Now that Summer WonFes is over we now know how the prototypes for Pinkle and Vania look! Both of which turned out great in my opinion.

Also shown off were the design illustrations for Lucio, the new shotabot in a speedo and Reimu, who seems to be the first in a collaboration series. Who are you most excited for? What are some dream collabs you'd like to see?

There will also be a drought of robutts until November it seems, as no news for new PO's has been given. Except for HLJ buyers like myself, since Mel was pushed to August. So either its nice as we save money for future releases or it sucks because no robutts for a couple of months.

Oh and incase you guys are looking for new joints, you'll need Grey Hobby Base Ball Shape Joints (Part number PPC-Tn11).

Something to note, according to an anon, the joints had a slightly more matte finish than the original joints on his Shamrock. Adding to this, each joint on the figure has a different peg length and a slightly smaller chamfer around the peg that can be fixed with a few minutes and a hobby knife.

Also anon, I hope it's okay that I used your photo. It just felt right.

Release Schedule:

August:
>Mel Karon (HLJ Buyers)

September-October:
>None

November:
>Emil
>Yume (Re-issue/Fixed Version)

Polynians Released:
>Clover (Original Color)
>Shamrock (Original Color)
>Yume (Original w/Panel Lining)
>Clover (Grey Flesh)
>Shamrock (Grey Flesh)
>Mel Karon (Except HLJ)

why does young sham look more manly than older sham? what turned him into a cum guzzling pink haired trap bot?
>>
>>5830931
That's his secret, anon.
He went full trap mode so that nobody will see it coming when he bends them over and rails them from behind.
>>
>>5830751
That works great BTW.
Also, you can do the same thing if the joint peg rotates too loosely in the hole. Just use thinner and longer strips of tape and cover the ends of the pegs.
>>
So I finally shipped my HLJ order with clover in it. Anyone have some neat clothing ideas for it?
>>
>>5831163
Don't know if it would work personally. I guess there is a chance it could work but I would try adding a small amount of tissue or paper around the peg then putting the joint in. I did that with my Iron Man figuarts.

I would have suggested the Picco Neemo yukata that came out last month but don't know if it suits your tastes.

My Yume keeps falling apart at the point where her top connects to her pelvis. Is there any way to fix this without straight up gluing it?
>>
>>5831663
Yeah that was one of the QC problems that she has. Have you tried putting the joint in by itself to try and widen the peg hole? Just put the lone ball peg into the lower half of the body. That seemed to help with mine. She holds together better now but as I can grab her by the head without it popping off. With enough movement though she still splits in half.

>>5831598
Yeah the kimono doesn't look sexual unless your going for "kimono play". There are also other outfits up right now too. I linked the kimono somewhere here so you can check the rest of the outfits there.

>>
>>5834456
This. I actually plan to pair them/part-swap with the new female assemleborgs. Since they remind me and look somewhat like MoMo's too.

>>5834460
Ah fair enough. I kinda have the same feeling with Emil, sorta on the fence with him. As of now the only others I'll snatch up are Vania, Pinkle and Reimu. I don't know zilch about Touhou but I like the design.
>>
>>5834410

>>
So, if I wanted to panel line my grey Poly's, what should I use?
>>
>>5834557
fine tip markers, mechanical pencils or fine tip paint brush with thinned out paint
>>
>>5834587

Would something like a pigma work, or would a gundam marker be better, or...?

Sorry for stupid shit questions, never had to do this before and trying to figure out my options How would a mechanical pencil work though? Wouldn't it rub right off with any amount of handling that posing usually requires?
>>
>>5834557

Black sharpie
>>
>>5834595
as long as it's 0.5mm and smaller with a felt tip it should matter what you use. You're gonna need a steady hand anyway because the lines arent very deep, I basically had to free hand paint my lines on.

I dont think it would rub off that easily, even if it did it would easy enough to draw back on.

Im surprised I havent seen anyone take a crack at lining mel yet, guess people are waiting for her to arrive still.

Congrats anon, you have indeed hit the jackpot.

You could wait for them to list her re-issued version. Don't know when they might put her up for PO though but she is getting re-issued. She's up at Amiami now (PO and used). If you do want though, I have seen some anons list Yume on the BST before so maybe you can nab her off there. Good luck on you endeavors anon, I hope you get her soon.
>>
>>5836144
My only problem is I can't put the ponytail at all. Should I to put the joint in hot water or something?
>>
>>5836151
Yeah, dip the back of her head (the part where the ponytail attaches) in warm/hot water then insert the ponytail. The problem was that the peg hole shrunk due to the material it was made of I think. I did this and her ponytail went in with no trouble at all.
>>
So I just panel lined my grey 'rock with a mechanical pencil.

