best bet would be a general cosmic line (or a comic con exclusive next year)

Gladiator
Quasar
Corsair
Lilandra
kid Nova (since we know he's coming)
Mantis?

The next GotG line is composed of kid Nova, Darkhawk, Angela, and movie characters. BAF is Titus or something from kid Nova.

I said this in the last post of the other thread right before it was archived: Am I the only one who collects Marvel Legends but feels ripped off? The old Toy biz ML had much more than current marvel legends, (blister packaging, larger build a figures, stands, not constantly reusing molds, and a comic book). In Current ML, we get packaging that can easily be stolen/swapped, smaller build a figures (Jubilee, allfather, ultron, and hobgoblin to name a few), constantly reused molds, not as much articulation, no comic books, and exclusives without stands to make up for the build a figure missing. And all this costs so much more. And inflation wise it would still be less, but we're also getting lower quality.
>>
>>5860266

Thats one wave as well, with how many waves they do it almost seems like we'll see a 2nd GotG wave.

no, Toy Biz was making good things when the market for toys went down and killed a few good companies. The toy market has never recovered.
>>
>>5860344
sad but true. We lost some great companies like Palisades who refused to compromise quality and detail in the face of of a down market and higher oil prices.

lets just be thankful that at least Hasbro has shown improvement since the ML revival

I agree about there being not being enough unique molds, but I still feel majority of the recent marvel legends are way better than thier older ToyBiz counter parts.

Recently Hasbro has been pretty good with including decent accessories like alternate heads and such. It's just a shame marvel legends cost about $30 before tax here in Canada.

Not >>5860577 but I'd love a new classic Hawkeye. The Toy Biz one was pretty great back when it was released, and I still display it to this day, but it shows it's age. An update is needed. We got an updated classic Cap so why not a new Hawkeye?

Welcome to 2016. Toy prices have all leaped upwards in the last 15 years. $20 is pretty much 'normal' price for any collector oriented toy nowadays.

I actually prefer Hasbro's ML stuff. The face sculpts are gorgeous nowadays, and you don't get the random quality control that used to be rampant on old Toybiz figures. Figures from any of the waves all feel very coherent and look great standing next to each other.

Articulation has not so much been cut but streamlined. Figures pose BETTER now, and torsos don't look so broken when twisted. Also, no more bowling ball shoulders or toe joints which frankly made the old figures a pain to use.

tldr I don't miss Toybiz one bit.
>>
>>5860720

and yet, they still clutter some stores....

>Am I the only one who collects Marvel Legends but feels ripped off?
The only time I've bought Legends figures and felt completely ripped off was the Ant-Man and Wasp from the Ultron BAF wave.
Both absolutely cannot stand for shit, their knees are wobbly messes, Ant-Man's helmet was inaccurate as fuck, and the BAF itself was an unpainted turd that I never bothered completing.

I hope Hasbro redoes Wasp with the Beetle body. That figure has something that Wasp doesn't because I swear Beetle balances great while Wasp can't.
>>
>>5860309
from time to time. pretty much every female figure sucks to some degree because of the single jointed elbows and stiletto or wedge heeled shoes that make them impossible to stand and all of them as far as I can tell lack decent neck articulation.

tl;dr the female figures tend to suck and this is getting annoying.
>>
>>5860802
ive completely stopped collecting female figures minus some exceptions from ML and other lines (have the shf black widow preordered). Im starting to realize how much they suck and how much im actually not that interested in their character
>>
>>5860806
I have more than I realized but not as to many. WS Widow, which is good except for the Heels which i will always hate, Mocking Bird which is probably one of the better Female MLs we've gotten, not perfect but not garbage, Wasp mainly for my Avengers Display, Captain Marvel, which again isn't to bad all things considered, Beetle because Superior Foes, and Sharon Carter which was greatly improved once I swapped out her hands.

they all still suffer from the problems I stated before but I needed some ladies for my display.
>>
>>5860813

Thundra is pretty solid
>>
>>5860729
gross clutter is gross
>>
>>5860787
The legends ant-man being so bad was pretty much the biggest thing that sold me on the figuarts. Holy crap he had to have been the worst legend in a long time. And I think beetle standing better was just plastic they used, that mold has a bum knee and the gummy plastic in the ant-man wave only made it worse.

>>5860802
>>5860806
Yep, that's probably my biggest problem with the line. Any given female body is guaranteed to have mannequin-tier articulation, and maybe even have trouble standing. The arms bug me because they absolutely can do skinny double jointed elbows, they just don't.

