Has anyone else ever run into the issue of being unable to decide between a so-so nendoroid of a character you like and a really nice looking figure of a character you're only vaguely familiar with?

I'm eyeing a Totori nendoroid, but I can't bring myself to buy it because I don't think it really captures Kishida's art style all too well.

On the other hand, there just aren't Atelier nendoroids.

I've been finding cu-poches to be cheaper on the aftermarket. I have 3 and didn't pay more than 25 for any of them. I prefer them for the poseability, but nendoroids just have so many more characters it's hard not to like at least some of them.

Yeah, some of the poches can be found for a good price on the aftermarket, but the same happen with some nendos.
I agree with you about the poseability of poches, and all the extras bodies and accessories that Koto have been pulling out helps a lot, the possibility of dress them with fabric clothes is something I really find cute/cool.

I'm planning on customising my first Nendoroid soon. Mostly sanding and repainting, with a tiny amount of putty work.

Can anyone recommend any decent tutorials for this kind of thing? I've found a few on MFC, but a few more can't hurt.

Hello, i'm fairly new to collecting.

I started buying Nendoroids early last month and now i currently have 12 in my possession with 7 more on the way from AmiAmi. Despite staying away from pre-owned Nendoroids, boatgirls, Vocaloids, slice-of-life characters, and idols (with the sole exception of my waifu) i feel like my collection is growing much faster than i originally anticipated.

Yeah, I lurk /toy/ about 20 minutes each day or so. A little bit in the morning and a little at night. It's not like there are dozens of Nendoroid threads I might miss through a day. There will be 1 thread that I have to catch up on. And yes, every few days or every new Nendoroid thread, the same post pops up about being new to this "slippery slope".

Currently sitting on 54 nendos with three more on PO; FGO Saber, Hotaru, and Mumei. I bought my first nendo, lazy Saber, back in 2007 when GSC started showing off their Haruhi nendos. When new buyfags start collecting nendos, its fairly normal for them to start out with a splurge of a bunch of them. 12 over the course of the past month is a bit on the heavy side, but considering your no mikushit/boatshit/non-waifu idolshit policy for your collection, as long as you got them on a good deal and without financially crippling yourself, then it's fine.

Also, you should really consider pre-owned nendos. You can really net some great deals on common or hard fo find nendos. Amico and Mandarake have a few gems every now and then. Private sellers on MFC are also good too if you take the time to do a bit of detective work on the sellers and ask them the right questions prior to purchasing.

I have four.
379 Mami in School Uniform, 217 Kyouko Sakura, 209 Sayaka Miki, and 327 Shizue

I'm having a lot of fun with them. I've always stayed away from figures because of their joints. I was always a statue-fag. Nendoroids hide their joints pretty well though so I guess I tolerate their joints. The head seam really bothers me somewhat though.

I also buy little furniture for them from the Sylvanian Families line of toys.

I started collecting when I visited Japan for a holiday and ended up buying the Mami nendo. I decided I wanted to collect them. Which was around 6 months ago.

I'm brand new to Nendoroids, and am looking to buy my first one off eBay, Sega Saturn (Hi School Version). I know enough that fakes are everywhere online, so I'm having trouble figuring out the cheapest one shipped to the US. I see one for $27 sold by shin0006, but I'm skeptical because they offer refunds for fakes. 2055 100% feedback, though. I really don't want to get immediately burned by this hobby so if anyone can recommend a seller that has Saturn in stock, that'd be great.