Turned out pretty good I think. Thanks to the Anon that suggested it.
>>
>>5836102
Amiami has had used ones in stock.

Question about Yume, is the back section of her hair supposed to detach from her head or no? I have never been able to remove mine and I dont know if its just firmly stuck on there or if its glued as its not supposed to be removed
>>
>>5835310
If I had to pick between either having MoMo's or Poly's, I'd probably pick Poly's. MoMo's are more expensive (Theyre bigger and I feel theyre a higher quality) and very large where as the Poly's are cheaper, come with more accessories (hands/faceplates/stands/items) can be part swapped and fit in with the rest of my collection size wise.
>>
>>5836485
Not really, MoMos have QC about as spotty as recent Polynians.
I'd still pick them for the aesthetic though.

I'm not fortunate to own one of the originals but from pictures I've seen looks like they were designed this way. Just like the greys. The only thing I can think of to fix this is maybe sanding down the peg to the point where it joins the parts and makes the more uniform. Another option might be to dip the chest piece in warm/hot water and then try to re-attach it to see if it goes in all the way. Hope this helps, maybe another anon who owns one can provide more insight.

>from pictures I've seen looks like they were designed this way.
Wow.
You keep offering up these little homilies, and every time you're wrong.

Of course they aren't designed this way. It's a flaw from the factory. Clover had the problem with the joint not going in all the way in the bottom piece, so the easy fix from Daibadi was to trim, or sand the bottom peg so the joint, and thus the "cup" part of the torso would fit snugly against the bottom piece.
See pic.

Same with Shamrock. In some cases it's the top peg of the joint. Either way the ifx is the same.

>I'm not fortunate to own one of the originals but
So really you shouldn't be offering advice that's nothing more than conjecture, and incorrect most of the time at that.
'course what do you expect from a namefag? Gotta get that recognition, even at a board that's based on people remaining anonymous.

>>5836801
>No you dipshit, I know exactly what he's talking about, those are beads.
No.
They're charms.
It fucking calls them that in the link you posted. "Handcuff CHARMS"
Beads are usually round, or roundish ( sometimes square and other shapes) and have a hole through them so you can string them.
See those things between the cuff pieces in >>5835374?
Those are beads. They're like the ones on the long string that you stick up your ass, only smaller.

>Necklace clasps look nothing like that, they'd be far too small for polynians.
Except the ones they make that are bigger than the ones in your picture. They DO come in different sizes, shit-for-brains.

In all of my life of buying jewelery I have never once seen a clasp that would be bigger than what i've posted. Nor have I seen them for sale at craft stores. Or in google search images.

They still wouldnt look like fucking handcuffs either. You're still a fuckwit for thinking they were clasps.

>>5836831
>Anything that can be threaded onto a necklace can be called a bead
And you can call a car a guzzlywhomp if you want to. Doesn't make it right. see pic.

>other shapes
Yup.
Round, oblong, square, oval, polyhedron. Just like in the picture here. Beads have a hole in the center to thread a string or cord through. Charms hang from the string by a small loop. Again, just like the picture.
But you know this. You just got caught being wrong, and can't admit it, so now you want to make the argument that charms and beads are the same thing. They aren't.

>In all of my life of buying jewelery I have never once seen a clasp that would be bigger than what i've posted. Nor have I seen them for sale at craft stores. Or in google search images.

"Jewelery", as you put it, isn't the only thing that uses clasps. Fishing, sporting goods, etc use them as well. And they do make them larger because the kind used for jewelry are too small.

>jewelrey
So wrong you can't even spell the word right.

>They still wouldnt look like fucking handcuffs either.
Except at least one type does. Just like >>5836833 pointed out, the spring ring resembles cuffs. Which is what I thought they were in the picture in question. But no matter how you slice it, if I was wrong or right, they still aren't "beads for necklaces and stuff". Which is what you keep trying to push.

>You're still a fuckwit for thinking they were clasps.
Nope. Easy mistake. And you're still wrong.
>>
>>5836831
>In all of my life of buying jewelery I have never once seen a clasp that would be bigger than what i've posted. Nor have I seen them for sale at craft stores. Or in google search images.
They do make them bigger. I worked as a locksmith for about 12 years, and we used to carry key clasps that were big enough to hold a ring of keys, or secure them to a belt loop, etc. The Lobster Claw and The Spring Ring particularly. There were several sizes available, so there's no reason there aren't some big enough to pass for 1/12 scale handcuffs.

This happens because there was too much sun exposure, right? Is there a way to fix this?
>>
>>5839155
The cause of it is undetermined right now. There are anons with this issue who claim it was kept under LED lights, they had blackout windows (aka no sun exposure) and they cleaned their hands before handling. It could just be some random issue that affects random figures with no way to prevent it.

