>>5942473
Well the chest panel could get a change which would be nice, and the main weapon...

Another gripe of mine is the tank modes actual barrel length, its too short, would blitzwing come with an extension that acts as a main barrel without being a megatron repaint, would he just get a longer barrel?

Another gripe is how the wings fold for the tank mode but that's an issue with the design, once again a triple changer has a weaker mode, it reminds me of T30's design a little (though i wonder about how they fold, if one side of those wings exposed in tank mode could be repainted in the same color as the tank they could hide very well)
>>
>>5942474
the side where understanding context matters
aka, toy guns are safe as long as you're not committing a crime and that soccermoms should be held accountable for their overreactions when calling the cops on kids for playing with toy guns
>>
>>5942482
>soccermoms should be held accountable for their overreactions when calling the cops on kids for playing with toy guns

Half the time its the cops shooting the kids dead that are the real blame, soccermoms wouldn't know shit and would be safer that someone called rather than assuming...ASSUMING whatever someone weird is doing with a hand held gun shaped object is safe.

Why is it that American cops seem overly reactionary, they need more education on identifying threats, that one where he shot AN UN-ARMED BLACK MAN WHO WAS A CARER FOR AN AUTIST WHO WAS PLAYING WITH A TOY TRUCK THAT WAS ASSUMED TO BE A GUN (supposedly it was g1 menasor) THAT WAS LYING DOWN WITH HIS ARMS UP IN THE AIR SAYING "DON'T SHOOT"?

I don't like police being disarmed due to all these stupid movements, what they need is better threat identification training and exhausting all other options before opening fire, aren't they armed with tasers?

I don't like soccermoms either btw, I seen the shit they do, even vilifying adult toy collectors because they assumed they were pedo's, but the fact is better threat ID training and handling is required, not this shoot first ask questions later mentality

I think the vehicle modes look fine in some pictures, is it possible that the gray we've seen is just affected by bad lightning?
>>
>>5942493
The dark grey sections are fine, the problem is the lighter stuff that's just straight plastic and no dye in it, makes them look unfinished.

That and the leader's glorious silver in comparison doesn't help, I don't get what takara and hasbro do, lighter shades usually look like shit, look at tr blaster's legs, why inject them with glitter, look at mp starscream, why the swirls, why not a flatter plastic (if I had the takara henkei deluxe I would use to compare as in pictures it looks nice but I can't confirm shit).

I guess we're doomed in lighter shades
>>
>>5942489
>soccermoms wouldn't know shit
Except these idiots see the kids just playing around and they usually even say "its just a toy gun but go do something about them making too much noise!" type shit

>Why is it that American cops seem overly reactionary
Because they all watch that video about that vietnam vet who fucks around with a cop, which progresses into the vet getting tired of being screamed at and just shooting the cop dead.
Also, that other video of a cop not watching two guys step out of a car and overpower him.
Cops are trained to be very aggressive now and get a lot of training for drawing their gun instinctively.

Megatron does something they don't, color breakup AND while its a crap choice its appropriate.

You look at blurr and while vehicle mode its varied (still all blue, but different shades) the robot only has piss tiny sections that break it up, same for scourge.

Already for megatron he has simply more color breakup by default, the dark grey contrast with the lighter tone, then we get the red markings, so far, on par with scourge and blurr.

The robot mode however REALLY shines in comparison, you got a GLOSS BLACK crotch with black hands (pretty sure the showroom model was glossy but even then it stood out more than the grey), then you get a small splotch of red in the abs with a tiny yellow bit, the shins going red and black are a very nice touch.

I won't deny, the grey they used is shit, but the color separation already puts them ahead of the blue guys, and the best part?

He isn't over doing it like takara's blurr (accurate or not they coulda done less and still smashed the hasbro)

Wave 2 is in full swing in Australia and since there is a sale on I grabbed a chromedome.

The qc is top notch for the most part (apart from flicking one of the fist out when I was transforming, nearly stepped on that loose fist), I really wanted to complete the hasbro set but the whole brainstorm thing bugs me, that and I already got 3 of the legends versions.

So I'm gonna dissect him and make a trans minerva, I'd love to do a fitting nightbeat but I can't be fucked doing a flame job on the side when a big red cross is easy enough to do via masking, and no reprolabels, I want the finished product playable.

Unless anyone else has any suggestions, I may or may not post it, hell I might not change a thing, I'm still working on a custom gator-tron and that's still in the primer stage.

