If the game was actually finished it might have been good. What we got was literally less than half of the game. The open worlds were supposed to be bigger and have more to do in them, a Soviet Union area was already finished but didn't work on PS3 and 360 so it was cut, and fourth and fifth locations of NYC and Outer Heaven were never finished. Alongside all of that was a playable real Big Boss in some story sections. There were cutscenes from the trailers that never made it in game. What we did get was shit too, Skull Face was an awful villain and Volgin and Mantis had no reason to be there

It wasn't. Just because it's not what you expected doesn't make it shit, nor does the fact that it released as it was. The gameplay is the best the series has ever had--which is pretty important considering it's a fucking video game, and the variability/replayability is great.

actually the fact that the gameplay is amazing (with the box's options being the best we will ever have in any metal gear game) with so empty maps makes it feel worse, and pretty disapointing.
but it's okay it's your opinion, and while the game has its really good parts, there's also flaws, so it's far from being perfect
as for the big medic thing, i found it lame at first but then i learn to accept it and even enjoy it, not seeing boss doing shit in the game was dissapointing though, since it could have been room for more varied stages and different areas

I totally agree that given what we know about what the game was intended to be, with those 2 or 3 locations cut, is totally disappointing. It's pretty apparent through the game that Konami just stopped waiting and funneling money for Kojima and just forced it out. I didn't mean to imply that the game is perfect; it's far from it. But that doesn't mean it isn't a great video game in its own right, in a vacuum.

I'm pretty sure they didn't put Mission 51 in the game because it was actually pretty stupid, and not because they didn't have time. There were way too many logical inconsistencies and it generally was really awkward. But I would have loved to have seen all the shit from the red band trailers in the game. And Venom never actually went nuclear.

But all that said, the game itself is great.

I had one when he first came out and wasn't a fan of a lot of things he had going on articulation wise, particularly the hips and shoulders. He looked pretty great though, so if you're mainly after something to put on a shelf or desk he's solid. Also, bbts has him for 40 if that makes it an easier choice.
