So much for that big unveiling.

Man, I want a Voltron but I already have a lot going in December already.

When do we get one based on Legendary Defender?

Hopefully we see something at SDCC...something that will actually come out this time...

What went wrong?
>>
>>5801007
Thankfully have nothing for December yet. But having to stalk the site to wait for pre-orders to pop up is gonna be a pain.

Figured it'd be north of $300...

Would it have killed them to include those one-off weapons for that much? Oh wait- that's what online exclusives are for.
>>

The preorder price is 25980 yen

Still gonna be almost that much, once shipping is factored in...

Just be patient. Don't pre-order. A lot of them will sit around and will eventually go on sale.

Yeah, they'll open again. Just keep checking back. Bookmark the page.
>>
>>5801792
>>5801813

I'm not going to be as optomistic as that guy, but there's a good chance to still get it at a reasonable price.

Set up a figinstock restock alert for the major sites, watch the US retailers, etc.

Even if you have to get it from Mandrake, its likely to show up at near retail prices.

I would like to assume that, due to Nostalgia and better name recogniton, Voltron/GoLion would sell better than GaoGaiGar. (and remember, GaoGaiGar got a 2nd run... THOSE are the ones that shelfsat. There's no guarentee GoLion will)

That's fucking awesome. I just hope they eventually do a Dairugger as well.

If the chrome they use isn't complete trash and you're careful with it, it shouldn't get fucked up so easily. I own 10 years old Saint Seiya Cloth Myth figures and the chrome still looks fine.

But yeah, one must be extra careful with those pieces.

Probably since bigbadtoystore already have it up , but you never know , Blufin has been slacking lately on updating what's coming. The licensing could be the only thing that will stop Blufin from bring it over to the USA . But since it's not macross there shouldn't be any issues with that .
>>
>>5803483
Couldn't they just have used metal instead of chrome. UGH.

>>
>>5803564
At certain size I think you need to distribute weight so the toy wont topple over.
>>

Oh god!
>>
>>5803627
You can do that with die-cast that doesn't involve joints.

>>
Damn. I was hoping Playmates might show some of their early Voltron prototypes or some shit at SDCC.

Probably too much to ask for. But why the hell aren't those coming out until Spring of next year, anyway?
>>
>>5803643
I was talking about die-cast, not joints.
>>
>>5803665
Not sure, but it largely depends on how well the manufacturer did the chrome.

Beast Wars figures for example, some have chrome that's pretty much perfect if you treat toy well to this day. Some figures however flake off like nothing, even if it was previously MISB.

I'm not completely sure if it helps, but I just apply an even layer of Pledge floor polish on the chromed parts for protection. Not sure if it'd help from possible flaking in the future, but it soothes my mind that it's less likely to get fine scratches.
>>
>>5803222
>Go-Lion and Voltron plaques.
That's an unexpected and nice touch.
>>
So if they're skipping to 71, that must mean that 70 is going to be a big deal right?

With Robot Damashii Bandai skipped to 101 just so that they could give #100 to Strike Gundam. What do you think? Another Mazinger? Mazinkaiser or Shin Getter, finally? Hopefully it's not something fucking stupid.
>>
>>5803700
The legs of the robot lions are jointed, buddy. If it's going to be die-cast, that's going to include the joints.
>>
>>5803709
I was talking about the reason to have die-cast in general, to put more weight at the bottom, not arguing about joint types.
>>
>>5803718
And I agree to an extent, but it's stupid to insist die-cast instead of the chromed parts (which include the lion's leg joints).

That was the argument.
>>
>>5803721
For bigger toys, I'm saying it's necessary to have heavy materials at certain parts of the body. Mass increases at greater rate than size. You can't pose say both arms sticking out forward if the lower body was not heavier. It's just about increasing the stability of the figure, not about joints giving out or something.
>>
>>5803705
Dairugger XV, obviously.

Seriously though, since the SRC Giant Robo just came out, could it be an SoC Giant Robo?
>>
>>5803731
Yes, but to have it in the chromed areas as suggested is fucking stupid, because it will include the joints of the lions (also sword, and given it's size it's not necessary).
That's the entire point. I don't get how you're missing it.

And guess what, it's a SOC. SOCs do have metal areas, you don't have to worry about that.
Just whether it's placed strategically is another thing.
>>
>>5803743
Why release the same character people already bought? People who likes GR will just go nah I already got one. Better to give more time.
>>
Would this be the best Voltron figure out when its released or do you guys have any other suggestions?
>>
>>5803758
Toynami's release, but make sure you do not get the die-cast version. Don't know if their latest release is any better, as I haven't paid attention to it.

I'd wait until the SOC comes out and decide.
>>
>>5803748
I missed >>5803531 post was responding to
>I don't understand the boner for die-cast.

Yes chrome is better so it won't increase weight at unnecessary areas. Need to keep centre of gravity low with die-cast.
>>
>>5803758
For starters the lions seem to be the best articulated ones, yellow and blue have a middle body joint so they can sit properly and all of them can move their legs outwards.
>>
>>5803769
nipmoot needs to seriously get IDs on all boards.
>>
>>5803483
The gap between the chest V and the belt is way too wide. Combined with the silver show hips instead of the toy's black completely throws off the color balance.
>>
>>5803803
On the other hand the black hips on the Toynami one make the upper legs look short as fuck, add to that that the lower legs are way too long, the head too big and the wings are too small and it doesn't look as accurate as most people seem to believe. They're just used to look at the Toynami, that's all. As far as proportions goes there's no clear winner.
>>
>>5803788
oh fuck off you plebbit faggot

I'm sure they intend to do something important.

