I think Im done with destiny sets already. They are very compatible with CoD parts, so you can potentially get two figs with every armory pack. Wish enemy and weapon variety were better, but I expect those to come.

A storage canister, 2-4 dregs, 0-1 shanks, 1-2 captain torsos, 4-6 weapons, possibly the only way to get vandals

>>
>>5840291

What about Hive?

I don't do much gaming but I've watched some Destiny stuff and the grimoire lore is pretty damn cool with the backstory on the Hive.
>>
>>5840312
I hope the Vex pack comes with at least a Minotaur and I can see your point on no Cabal packs because they'd have to make something completely new for them.

On another note, when did we find out about these battle packs? I don't remember seeing them anywhere. Also battle packs repainted into Taken versions/fallen sets retooled into Splicer versions when?

>>5840343
I thought it was supposed to be Atheon's grimoire card but it looks nothing like that.

>>5840998
I think Hive could be possible just gotta make some new minifig parts. A battle pack could be like A Knight with either 2 Acolytes or 3 or 4 Thralls.
>>
Those Devil Splicers have a cool color scheme.
>>
>>5841291

Black and red with literal swords and guns for arms and legs.

who knows if we'll get these guys, I snagged a couple Mystic Leos for their weapons and put them on Borgia guards.
looks like the Templar archers have quivers, though, any other sets/figure have those?
>>
>>5842122
It seems less and less likely we'll see them. The possibility exists that there's some sort of marketing embargo, though. I don't remember seeing any movie-related stuff from any other companies, and sometimes you get license holders putting up weird rules like that. Look at what happened with Spiderman in Age of Ultron.
>>
>>5842122
what is the easiest way to get borgia guards?
>>
>>5842506
Troop packs
The fortress set, which is usually on steep discount
The cart
>>
The Halo Arena Champions Battle Pack is available at Toys-R-Us now, but it looks like they're selling it for $39.99 instead of the MSRP of $24.99. That's kind of a bust.
>>
>>5843052
I miss the days when Mega Bloks were exempt from the Toys R Us tax
>>
>>5843087
They used to have better and more frequent MB sales too, in the last several months the only one I've seen is the recent "buy 1 get 1 half price" in combination with their clearance on some older, less desired stuff. I guess the days of 25%-30% off everything are in the past.

>>5843052
Are you sure it's not $29.99? I'm in Canada and that's what it's listed as, same as all the previous super packs. Even at $40 it's still cheaper than buying the blind bags at freaking $4 each.
>>

I only ever saw Echo once in my area, and they only had three bags left. I was at Walmart a few days ago and they had Foxtrot so I guess for the most part I missed the boat on that wave. Oh well, at least I got the purple Scout I wanted.

>Echo is real spotty around here as well. I got a few Elites but didn't know the secrets so I didn't look past the elites.
Yeah, but the Elite Rangers and Grey Marines were the ones I was really hoping to army build, especially since they were Commons...
Found a couple more Rangers mixed in the nearest Target's Foxtrot and Delta mess, but yeah...
Oddest thing is, they had the Delta Box AND the Foxtrot Box on the shelf, so I'm wondering where the Echos actually came from...

Also want at least another Rootbeer Jackal and that Clear Arbiter to complete the visible one I got with the UNSC Attack Gausshog.

>>5844770
>Echo is real spotty around here as well. I got a few Elites but didn't know the secrets so I didn't look past the elites.
I've been keeping a list of codes on me for this very reason...
Going on a trip later today, so I might be able to ask my ride if we can check out both the local and another country Walmart that still had BETA around the time Delta dropped.
>>
Finally, Destiny sets have reached stores! I saw everything except the walker. I picked up the Samsara set and after seeing people using COD minifigs to display the other set, where can I get just some minifigs cheap? Also which ones work the best?
>>
>>5845419
Cheap? Ebay lose figured. I think scuba and ghosts guys are best due to black/grey bodies
>>
>>5845264

Why do you say that? The interceptor is a pretty meh vehicle in the game, but the set is a nice little compact vehicle.

The set actually made me kind of like the vehicle more.

That said, we still need more fucking titans, instead of the one lone one being in a $30 set. Next wave better have a shit load of them.
>>
>>5845794
>but the set is a nice little compact vehicle.
but it can't fold away the arms to boost like it can in game. If Mega Bloks could put an opening cockpit on the jumpship they sure as hell could've found a way to make the interceptor's arms fold in
>>
>>5845809
But they do fold anon
>>
>>5845809
They added the engine compartment, which isn't even in the game.
>>
>>5845419

That packaging caught my eye before anything else did. I really like it.

