Monthly Building Challenge:
Your challenge this month is to create /pol/-inspired MOC depicting whatever atrocities August may bring
Well, there's the proper challenge. Thanks OP!
Last thread had too many shitposters, Bo-Bandy.

>>5875170
Star wars battle packs are fun.
As promised.
>>5875187
That looks realky good! Need to get one of these "hats"
>>5875187
Looks good, but I would just use plain white for the bishop's torso and dress piece.
And does that burqa have gray hands?
>>5875207
That's just a torso I had around, and I felt the printed brick fit the torso. But I feel the dress should be red, and maybe torso too, with white details.
Yes, those are gray hands. I didn't bother changing them to whatever it is supposed to be.
And here is what I was trying to explain last night. Clikit icons with hole are way more useful than icons with pins. It is possible that the pins attach to other system connections but I couldn't make them fit a technic hole.
But seriously. Why doesn't Lego have a dedicated cyberpunk theme?

>>5875283
They've been in 3 sets before this, one of which being a battle pack. So they're not rare in a sense, just uncommon.
The best part about sets is the extra parts.
>>5875355
Man, I do love all those spare stud shooter triggers that I have.
>>5875271
Thank you.
I don't have an exact idea in regards to the cost seeing as I had some of the parts already, but I still needed to make BL orders for a total of 95.3 EUR. This includes shipping and extra parts, though.
I had to shorten Jade's arms by 40% to make them not be floppy and I had to rebuild some parts because this piece:
http://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=22961#T=C
has a looser connection than other technic holes for some reason.
So I tried making a hood for something I've been working on.

I never owned LEGO as a kid (besides an island toy which required minimum building) so I don't really 'get' them. Building stuff doesn't seem that fun. I have this craving to get see some bricks and play with them. Is it that hard to build stuff without a guide?
>>5875534
How did you manage to solve the captcha?
>>5875534
most people get the hang of it trying time and time again. Start simple, keep having ideas and keep trying to build more complex things.
>>5875534
>Building stuff doesn't seem that fun.
It's all about creativity and creating. Being able to play with them too, but for most adults it's less that and more for display purpose.
And of course a LOT of nostalgia. Not just for Lego, but some of the brands they maade sets for.
>Is it that hard to build stuff without a guide?
Not really. Only if you want to make complcated stuff. There are some rules to it. Maybe you should check the google link in OP. There are links for digital lego builders where you can fool around. Not as fun, but you don't have to pay money for Lego and a good number of parts to use.

Mod are asleep. Post Bears.
Has anyone here had any luck scalping lego sets? Been thinking about picking up a few Star Wars sets, holding onto them for a few years, then selling them for triple what I paid for.
>>5875917
in that few years' time you'll have to resist the urge to not build them
also good luck scalping when everyone else is doing the same thing, especially for rarer/more expensive sets
>>5875880
>>5875933
>in that few years' time you'll have to resist the urge to not build them
This is true. I tried buying two Millenium Falcon sets at Walmart since they were on sale, but they only let me buy one of them. So I took the one home and planned on storing it for a few years but I just opened and built it that same day. Fuck. Haven't built a Lego set in probably eight years but it was fun at least.
>>5875917
The only ones that are worth it are the $500 UCS sets, but even then the golden age of Lego scalping has probably already passed, because now everyone has read all the articles about "Legos are worth more than gold", and the aftermarket will be a lot larger now because so many more people are into it.
>>5875685
http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=973pb0459
Not in the catalog. What's the screencap from?
How quickly do you guys build sets?
I like to take it slow. One brick at a time, no skipping steps or flipping ahead. Make that sweet, shiny, brand new plastic crack last.
>>5875880
>>5875966
I've been building Lego for most of my life so I tend to go fast, faster than I usually want to. So I line up the logo on the studs to force myself to slow down. Can't obviously line them all up perfectly, but I do what I can. Works pretty well.
>>5876017
>So I line up the logo on the studs to force myself to slow down.
>mfw I'm not the only one who does this

Autism is playing with Lego blocks past the age of 10. OCD is making sure the studs line up.
>>5875534
It's not that hard to come up with a moc. Almost all sets have a few key parts that sell the model as a car or whatever. - doors and windows for a house, wheels and windscreen for a car etc. I start with such parts, pick a color scheme, and build around them.

