Shiiiiiit. I would be if I could afford the damn thing. $300 for a 7" tall figure is just too rich for my blood, even if it IS a beautiful figure with great engineering.

I mean, at first we could say, "Sentinel is a new and small company, that's why their prices are high!" But now they're growing bigger and bigger and getting increasingly more high-profile licenses. I think at this point they simply refuse to back down from the price points they've set for themselves, and in fact seem to be trying to push the limits of how good of a toy you can make with no budgetary constraints whatsoever.
>>
>>5838487
Not terribly fond of the linings all over it, but that is still a damn fine Kaiser. and holy shit, those proportions. Are there any other Mazinkaisers this beefy?

Not even that. Their engineering is nothing to write home about, and they prioritize diecast content and shiny paintjobs to durability/playability. In the end you're paying top dollar for an action figure that will end with floppy joints and lots of paint chipping, or a tiny glorified statue.

And for looks alone the Koto kit looks better tbq desu.

This poster is probably a frog. Frogs love the Goldrake, just like burgers love Golion.

Goldrake is the italian name, it was called Goldorak in France. But if we're talking about loving Grandizer, the arabs are on top of the list.

>>

>Their engineering is nothing to write home about
I'm not necessarily saying it makes it worthwhile, cause I think it's overpriced no matter what, but have you watched the video of the joint breakdown on the proto? It's some pretty nice shit, a billion different torso joints and sliding panels and joint that reveal hidden sculpted detail when bent and the way the back hatch pops open both sides when you open one. Again, not saying it makes it worth $300, but it does look like a damn nicely engineered toy.

The one thing I really disagree with is them making the chest diecast. I don't mind diecast as a whole, but I think it's better used in the lower body to keep a firm foundation on the figure. I estimate that the heavy diecast chest will make the waist floppy over time.

Sentinel went downhill the moment they decided to target "high end" collectors who typically don't give a shit about playing with their toys or having them last a long time. They are in it for the prestige and bragging rights, typically just posing their figures in neutral poses on some expensive glass display.

These are the same people who whined about the early Riobot releases that were all plastic. They'd use words like "flimsy" and "light" despite the fact none of these early Riobot even had breakage issues. So Sentinel added diecast to please them.

Diecast is literally a meme that needs to go the fuck away. Weight doesn't equal durability or quality. Weight is just weight. If anything it causes issues with joints over time (or right away) and issues with paint over time (or right away).

>>

Yeah. Was very happy with my Dancouga at first. One year later, it's chipped in places I've barely touched, one of the fingers fell off just from taking it out of the box after a move and I'm terrified to even touch it again. I don't see myself buying a Sentinel robot figure again unless I want Orgun or something

>>

>One year later, it's chipped in places I've barely touched
That's the problem with diecast in general. Yeah plastic can also have chipping or durability issues too but diecast will literally chip without you touching it.

I have SHF with diecast that chipped from just STANDING THERE not being touched for 2+ years. I carefully inspected it out of the package and again after posing, the chips weren't fucking there but happened without being touched. It's annoying as hell.

Similarly, How 'bout Aphrodite A? Is the Soul of Chogokin Aphrodite A the only articulated one besides that ThreeZero one?

But I guess you can't hear their opinions because your ears are covered with bananas.

>>5868458
>hamhands his toys
>the manufacturer is at fault
>>
>>5868464
Not my figures. That was from a ToysDaily thread about Sentinel Dancouga, where a bunch of people reported similar issues. It got so bad that the same shop in Hong Kong kept getting customers returning theirs and having to get replacements from Sentinel. So you can't blame Shart-in-Marts for hamhands.
>>
>>5868464
Yeah, no. This was a known issue as >>5868487 pointed out. Sometimes believe it or not a toy is just defective, more prone to defects or some jackass at the factory abused it. Not everything has to be a "hamhands" even if collectors DO have a hard time taking responsibility when they hamhand shit.

At these prices these type of QC issues shouldn't be happening and getting support outside of Asia is a big fucking question mark. Sentinel sometimes helps and sometimes they tell you to get lost and then oops, $300-400 down the drain.
>>
>>5868487
If you search for it, you'll find complaints about every toy ever being "broken in the box" or "shit quality." Most of them simply being ONE occurence of an issue being reposted everywhere with "WARNING SHIT TOY DO NOT BUY" written all over it, especially when it's a costly toy.

Unless you find hundreds of different persons reporting the same issues online ON THEIR copy, hamhands are and will always be the most probable explanation.

Source: I own at least 20 super-fragile-QC-ridden-OMG-do-not-buy-this-overpriced-pos-that-will-crumble toys and all of them are absolutely fine, in fact most are great. I don't smash them to the ground though so that may help.
>>
>>5868513
Sure, some toys definitely are defective by design/quality but Dancouga isn't one of them and there's absolutely 0 reason to think Mazinkaizer will be.
>>
>>5868523
>I own every figure ever made and none are broken so you are wrong!
Cool story, kid.
>>
>>5868530
Considering all the reports about breakages, I would say Dancouga definitely is. You can cry hamhands, but people who are dropping $300 for dancouga aren't your average tRansformers collectors; they probably have countless other expensive toys and know how to handle them, which is why the breakages are so concerning.

Just got mine in the mail!

Pros: Gorgeous looking, very stable considering everything that's going on, excellent assortment of accessories.

Cons: Some joints are just way too tight, particularly the upper arm and leg swivels (but don't feel fragile). Scrander is lovely looking but makes handling the figure difficult once attached.

So in a nutshell, DO get this if you love Mazinkaiser and love the look of this thing in particular. Stay away if you're looking for desk-fodder to fiddle with. The SRC is probably the better option in that case.
