Daibadi/Polynian General: Naughty Fun Times Edtion

Okay, so as of now there hasn't news on release dates for new Polys so it looks like we have to wait for November for more releases. Still, welcome to any new members to the Polynian world.

For anyone who missed it, WonFes brought us the prototypes of both Pinkle and Vania. Illustrations for Lucio and Reimu were also shown off.

Remember if you need of new or are looking for new joints, you'll need Grey Hobby Base Ball Shape Joints (Part number PPC-Tn11).

Something to note is that the joints had a slightly more matte finish than the original joints on the Polynian of an anon. Adding to this, each joint on the figure has a different peg length and a slightly smaller chamfer around the peg but it can be fixed with a few minutes and a hobby knife.

Thank's again to the helpful anon.

Release Schedule:

August-October:
>None

November:
>Emil
>Yume (Re-issue/Fixed Version)

Polynians Released:

>Clover (Original Color)
>Shamrock (Original Color)
>Yume (Original w/Panel Lining)
>Clover (Grey Flesh)
>Shamrock (Grey Flesh)
>Mel Karon

are you the same anon who, no matter what the panel lines look like, you have to comment to every hand panel lined pic saying they look like shit? fuck off man. i have an original release shammy and his panel lines are fucking awful, straight from the company. they're uneven, blotchy, and one goes outside the line in the corner of his mouth.

most of the people doing it themselves have done a better job than the company itself, goddamn.
>>
>>5852226
Not that anon, but I will have to say, whilst the panel likes are okay, its the pink color itself. Looks kind of off on the gray body. A darker gray or even black would have worked nicer.

eh, I did coloured panel lining on mine and it looks great. I think the only problem with anons is that it's just a little too bold and thick, it's stand out just a bit too much.(but I think the execution was done very well) However the shaky cam pic wouldnt help kek. I think it would look 10x better with a nice, clear, steady, and hq pic.

I do agree with you on the colour not being the best choice, but thats just a personal preference. I think it would have looked better with either a lighter or darker shade. But once again, a better pic could probably sell me on it.
>>
>>5852344

Black panel lines seem to work best on the greys. Grey just doesn't lend itself to many good color combos. Wish they'd hurry up and do another release of the white figures, they'd go well with a variety of panel line colors.

Also trim your fingernails man.
>>

>>5852453
>Grey just doesn't lend itself to many good color combos
wew lad you are so wrong. Cool grey's lend themselves to blue/green/purple colours and warm greys match better with red/orange/yellows. Monochromatic greys match well with literally every colour because it's a neutral colour and is used to accent brighter and more vibrant shades.

yup

But colorful panel lining alone doesn't look quite right. There was an anon in one of the old threads that also painted parts of the hair, it might've been a little sloppy at the edges but looked fantastic.

Well autismo, it kind of looks like it's just being held in place by gravity because I know that the poly's don't have any "gripping hands", combined with the fact that there's no handle behind that part of the massacre set, that that's probably the answer and the only way to know for sure is to ask. I'd be inclined to doubt it, I'd think of it as more of a way to just spruce up the relatively plain naked Polynians rather than as a general redeco thing.
On the other hand, Polynians that are gray from the get-go could be a thing.
>>
>>5855660

It's a cheap way to reuse molds. Molds are expensive as fuck to make, this is purely a cost saving measure doing re-releases like this in different colors.

I honestly wish they'd just keep everything white though, it looks better. And I want a white Clover and Shamrock without getting my wallet raped.

The tail seems like it's working in a technical sense, but have you considered making the capper at the end more pointed or "sharp"? Seems like it would work visually better with the horns then the flat plug-like thing you have going on.

For anyone having trouble seeing what's wrong, here is a picture for you with exact duplicate proportion lines added. The eye height is a smidge off but the real problem is the fact they aren't centered on the face properly horizontally.

On another note it seems like Diabadi is offering support (replacement face) for people in Japan, not sure if that support will extend to the US or not. I just hope mine doesn't have it.

I would say the usual import sites like HLJ, Amiami and the like. I am partial to HLJ though since I always use them and they are sometimes cheaper. I haven't used Amiami but they still have all the Polys (except the originals) in stock if memory serves me right.

Here's the link to the Polys if you need/want 'em.