My only complaint is the all red face on the TM figure, even hasbro's skullcruncher had a dot of paint, but I can't really complain when my astrotrain is fine if only because I give no fucks that he's a titan master now
>>
>>5942591
>legends brainstorm
lol
>>
>>5942592
I didn't like the face either but my legends pre-order came almost a month before they hit my country, I wanted a complete team and I'm not willing to break it up (I was fine with either hardhead and skullcruncher's faces compared to hasbro which is why Ieft it up to luck).

I gotta live with $40aud figures compared to the $20aud ones I can get back home, least wave 3 won't have that problem (unless they retool getaway for his legends release but who knows)
>>
>>5942551

Are TR/Legends Brainstorm and Chromedome worth getting?

I've got the other ones, and kinda consider getting the full Headmasters cast.
>>
Ah shit, Legends Weirdwolf just went up for sale and immediatly sold out (I had to pick him or legends FM, I picked FM) hope I can still get him by wednesday, somewhere.
>>
>>5942601
Chromedome is fine, does remind you of the cw breakdown mold though.

Brainstorm...if you had blurr you know what to expect mold wise.

Otherwise complete the cast, it won't get any better than this
>>
Did Sentinel get a japanese release? And i'm not meaning the Astrotrain repaint.
>>
>>5942602
What are you doing anon, I had him on pre-order with hlj and it took them 2 days to give me one.

But hay, you got the best fort max.

>>5942604
The head went to e-hobby convoybat, there won't be a japanese sentinel prime (least in the foreseeable future)
>>
>>5942598
No
>>
>>5942601
You mean the toys in general? That is, this isn't a TR vs Legends decision?

If so, then go ahead and get them. They're good toys, they complement their castmates well, and getting more Titan Masters doesn't hurt.

Although if you're sick of the Dead End/Streetwise mold, you might not enjoy Chromedome as much.

>>
>>5942608
>That is, this isn't a TR vs Legends decision?

Not really, i've only really bought the Legends deluxes because my country is shit at getting transformers in. I've seen the Masters and Scouts in shops, but no deluxes.

all my Masters, Scouts and Sentinel are the TR release.
>>
>>5942609
Just use the one gun and toss out the gunsled, its just shoehorned in to make the deluxes uniform.

Hardhead and skullsmasher got those right, making them part of their own bodies rather than an addon.

As for the pre-order stalk hlj, hobbysearch and amiami, on release day IF you see in stock buy that shit, if you fail you'll need to pay mandarake a visit, they do show up there but prices may vary despite being "second hand"
>>
>>5942606
I was trying to get him from a domestic shop to avoid import tax, though in hindsight he probably wouldn't be affected by that. I guess I should set up accounts on the japanese sites to avoid this in the future. Hopefully ebay is kind to me.

I actually missed out on Scourge and Weirdwolf from hlj to begin with, then they went back on preorder.

Maybe these two will become available again at some point.

If that fails I can always get the TR version.
>>
>>5942615
>ebay
Well its kinda than walgreens brainstorm but I'd stalk mandarake first, there are japanese collectors that loose it when the boxes are damages in ANY WAY so they offload them to those guys, if you're lucky someone would of sat on one and you'd get a good price

You're lucky you can access domestic shops that stock them, I'm lucky to find mp's locally

Not him but only the TM face on SOME are unpainted, both hasbro and takara FACES are painted, just one set is trying to do a modernized/g1 toy look (skullmasher is up for debate on what he's supposed to be) while takara is trying to emulate the show look.

Some want the attachment of the characters, some want what idw/g1 toy nostalgia gave them, we have a choice, and those will to go takara are willing to pay the difference and get the exclusive redeco (tm) of the titan master triple changer gun set.

Wanting the toy to have all six original modes, since that's what most consumers want from the toy.

I'm curious as to what they do on takara's side, because the purple section is facing backwards from the g1 toy, will they also call it a sub, or will they show someone holding him like a gun.

If they too call him a sub I'll begin to suspect the flaps that make the handle are too weak to be held like a gun

Occam's Razor basically is a thought technique to cut away all extraneous explanations, ie, the simplest explanation that covers all the facts is the preferable one. Notice -all- is an operative term here.

It was invented by a monk by the name Robert of Occam, who ironically was opposing attempts to prove the existence of God by rational means. He favored the irrational, I guess.
