Monthly Building Challenge:
Your challenge this month is to design a Microfighter for a vehicle that doesn't have one yet. It can be of any property, as long as it has 100 or less pieces, seats 1 minifig, and is cute and chibi. Get swooshing!

Will we ever get any real castle sets?

Nexo Knights is cool and all, but they're expanding this line when the last castle theme only got a handful of sets. I wish that we could return to the days of dozens of castle sets like in the early 90s.
>>
>>5821540
Yup, if it wasn't at an Italian seller only I may even consider it. Plus I'm not too hot on the idea of fleshie Fury having a beard.
>>
>>5821552
>Will we ever get any real castle sets?

Yes. Stop whining about it. You'll get your boring walled courtyards again. For now just enjoy something fresh.

If you can't wait, buy any of the castle sets from the last 25 years.
>>
>>5821587
I appreciate your jackassery. Really, I do.

I love old castle sets, but I'm not paying crazy scalper prices of for sets a few years old.
>>
>>5821602
Yeah, castle is sickeningly expensive on the aftermarket for some weird reason.
I blame troopbuilders.
>>
>>5821602
Try BrickLink?
>>
>>5821552
The Angry Bird castle is $70 marked down from $90 on Amazon currently. It's only okay in design but pretty excellent as a castle parts pack if you can provide the troops.
>>
>>5821602
>I appreciate your jackassery. Really, I do.

Just as I appreciate every week someone asks if 'we'll ever get classic castle again'. Castle is a perpetual theme, so of course they'll go back to it. But the castle stuff between 2007 and 2013 was boring retreads (at least the human stuff, the trolls and dwarves were neat stuff). Nexo Knights is a good refresh of the genre, adding to it the same elements that made Ninjago a success. So enjoy the ride, and go hunting for a good deal on something classic if that's what you need.
>>
>>5821617
What I can't understand is why LotR is never mentioned, Helm's Deep was a great set and seems to be ignored by angry castle fans who probably also ignored the boring 2013 line.
>>
>>5821631
Good point. I tend to forget about LotR since they're licensed, instead of being traditional Castle. Probably the same reason people don't think PotC for Pirate stuff.

Continuing the discussion from the older thread:
If LEGO were to hypothetically adopt the Pokémon license, what would their best course of action be?
Brick-built would be intensely shitty, but new molds for every single one of the 720+ Pokémon would be expensive as all hell.

You fucking what? Care to elaborate on that retarded statement?
>>
>>5822945
I (the one you responded to) agree. I love fleshies. I think that they really add a ton of detail and soul to minifigs. I'm actually a bit of an autist about minifigures - they're half of the appeal for me when it comes to LEGO. For the most part, LEGO sets are just environments that my minifigures can roam around in and react to. For that reason, I really love fleshies and the more "realistic" (if you could call it that) aesthetic they bring to minifigures.
When I make custom minifigures, they're always fleshies.
However, if it's a miscellaneous townsperson who doesn't have a name (and not in the badass Man with No Name Clint Eastwood way),
>>5822950
I will admit that that part of my statement was placed there purely to get someone to reply with a solid brick-built Pokémon (see Cunningham's Law).
However, that's not really minifig-scale, is it? When I say brick-built Pokémon would be shitty, I mean minifig-scale brick-built Pokémon would be shitty.
>>5822942
I like that idea a lot! Release them in generations.

Yes, obviously. They'd all be 5 plates tall and have next to no detail. If tlg were to make a pokemon line, they'd have to develop sets that aren't minifig scale.

If the sets weren't minifig-scale, then they'd die out after the first wave (see: Ben 10, Toy Story).
People simply don't like LEGO action figures.
>>5822969
>>maybe integration with some online or mobile game
How'd that work, I wonder? LEGO is physical.
>>bundle evolutions together
Excellent idea, actually.

If TLG did end up making a Pokémon line, how do you think they'd end up distributing the Pokémon? There's simply too many, even in Gen I, to distribute them purely through location sets.
I imagine the majority would be distributed through polybags - which would actually be amazing. Think about it. For purchases of $15 and up at the LEGO Store, a badass Red minifigure with a special Pokémon backpack and a sweet hat? A CMF line of the Gen I legendaries? A giveaway at SDCC of Normal-type Arceus?
And, of course, every 8000 sets there'd be one set that is "misprinted" and has a shiny Pokémon.
>>
>>5823015
>People simply don't like LEGO action figures.
Mixles says you're wrong.
>>
>>5823047
i wouldn't call those actionfigurey since they use such generic parts (except for the eyes)
In essence lego is a building toy ofcourse, even the more poopy stuff like the ben 10 constraction builds that strayed away from that a bit.

I think people want either an accurate posable representation of a character (wich in a small scale is more fit for traditional action figures) OR a highly customizable building set.
>>
>>5823059
If TLG does come out with Pokémon, I hope to God they don't go the CCBS/Constraction route. I want my Pokémon to interact with my minifigures.