>>5865173
I'd recommend buying from AmiAmi if you can. If you have the bad luck to get a figure with some kind of QC error, Ami might help you out. But from what I've read in these threads, HLJ will only offer store credit or a refund.
>>
>>5865484
In that case use Pypal or a credit card and do a charges back if they don't fix the problem. That way you get your money back and get to keep the figure. I do it all the time. I love getting free toys.
>>
>>5865484
>If you have the bad luck to get a figure with some kind of QC error, Ami might help you out. But from what I've read in these threads, HLJ will only offer store credit or a refund.
This is correct. HLJ used to help get replacement parts 4-5+ years ago but they quit doing that. Now you get a partial refund (store credit, keep figure) or you get a full refund (real money, don't keep figure) and pay to ship the figure back to them. They reimburse you but still...

AmiAmi on the other hand lets you keep the figure no matter what. They will sometimes get replacement parts but if not you get a partial/full refund depending on the severity of the issue. Refund comes in the form of points which are equal to yen. For high demand items they sometimes add a replacement figure to your order at 50% which you can cancel to get points instead if you prefer.

On another note...got my order from HLJ and holy shit the packing is TERRIBLE. They just stacked them in there, put some air pillows on one side and two of the figures were in DIRECT CONTACT with the shipping box sides. There was zero padding or cushion to protect those sides. HLJ doesn't seem to understand 99% of casual damage to shipping boxes happens at these sides/corners they refuse to protect. Not the first time they've done it to me either and last time it damaged the boxes pretty bad (crushed the corners in badly) which i'd be pissed about had they not been on sale for 50% off and sold out at every other shop. Not demanding AmiAmi level "forest destroyer" protection but for fuck sake put the items in the center and leave room on ALL SIDES and put some air pillows there or something.

>Fuck all those whiners spending hundreds of dollars and expecting to get stuff in good shape. Why should a store have to adhere to basic packing principles advised by shipping carriers? Center everything and put padding around it? Psh, fuck that. The customer cares more about saving a few bucks! Hell, HLJ should really amp up the savings and just slap shipping labels directly onto the toy boxes (like Amazon did) or forcefully fold the toy boxes in half to save even more space (like hasbrotoyshop did) or maybe just throw things in bubble mailers (like Amazon also did). I mean it's not like these dumb fuck customers will realize that they could buy the same things from AmiAmi, pay about the same price or less and have the peace of mind that even if something is particularly abused it will probably come without any damage because of the thick layers of padding. Clearly customers put more value on the ability to cancel on a whim like poorfags with poor budgeting. Or how about that awesome Private Warehouse(tm) that lets you store stuff for 60 days? What's better than amassing a huge order to -not really- save big with inadequate packaging? It's not like bigger boxes get more abused or anything right?

Not going to respond to the obvious troll anymore but I feel the same way you do. If the price difference is huge then I may take a gamble on a store that uses less than ideal packing. However that's not the case even on Daibadi or Revoltech stuff where HLJ is slightly cheaper sometimes. In the best case scenario HLJ will save you $5 per figure, in most scenarios about $2.50 per figure and in worst case scenarios you end up paying more at HLJ.

For anyone interested in the math:
Mel early pre-order = 400 yen cheaper at HLJ
Mel late pre-order = 150 yen cheaper at HLJ
AmiAmi gives 63 points (yen) that can be put toward future order
Total savings at HLJ = 87 or 337 yen

Shipping:
RSAL is identical between both stores. HLJ has a discount on EMS that saves you 300 yen on a single figure order.

Real world scenario (actual order):
1x figma (580 yen cheaper at AmiAmi + 52 points)
1x SAS (250 yen cheaper at AmiAmi + 59 points)
1x Polynian (400 yen cheaper at HLJ) (AmiAmi = 63 points)
Shipping cost: 3220 yen at AmiAmi, 2740 yen at HLJ
Winner: AmiAmi by 124 yen.

So I finally received my Aigis and in true daibaidai fashion she's all over the place.
It's hard to tell from the promo pics, but they gave her a pearlescent finish which is visually nice, but the joints are just a plain white.
She's about a whole head taller than poly's and a smidge taller than your average FaG.
Her accessories are pretty limited and keeping Yume in mind (mostly her ponytail) It's a pain in the ass to get the jetpack pegged into her back.
She has two sets hair+ Headband, but the hair is only compatible with the headband they're initially attached to. Unfortanately she only has one face, and it's very "meh". She has such a blank stare like she's seen some shit.
The joints in general are complete garbage, Most of them want to come apart just from posing her limbs, and because her hip plates are interchangeable, she has a thigh swivel which is also pretty loose.

