RESIZE YOUR DAMN PICTURES (please)
Hey guys, first timer here. I thought Kaiji deserved a rest after all he's been through. :)

To be fair, people post the fullsize picture which can be slightly out of focus when a quick resize and crop can lessen how out of focus it looks and generally can improve a photo.

Sentinel RE:Edit Extremist Armor Iron Man.
Don't go for it if you don't like the aesthetics, since Chemical Attack pretty much took a ton and a half of liberties with the original source material. Also, it doesn't fit in to any scale since its 7-8 inch-ish tall. Also, it's stupid expensive now.
It is a marvel of engineering though. And it's gorgeously painted.

>extremist
Extremis. Fuck autocorrect.
First timer here, I don't have any sort of backdrop, might take Piccolo outside tomorrow, though

You absolutely do not need a backdrop to join in on the fun, you're off to a good start!
>>5844186
Thanks anon, it's always nice to get some positive reinforcement, especially on this site.
I have Future Trunks coming in the mail, and after that I'm getting some stands. I'm excited to try to set up some sweet fighting scenes.
This is so entertaining

The lighting is all off on most of'em. This is after me trying to spruce them up a bit in GIMP. The originals looked even worse.
tl;dr My lighting if shit and I need a light box or better lighting. Yours are a lot clearer and have better lighting.
Also a lot of these figures are fairly cheap. Nanael (the angel girl) and EX Raiden revo's were like 30-50 when I got'em. Most revo's seem to hover around $30-40.
>>5845402
That's more than I've tried to do. Almost all of my shots are just at the desk in my room.
My Godzillas were $25 each and Piccolo was $30. I just ordered the SH Figuarts Future Trunks for $50.
Where did you get the Raiden and Venom Snake? They look really good.
>>5845409
Raiden and Venom Snake are both Revoltechs, though Venom is under their Vulcanlog label. The one I've got is the Sneaking Suit version, who is also the only regular sized (ie: 1/12th, or around 6 inches tall) version revo has made.
I got Snake off Amazon for $56, Raiden I forget. I do know I got the EX version (ie: the white version) since it was cheaper than the regular by a good bit since people only seemed to want his normal MGR color so that one has shot up in price quite a bit.
>>5845417
I'm definitely going to get a Venom Snake, maybe the Olive drab.
I really need to invest in stands and back drops.
Do you use flash for your pictures? My lighting is just a lamp on the other side of my room.
>>5845444
Yeah, I have to, because my lighting isn't strong enough otherwise. I either get noise filled, shit no flash pics, or pics that get nuked by the flash.
Also just a word of warning, but the other Revo Venom Snake's are all Revomini's, which means they're around 4 inches or so. Out of scale with pretty much every other toy, as most come in around 6 inches. They're also not that great honestly, the Vulcanlog one I've got is probably the best Venom Snake figure you'll find.
As for stands I just use whatever comes with a figure, though I did buy some extra stands to use with some of my Transformers.
>>5845456
That's a really cool set of pictures. I want to be able to do that eventually.
I've looked into getting stands, but They're like, $7 on Amazon for one. I suppose it's well worth it for the posing capabilities though.
Aw, that's a shame about the other Snakes. The sneaking suit does look really cool though.
>>5845468
They're not that hard to do, the hardest part is usually just swapping out hands and shit so much.
IIRC the Tamashii ACT stands are 3 packs. I use Act 5's for my Transformers since they need the big, meaty ratchet joint to support their weight at times. I think Act 4's are for most regular figures (figma's, SHF, revo's) but those types of figures come with stands normally anyway.
>>5845479
Swapping parts certainly is annoying. My Piccolo has a crossed arms part and it's a huge pain to get on.
I wish Piccolo came with a stand. I don't think Trunks comes with one either. I'll just have to snag one on payday.
>>5845502
My picture didn't post for whatever reason.
>>5845502
They don't? Well, shit. Never bought a DBZ figure myself, though I've been eyeing a few (Piccolo, Broly), but I thought they came with stands.
And yeah, face/hand/part/etc swapping is the longest part, second longest is probably just trying to arrange two or more figures into anything cohesive. I like your pics though, they're nice so far.
>>5845514
Kek, that file name
Broly is easily one of the best DBZ figures from what I've been seeing, but that pricetag drives me away. My wish list so far is the Awakening Goku, Broly and Android 17.
And thanks anon. I appreciate the support and kindness. I'm digging your pictures too. The posing is great.
>>5845561
Yeah, Broly's expensive. Hopefully he gets a re-release at some point that isn't some con exclusive that'll end up as or more expensive.
And I like to try and give stuff dumb filenames. It just adds to the ridiculousness of it all.
>>5845571
I might just end up buying Broly before then anyway. He'd look great in my room.
Posing is so fun. I wish I would've gotten into this years ago.
>>5845599
Yeah, that is the fun of it really. Most of my stuff is in dumb or funny poses, and I pull it off my shelves at random to mess with.
>>5845613
I can't wait to get more figures to mess around with. I used to have a really nice Sigma 6 Duke figure from GI Joe that had fantastic articulation.
Also, sidenote, when people collect Transformers, are they generally collecting the Hasbro(?) that you'd find in a toy section, or is there a Figuarts/NECA equivalent?
>>5845641
Generally, theres 3 things: Hasbro, Takara, and 3rd parties.
3P stuff varies hugely in quality, because it's unofficial "Not-Transformers" stuff, but the good stuff is immensely good. It's also very high priced, we're talking $20+ minimums for figures that Hasbro would price at $10 for their size.
Hasbro and Takara stuff is the official stuff, and the biggest difference between the two is usually paint apps: Takara goes for the more lavish paint apps, but sometimes goes for completely different decos. The usual thing is "Hasbro does the toy deco, Takara does the cartoon deco".
Pic related, my 3P Feral Rex, MMC's Not-Predaking, and one expensive motherfucker. He's nearly $600 for all his component figures.
>>5845663
Sweet figure. I wish I had the money to put down on something like that. I'm not the huuugest fan of Transformers, but I think they're cool, and the cartoon was good.
Is there a recommendation for a good Optimus figure? Or maybe Starscream?
How do they get away with using the designs if it's unofficial?
>>5845700
Well, he was bought over several months in pieces, those are too expensive to buy all at once.
The absolute best Optimus you can probably buy is the MP-10, which is the official Masterpiece figure. He's pretty big, around 9-10 inches I think. He's also around $150, as the MP stuff is the collector line. You can find upscaled or downscaled KO's of it though, which vary in price/quality.
Starscream, best again is probably the MP, but he's more expensive (because he hasn't been reissued in a while and he's popular) and his mold is a bit old compared to the newer MP's which are generally getting better over time.
>>5844141
Those are pretty good if your goal is to take the world's darkest pictures where details are not noticeable.
Seriously, ditch the dark background. It's a mess.
>>5845700
>>How do they get away with using the designs if it's unofficial?
Oh, and they get away with it by being based in China, where IP laws may as well not exist and trying to actually stamp any of them out leads them to closing their doors and reopening a day later under a new name.
Recent pic of Mel that I got. Might have another photo session this weekend hopefully.

