There is a fair way of why hasbro seems "cheaper", and they're smart to use existing media like IDW to explain this (since TR blurr matches his IDW colors).

Hasbro needs to pump these toys around the world and make them in greater numbers, and since blurr is all blue anyway they saw no need to use complicated color apps to decorate him since the intended audience (children) would rub it off sooner than later, where's takara caters for both kids and adults, since the perceived notion is the Japanese are more careful with their toys rather than their western counterparts, the fact they have a smaller population would also allow them to aim more funds into their paint apps.

Get takara if you must, but if it weren't for companies that ship abroad we'd never get "intended" Japanese versions, we can't complain about QC anyway, that's what the masterpiece is for, I just wish hasbro would release those more often and in higher numbers with customer purchase limits

Effort is listing all the release dates for upcoming toys, and its not really effort if you enjoy what you do and in a way we are special snowflakes, what other toys have full articulation and transformations as their main gimmick that is sold all over the world and not limited to some over priced Japanese line or model kit?

I can't help but appreciate what hasbro has to endure, they honestly make good fun desk toys, I can throw one in my work bag and not worry about the paint getting rubbed off on blurr, although I admit I was tempted by the upcoming hotrod since I really like him as a character, but I worry about the flame job on the hood coming off, wonder if a ziplock bag my protect him, or maybe leave him at home while the wife is out on Friday nights, only time me and my son can spend quality time playing transformers together since I'm working every other day

I think Voyager/Deluxe size is an alright size range for BW MPs.

They can't use a cartoon scale because they're like ants to G1 robots and toy scales would just come off as random. I think just picking an arbitrary size for Primal and working from there is the best course of action they can take.

It's funny, because the first time I walked into my local TRU, I wasn't expecting to find anything because we never get shit on time, and all I found was a single Hardhead, hanging amidst a slew of CW and RiD shelfwarmers. I wasn't even planning to buy him, but seeing him was a sign, and a good one, too. He's one of my favorite retail purchases in years.

The hasbro sticker sets are a massive improvement, they even included the symbol for the space under the windscreen chest.

In hand the mold is solid, and the sparkly blue plastic works if you're into that sorta thing, its diehards and those who are used to higher end figures (especially from the past like pic related even though its not that far higher end) that craze more from what should be dollar store figures.

Get what you like and cherish it, just don't be a dick and spout on how your one is better than the other, some see the value, custom potential and the simple engineering, others want a bit more, and willing to pay more for it, for each their own

Grand Galvatron is one of my absolute favorites. You get a retool of the best torso, Rook in sexy silver, and a Ghost Starscream, though the clear plastic is a fair detractor for some.

Also UW Computicon. Sexy colors and 4 of the five molds are absolute joys. Between those two, you'll have all the Combiner molds worth owning, save a Dead-end.

UW Blastoff can't keep his shins together for arm mode, he also looks a bit out of place with the team, but has a g1 accurate altmode and face, CW Blastoff is a better arm but its a jet repaint. other than that the combiners are pretty much the same, just choose whatever deco you like best.

The UW Bruticus suffers from a few QC issues. Also, Blastoff (AKA Fatoff) doesn't look as great as people were hoping, and his coloring is way off. Everything else is up for debate though. Some people think CW's colors look better, some people think UW's colors looks better. It's completely up to you.

Personally, I like the CW version because I don't like the way UW Blastoff looks (I have nothing against the mold, I have UW Strafe and think he's an awesome figure), I like CW Onslaught, Brawl, and Swindle's colors better, and I'm indifferent towards Vortex having 4 blades vs. 2. My only real gripe with the CW Bruticus set is the fact that Hasbro didn't even bother to throw a faceplate on Blastoff. I get that they were too cheap to make another mold for him, and that a plan logically makes more sense than a space shuttle, but fuck, they could have at least used the Firefly mold if all they were going to do was throw on a new coat of paint.

I was looking at both versions and while overall I like the CW deco more, UW blastoff having a unique mold appealed to me a bit more.
But if UW blastoff is crap than I might as well stay away from UW Bruticus.

It seems like Bruticus, Computron and Superion are winners here for me then. Grand Galvatron is neat but yeah ghost Starscream doesn't do quite as much for me.