I don't have any other Aigis figures to compare her to, but compared to Yume and Grey Clover, I would pass. I think I'm officially done with this company.

I'm still alive, and so is the guy I was in contact with.

Our original plan had been for him to recast some GKs himself and then to sell those, completed, to people however they wished, and then to send the kit to GK-M for further recasting, however he cannot recast the kit himself for a medley of reasons, namely cost and effort required. We're talking something like 5-6 hours for one full recast.

With this in mind we decided instead it might be a good idea to send the kit directly to GK-M instead. and then to channel GK-M orders though him in order to save on shipping, hopefully get a nice discount for the sake of a large number of orders, and also to do assembly line painting for ease of distribution's sake. In this way everyone wins; the kit is distributed futher to GK builders whilst at the same time daibadi can get the GK completed without having to do as much work.
My main concerns with this would be how much money for painter anon could recoup for himself, but this depends on how many people'd be buying.

Currently I'm emailing GK-M on the subject of mailing the kit to them as well as waiting on some pictures from the guy of another kit he's working on, which can be used to show people the quality of the models they'd be able to get. Last e-mail from the guy was yesterday, and the last e-mail I got from GK-M was also yesterday at 11:40 AM, so now I'm waiting on them to reply, because I can't do anything, and I don't think you guys'd want to either, without an idea of what work can be done or mailing addresses to send stuff to.

Sorry to keep you guys waiting. I didn't want to post updates mainly because there really isn't much to write about regarding it; a lot of the e-mails between me and recaster anon were just planning, and unluckily we still had and have our lives to attend to. I felt like updates would be doing something like building hype for nothing.

I still want to get the kit out there, but things happen. Fingers crossed!

The figure line is called Polynian so that can help you in your future when looking for more info. As for places to buy BBTS is nice but I would suggest import sites like Amiami, HLJ and the like. Hope this helps and I hope you get yours soon anon.

Here's the links for 'em

After an entire month of waiting for SAL, Mel finally arrived today.

While she's every bit as cute as the pictures implied, holy FUCK her joints were absolutely horrible out of the box. Everything stuck like crazy and her left knee was so stiff that I was afraid that it'd break if I tried to move it at all.

And then I tried moving her right knee and it just snapped. It's only through the noble sacrificce of a Griffon that Mel is able to stand right now.
>>
>>5889063

If you felt resistance to that level you should have tried immersing it in boiling water or using a hair dryer to try and loosen the ball joint.
>>
>>5889109
This. People need to learn to quit "pushing it" and trying to test the limits of their imports. Unless it's a Revoltech you shouldn't be putting extreme forces on it and even then you still shouldn't. Just those joints are extremely hardy and meant for repeated part swapping and play.

I know it's hard to resist that natural human instinct that tells you to go "just a little more, just a little more" but you need to stop, drop the fucking toy (softly) and step away to cool your head then think up a proper strategy.
>>
>>5889109
>>5889129
He said the left knee had resistance, the right one just simply snapped. It sounds more like a faulty joint than hamhandling.
>>
>>5889131
Is it a possibility that it was so tight someone at the factory pre-damaged it? Sure. Doesn't change the fact people hamhand their toys and put way too much force finding out a joint is stuck by putting so much force on it they fear it will break.

Just get a damn hair dryer and work on all the joints if any of them give even the slightest resistance. The one knee may have still broken but god damn this shit needs to be common knowledge by now.

So far it only seems like Yume is the one it happens to and we have no clue how many are affected.

This is what mine looks like now. Meanwhile my Clover, which is almost a year older and has been handled far more, still looks brand new. Shit fucking sucks.

I've read that hair dryers can warp the plastic on toys or speed up yellowing.

Is that not true?

Use warm water next time, it'll remove the semen better and prevent the yellowing.

I would like to think they would somewhere down the line. They're re-issuing Yume and will probably re-issue the greys THEN they might do the original again but it not a sure thing.

