>>

No he will only come with closed fist and grasping hand for shield and sword. the open hand has a peg for holding the bomb and rupee, since it does not come with it, its not included.

fucker is pretty small. disappointing by no way to bend him the slights forward or backward for posing. hookshot pot and rupee make the dx version worth it though.

Anyone else disappointed over the lack of maskless Meta Knight?
>>
Found myself a Skull Kid. He's always been a favorite character of mine so I've been looking forward to this figure since it was announced and I'm pretty happy with it. His joints are floppy as shit, but I'm pleased with the amount of articulation he has. Pretty much every joint swivels in some way except the ankles. It's be awesome if he had a joint in his torso and a better neck joint, since he's in a slightly pre-posed position in the way he leans back and to the side.

I want to get a hold of a second one and try doing a little dry brush painting on him. He looks nice and all, but I think he could look way better with the bare plastic spruced up a bit.

Play nice kids.

Okay, so Link...my only complaint is he could've used an ankle rocker or something (I hate twisting the peg around just to get the right tilt needed).

Also TONS AND TONS of tiny itty bitty teeny weeny pegs that you should totally be fucking careful with. Every handle comes apart, every brace, every knob. Be gentle!

And gay.
>>
>>5878520
How does he compare to other Link figures?
>>
>>5878561

Better than Jakks, about the same as Skyward Sword Link? I mean he moves in just about every way exactly, I kind of wish his 'angry face' was more expressive, as it is, there's not a huge difference. It's more an annoyed/serious face.

He's just smaller. Which I guess makes sense, as he's younger, if I'm not mistaken.
>>
>>5878520

DOES THE BRACELET COME OFF
>>
>>5878566
Two more questions. Are the joints and the accessories fragile? And can Skyward Sword Link hold any of those accessories?
>>
File: compare.jpg (131KB, 1100x1024px) Image search: [Google]
compare.jpg
131KB, 1100x1024px
>>5878574

Sure does! Makes it kind of a bitch putting the hands on, cause it wants to slide off while you're trying to push, while not pushing the wrong way and breaking the goddamn peg.

>>5878577

The joints on Link don't feel fragile. The accessories, again, do have A LOT of tiny pegs. Everything seems to come apart to allow him to hold it or grasp it easier. So yes, I would be ultra careful with those.

And there's no reason he couldn't use the accessories I don't think...uh, they're a bit smaller, but no less in scale really.
>>
>>5878566
I'd say his skirt works much worse than SS link's, especially for forward hip movement. He also has no lower neck joint. Both of their torsos are garbage, too. Still a neat figure, just needed some of the articulation figured out better.
>>
>>5878588
Thanks for the info pal. I'll probably hold off on getting him until he gets an inevitable reissue in the near future

Finally got a metroid, it's like twice as big as I thought it would be.

I managed to get it on walmart.com before it sold out, (all they have left is from 3rd party sellers) and had it shipped to my closest store. I didn't even know you could do that. I'll get skull kid that way when the stock him.

I also found my 4th red pikmin. still hunting for other colors...
>>
Just got my LBTW Figma Link as well. First thoughts

- Yes, Bracelet comes off. Going in the parts bag with Flat Toon Link. Now I've got an Oracles Link
- Due to design, Link is incompatible with Skyward Sword's version of the Master Sword. Answering people's breakage issues, LBTW's Sword now seperates so you can feed the hilt through his fist and reattach the blade to it.
- Skyward Link's Master Sword is as big as LBTW himself is tall.
- LBTW Link doesn't have a sheath for his sword, because he doesn't in the game or art either.
- Only 4 pairs of hands total: Closed fist, fist-with-holes, open palm, open palm with pegs.
- Balances better than Skyward, but that might be because of his lower center of gravity and bigger (proportionally) feet.
- Ankle tilts pretty darn nicely ,don't know what that other anon is talking about.
>>
>>5878913
Thank god. No ankle tilt would have ruined the whole thing for me. Wish he had a sheath, buy I can deal.
>>
>>5878913
>>5878927
>>5878520
Just got mine minutes ago. Ankle tilts fine going inward, but has less range outward.