Next paycheck, I'm getting the SH Figuarts Bruce Lee and a Obitsu stand in hopes of having some more fun with posing
>>5846498
okay
>>5846498
Is Piccolo your only figure so far? Seems like you're having a lot of fun with him.
So I just bought my very first figure. Just getting into the hobby and it's already livened up my otherwise dull deskspace
It took me forever to get him set up like this! It was surprisingly hard to get ahold of all the points of articulation, and I can't quite seem to get his legs to move into positions they showcase on the boxart and such. Still, really happy with it
>>5846509
I have 2 NECA Godzilla figures, but they have very little articulation.
>>5846524
>So I just bought my very first figure.
I envy (and weep for) you.
>>5841047
>Outta my way! Going to page 10!
My new desk and slightly better light positioning is working. Still not great, but meh.
>>5847938
>>5848005
Yeah, because of getting a desk I was able to rearrange my lighting just a bit. At least now I don't have to murder my shit with a flash to get a clear-ish picture. I still need more light though I think.
All the skateboard pics reminded me of this one I took a long time ago. It reminded me of this because before this pic, I had him doing Whatever A Spider Can from Tony Hawk, and I had to do very little to put him in this pose.
Does anyone care about reposts from other threads? I took this recently because I was so enthralled with the figure.

How do you get shit to stay suspended mid air? Are you using certain angles to hid the stands for the skate board pics?
>>5848629
Thats probably it. Or using photo editors to erase the stands.

Yes, yes it is.

dont go with black. It makes everything seem cramped and you cant make out a lot of the shadows or details
Look at OPs picture. Notice how even though a white background is used, even on a figure that is primarily white and black, all the details can be seen.
Just some advice. I really like your posing and angles, but its hard to see everything in a flat black background

I stopped following transformers for a bit. The combiner Wars dont interest me and i feel like Hasbro has really seen a sharp decline in the quality of TFs after the 3rd movie. The price inlaftion doesnt help either. the last TF I bought new in box was Generations Whirl
>>5854321
please reshoot this so i can save it for my desktop
>>5855454
CW turned out great, if repetitive. The actual combiners (sans Menasor, unless you bought the PE kit to fix him) are fairly solid, and QC issues usually were minor. Only mold issue was the helicopters, who suffered from a weak combiner handfootgun port that could break and almost always gets stress lines.
TR so far has better overall designs than CW, probably because not every figure needs to have 4 different, functional modes, BUT, QC is a mess due to Hasbro moving factories around all over the damn place.
tl;dr CW turned out good if repetitive, TR is going to be great, but QC issues are running wild.
