to be fair, the sandtrooper is sculpted well, but it relies on your own skill to make it look good and even then, it's only as good as the Hasbro version, or not you're just going to stick on stickers to it.
So 23 dollars for a flat looking stickered kit or 20 dollars for an already made figure that looks good out of the box.

Arguably, you can weather the kit, but you can do the same shit to the Hasbro figure too.

Collector figures have always been easier to get than mass market toys, east or west.
This is because you've always been able to order a specific figure when it comes out.

With mass market waves, a case includes a variety of other figures. So if you want Deadpool, a case only comes with 2 of him out of 8 other figures. So you're pretty limited in how you can order them.
Whereas with collector toy, there can be ten Deadpools per case, and can easily meet demand without being bogged down with extra figures that may or may not be wanted.

Basically, anyone who wants a collector figure can get it. Unless it's limited in numbers, it's incredibly rare for a collector figure to ever become hard to get for the year of its release. Even figures like Mezco Batman that sold out within months of its release was reissued because of demand, giving even late comers a chance to get it without paying scalper fees like mass market figures that are highly popular.

I guess it depends on what you mean by "play with". If by play you mean posing them and displaying them, kits and import figures are fine. But if you mean bashing them against each other, American figures are less articulated and less detailed, but much more durable. A decent rule of thumb is the less articulation a figure has, the more durable it is, which is why figures made for younger kids only have five points of articulation if you're lucky.

This is why you should always buy toys in person. There's no luck involved, just buy one that doesn't have a derpy face.
I know a lot of you defend the Figuarts like crazy because you already bought into it before you actually saw what it would look like by preordering it. So you need to defend your poor selection and then try to forget about how crazy defensive you were when or if Bandai decides to make another.

What are the best 6" han and chewbacca? Also what are the best 'light side' figures available? Want to get a second display case and separate figures into light/dark but i've not got enough good guys.

It's the kit, and the stand is a Stage Act .4. They just plug into the back of the figures.

AFAIK Black Series is it for Han and Chewie right now. IMO they're two of the best Star Wars figures Hasbro has released so you wouldn't be wasting your money.

If you don't mind waiting, SH Figuarts Han was recently announced for February 2017 (seen here: >>5889252 ). Chewie and the droids have had Figuarts prototypes for a while, but there's really no way of knowing when, or even if they'll ever be made available.