Also, jeez he's tiny compared to other figmas. I haven't been following figmas as much as I used to, but this guy's at about shoulder height compared to the the 30 or so that I have from way back.Doesn't ruin him for me or anything, and I'm betting Nintendo had some thing about him scaling to Skyward Sword. Just kinda weird.

Also, I wish the "drawing" Link was one of those plastic cling-ons rather than a stand. Doesn't make much sense.

Saw a bunch of these guys shelf warming earlier today, I might pick him up next time. I love animal crossing but I don't like the eyes on this fig. I wish they would do one with normal eyes.

Maybe I could make a custom of my own character. What's the articulation? Looks like head and shoulder rotation. Is there a waist cut? (a man can dream)

This guy is begging for some triangle shades, or better yet a clown mask.
>>
>>5878913
>- LBTW Link doesn't have a sheath for his sword, because he doesn't in the game or art either.
well that's just irresponsible swordsmanship
>>
>>5878935
oh! Small detail:
>drawing Link isn't the same image reversed on each side. They actually got a different image so that the bracelet was always on the correct arm no matter which way you flip it

Not a huge deal because it's probably the least exciting accessory in the box, but it's one of those "hey, someone cared" touched.
>>
>>5878966

He has one in-game, just not in any of the promotional art. A shame they didn't include one, one of the best things about Skyward Sword Link.was displaying him with his weapons sheathed.
>>
>>5878977

I like that the rupee on it's stand can fit inside the pot.

Because...yeah.
>>
>>5878984
The rupee can also loosely fit onto the peg of his "holding" hands. It's at an angle but at least he can grab his money.

It's not 3am anymore, so yes.

It somehow still manages to look worse in person. The photos show as far down as its right arm will go because of the whole chest being lopsided + the point on the sleeve.

The left leg has that same permanent tilt going on, and there's no way to straighten it out.

Huh. Always thought it was larger, based on photos.

I love that this video showed all the Link toys we got thus far.

Some of these are really garbage.
>>
>>5882947

>>
>>5882947
There was 2 Nintendo Power Ocarina of Time Links.

The single pack which was larger and better quality on the paint (seen in the video) (which was also opposite Ganondorf)

And the 3 pack with Ganondorf and Zelda that are 3-4 inches tall seen in your photo)
>>
>>5882947
It's a figma, though. Didn't you see the pictures of it? Look at how big he is compared to the stand base, all figmas have the same stand base.
>>
>>5882969

Oh, disappointing. I tried it out and the New Link's sword is also incompatible with Skyward's effect part. The Master Sword just won't fit in the slots, the shapes are different in thickness. No swipe animation.

Not that it'd really work even if it could fit. The blade is shorter by about an inch or so, so it'd have extra swoosh hanging off the tip even if it could fit.

>>
>>5884166
Honestly, just wait until a little while after it's released. These things do not sell out immediately like an Amiibo might have back when those were huge. I've seen F4Fs go down to around 65% of their retail prices on some sites like entertainment earth, thinkgeek, etc. You won't be able to get the exclusive if you resort to that, but F4Fs don't gain value until 3-5 years after their initial run, typically. It depends on the franchise, too.
>>

By the time I preordered the new Link, the DX version was gone, so I had to go for the regular version. Just got the payment request today, along with the payment request for the new Mega Man.

Got Link in today. I'm not really a figure collector, I'm mostly into Transformers (as you can see), so I can't say how well his articulation stacks up to other modern toys, but overall, I'm pleased.

Pros:
>great sculpt
>lots of accessories
>big boots mean he's easy to balance even without the stand
>everything pegs/unpegs easily, yet sturdily to fit in his hands

Cons:
>washed out colors. Another anon said it, but he really does look like he was left in the sun or something. It's not too bad, but you do notice it.
>not enough weapons. I would have rather had a boomerang and bow instead of the pot, rupee and hermit crab.
>bomb doesn't peg into hand very well, hole isn't big enough.
>could have used another face. His happy face is a bit dopey looking, so I don't see myself using it often. Maybe a scared/startled face would have been nice?
>no sheath for sword. I know he doesn't have one in the game, or in the artwork, but still...