How hard do you want to work for it? If you are willing to constantly monitor all the local stores and then call the stores to find out the deals you can get your plastic. And after the calls you will 82% of the time need to drive to the store because the person on the phone will be no use. Of course you need the store to actually have the deals. I have been told each walmart sets their own clearance discount percents. So maybe become friends with the manager so you can get the best stuff first. If all else fails try craig's list. Those guys didn't steal lego I'm sure.
Basically, if you can dream it, you can get cheap lego
Sometimes I want to buy ugly sets of things I don't care about like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eyu0kDN2QxA just to get awesome pieces.

>>5876836
Not that guy, but a waifu builder
You don't necessarily need tan for ass, just rounded slopes, domes, etc. in general. Tan is only really necessary if you're building caucasian characters or characters in khakis, and even then it can be limited by how you're going about things, e.g. what kind of "pants" they're wearing, if any, et cetera.
Some of Zemata's early stuff makes for good examples; he just made do with disks and some bar claw connectors. When he went on to build TrixE, he kept the bar claw connections, but used technic liftarms to integrate nuva shells.
Obviously the disks made for an uglier butt than the shells, but you get the point.
>>5876832
Transforming into an ass is okay but IMO transforming to reveal an ass is also something to consider.

>>5877205
Extended includes all pieces in red and you change the color yourself; standard mode includes only piece/color combos that actually exist.
I can't stand to use anything other than Extended because it takes 10 fucking hours to scroll through the parts list otherwise.
>order trans-yellow
>receive trans-neon green
Hey, just saying, if you're one of those sellers who don't properly differentiate color or mold variations then you are actually worse than Hitler. Now I've gotta go outta my way to find a store that's selling the rest of the green-lantern set just to make sure I'm getting the right color 4l bar.
>>5877217
Hey, it's Jimmy Gibbs Jr.!
>>5877223
Plus, Extended actually has a lot of parts that don't exist in standard at ALL, but do exist in real life.
>>5877228
As someone who's partially blue-green colorblind, I sympathise with this seller. The only way I can easily differentiate them is to hold them under a UV light and sort out which ones glow and which ones don't.
>>5877205
People consider it 'cheating' because it's possible to use pieces in colors that do not exist irl. Personally I think it's a pretty stupid philosophy myself, but to each their own.
>>5876974
You know, I have never taken the box at walmart and ran it under the scanner to see how much it would cost. I'm going the try that next time I stop by.
>>5877235
If it's due to being partially colorblind then obviously it's understandable. But at the very least make sure that you're displaying the fact that you're incapable/not willing to differentiate minor color variations somewhere on your terms/splash page.
>>5877205
I dunno, being able to have every piece in every color Lego's ever made seems a bit cheap. More power to you if you use it, though.
>>5877223
You know there's this button on the color menu, right?
>>5877250
>If it's due to being partially colorblind then obviously it's understandable. But at the very least make sure that you're displaying the fact that you're incapable/not willing to differentiate minor color variations somewhere on your terms/splash page.
Or, y'know, it could have been an honest mistake that could easily be remedied by messaging the seller and explaining the problem like an adult.
>>5877256
You talk about being an adult about this situation, but don't you think it'd be more childish to ask the seller for a refund/credit? Or to expect them to pay for international s/h to send me the right colored versions? It's of twenty cents worth of pieces, anon, it's really not worth going to all that trouble. My feathers are ruffled, yes, but only enough to justify coming here and complaining about, not enough to warrant becoming a total nuance to the seller.
>>5877266
>You talk about being an adult about this situation, but don't you think it'd be more childish to ask the seller for a refund/credit? Or to expect them to pay for international s/h to send me the right colored versions?
...no? Most BL sellers in this situation offer customers either a credit or coupon for future purchases in their store. One international seller even sent me a single 20-cent piece separately after I told him that there had been an error "but it's fine and I just wanted you to know so you could correct your inventory".