I do hope we see some more stuff at NYCC. They usually show new stuff there too right? I remember they've debuted licenses there the past two years.

Dark of the Moon Human Alliance Basic Thunderhead.
http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Human_Alliance#Basic
While they're the same size as the Human Alliance human figures, and can interact with all the same points on the robot figures, there's still the scale issue. Human Alliance vehicles are 1/24 scale, but Human Alliance humans are 1/32, as are mega bloks microfigs. So, while they can interact with HA toys, they look appropriately sized with Deluxe cars and such.

Super pro-tip: The resistance figures from the Terminator line all look like Sector 7 or NEST troopers, while the CodBloks Covert Ops set looks like a bunch of Cemetery Wind guys.

Here, and MB face book group. There is still a lot of back lash from 90s and 00s MB. They were truly awful. Now a days the quality is much better and most sets have less one-time use parts than the average Lego set.

I havent visited any Lego groups since I gave up on Lego and adopted MB. I can just imagine the butt hurt and lies they come up with in defense of MB having Destiny and Halo as well as CoD. When I stopped playing with Lego all I was trying to build was scale army stuff. Lego people (even armed with brick arms) are just not articulated enough and too kiddy to actually look good in that kind of setting. MB has filled that niche perfectly. I hope MB can break out of it's old reputation and people will start to let it stand on it's own and not against Lego
>>
>>5873340

The brick quality of MB is still pretty shitty, though. And the builds of the sets are hit or miss, I find. They're definitely better than the used to be, and they're probably only second (though a distant second) to LEGO. Though, even 3rd-place is very far from reaching MB quality.

The real draw for MB is the unique minis, really. Most people even here will admit that. No one really does highly articulate minifigures, as most brick toys use minis that are derivative of LEGO.

LEGO refuses to do anything war-related, and won't even really make any guns, unless they're like fantastical space lazer guns, or antique guns like old west revolves and imperial-era muskets and flintlocks and stuff. But they're never do something like handguns, or assault rifles, or anything like that.

MB fills that niche perfectly, and I don't think I would even want LEGO to attempt it. MB is kind of the go-to for FPS fans since their man draws are things like Halo, CoD, and now Destiny. The detail they're able to put into these tiny figures and accessories are amazing, and they seem to only get better year after year.

That said, while I think LEGO's quality is (overall) head and shoulders over competitors, most people aren't really coming to MB for the actual bricks, but rather the kickass figures and some of the cool vehicles and stuff.
>>
>>5873112
I love /toy/ and always have, it's just kind of sad that this thread doesn't really compare in terms of traffic to some other threads.

>I can just imagine the butt hurt and lies they come up with in defense of MB having Destiny and Halo as well as CoD
Yeah even when just searching for a Mega Bloks group to follow I found a bunch of Lego collectors starting threads just shitting on MB. I get that Lego is definitely more consistent in quality but it's weird how people take brand loyalty so far.

Lego Empire State Buliding:$20, 77 pc
Block Tech Empire State Building:$5, 83 pc
Went to Dollar General for a few sundries, saw BT ESB. Based on the picture, I think its all the same parts, but i can't figure out where the extra 6 pieces are. Quality is pretty good, though on a polished surface you can get the building to spin. For $5 each I'm going back for the other 2, Big Ben (Lego one is 2x as big and ~$40) and Eiffel Tower (Lego is again 2x as big and ~$40). There's also at least 2 bigger sets for $12, Leaning Tower of Pisa and NYC Skyline. There might be a 3rd, based on the room left in the display case and i can't find out what it is.

Knowing Block Tech, they probably switched out a 1x2 brick (or two 1x1 bricks) with six 1x1 plates or something equally cheap. I'm not a fan of the white color scheme since details tend to get washed out, but I'll have to take a look for these the next time I'm out. I do wish they had chosen some other buildings, though.

I'd guess in the next wave, yeah. The armory packs seem to be moving units, every time I go to Toys R Us or Target they never have a full supply. Kinda hoping to get at least two titans in total for a second wave just to even it all out a bit.
Also holding out hope for new armor/enemies but we'll see about that.