Mostly nitpicking on the cons, but whatevs. Like many anons, I've been waiting for a Link like this for a long time. If they ever do actually make an NES/SNES era Link figure, it'll be an easy swap, though.

>>
>>5886075
I believe he's supposed to be a teenager in the game. Let's go with 17.
>>
>>5886319
I dunno. Link seems to have two general age depictions in the games, in the 10-12 range, and the 16-18 range. Seeing as how the voice they gave him in ALBW is clearly his pre-teen voice, I'd say it's supposed to be a younger incarnation of Link, which honestly seems to be the default.
>>
>>5886280
Yeah, they really need to update them. They tend to photoshop the fuck out of their statues so I wish they'd update things, I know their Megaman is inaccurate (his face changed) and so is their Amaterasu (they added an ink blot to her tail to be more accurate) since both of them changed before they were released. Plus, their Samus 1/4th scale statue is having more lights added so most consumers wouldn't know that without seeing the update. They're also having difficulty with rolling out their new website so I really hope they fix shit like this when it updates.
>>
>>5886020
They're flat so it's a convenient place to put them to keep them from bouncing around in the package
>>
>>5886020
What are you talking about?

No one is "hiding" anything.

Figma and Nendoroid boxes always, ALWAYS do this. Any flat pieces like that will be put in between the cardboard.

For example, Solid Snake figma's 'cardboard box'.

This is absolutely nothing new. Lurk more, maybe?
>>
>>5886268
Why must that perfect toon link come from a statue.
>>
>>5886485
Like I said, I haven't gotten mine yet, so I don't know exactly where it is, but it sounds like they are putting it behind the cardboard lining, and if so, none of my figmas have ever had anything there. It's always between the plastic shell and the cardboard, highly visible.

Got WoN Falco today. Kinda peg warming at TRU to my surprise.

Kinda lame to be honest. Maybe it's just me but his proportions look weird/awkward compared to the game, and I can't get him in any natural looking pose, and his right knee is pretty loose, it looks like the joint is sticking out more than the other so I think it's not just in there right.

BUT WoN Star Fox figures are the only Star Fox figures we have, and I'll happily collect them all. I'm not super surprised with Falco though, I always thought he looked sorta awkward in photos. Slippy looks a lot better in pictures, proportion wise so Im excited to find him. Can't wait to see Peppy.
>>
>>5887429
I just wish it was Bandai making them, but eh, what can you do? I remember an SHF survey was handed out at some con or event, and one of the choices for a new property to tackle was Star Fox. Another one was WWE. I remember thinking "WWE, who's gonna vote for that? Star Fox is the obvious pick" I was ignorant in thinking that WWE collectors and SHF collecters didnt have much of an overlap, because as you can see, we're getting the Rock and stone cold SHFs and no Star Fox characters.

it looks terrible moving it up, shooting the butt really far back making him look constipated, and it still can't do 90 degrees. If your hips don't bend more than 90 degrees irl, your body is broken.

Link kneels in certain games, this figure cannot kneel on one leg at all. The best example of this setup being broken is how far back they move, which is more than 90, compared to forward. SS link's skirt was this setup in reverse, which is why it worked so much better. This setup requires a lot of stress on the skirt material, and the weird constipated look. It's pretty hard to excuse when we know they've already done better.

it was significantly better on SS link. It's the setup in reverse, minus some coverage changes. The problem is the thing isn't setup to bend forward at all, it connects on top more than half a circle, so it just bunches up and stresses when moving it forward, that's why the lower torso joint moves back so far when you try to move it. A lot of the poses he makes aren't possible, or simply don't look right because of how it's setup, like how he us here, or one of the other pieces where he's battling one of the bosses.

Also the fact that the knees only bend 90 degrees. This thing has less articulation than you're average hasbro 3 inch figure, and that's a problem. I know the figure is clean and looks nice, but that doesn't mean it isn't, as a modern and very expensive modern figure, subpar.

Not neccessarily, but certainly some situations, including some of my own, carry that display. But what I find more interesting is that it clearly got the message across. Whether it be the context clues or the word itself, it was coherent, so why are you complaining? I mean, holy shit dude, take a step back and look at what you're bitching about.