I always pop in once a month or so and ask...what new polybags are there out there?
I finally found Cap's motorcycle. Pretty neat little thing. I found some small...uh Nexo Knights things that were on sale that scratched that small build urge and some of the dimensions stuff was on sale so that was neat.
Also...are there new Minifig sets coming out? Im still missing Stitch and...i haven't seen any new ones replacing them at any stores I've been to. I figured maybe Fall resets are preventing new ones from popping up but I can't really find anything on new ones coming out.

Spyrius. I think the mixture of a spy theme with flying saucers and giant robots is very creative and intriguing and I like the color scheme.

Was hoping the pics were just shopped, but I can confirm it's 100% real.

>>5877906
retired at the end of last year. reason; the minifigures were REALLY not up to quality, especially for a UCS set
>>5877917
I'm no lego designer, but for the $500 price tag I would have at least made it 600 pieces more.
Design-wise, I just would have wanted ANYTHING to be different. even if that just meant as simple as different scenes to display, or as complex as turning the whole thing into a REALLY large display model. with a bunch of micro ships to pose around it.
All I would have asked for was at least something different, so I wouldn't feel guilty about forking over so much money just to get upgraded minifigs, and and exact copy of a set i already own.
>>5877925
My camera is utter SHIT as you can see by that picture, so I didn't bother taking a picture. there are a LOT of minifigures, though.
This is purely from memory, but...
Han Solo, Han Solo (Stormie Disguise), Luke Skywalker (tatooine), Luke Skywalker (disguise), Luke Skywalker (ROTJ), Sheev, Tarkin, x3 Stormies, RA-7, a blue astromech??, R2, C3-PO, x2 Death Star Troopers, Imperial Crew, Imperial officer, Obi-wan, Leia, x2 Emperor Guards, Chewbacca.
the only real differences are RA-7 instead of the black protocol droid, and the blue astromech instead of the black one.

What were the parts that you needed to use Extended for?

>>5877223
Personally I use Standard mode but I don't consider it cheating to use Extended. I just use Standard because I'd hate to use parts from it that don't exist in IRL colors, and while Standard doesn't exactly cover that fully, it's definitely easier for me to get stuff that does exist using it.

As a kid, Unitron was my favorite because of the colors and good ship design. With so many factions, I also was playing that most of them became a unified Space force working together to prepare for the coming of the UFO aliens. Spyrius caused trouble from time to time, and with their huge robots, they were a stern challenge for the combined forces of the Exploriens (who were doing most of the research on the aliens and were always discovering new signs that they were coming), Unitron, Space Police, Futuron, Ice Planet, M-Tron and Blacktron II. I had my Blacktron 2 guys as part of the good guys because I didn't know the backstory at the time and they looked innocent enough, but the sole Blacktron I minifig I had was a villain. The day the aliens arrived and were about to make contact, he attacked them and forever made them enemies of the human race. Spyrius' flying saucers also got BTFO pretty hard by the UFO's superior ships. So hard that they decided to return to earth. I probably should've made them a high tech SPECTRE type of group after that. I mostly had them just planning on how to return to space with a powerful force again and occasionally menacing the the city or trying to steal the Time Cruisers' time machine.
Does anyone have the new elves cloaks (cape+hood) and could put them on a minifigure (if the cape even fits). I'm interested in how well it looks
>>5878513
The season one capes for the elves fit over the regular bar piece, so I doubt the new ones will fit. The hood should be fine. I don't own any of the new hoods or cloaks so I'll just share what I have.