If you just want it for Blast Off you're better off waiting if Hasbro will do a proper shuttle version from that extra line that they release every May like Slingshot,Wildrider, and Groove.

I just got one because like I said in the other thread a buddy just offered to me for a $100 CAD and a couple extra figs that I got from doing trades here and there. IF I had to pay $200 on that I wouldn't have bothered since I don't even like Bruticus and originally had no intention of even getting the CW.

Is RID2015 Windblade worth picking up? TRU has a single one and it looks decent. It's very red and I don't like the face at all.

Summary of UW Chapter 3: Megatronia (this was posted on the wiki)

Trickdiamond gathers Lunaclub and Moonheart to declare that the time has come to rescue their sealed-away empress, Megaempress. She's irked that they're doing their nefarious plotting in Lunaclub's room, filled as it is with posters and merchandise of Starscream, and Lunaclub protests that it's just because her big sister Moonheart refused to lend them hers. The group's plan is to make their way into Shockwave's base and awaken their leader, as the seal was undone when Cybertron exploded. Moonheart is suspicious of Trickdiamond's presence, seeing as she only cares about money, but Trickdiamond assures her that she too wants to experience Megaempress's greatness. The three fight their way past Shockwave's Sentinels and locate Megaempress, slumbering together with her most loyal soldier, Flowspade. On being awakened, Megaempress requests that they update her on the current state of the Decepticons.

In the year 2021, Megaempress leads her 4 Guards to the battle between Lynxmaster and Grand Galvatron, using her fusion railgun to disassemble the Autobot combiner. Ironhide and Prowl recognize her as the Decepticon empress who once dominated Megatron himself and came close to taking control of the Decepticons before Shockwave sealed her away. Faced with the empress's power, Grand Galvatron's limb components panic and make a run for it, leaving Galvatron and Cyclonus alone with her. Having learned that Galvatron is Megatron, she tells her distressed "husband" that she's back to love him until the end, and that this time, Cybertron will be hers.

Trickdiamond merely watches from the sidelines, having no interest in fighting for Megaempress's sake and knowing her strength doesn't lie in fighting anyway, but in manipulation. She turns to Thrust, responsible for breaking her out of jail in exchange for her help in overthrowing Galvatron, and threatens to reveal his betrayal to Galvatron unless he lets her talk to Unicron.

I did say Fat off is lacking for the most part but that is not a representation of the whole set. 3/5 figures are really good and even if I say I dislike the Brawl mold for the waist, over all he should have been a great figure as well despite that gaping flaw.

Like I said, mixed bag of reactions and that mileage may vary since this is still a mass produced item. Oh and does it have the same problem as the Hasbro ones? I only got to play those a couple of times individually because of a buddy of mine has it so after getting the UW, this is the first time I actually looked into one deeply.

Anything that's bad is bound to have a "mixed reaction" unless it's downright god awful like X-Transbots Ollie or Sonicron or something. Even fucking Omnigonix had a "mixed reaction" thanks to apologists and sunk cost, and that's generally considered to be the absolute worst 3P figure of all time.

I had minor issues with my CW, mainly the Onslaught thigh lock, Vortex's port cracking, and Brawl's shoulders being a bit loose. All easily fixed save Vortex, and that's a widespread issue. And I considered those 3 combined to be bad issues that shouldn't exist.

Versus all the stuff you read in that thread.

I never said I ignore those, I try to be unbiased as much as I can that's why I weight in the pros and cons of things before even getting into them. If after reading all the pros and cons and you still go into it, you are taking a risk now and risk is just part of life. You cannot just say no ALL the time when there is something negative about it. You will have to compromise and find the middle ground to where you would be happy. If you don't want to buy the figure because of the cons then good for you--you saved money. BUT and here's a big one, if you still decide to buy that after all the bad things listed, you should accept that you are taking a risk getting it. Also I only got mine due to that reason I stated in my previous post and I was surprised that I actually enjoy it despite the known QC issues. Having options is a good thing though. I'm thinking of getting Jet Blast Off as well just so I got a variety of the character and that I could get easily for $10 at toyshows.