Skyward Sword Link figma
Skyward Sword Link Real Action Heroes
Skyward Sword Link 4" WON
Windwaker Link Nendoroid
Windwaker Link 4" WON
Majora's Mask Nendoroid
Ocarina of Time 4" WON

Upcoming:
Twilight Princess Link figma
Breath of the Wild Link Nendoroid
Breath of the Wild Link Real Action Heroes

There's a bunch of statueshit for Link coming up too. Speaking of, >>5890874 there's an awesome Wolf Link statue from F4F but I've been seeing it go for 1.5k, which is fucking ridiculous. Pic related.

funny you bring that up.
theres a store selling it locally for 700 bucks.
hes had it for years and nobody has bought it.
ive asked him if i could see in a few times and its in perfect condition. should i cop it?
im not worried about it selling as i kinda live in the boonies.
>>
>>5890965
If you want to get one, that might be your best bet as a lot of them have broken in transit since F4F shipped these out right before they perfected the shipping system, so a lot of secondhand ones break in transit. That price is double what it initially sold for, but it's much better than what I've seen it sell for lately. During December it was around 700, but it's been selling for over double that which is insane. F4F really does quality work, especially on complicated statues. I own about seven of them with varying amounts of details on each sculpt, but their Zelda line is basically perfect.

it is not, and if it were, it'd still be extremely inaccurate. Looks like they threw the hair and clothing on some generic anime figure. Looks like garbage.

>>5890866
what is with figmas and never being accurate, and so few figma fans being able to notice it? Unless figma fans just have a super low standard.
>>
>>5892269
Twilight Princess Link seems to resemble more of the sharp, illustrated artwork of the character, rather than it's actual 3D model/render.
>>
>>5892299
But it doesn't, at all. Christ the proportions aren't even close, and the face certainly isn't any more accurate. It's just a poorly sculpted rendition of the character, hell Jakks has been making figures more accurate.
>>
>>5892372
These are the references I was talking about, which look pretty close to me.
>>
>>5892377
it still isn't, the lower body here looks proportionate, and his shoulders and chest are broad. He has almost a female figure on the figma, with super long legs and tiny feet, not to mention how long and thin the boots are in comparison. And, as with last time, the face and hair look like bad fanart.. Actually, that's what the whole thing looks like. When anime artists take link and overstylize him to where he looks ridiculous. It's similar to the medicom links, bodies and faces that don't match the characters are used to make an overall entirely inaccurate product. Only, up until TP link, masaki was actually trying to make the link sculpts look accurate. At least, without failing miserably.

I'm only this critical because the pretty lackluster sculptors at F4F managed to actually make their TP link look like TP link, unlike the figma. And the UDF coming out is miles more accurate. If some silly cheap little figure can be sculpted right, a $45+ figma should look even better. It just doesn't, and a long with their past two links, one being similarly (though not as much so) inaccurate (SS), and the other looking pretty nice with overall goofy looking and poorly executed articulation (LBW), the only result I see fitting is that MF lose the license, and we pass it on to bandai or someone who will actually care about the character's appearance.

And I should clarify, if you like masaki's stylized approach, more power to you. It's just when people deny inaccuracies and assume objective points are just a way to put their favorite figure line down that infuriates me, like the whole thing about blind nendo fanboys not being able to acknowledge the nendo WW link didn't actually share any proportions with the original character design.

Well I disagree and think you're reading too much into the subtle differences that are to be expected from illustrations/renders converted into a smaller highly detailed figure (and to be honest I find it hard to believe there isn't some agenda here when you just said a Jakks figure looked better than a Figma) but at this point you seem to have confirmation bias that believes all dissenting opinions are fanboyism, so it's not like anything I say will change your view.

Keep doing you, I see where you're coming from.
>>
>>5892432
Again, though, we've seen it transitioned better into 3D from different companies, meaning there's genuine evidence of the 2D art being able to be made more properly into 3D. So it isn't about disagreemen, it's an objective point. You can't have an opinion about the fact that the number 1 isn't the number 2. Also, the Jakks SS link is more accurate, as it's a rip if the ingame model. Some joints elongate limbs and such, and the finish and articulation are pretty bad, but they at least got the fundamentals right, which just didn't happen with the SS or TP links.