I haven't had any custom pieces done yet, but I have researched it.
>Citizen Brick
Apparently they're stuff is top quality because they use a printing method called 'Pad Printing' which is apparently the same way Lego prints decals. Downside, it's expensive as fuck and they suggest that you order in large quantities (ie; 100s+) to keep overall costs down.
They're the guys that made that custom Lego strip club that sometimes get's posted in /lg/.
>Minifigs.me
They're stuff is apparently quite good. They're probably the best for you as they do custom printing on a small scale for a relatively decent price.
Those custom printed Pokemon bricks that popped up in /lg/ a few threads back were their work.
>EclipseGrafx
From what I can see, they're the lesser of the three in terms of quality. Still they look alright, just not as good as the other two. They seem to be more involved in making custom printed accessories, like 1x1 cones made to look like soft drink cans or tiles made to look like candy bars.
>>5879197
It's there so that you can either hang Strange's cloak on it or use it to make Strange float while fighting the tentacle rape monster.

I'd say so too and you don't have to change tuff yourself to make it look closer to what it is supposed to be. But I don't have either, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.
>>5880155
Do you have a Kylo Ren figure? That'd be the difference maker for me

No I don't have Kylo Ren figure, but again, the overall set looks great but I feel like the most of the pieces are just wings and the cabin itself is tiny. Maybe I am wrong and the cabin is decent, my colleague modified his Kylo's shuttle and he's praising it. Tydirium. Are those mixels canceled? There is no info of them and the Pirates/Doctors/Firefighters line was not even in new Polsih catalogue.
>>5881997
could still buy them in Poland though
>>5882001
Yeah I know. But this may be Mixels ending, and I don't like that.
I love my Lewt!
>>5880348
these are uncut ones

I finished my boarded up house, although it would need graffiti to be a proper crackhouse.
>>5882020
To be honest I got the feeling they were kinda running out of ideas for new series. Also let's hope something they will be replaced with something even cooler.
Yeah, I got Lewt too, he's glorious.
>>5882033
doorway seems out of place. Other than that, good job there! How is the roof tilted?
>>5882033
It's kinda cyberpunk

Jeez, first the Hoth base, now this? Come on Lego, stop being lazy
>>5882059
At least twice
You know what, fuck all you haters, I'm totally psyched about the new/re-released/updated Death Star UCS!
Why? Because I always wanted one, but wasn't able to get my hands on one.
Back when it was still available from Lego Online, which was the only place I could have bought it from, I wasn't in a good enough financial situation that I could justify dropping hundreds of dollars in one go on a single set. The only time I ever saw the old Death Star in a physical store, was while I was in the city and they wanted AU$800+ for it.
But now, not only do I have a decent job, with good pay, that looks like it's going to last until well into next year at the very least, but toy stores and department stores near where I live have started to carry modular and UCS. Not only that but they're often anywhere from AU$10-$50 cheaper then Lego's price.
So not only can I often get them cheaper, but in the case of department stores I can now put them on lay-by if I don't want to fork out AU$400+ in one go.
So fuck all you shitcunts, because I'll probably be able to get my hands on a UCS Death Star now!

The roof is crooked, back is one plate higher than front. Isn't that by design? May be a case of not pressing down the plates, then.
>>5882072
How is that an UCS and not a normal playset, maybe a little bigger than usual? Also, power to you, all I'm saying is they could have updated it somewhat more extensively. Compare previous WV Beetle to the current one, for example.

Sergei Kravenoff is holding greatest weapon of all time. It is piece of beauty, AK-47.
>>5882043
Really nice hovercar.
>>5881997
Wasn't it just a rumor and Lego confirmed that Mixels aren't over? I remember seeing something like that a few months ago.
>>5881008
> FOUR HUNDRED NINETY NINE US DOLLARS
lol, should be coming with an additional 5 to 8 figures at that price and even that would be a rip-off.
>>5882072
>I can now put them on lay-by if I don't want to fork out AU$400+ in one go.
>fuck all you shitcunts
I have a feeling your ancestors didn't pay for passage.

>>5881994
It is an UCS.

2016 - Year of horrible Exclusives
>>5882080
>>5882113
You're right and I was mistaken. It has the UCS badge on the box.
It looks like a really tedious build. You'd spend maybe an hour on the instructions, and then just say fuck it and start following the general pattern.
>>5882117
Thx Stacy!
>>5881932
Nice creepy photography.
>>5881997
don't exactly know why
atleast two out of three mixel tribes sell out in 4 of my local stores each series