Man, TFU had all the stuff to be another Shadows of the Empire. Too bad they dropped the ball on it.

I read you can fix old scratched up transparent pieces by dipping them in floor polish (liquid acetone). I just tried it. They looked good until they got dry. Then they looked back to before. Am I doing it wrong, or does it not work?

they're 'toys' if you play with them. thats what a toy is. parents, neets and afols all watch these vids. and yes, there is a high level of faggotry involved in reviewing a sets swooshability and play features. I'm personally not super into that aspect myself. but they're toys after all. and toys are for kids. and who doesn't want to be a kid? with toys. and a house, a job, and a girl? I'm ok with this.

I always have a long list of things I want to make and use Google image often. I scrap a lot of builds that visibly don't impress anyone. I do that and find so many useful pieces that would otherwise not be available for the next inspiration. Organise your pieces. Practice!

So I'm one that doesn't love or hate it.

The non-compatibility and overall aesthetic, plus it's more about having an action figure you just snap together than building. Not much you can do with it. The old bionicle stuff looked really ugly. Glad that was during my dark age.

I did want to grab one of the first generation of these new ones though for a monster for my minifigs to fight though. Either the jungle or water one. Too bad I missed them.

I'm a sucker for medieval and space themes. Pirates too, but I feel nothing will ever come close to 90's pirates. I've had Knights before (the sets with cards shaped like a shield) but they weren't the best, and from what I've seen Nexo is pretty much the same, only more modern?

I don't know, just looking anything fun to get me back into it right now.

Spray Paint removal update: I soaked the pieces in Simple Green for two days. Within the first day, most of the spray paint came off, leaving some residue. Surprisingly, the one printed wall piece did not lose its printing.

The bubbles were gone and there was a bunch of gunk floating in the liquid. I removed the pieces and agitated the solution until it got bubbly again. No noticeable improvement from the day before.

I tried scrubbing with a brush and scraping with the back end of a butter knife, as one YouTube video advised. Made some difference, but but not much.

I dumped out the old solution and put a new one. Am I doing it right?

They're doing Saturn V for Ideas, though.

With Bionicle dead, TLG needs to reboot Exo-Force with CCBS to replace Bionicle. It'd be fucking amazing.
>>
>>5828537
CCBS is too bulky to interact well with minifigs.
>>
>>5828537
With the sheer amount of mechs shoehorned into other licences there's no way they'd ever re-boot a line devoted to nothing but mechs.

shit

to be fair it is longer than normal and actually has room for an opening engine compartment. Which would be nice if i had built a fucking engine to put in it.
>>
>>5828116
I'm so conflicted between this and the Battle of Takodana because both of the Kylo figs are super cool but the styles are completely different.

>>5826436
I'll take some snapshots of it dismantled in the morning it's super easy to make and I managed to incorporate almost all the pieces in the set.
>>
>>5828590
The Command Shuttle Kylo looks way better tbqh. The helmet is way too oversized. The mask and the hood is perfect.
>>
>>5828218
if i can't buy lego, i buy enlighten. like the other anon said, quality varies greatly. some figs are downright awesome, while some are such shit they break during assembly.

With bionicle dead TLG needs to learn to better integrate CCBS and technic(like on that new Star Wars droid coming out from Rogue one) to avoid shitting up more things that could be good.

Thanks!! The xj is my own design then I actually stole the design of the YJ (it was originally in jurassic Park colors on Flickr, I'd give credit if I remembered the user name) then designed my own role cage. he didn't have any instructions I looked at the picture reverse engineered it. Is there an easy way to show how to build something? Because if there was I'd share with you
>>
>>5829010
For the XJ, could I recommend using some 1x1 blocks instead of the 2x2 plate on the walls of the car? I think it might look a lot better.
>>

It seems to use a lot of Technic pins and bricks with side studs. Just replace it all with tan bricks or a colorful mystical swirl.

Guys first time having a brick issue with relatively new pieces. Had hairline split on 4 of the same bricks that came from 2 mixel sets. Only used them in the original build and then one MOC. Used the center hole and had a bottom connection. 2 were used in the MOC while the other 2 were not used after the Mixel was disassembled.

Going to try to get Lego to replace. Common problem with this brick or possible mold issue?

Block Tech brand is crap.

But there's a couple interesting pieces. These 1x1 round plates have a hole through them and a bar thing sticking out. Also 4x4 tile in close-enough-to-Lego-purple purple.
>>
>>5829651
The switch to China making parts is really showing with some of their newer stuff. I think the Minifigure series started doing that and it's noticeable.
>>
>>5829652
Those 1x1 studs with bar were originally a Megablocks piece, I have some from over a decade ago.

Megablocks also had a 2x2 plate with studs on both sides, with the plate part being exactly one plate thick unlike the other copies that are out that are thicker or thinner.
