The sad part is that the reason the Play Arts Kai Variant works is because we know it's just a variant design made to look like a SQUENIX product. The actual JL costume on the other hand is something that DC/WB will go on to push as a "regular" look for Flash which is just all kinds of wrong.

I preordered the DC Collectibles one over Mafex because it had the Kryptonite Grenade Launcher, but I'm still having doubts about it.

It's a great figure but I don't know if it's worth the $110. It's pretty hefty and I think some of the armor is real metal. My biggest complaints are the cape and the shoulder pieces. The cape is too thick to have a natural drape so it looks stiff in some poses. I thought the armor on his shoulders would be held on by magnets like Mezco did with Dredd but it's not so it slips down occasionally. The accessories are pretty good though; the grenade launcher is attached to a strap that you can place across Batman's chest and I'm pretty sure the kryptonite spear is diecast. The light up eyes are pretty neat, too.

They're from SDCC and from what i could tell, they're samples from the factories.
Hopefully they improve the paint, because teh sculpt themselves are pretty well done. Can't say that whateverhernameis from Krypton looks like the actress though. It's just so-so, but everyone else is spot on.

And i agree, they are not worth the price (as they were at SDCC). The increase in articulation doesn't look worth it, especially when their $20 figures already feature as much as they do and have better paint apps.

Their shitty two-in-one hip joint has broken more figures than any of their previous QC fuck-ups.

Plus the shit ton of reported breaks with the Reeve Superman, which got so bad that they had to make a second batch at a different factory just to fulfill replacements.

And let's not forget the fact that there's way more thigh swivel peg shears than ever, since they had the braindead idea of making the hip joint out of the same heat-treatable plastic as the thighs, which means heat unlocking (a necessity of Neca figures) is now riskier than ever.

Not accounting for articulation, this looks good so far. Only thing I wonder is if it will fit better with the 7" DCC figures since it's listed as being 6.75" tall.

I've been going to SDCC since 1989. I've gone every year since then.
It's been a circus since 1995 or 1996, it just wasn't as full as it is today. If you don't remember, Hollywood started taking over sections of the comic con since Lord of the Rings, which was 2001.

Taken over by people selling trades instead of comics, because they're way easier to read and store. There's still tons of comics being sold though. The Golden/Silver Age section is still there and there are dollar bins everywhere, which is a big hint on why vendors don't want sell them there anymore.

Just adding swivel joints is actually one of the easier mods you can do to a figure, you can use a screw as the peg, it's just a matter of if you feel confident you can make it look nice and you can like not fuck it up. With a DCC figure in particular I'd be afraid of chipping a ton of the paint off in the process.
