Hey /LG/. Here's a little robot buddy I've been working on. He's not totally done; I plan to use hinge plates like his knees to build his elbows, I'm not yet happy with his hands, and his torso's not fully fleshed out, plus the color scheme's a bit crap, but I'm happy with the progress so far.

Yep! I got mine right when the set came out and the stand does a great job of supporting the weight.

I also did a small tweak to the base: I moved the info plate onto one of the other sides, so the orientation of the Slave I is at an angle. I think it looks aesthetically better.

It's possible that lego is not allowed to use that piece. I heard somewhere that some molds for licensed pieces (like alien heads from star wars or something along those lines) actually belong to the company which owns that franchise, since it's clearly based on their intellectual property. That's false. They've used the One Ring in Creator sets, Elven blades in Ninjago, and the Lich King's crown in the Disney Castle. The original lightsaber hilt is very clearly based on Obi-Wan's specific model, but it's gone on to be used in every theme. Wolverine's claws and the Mjolnir were used in the Monster Fighters theme, which released the same year as the first Avengers sets. Thestrals in Harry Potter eventually became the generic skeletal horse piece.

There's no rights ownership when it comes to Lego pieces. The only reason you don't see most character helmets outside of their original theme is because they're too specific to be used anywhere else.

It's a pretty sweet model. I actually didn't enjoy building it the first time, but its modular nature meant I could try rebuilding it out-of order. Started with the grabber, cab and tipper bed, did the boring things last.

Also, get an air tank or two in that bugger so you don't have to wait several minutes to use functions consecutively. It makes a big difference.

They're worth it for the parts alone if you like vehicles, the new wheels and sloped hood pieces are fantastic as well as the windshields if you're not going 2-fig interiors.

The fenders I can do without, though, given that they basically force you to use the big chunky wheels and aren't as easy to kludge into place as with the standard City style ones.

I just bought a lot of mid 80s to mid 90s lego. The problem is the guy spray painted a bunch of pieces silver to make a castle all one color. Can I remove the spray paint without damaging the lego? If so, how?

Depends on the paint. Vinyl paint can be stripped pretty easily.

Just saw on their site that the Civil War Spidey set is out, so we went there to snag it. While we were there we found the ghost rider set, the new scarecrow set and one of the other ones. Grabbed Ghost Rider and Civil war set, get to the counter.

Ghost Rider set scans just fine, but they wouldnt let us buy the Civil War set because its official release date is the first. The same as the GR set. They even sent a flunky into the aisle to clear off the CW sets and take them back into storage.

Also no Series 16s, but that doesnt surprise me, they didnt even stock any of the Disney figs either.

Fucking love this figure. And I am willing to bet if you were good with an xacto knife, you MIGHT be able to separate the flames from the head. I can see the damned stud in there, and it feels like theres a seam where the flames meet the head.

And heres his chariot. Wasnt a fan of it based on just the pictures, but once I built it, I fell in love with it. Did a few custom changes on it like flipping the back wheel to give it a proper chopper profile, extended the exhaust system, added some extra chains for looks, and the gold chains as a set of "reins" for it. I see this bike as an uncontrollable beast that has to be tamed or reined in.

I figure ill be modding the fuck out of the thing constantly, but I want to also build a more tame, realistic looking bike for GR. Anyone got any good minifig bike builds I can see for inspiration?

Also not a fan of him just having plain black legs, any good black printed legs for him out there?