I appreciate you being civil, though.
>>
>>5892466
It's not objective though, it's your opinion that the other companies did it better and it's ultimately your perspective that deems the adapted designs don't capture the essence of the character. You keep shouting objective as if it's all you need to fall back on, but that still doesn't mean we have to agree with you when you're dealing with aesthetic in the first place, and there's so many factors to take into account such as Figma sculpts being essentially built from the ground up to account for - 1.) size, 2.) detail, 3.) engineering reflective of their premium price tags (which if we're being honest have been over priced for a while since the "figma tax," likely to account for licensing, as I recall buying SS Link for $35)

and then you have the case of UDF which are literal limitations of an illustration in mini-statue form. Frankly I think the face on UDF Link looks wonky and I know for a fact the final product won't looks as good, but by this point you're comparing apples and oranges, is Figma Link good looking for a toy, and is UDF good for a mini-figure? It's a weird/tricky thing to compare in the first place.

Like I think the face sculpt of Skyward Sword Link looks really bad, it's not even about the paint apps or engineering (For instance I can accept some budgeted NECA sculpts being better than Bandai) where as I despite a very minor liberal conversing of the SS face sculpt on Figma, I think it looks amazing, and I'm definitely not a fanboy or anything, I think the game itself is the worst in the series.

>Like I think the face sculpt of Skyward Sword Link looks really bad

I meant this in response to the Jakks, not figma.

Like sorry homie I don't see how this looks good to you, this is where I need to be stubborn.
>>
>>5892493
Points like the legs being too long, the feet being too small, belt being too high, chest being too thin, face lacking the proper proportion (nose isn't properly shaped, eyes are angled too much, mouth is too low and too wide), the hair isn't properly shaped (too wide and large compared to the face), and the overall lower body being too large compared to any of the source material is objective. Whether you or I find it aesthetically pleasing is opinionated, whether or not it is accurate is not. And there is almost nothing, aside from the clothing detail and sword and shield, accurate about it. The UDF has genuine traits that look like the character, like the face and body proportion. Some of it is sloppy and the paint finish won't be the greatest, but as stated earlier, they at least got the fundamentals right. Oh, and in reference to figma engineering, they reuse joints almost exclusively, have hideous elbow and knee joints, and continuously lack the range of even a modern marvel legends figure. The only thing figmas are really good for are the pretty paint apps and smooth finish, but those things don't make the proportioning any better. In fact, I don't even think Masaki has anymore than an amateur understanding of anatomy. A good dxample of this is figma bruce lee, muscles are misshapen, missing, and in the wrong places. Hell, he doesn't even seem to understand the waist lines up with the elbows.

In reference to the jakks vs figma ss link, the jakks is a rip of the ingame model with added in joints and physical textures, the face is, minus mold flaws and paint apps, more accurate than the figma because its a rip if the source model. I'm also intrigued you think the figma face has only a little bit of difference, not many people were praising the face and from what I recall, most had no problem pointing out the messed up jawline, inaccurate eye shape, and overly thing lips and nose.
>>
>>5892531
I should also mention that I took quite some time studying and sculpting SS link's face about 5 years ago, and while the sculpt is far from perfect, it certainly resembles the character more than the Figma. But even then I have no problem admitting the jakk's link face is more accurate sculpt wise. Because it is, for a fact, more accurate than any current traditionally sculpting rendition if the face available, because it wasn't traditionally sculpted, but a rip if the 3D model.

The audience for this general never ceases to amaze me.
>>
>>5892536
Anyway I'll leave you be after this, every point I've made about accuracy has been objective. Whether or not you or I find certain things more pretty than others doesn't change certain fundamental truths, like the fact that the proportions are absolutely wrong on the figma TP link. If you prefer poofier hair and overall longer legs with tiny feet, that's fine, but that isn't how the character looks, and that fact won't change unless the sculpt changes.

Thank you for being civil.

If he had interchangable hands and some more range of motion it'd be my ideal mario figure. I wish the SHF had this sturdiness to it, but then again it's got more articulation.

If only there was a mario line that perfectly balanced the quality of the 2 lines