>>5860813
Mockingbird is actually pretty decent articulation wise, she just runs into the other big problem, molded hair. I'm not even sure what they could do either, a bunch of other higher-budget lines have the same issue.
>>
>>5860729
Why not just have one image per year?

2015 edition, 2016 edition, etc?
>>
>>5860802

Black Cat is the sexiest ML ever though.
>>
>>5860830
>they absolutely can do skinny double jointed elbows, they just don't.
isn't this literally true too? like don't some of the higher ups or whatever hate double jointed knees and elbows and think they look bad?
>>
>>5860802
Same here, I wish they'd give the females better articulation and range of that articulation. So many cool characters that can't stand for their life.

Silk's got some grey that's well done at least, even if it is a weird choice that makes her look like she's old. Abomination and sandman are loose as shit

Purple man has one leg longer than the other, which combined with his curved feet makes standing him a total pain in the ass.

Can confirm the spiderman has a few degrees more horizontal range on his hips than pizza spidey, but not enough to get excited for. The ultimate spiderman has much more range. Also, his hands use a different peg system than pizza spidey's which is awful since they didn't pack him with interchangable hands.

>>
>>5861311
She doesn't feel odd enough to be the winner. Then again Gamora and Captain Marvel were former winners for the 4" line. Still feels odd considering we kind of had a Songbird that just wasn't released. Hopefully they go long hair (or both) and effect parts.
>>
>>5861311
Eh...she was the ringer, a C-lister up against D-Listers was stacked in her favor. Thats not a swipe against fans of Solo of White Rabbit it's just that Hasbro (and Mattel when they did polls for DCUC) seem to have an expected winner but test the waters with the obscure characters that don't need a lot of investment.

Wow that sucks.

Lots of people buy two and then mix and match to get a good set and sell off the unwanted figures on Ebay. This year I could only afford one but I got an almost perfect set.
>>
>>5861022
>Not to mention terrible distribution.

That all depends on your location.

Since the line was rebranded MLI, I've seen every figure from every wave in plentiful numbers. Sometimes you have to wait a few months but eventually I've seen every figure at Walmart and almost every figure at Target or Meijer.
>>
>>5860745

This tbqh. All really good points that I agree with.

I've been collecting ML since Wave 1 and I can quite surprisingly say that Hasbro has completely eclipsed Toy Biz. Don't get me wrong, I loved Toy Biz when they were around but Hasbro has put out the best stuff the line has ever seen.

In all fairness, comparing Toy Biz to Hasbro though isn't really fair. Due to the changes in costs and the market, it's like comparing apples to oranges.

Luke Cage's face looks identical to EE Drax's and Radioactive Man's. The Commander Rogers face has seen near identical duplicates with at least 6 other figures. Hyperion? Same thing.

You say the face sculpts are gorgeous, but there's like 4 of them and they're insanely generic. There's nothing genuine in your statement.

I really don't think Hasbro has released many good figures. they are so cheap and don't make bafs worth the money. i say these are the good ones:
aim soldier
fin fang foom
the blob
sand man (not the baf)
ONSLAUGHT
maybe queen brood...

that said, toybiz was the opposite. the packaging was printed on $100 dollar bills and they seemed to have lost money with a lot of figures. the results weren't really worth the cost to them, but they did it for the love. if say toybiz released the following great figures:
Mecha hulk
doc ock
galactus
sentinel
apocalypse
giant man
mojo
modok
green goblin
face off hulk
hulkbuster

of course hindsight is 20/20... with action figures a lot of them are really awesome at the time they are released but then you look back and wonder what the hell you were thinking. but its also important to consider how a figure holds up.

my advice as someone who has collected marvel since childhood is to sell shit off while you can and limit yourself. don't buy a figure just because it's a character you like, make sure the figure is actually sculpted, painted and articulated well. legends are huge right now, you don't need to support them by buying every wave, especially waves with shit bafs (space venom) or butchered characters (new Iceman is still shit).

also, these fuckers are now the same price as selects. selects has released even fewer good figures, but given their recent success (spec Spidey, rhino, carnage, venom) it's more important than ever to be discerning.

import companies are also getting the license and releasing way higher quality stuff.

the point is: be cheap and don't support shit figures. they will keep pumping out poorly Deco'd bucky caps until they stop selling.

My Ant-Man Figuarts came today. He looks pretty fantastic but his articulation's not as good as Cap's. Especially at the hips.

Nothing I can't live with but I do wish he'd been cheaper. Especially for only coming with two sets of hands and a tiny Ant-Man.