I have no clue how to fix it because we don't even know what's causing it.
>>
>>5839155
Cause unknown right now. Morphine-Kun's one yellowed even though it had been boxed and was only ever exposed to LED lights. Apparently it yellowed within a few weeks.

My Yume is completely fine and I've had it exposed to both incandescent and fluorescent lighting as well as some moderate sunlight for two weeks.
>>
>>5839194
I had mine back to a window with sunlight with no problem.

I know a lot of people clean there figs when they first get them with a chemical cleaner which could easily be the problem, so did anyone do that?

>>5839155
You could attempt to air brush over it.
>>
>>5839155
Yeah the other anons are right, as of now the cause for this is still unknown. You might have it worse that the three(?) of us though.

>>5839194
Is right about me though. I had LED lights, blackout curtains and she was in her box while I was moving things in my room and that was when I saw it. I just hope its some weird thing that just affects a few and not a widespread thing.
>>
>>5839315
Could it be a reaction caused by the box itself?

Anons with yellowed Yumes, were they boxed when you noticed the yellowing?
>>
Isn't there a chance that the yellowing is just a factory defect?

I mean they're rereleasing her for a reason, probably more than just the ones provided.
>>
>>5839155
>>5839164
>>5839194
>>5839312
>>5839315
>>5839323

Mine was unboxed when the yellowing started (on a shelf, away from sunlight and all the lights in the room are LED), so it can't be the box. Yellowing caused by sun exposure usually takes quite a long time as well, so this is most likely some kind of chemical fuck up from the factory. I've read that flame retardants used in various plastics are often the root cause of yellowing, so I guess maybe they got the ratio of whatever they used wrong in a certain batch? Who knows.

I'm planning on mixing together a hydrogen peroxide paste I've seen people use on vintage electronics and yellowed sneaker soles with decent results. I'm not sure how well it'll work on PVC, but I figured it's worth a try before admitting defeat and buying a reissue Yume. It'll be a couple of weeks until I get the time to buy the ingredients as some of them aren't available where I live. But I'll report back with the results once I do.
>>
>>5839437

Doesn't that stuff fuck up plastics somehow?
>>
>>5839484
Haven't encountered anything saying it's harmful to plastics yet (most articles I've found recommend it because it's supposedly safe). Maybe if you use highly concentrated hydrogen peroxide, but for bleaching yellowed plastic you'd only really need between 3 and 10%, so I dunno why anyone would.

For fuck sake. Is QC just going to be an ongoing issue with this line? They are way too expensive to be having these problems. The whole point of getting rid of panel lines was to make it easier to produce consistently but now we got shit like improperly drilled holes, pre-broken joints hanging on by a thread and now fingerprints on the hair and yellow paint lines running down the faceplates.

I'm about to just give up on the line.
>>
>>5839951

Until the company gets it's shit together and stops being massive shitters who use customer complaints as an excuse not to improve, but to instead offer less for the same price, yeah, yeah QC issues are going to be rampant.

Be cautious, I've got mine posed now but the joints were very, VERY, tight. I almost though I'd break the knee joints because of how much they are resisting to bend.

Not only that, either the water gun had it's handle popped off very easily or I broke the grip part of it incredibly easily. If it's intentional then I'm guessing it's so that it's easier to put the gun on the hand, but this makes the main part of the gun fall off the plug very easily. The hair extras also felt like they'd break in the socket because there was paint dried along with the peg inside the hole preventing the majority of it from turning.
>>
>>5840310

>>
Fuck, speaking of QC issues. A joint broke on my Shammie despite him being only a week old. Time to buy a pack of hobby bases then.
>>
>>5840467
I can confirm they are not removable, at least not by conventional means. The sandal peg seems to be glued into the foot, as I could not remove it from the heel even with a flathead and my nails trying to pry them apart. That and on the inside of the foot the plastic seemed slightly thinner where the sandal peg would be as there's a small crescent shapped error showing blue plastic behind it.
>>
>>5840467
>People are pointing out it could be "fake" if you havent read the responses. people just want a definitive picture showing foot not in sandal so they can sleep at night.
Yup, that's why I asked.

>>5840535
Thanks. Now I know not to risk breaking something by prying them off myself.
>>
>>5840467
>I dont recall any QC issues with the grey Poly's

Some have "yellowed". Mine in particular has too shallow of a leg hole so it doesn't go in all the way. Also the shoulder hole i's too wide so the joint is loose and pops out.
Think another reason I'm bitter is because they dropped the panel lining leading me to have to do a botched job. Seeing how mei STILL has qc issues after being delayed, after cutting back on panel lining ive started to lose interest. Theese figures are too expensive for how minimal the effort they're putting in. Really kind of wish they would have gone in the dimension driver direction in terms of design instead of where they're going now.
>>
>>5840588
I havent heard of any Grey poly's yellowing, links?