Would be funny, a curve ball, if it was Gundam but recreating the original Chogokin toy.

Is anything having an anniversary this year?

Hopefully someone can answer this for me: the only chogokin I have is the mmpr mega zord and that cost me like $40-$50 at a Barnes and Noble a few years back. Soul of Chogokins are about 10-12 inches, which this guy is.

Super Robot Chogokin are about half the size, which is probably what you have going with the price point and being Daizyujin/Megazord.

Gokin is a blanket term for robot toys with diecast parts, Chogokin is Bandai's/POPY's lines (Soul of, Super Robot, DX, Super Imaginative) and there are EX-Gokin, Brave Gokin, Max Gokin, etc etc.

Just google the term.

>>
>>5813922
>>5813933
That's cute but when you'll be able to differentiate a prototype from a testshot, maybe you'll realize that these issues are caused by bad engineering. The testshot itself is pretty much in perfect state whether it's shit or not is irrelevant.
>>
>>5813982
It's called a test shot, you dumbfuck.

They haven't refined it yet. It's for testing. The word test, boy. It's in the name. Are you trying to test us, boy?
>>
>>5813982
Like I said I've seen plenty of test shots in much better shape that that. It clear its been handled and transformed many times resulting in its current state.
>>
>>5813582
That makes how many SOC Mazingers?
>>
>>5813989
It's a colored testshot, colored testshots are the last step of production before the final product, they're used to test the colors and nothing else.
>>5814000
Like I said, it's in perfect shape. Being in good shape doesn't mean it has to hold up to YOUR standards, it simply means it's like it's supposed to be. Being in good shape = being in mint state whatever that mint state is. Again colored testshots are made to test the colors, chance are this thing has been transformed less than you'll transform your final product.

Keep reassuring yourself all you want but a few posts ago you weren't even able to tell a prototype from a colored testshot and here you are trying to argue you know better what's going on. That's a little ridiculous.

Funny enough I ordered the original Toynami Voltron from them. But you have to put 20% down payment right? Not to mention they'll more than likely won't get him til a month later.
>>
>>5814305
I don't care if you're baiting, you're absolutely retarded.

A testshot by nature is not indicative of the final product. They still tweak things until final production run is approved.

Now end your life in a chemical explosion, you fucking idiot.
>>
>>5814554
Pay now and save $50 or pay more later. How much is a $50 saving worth to you?
>>
>>5814538
Why not just go through Amazon? In my experience, Amazon will replace the whole thing all expenses paid if there's a single god damn scratch on it. Plus free two day shipping with Prime. That's why I go with them.

I live in Oregon where we have no sales tax and I have no idea what you're talking about.

Lucky you friend...
>>
>>5814634
so you perfer to pay $300 instead of $250?
>>
>>5814695
Well no, but I missed the ticket on that kind of discount anyway.
>>
>>5814718
the discount code still works, so you didn't miss anything if you still want to get it.
>>
>>5814735
It's a good deal, but I'm all about contingency. I've received one too many defected items from less experienced stores with more flimsy return policies and have had to pay the price.

Especially when I'm paying upwards of 200 dollars for a toy, I want to be guaranteed something that isn't the littlest bit defective. If I were to order from that store, sure it's 50 bucks cheaper, but if it shows up with scratched paint or something I might have spend 50 dollars to send the thing back to them and get a new one. With Amazon, hassle free and complementary returns are part of the service. So that extra 50 down is almost like insurance. It's also likely I'll receive it faster.

Maybe I'm a little autistic about the condition of my Chogokin though.
>>
>>5814798
I order chogokin from amazon in the pass and their packaging sucks. there's like 2 air bags in the shipping box. Chogokin box have dents on 3 of the corners. They also cancel preorders without telling me.

Dude, it's a prototype. They often get joints that are just barely functional.
>>
>>5814857
Go bait somewhere else.
>>
>>5814872
No, seriously. The joints are often slapped together and are usually loose as hell. That's why stands are almost always needed for bugmen protos and whatnot. David Silva, the beast of the meso kikestarter, even said as much.
>>
>>5814886
It's not a prototype. Read the thread.

Youre all fucking retarded.

If you're autism cant stand the proportions, dont fucking buy it.

If your autism cant stand the floppiness, dont fucking buy it.

If your autism cant stand the inaccuracy from the anime, dont fucking buy it.

If you want it, fucking buy it.

All of you just look like attention whoring socially neglected idiots arguing about stupid pointless shit because of dumbfuck reasons instead of being happy more options for toys of your supposedly much loved robot from your childhood exists.

All of you should grow the fuck up

Looks like you're new to SOC my young friend. Not every SOC is Gaogaigar or God Sigma.
>>
>>5815640
You'll be hard pressed to find a recent SoC that is as floppy and dissassembles as easily as that test shot when you first remove it from its box, though.

Totally love my voltron it's heavy af