1. Reaper body is too big for him. Having him on-par with Cap and Wonder Man while towering over Daredevil, Vision, etc. just looks wrong.
2. Hands, I cut the trigger fingers free on mine, but the sculpt still blocks the fingers from gripping the trigger snugly and its usually better to just not bother.
3. Non-Bandana head looks sweet, except he looks like he's smirking, or grinning ever so slightly. Kinda weird, considering the character.

It's mostly good after the first few episodes. I do have somewhat of a gripe with some of the middle stuff where it transforms into "Skye's Happy Fun Hour featuring some other people" and this is as someone who's favorite character is Skye.

Of course, part of my issue with that is my favorite character is Skye, as in literally Skye not... someone else who shall remain nameless for spoiler reasons.

Cons have the most bullshit sellers around. There were so many at the Wizard World Cleveland one selling "Mystery Boxes" which were full of bootleg toys and shit, especially Pokemon plush. I got bitten in the butt last year from buying some individually that I thought were legit but then I saw someone selling one somewhere else and realized mine wasn't the same.
This year I got gipped on Lego minifigs, but some were cool so I'm not as mad
It's likely they're just capitalizing on the crowds which is scummy but I get why they're doing it. $22 isn't as bad if you're looking for any of the more average characters.
>>
>>5866340
Are there cheap stands anywhere for legends? Like the "claw" ones? I bought some from amazon and I really liked them but yeesh $20 for a few plastic stands seems kind of a lot.

it's a really good show. the people who spout nothing but negativity are the people who have adhd and just want superhero's in their superhero universe and/or are source material elitist faggots
>>
>>5866777
>I'm gonna regret that I bet
Maybe. They might do an Emergency Retail Relief shipment of Deadpool and Wolverine like they've done in the past with some super hard to find figures (like Winter Soldier and Black Widow from Mandroid wave).

If not, yeah, it'll be something you regret. People will always want definitive versions of characters, especially popular ones, and the aftermarket will only have so many to sell when the wave is done in production. Wolverine will be a $50+ figure by this time next year, easy. Deadpool will be $80+. This isn't a pep-talk to scalp them hard, it's a reminder to get them the fuck now before you can't.

Rogue is supposed to be a brawler, but its nearly impossible to get any natural looking poses out of her, short of standing around, or generic flying.
>>
>>5867332
Yo, that one in particular is hot garbage. Most of my iron mangs are figuarts but I bought him to repaint too (as well as the baf part) and he's terrible. The shoulderpads are poorly designed and fall off all the time, he has the old y-joint swivel hips, half his joints are incredibly loose, and he has basically no ankle articulation. I straight up couldn't sell him in the bst for five bucks.
>>
>>5867318
>but he has trouble holding half of it and it's all gummy, his joints are gummy which is worse

Really? Mine isnt gummy at all, the weapons are though. His left arm was a little warped though.

I didn't used to, but they've kinda hidden the art on the boxes and i just throw it away now.

They used to have some amazing art before. The new stuff isn't bad, but it's so shadowed it's not worth keeping. It also makes it look generic, despite being done by a great artist.

I loved when they did the "return of marvel legends". Saw Thor in target once (I wasn't collecting 6 inch anymore, had moved onto the universe figures) and was happy with his size. Went back the next day and grabbed him and the ghost rider. Got me back into legends. The art was cool too.
>>
>>5867782
My ML experience is similar to yours, RoML Thor brought me back into the fold.

When you think about it, RoML/SDCC Thor has to be one of the single biggest jumps in quality that Legends has ever seen. It's a great figure even to this day, but looking back at what came directly before it from Hasbro's ML run? Fucking yikes. Just looking at the shit Hasbro was putting out a year and some change before SDCC Thor came out makes you wonder how they had such a huge change in quality in just one fucking figure. Prior to that it seemed like they completely did not give a shit about the brand, then out of nowhere you have a figure that completely redefines their direction.
>>
>>5867753
It's not. Just wait for the inevitable Spider-Man Homecoming toys and hope what we get then is better.
>>
Huh. Canada tends to get stuff late, but my walmart in Abbotsford British Columbia already has Falcon and Bucky. Too bad I don't care about either.
>>
>>5867857
Yeah, I had some of hasbro's earlier figures. I actually got into collecting them in the first place around when hasbro got the licence. Not sure what made them change their legends up, whether it was a guy they brought back on the team, or them realizing how great of a licence they had. Glad the recent figures have been really great, though. Love the Xmen wave (The few I have of it), Walgreens punisher is my favorite punisher figure.

Although, I will say when they were making those Ironman waves when Ironman 2 came out, those were fantastic figures. Love the sculpt on all of them, and especially love the War machine that was a walmart exclusive. One of Hasbro's best figures, in my opinion. Really want to grab the Civil war war machine but I know he's not as good.