>>5840467
>I dont recall any QC issues with the grey Poly's.

One of mine's got a loose shoulder joint, I forget which one. Clover's hair also falls off easily. Good enough for me, but these things are pretty expensive, I can't blame anyone for complaining.

Hopefully they'll get better, and make more gray types while at it.

>>
>>5840811
Thats literally the same shit with every figure from any brand. I don't think I've ever owned a figure that was 100% perfect. Loose joints, tight joints, something slips off, accessory doesn't stay on, accessory wont fit so on and so forth.
>>
>>5839741
Mine came out just fine. Like my Yume and grey Shamrock. I've been winning the flawless figure lottery for the past few releases.

But ditto what>>5840310 said about the water gun. The handle got stuck in her fist and the top popped off. Be gentle or have glue ready.
>>
>>5840964

I've owned several that were perfect out of the box. Got my first poly a few days ago (grey Shamrock) and his left leg hole is a bit loose and the left knee joint is wonky (though heating it seemed to help).

For how little these figures come with, no faceplates, no extra hair, little paint, only one set of extra hands, no misc. accessories, AND the removal of features like panel lining, each one should be fucking flawless out of the box.
>>
So the only Polynians that aren't broken are Shamrock's original release and both Clovers?

Only real issues with mine were the hair pegs being stuck due to some excess paint, if you hold it by the base it's easily doable to free them up. The front hair piece was stuck as well so needed a bit of prying to loosen up.

The only other real problem is a very slight bit of white on the side of her hair piece, only really visible when really close in.

Even with that she still feels much better overall than Yume (and mine was one of the better ones.)
>>

Her eyes are higher or is that just the angle? If they are higher that just looks weird.

No. My Yume and grey are fine along with my newly unboxed Mel. My original Clover has a super loose faceplate and waist.

Where did you pre-order from? HLJ have Mel in stock right now so no need to wait on second hand market if you can order her from there.

Even if not Clover and Shamrock got reissues and Yume is getting one as well- i'd find it hard to believe Mel wouldn't get one later on.

Last Shot, sorry for all the pictures was trying out a new camera at the same time.

Overall Daibaidi scratches a very particular itch and Mel feels like a marked improvement in terms of construction. The only concern I would have is that Mel is competitively simple and the test would be if that sturdyness can be carried through to something a bit more complicated like Vania.

Okay, had a little photo shoot with Mel. She is great and like others have mentioned, a real step up from Yume.

I guess I'll list the bit of issues I had. The gun like other have said didn't fit into the hand at first but I dipped her hand in hot water and it works great now. I did the same thing to her sandal attachment things since they wouldn't go on. I also had to use a bit of force with the hair piece since it was kinda stuck in there.

Still though, I'm liking Mel more than Yume now since I can pose her around and have more fun with her. Hope everyone else gets theirs soon.

Oh yeah, I dont think the gun handle is supposed to come off, I can see some glue on mine so its possible that it just ended up getting stuck in the hand and was unglued. Or it didn't have enough glue to begin with.

Last thing. Here's a photo of one of Mel's faceplates next to one of Yume's. The eyes are the same height on both faces. At least to me. It does kinda look like Mel has just slightly larger eyes though. Just wanted to put this up since I didn't see a side by side comparison of the two posted yet.
>>
>>5842652
I think it is supposed to come off so that it doesn't break off. The handle has a notch so it only fits one way. It was just paint stuck on mine (no indication of glue). The notch helps it stick back in securely.

Shame but you're missing out.

Anyway made a discovery while playing around with Mel some more. One of her sandals felt a bit loose so i gave it a quick pull while gripping it at the heel and it came right off.

The other sandal needed a little more prying(thin bit of metal/ wood placed between the sole of the foot and the sandal then just carefully work it loose then just pull apart at the heel again.

No permanent damage, sandals still hold on solidly when in place so it's should be possible to get Mel barefoot with practically no effort.

Pic related( and I missed out on Clover so no trickery with swapping parts over.)

It really isn't too hard. For panties cut off the round part of the Bali in so there's room to spare. Pop the legs off and fit/ stretch the baloon around the pelvis and pop the legs back on through the Bali in so you know where the leg holes will be. Now you can either carefully cut the excess off while on the fig or draw an outline and cut it once you've taken it off.

For tops cut the round piece off, pop the arms and head off and slide the figure up the Bali in until you're happy with how tight it is. Pop the arms on through the baloon and either carefully cut or mark where you want to cut. The mouth piece yo the baloons make for a wicked turtle neck.

>>5843585
Depends on the baloons. I kept a red bloon on revoltech csttleya and worse that happened was dome of the baloon powder stuff transfered to the fig which washed off with ease.
