For Transformers, Titans Return Blaster is loads better than Prime in base and bot mode. As for altmodes, Prime has a little better play with Titan figures, but not significantly. Fortress Maximus is definitely a standout just purely for his size, but is actually quite barren as a standalone.

Imaginext and Playmobil tends to have better generic stuff occasionally and work for the miscellaneous small scale figures usually.

Toys R Us still has a generic line of 3 3/4 toys that has bases and some of the FAO Schwartz are classy toys.

Other than that, toy bases aren't as common anymore, except in the building toy lines.

Lego uses a lot of brighter colors usually while Megablok uses muted and metallics, McFarlane sets do their best to hide pegs.

Skylanders has a few playsets to actually have something to do with their figures physically.

Some of the old DOTM Cyberverse playsets can be work and still find them new and cheap. The Ark playset you can find for around $25

MB had some pretty awesome baseplates with terrain built into them. I think those Halo pieces were the last. Dragons had quite a few along the years.

it's pretty clear to me that OP was after stuff like the uss flagg or similar playsets that are functional as not only a displayable piece for a specific size, but also able to be altered into other things, yet you're just saying none exist and he should just build something.

legos suck for playsets unless you have loads and know what you want.

because I didn't think to post picture related and tell OP to mine his own minerals and smelt his own metals to make his own toys, obviously

fortrex is a big set, comes with loads, it's expandable to fit whatever he wants either with more bricks or with using the ones he has in imaginative ways
