I'm sure people do, but I don't imagine that there are many real standout designs or lines besides the ones from Sanrio or Alpacasso, so discussion for them is probably limited to just talking about what kinds you had as kids or such.

Clearly you only have knowledge on weeb stuff, but there are plenty of amazing plushes that are not geared solely towards children. Hansa makes amazingly realistic and detailed plushes, they also make a lot of unconventional animals, like aye-ayes, vultures, genets, herons, frilled lizards, and pic related (I really want this guy.)

Steiff also makes high grade plush, though they're definitely collector driven. They're expensive, but extremely well made with a huge variety of animals.

Those bigger names aside, brands like Cuddlekins and Folkmanis make great pushes too.

Nice choice in animals OP, I personally fell in love with pic related at the Cincinnati Zoo and had to have it. He's big and cuddly, even weighted near the back legs so he's pretty well balanced.

Have you ever watched the videos on how Hansa does their plush? They quilt musculature into their stuffed animals, it's super clever.

Not to be underestimated, my grandma bought me a pink elephant there when I was a kid that I still treasure to this day. He used to have a pink ribbon around his neck that I eventually had to toss out, but otherwise he's in great shape.

San-x Sumikko Gurashi Shy Cat. The line is a play on Japanese people being shy and liking to sit quietly in the corner. All the characters have an odd shy quirk. There is a polar bear who hates being cold, a fried scrap of Tonkatsu who wants to be part of a meal, a weed who dreams of being in a bouquet, a salamander who wants to be a sea monster a penguin with an identity crisis who wants to be a kappa.

It's super cute. I have a ton of the fold up play sets and the 2" plushies for them.