Holy hell that's bad. Mine doesn't look that bad just a slight yellowish around the thighs and arms. I took this pic a couple of days ago. I might have a small photo shoot later so I'll try to get more later.

>>
>>5889601
>I've read that hair dryers can warp the plastic on toys or speed up yellowing.
A hair dryer set to a normal setting shouldn't warp anything unless you are just beating down on the toy for an unreasonable amount of time. When freeing a joint you really only need a few seconds or so. Same with hot water or boiling water.

Heat is actually more likely to straighten up warped parts to their original state (PVC has an original state) to be honest. If you get something with a warped part or accessory applying heat is a good way to remove most the warping. If it doesn't it makes things pliable enough that you can straighten it and then drop it in cold water to set the change you made.

Heat can cause warping due to gravity/weight in a situation where a figure has poor center of balance, heavy ass parts or is poorly designed (see: statues that are side/back/front heavy leaning over time) but it can almost always be fixed with application of heat and resetting the part. As for yellowing...i've honestly never heard of that.

I don't actually like Cheetos oddly enough. Don't know why. But yeah when ever I moved them to take photos or whatever my hands were clean.

This didn't occur to me either. Might look into it if it starts to get worse. It's not too bad right now at least compared to the other anons Yume.

You could probably get tips from gunpla threads if thats a route you wanted to go.

the interesting thing about these two is they have yellowed in the EXACT same place. It's not ALL the white thats yellowed, it looks like select patches.
>>
>>5890434
>>5890678
I checked on mine today and surprise, surprise. She's very faintly yellowish brown in the same places. I feel as though it might be from sun exposure because it suddenly halts around her ankles in a straight line. But what the fuck is wrong with this exact spot?
>>
>>5893079
Fuckin' A, mine too.
>>
so, is there a way to clean it or should just paint white over that?
>>
ABS (Lego plastic) can be whitened again using a peroxide solution. No idea how well that'd work here, and what plastic Daibadi uses though.

Yellowed Legos are usually like ten years old instead of....what, a couple of months?
>>
I had yellowing on some Shinki hands and I just soaked them in hydrogen proxide for a day. The 3% or whatever kind you get in the health and beauty section for $1. It mostly fixed the problem but idk if whatever polys are made of will react well.

Polyurethane resins will never be tough like actual production plastics and industrial resins are highly toxic and expensive as shit. Just a warning for you if you think you'll get as good a quality item from resin recasting.
>>
>>5893668

>>
>>5893607

Could you do a putty mould then fill with miliput or even basic resin colored with pigment. Would be basic as fuck but moulding putty wouldn't fuck with the original fig.

>>5893831
That's interesting, could you not just scrape the yellow off gently?
>>
>>5894459
Epoxy putties are even worse. They're brittle and not particularly strong. An 80D hardness (or something close) resin will probably simulate plastic, you should just be careful with it.
>>
Dubs decides if I purchase Yume with fixed paint
>>
>>5893822
Don't see why urethane resin would be an issue when it can be turned on a large with not much issue. Don't see why you'd need it to be stronger than that.

The issue I see is making a mould to pick up the fine details. Could be a fun project, you could make some cool colors
>>
Where do people get all these different clothes and props that I see Shamrock and Clover dressed up in?

And what about all these different body parts; Do they share a standard joint type/size with some other maker that just makes mixing and matching easy?
>>
>>5894472
yes
>>
>>5894739

Some of it comes off Revoltech's Queens Blade line. IIRC, Nanael's dress, Ymir's dress, and Alice (loli version) dress all fit the Poly's.

Some of it is made via balloon's, which I think some Anon made a guide about.

As for the rest of it, no idea.
>>
>>5894739
Revoltech parts can be swapped since they use similar joints.

ditto what >>5894774 said about the clothes from the QB line.

Also some Picco Neemo clothes work fine, especially the sleeveless items (shoulders can look weird with how big the joints are).
>>
>>5894774
where can I find the guide for balloon clothes?
>>
>>5896294

I've seen it posted in these threads I thin. I don't have it though, it's useful, but some Anon said you can't leave the balloon clothes on them as balloons are made of pure shit tier rubber usually, and might stain the figures with residue.

I'm asking $60 shipped. I can take pictures in the morning.
