Icons seem to go down a bit in price after release. I would imagine you'd see the same with a more expensive one. It's not Icons, but the BTAS Batmobile went down to like $65 at one point on Amazon, so I feel like that gives a pretty good indication of the marketing strength DC figures have on the higher price scale.

Thats an unfair comparison, because Marvel Selects are also very easy to get and go down in price too.
It's only old stuff that goes up in price and only because they lost the molds.

Almost all western collector toys are like that, because you can preorder them and theyre available just about any comic book store in the US, if not Barnes and Noble, Disney Store, and weird Hastings/Suncoast/Mediaplay stores that sell a mix of junk.

The only western toys that are hard to get and go up in price easily are those that are made in the hundreds of thousands and millions, like Marvel Legends or Star Wars toys. They go for so much money because of how random stores at getting stock.
If every store got their 50 cases they ordered on the same day, they'd be no ahrd to get toys See most movie lines before 2012*.

addendum: first and second waves were usually easy to get, because they literally had tons and tons and later waves were hard to get because of all the shelfwarmers clogging up shelves.

>>
>>5922051
Which one?
4chan has a default weekly archive which you can access from any board page or the catalog.
If you're talking about an archive akin to desuarchive, well, /toy/ has a couple but I can't remember them.
>>
Found an archive with /toy/ in it, though I can't tell exactly how far back it goes.

https://archive.nyafuu.org/
>>
>>5923866
Not very. It technically goes back to late-October of 2015, but there's a large gap between March and May/June.

There's also archived.org which has the same data essentially, then there's yuki.la which also starts in October 2015 but doesn't have this gap in data.

If you or anyone knows about any other archive that made their data public that could possibly make up for that, it'd be good to know.

>"Herp derp! Get him an old DCU figure, even though they're just about the same as as those shitty multiverse figures you didn't want and are not designed for children under the age of ten!

NO. DO NOT LISTEN TO THESE IDIOTS.

Get your 5-year old some Fisher-Price Imaginext Batman figures. They're sold everywhere & are are geared exactly to 5 years. Tough, cheap, and lots of play value.

For the price of one of those DCU Batmen on eBay, you can get a decent Batman & Batmobile at Wal-Mart. A DCU figure would break in a day while the Imaginext toys are build for kid smash & bash play. Plus, they have lots of cool missiles & moving parts that's enhances interactive play. What does a DCU have? Maybe a batarang.

Seriously, Imaginext in general is the most fun, kid friendly action figure line out there. GO WITH THIS.
>>
>>5924532
While the Imaginext figures are a lot of fun, a 5 year ld might just be on the borderline of wanting them. When I was that age, I wanted regular figures, not cutesy versions. Even my 2 1/2 year old nephew prefers my old superhero figures and Transformers to the playskool versions. Anecdotal evidence, sure, but the way a lot of kids start to play around that age involves a lot more movement on the figure itself and not playing with gimmicks.

Plus the DCUC stuff was sturdy as fuck. And the main reason the Multiverse stuff gets so much hate is due to the shitty sculpts. Early DCUC, at least, had the 4 Horsemen sculpting the figures, and they looked pretty damn nice.
>>
>>5924532
>A DCU figure would break in a day

no it wouldn't. The only thing I could see is a kid ripping the cape off. Say what you will about Matty and DCUC but the figures are pretty durable.

are busts and statues toys?
Does a figure/figurine have to be posable to be toy?
>>
>>5929971
>are busts and statues toys?
No on the first, but kind of yes on the second. A fixed pose McDonald's Happy Meal toy would be a toy without a doubt even though it has the characteristics of a statue, but one of those fixed pose Sideshow display statues with diorama bases wouldn't be. Neither would one of those Kotobukiya Bishoujo comic statues, for example. If there's a "play value" to it, it's almost certainly a toy.

>>5938249
Eh... sorta. The design is great. The fabric is great. But the accessory count is bullshit, especially since the only accessories are two sets of hands that are 97% identical.

The articulation is also really lacking. The head is on a fixed shaft balljoint, so it's really limited. The limbs pop off the body on a lot of them apparently, so that's a gamble. Mine does just that.

I would say it's a $40 figure, tops.

Just get regular fluid or soft body acrylics and thin them. Go for a quality brand like golden. It's literally the same shit but better, cheaper, more quantity. Oh and learn to mix your own colors. Dont buy yellow green #8. dont fall for the modeling paint jew meme.

were painting figures here bud if you're really concerned about UV degradation you wouldnt have your toys out in direct sunlight. The toy will likely be gone far before you hit any archival quality concerns.

As long as you arent buying shit tier craft paint. Toy factories are using much less quality paint for mass releases.

But please keep buying you expensive watered down craft paint. citadel loves you suckers. Oh wait did you forget to purchase our brand new yellow orange #1275?? Kek

Need some repair advice.

I just won an auction for a diabattles v2, essentially half price, or $80aud, for a defective part that was not disclosed, and I found it.

This little guy (circled in yellow) blocks the arm connector, granted I can wedge one arm in but trying to make it flush might block it up completely and since the point of the toy is its modular nature I wish to retain this feature.

I tried undoing the screws on the silver section but the upper section won't budge, so I'm basically down to using brute force, but how to apply brute force exactly?

>what are you on about
Looking at the other side, said grey piece is flush, this one sticks out, seems during assembly it missed its slot by an inch, if I were to apply downward force it would bend it further, if I can apply further pressure at the back end of the piece it might just slot into place (i already tried, the mark on the dark section is because i tried to apply force using a screw driver, it failed).

So how can I force that little bit down without full dissasembly, I'm scared of trying to unscrew him again because of the little motor thingie that raises the head, so I CAN'T try heating it up with water so soften it, unless someone has another idea?

TLDR trying to force the back end of grey plastic in pic related back into place without disassembling it unless someone has a video or something, google got shit other than praise or complaints about the price

>>
>>5979236
well the part in question isn't meant to move, it's just an inch out of alignment, I tried taking out the screws near the chest but it won't budge, I'm too scared to try for a controlled break as it has a friction mother inside and I don't want to unleash the wasp inside.

what it needs is to be knocked back into place, so it can fall into the tab slot it's meant to sit in, but I'm not sure how to proceed, resting him somewhere so I could hammer is difficult because of the clear parts and the moter thingie is nearby

>>
>>5990886
Building your detolf correctly will keep your shelves from wobbling.
>>
>>5990888
I'm not sure what you mean? There's a couple millimeters of space between the glass shelves and the outer walls. Not a lot you can do about that assembly-wise.

Maybe it's less of an issue on ground floors, but I live on the top and have dogs who always run around making the floor shake.

Anyone know what kind of glue would work well on the SIC Kamen rider figures? One of my figures had a broken leg joint right out of the box.

I tried Krazy Glue but it just seemed to discolor the black joint (so no big deal) but it didn't stick.

Any ideas?