>>
>>5888310
What do we expect from wave 2? TTK sparrows? Pikes? A giant Oryx? Devil Splicer stuff? More ships?
>>
>>5888342

I really have no idea what to expect, but off the top of my head, some ideas are;

More sparrows (practically a given)
More jumpships (practically a given)
More armory sets obviously
An Oryx would be cool
Maybe a Fallen Ketch
A Huge McLarge playset of the tower
Maybe some sort of buildable Servitor (Like Sepiks Prime)
Maybe a buildable large Vex like they did with Atheon (like Maybe Sekrion or just some Hydras)
Maybe one of the Cabal War Tanks or something.

Also, I just saw new Destiny set that I don't think has ever been brought up: Megabloks has been doing those weird sets of characters from movies and stuff (I forget what they're called, but they've done like a Terminator one, and a bunch of others) But I saw one of a Destiny Hunter at TRU today.
>>
>>5888353

Oh, also like a Hive Tombship, or something would be neat too.
>>
I imagine we'll see some Destiny stuff next month at NYCC.

Speaking of McFarlane…
Anyone taking advantage of them being 1/3rd off at TRU?

I recently build the Lego City Deep Sea Exploration set. It was my first big Lego set I bought in years. Pretty amazing stuff. What made me buy was because it was on sale at 100$CAN instead of 150$CAN. Pretty worth it.

I even made a MOC platform to simulate to boat being above the water. That platform alone was pretty expensive because I had to buy the peices by the bucket at the Lego shop. A bit of a failure but oh well.

Next I built the Mega Block UNSC Warthog special 10th Anniversary Edition. A solid build with an amazing end result.

Some years ago I found it at a local Winners for only 30$CAN. I bought two. One to use the parts for a MOC and another one to keep sealed for a potencial reselling or to build it. Well, some years later in storage the Lego bug had bit me so might as well unpack and build the thing.

No regrets because woah. That's one NICE vehicle.

this noob found out a HUGE difference between the Lego and Mega Blocks instruction manuals.

Lego have all the bagies numbered by parts of the sets, with their own individual manuals. Also, each manuals have LOTS of pages and just a few steps are shown on each pages. You can't make any mistakes.

It was a bit of a nightmare building the Warthog. Look at this shit. The pages are very small, and often, there's 4 HUGE steps each made out of LOTS of parts. Also, the colors are very dark and the parts shown can be very confusing. Often, I had to go back a few pages because I did something wrong.

TlDr, can't see shit captain'!

Thoughts?
>>
>>5893046
That's one thing that I really wish Mega would start doing, particularly given how many of their sets tend to have nearly monochromatic color schemes
>>
>>5893072

It's even worse in bad lighting conditions.
And even then right under the lamp, it's hard to distinguish details. Hell, I had to dismantle the gun turret on the Warthog just because I confused a normal 4*4 flat with the rotating block that was supposed to go there. And very often, I had to squint hard to distinguish the green and gray blocks. I found out that the green ones have a distinctive "camuflage swirl" on them, Making the job easier. Pity the color blinds!

It would sort of help too, if MB was able to differentiate their colors and stuff a little better. Some sets have 3 or 4 colors that are similar but not the same.

Well, it is possible that LEGO simply copyrighted the idea of differentiating between bags altogether. Not just numbering them.

since everyone at the LEGO general thread is such a baby about everything that is not pure, untouched, unmodified LEGO, I'll ask here.
I want to paint the stripes on my LEGO bb-8 to red and also sand his bottom a bit to make it more round looking
what would be the best method? I don't want the paint to wear off, but buying paints and more just for that piece seems a little too much
someone has metioned sharpie as an option. has anyone tried it? and will sanding the little bottom notch fuck up the figure?
thanks y'all

Looking at the figures I realized that if you have figures from the same series, you could probably make a pretty convincing display for them being closer or further from the camera.

Like by having the normal sized figures closer and the mega bloks figures further it would create a sense of distance or depth if you play with the DoF
>>
>>5893070
Have you considered not being an autist? Lego having numbered bags is a relatively recent introduction, maybe within the past 7-8 years. Lego instructions from anything prior to that were similar to the MB instructions, minus the piece call outs and the arrows. If kids could figure it out back then, you can figure this out.

>>5895522
I seriously doubt this. It's not like you can get a patent for something as generic as putting a number on a bag.

>>
>>5896760
>I seriously doubt this. It's not like you can get a patent for something as generic as putting a number on a bag.
Like I said, only heard it while watching Jang reviews. Even he couldn't verify it, saying this:
>What I've heard (but haven't been able to independently verify) is that LEGO has some sort of patent or other protection giving them exclusive rights to packaging parts in building brick toy sets in the order of the build in conjunction with the instructions. Supposedly that is why no competitor has numbered bags, even though it's such an incredibly obvious thing to do.
>>
Realistically speaking, what other reason would there be for other building-block companies to NOT use numbered bags at this point?

I mean, it isn't really so bad on smaller and medium-sized sets, but big-ass sets with thousands of pieces already take a long time to build. Even when they're LEGO sets WITH the numbered bags.

Not to mention the fact that MB QC isn't the greatest, and in bigger bags sometimes you're missing pieces all over, or end up with extra bags, or whole missing bags, and it seems to be kind of common unfortunately.

It isn't really hard to build sets without numbered bags, it just takes a lot more time on the larger sets because everything is way less sorted and organized.

To counter the "Lego patented numbered bags" theory, this Megao Bloks set apparently had bags with numbers on them. The numbers didn't necessarily correspond to the instructions, but the bags had numbers.

Enlighten have also recently begun packaging their sets in numbered bags. While that's not exactly a smoking gun, ir at least shows that some manufacturers are picking up the practice.

The figure builder on the collectors site has a translucent orange sun breaker Titan that's the same as what comes with the interceptor and a set of red armor that's a mix of the Infinite Lines helmet, Kalipolis Chest, as well as the Ruin Wings. So at least there's hope.

What, exactly, is considered the "current" wave of Halo blindbag minis? Because depending on what store I go to, I see: Delta, Echo, Charlie, and Foxtrot bags.

I'm assuming Foxtrot is the current one as that seems to be what I see most, but I also see a lot of Charlie stuff too.

Also, how often do their blindbags come out? seems like it is every couple months or so?
>>
>>5903092

So we can expect at least one more army pack right? They usually don't just pack one design to a box? I'm sure these will be shown at NYCC.
>>
>>5904985

I'm willing to bet they'll do three every wave. These seem to be the cheap "Buy it just for the figure" sets. And the other lines (Halo, CoD, TMNT so far, etc) have always had cheap-o sets that're just a figure.

What I'm hoping happens, since the first wave had two Hunters and a Warlock as the armory sets, is that we get another Warlock and two Titans. That would at least make two of each class in the cheapest sets in these first two waves.

But seriously, though. We need more damn Titans.
>>
>>5904990
Outside of this Hive set, wave 2 needs to be nothing but Titans
>>
>>5905216

For it to be truly balanced, yeah, but you know they'll never do that.

I wonder why they've been so lacking with Titans, though. My only real guess is that Destiny's Titans look so similar to Halo's armored-up guys that they wanted to start with something that looked somewhat more different.

Daaaaaaaaamn.
Maybe I can trade someone one of them.

I kind of wanted to have two of the Warlocks because on one hand I feel bad opening the "collectors item" toy, and on the other I feel bad NOT opening it. So with two I could just do both.

But I'd rather try to trade for the stupid titan than pay that much for it.
>>
>>5905456

I bought one of the Stormcaller Warlocks off eBay for about $20.

They've pretty much flooded onto eBay, though, so I get the feeling the price will drop eventually.

The Sunbreaker Titan, though....I think I've seen maybe four or so on eBay. The ones that have sold have gone for like, $50-$60.

They're definitely not equal in price I guess.

I think they want to get the more "traditional"-looks for the minis for a while. Trials, IB, and Raid armor looks really specific.

I'm sure (and I hope) they'll get to it, but my guess is they want to get the faction armors and the "easier" to obtain sets first.

Foxtrot and Charlie I've been finding at all the major retailers (Toys R Us, Target, Walmart) Echo and Delta is all I've been finding at places like Walgreens, and smaller independent/specialty toy stores.

Assuming you live in the US, I'd start there.
>>
>>5905913
That seems to be the problem though. Traditional looking Titans look too much like Spartan armor. These alternate armor sets would really help the titans stand out and ket us have more of them.

However, if we get like Trials armor I hope we get it in like a crucible set. Like maybe have a set based off Bannerfall so you could also pass it off as like a tower playset. Or even do a Lighthouse playset.
>>
>>5906650

Seems like something they could easily do with the armory sets.

Give a more traditional Titan look, and then one of the more obscure/specialized armor sets as the alternate look.
