I'm the guy that posted it not him.

And I don't really care, sex sells, and who wants to look at a toy that's gonna get redeco'd into oblivion.

Next time could you post slipstream instead, thanks

None are perfect, I personally like the old classics mold, some prefer the little legends class, then we got the old legions which look nifty, and apparently some like the look of the leader jetfire retool over the mp?

We're doomed with seekers and their design, but least they aren't parts formers like the g1 toys were

It carries the visage of g1 while updating it a fair bit, yes its blocking and arm articulation is hindered by its wings, but...it just suits them, the jet mode being an f14/f15 hybrid, the bot mode just looks the part of a classic seeker.

I honestly love the mold, and the final piece is coming in the mail

Every time a new line hits people complain about the "plastic quality". Every time there is an uproar about the "plastic quality" it never amounts to anything. We never see masses of broken toys outside of a few odd occurrences like CW G2 Silverbot's fist hinges. There has yet to be a modern TF toy line were the "plastic quality" amounts to anything more than weird fanboys being weird fanboys.

When is this nonsense going to end?

What's worse is I got a RtS Perceptor today too who had a little tab broken off where his windshield meets the top of the vehicle. I'm still mulling over if I want to go through the hassle and expense of returning two toys that got mailed out broken.

At least on Perceptor it's not a major part and doesn't bear and kind of load, but I'm afraid that if I leave it it'll just drive me crazy. I'm sure some of you know how it gets- there's one broken piece or something and then that's all you'll ever be able to focus on.

First off, I'd like to apologise for the low photo quality as the sun has just gone down here and so my conservatory is a much less reliable source of light.

Secondly, I originally thought this impossible - because 2013 Metroplex's foreleg trays open inwards instead of outwards as 80s Metroplex's foreleg trays do. This is why, typically, 2013 'Plex needs to have his legs splayed wide, to create the necessary space between them.

However, using the heretical picture here >>5791688 for inspiration, I realised that if you rotate his waist a full 180 degrees and swing his legs under him so that they're facing backwards (indicated by wheels-up on the thighs) his foreleg trays do indeed open outward when you configure his base mode.

As a result, it's possible to get him quite close to the picture you supplied me with - but is alas impossible to get his breast ramp to fall outside of the foreleg trays. This configuration also leaves you with two handgun/towers and one big red gun (if you have SDCC or Takara) to place as you see fit.

Hope this helps!

I got my first Titans Returns figures today, Hardhead, Scourge, and Skullcruncher. They also had Sentinel Prime, but I'm waiting on Astrotrain.

These guys are way more fun as individual robots than Combiner Wars figures, but I liked the combining feature more than I do the Headmasters. I do enjoy the headmasters and their gimmicks, though, and plan to pick up individual Masters when they start showing up. Hardhead is absolutely the best, a great figure all around. Scourge is much better than I thought he'd be, very solid, fun transformation. Skullcruncher has a great alt mode, but his hips are so terrible as to make his robot mode worthless.

As someone who grew up with G1, it's all in the aesthetic. A good robot animal (no matter the source) is solid, blocky, and clearly robotic. The less shellforming the better, too.

former transfag here. how do combiners work? does any limb attach to the main body the same way as the others do, or do they have to be a specific character?
>>
>>5791510
It's not whiny when the statement is valid. There's over 6 threads. It's autism to "need" to have the thread on page one.
>>
>>5791968
Well, in the case of Transmetals, the robot modes are designed to be avery organic and not very G1, more like Guyver esque biomecha. Its an aesthetic I really like, but I can see why G1 purists wouldn't like it; its far from the 80's takara mecha style(but not that far from Microman, all things considered)

A better point might be why they wouldn't like realistic beasts, which theoretically fit more into the "Robots in disguise" idea(which is why I prefer them myself; I like actual disguises for transformers over fictional alt-modes for the most part.)
>>
>>5792082
Combiner Wars limbs are completely interchangeable.
>>
>>5792082
Within the same line, yes. Like any Combiner Wars Deluxe can work as a limb, same for Energon and G1 Scramble City-type combiners. Other lines have some per-case funkiness.

They're universal among the line, sans Devastator. Each limb bot has a ratcheted block in their torso that slides into a slot on the torso bot. Arm modes are basically bot mode with head and arms tucked away, legs clipped together, and leg modes are basically vehicle mode with the front chunk of the vehicle shifted/folded forward and a port exposed at the bottom.

>that description fits black arachnia too hilariously enough

blackarachnia is my favorite, but i won't lie. she wasn't always perfect. in the first season, she was absolutely terrible, especially in episodes like A Better Mousetrap, The Spark, and The Trigger Part 2.

Bobby and Larry wanted a girl in the show, but they put one in before they had a story for her. Of course she had to have some kind of character, so they went with the most eye-rolling, unimaginative traits. She's a girl, but of course she beats up the guys with no problem and is smarter than them too. They way she talks is so empty too, like a witch in a shitty corny episodic saturday morning cartoon. It's 2 cent characterization, and it's painful to watch.

Once they figured out an actual story for her, all that went away, and by season 3 she was top tier waifu material. She was so adorable trying to fit in with the Maximals but then getting btfo by Primal, Rhinox, and Rattrap, and sexually harassed by Cheetor and Silverbolt on a regular basis.
>>
>>5792492
Yeah. Sure. Everything has to be about robots being gay in IDW. It can't be that a person can actually have criticisms for a toy.

I've always enjoyed BlackArachnia a lot, even beyond the boobies aspect. She ends up being one of the more dynamic characters in the franchise, and it was always interesting to see what she'd do next. I never saw her 96 toy andnot having her was a huge hole in my collection as a kid; and I remember seeing her TMII version on a crosssell on another toy and being amazed she was getting a new figure. Finally getting that Transmetal 2 BlackArachnia for my 9th birthday was great.

Really wish we got a new version of her in another series. She's not just a 'Con fembot; she's a history buff, an inventor/mechanist, and a loner. People say Airachnid was a BA expy; but honestly she was closer to a Rule 63 Tarantulas.
>>
>>5792519
Wheelie guy here. In every review I've seen of the toy, the reviewer ended up taking the whole arm off during transformation. I can say that has actually never happened with mine. The joints are just too loose to hold any weight but it's not like he has a weapon to hold any way.

An actual crack on the figure is pretty infuriating though. The fact that this was packed and sold instead of being tossed straight into the rubbish bin is pretty unforgivable.

>>
>>5792585
I'm not quite sure how the whole licensing thing for Macross works. I don't think Bandai own the franchise(or even have part ownership) themselves, and they've yet to do a 1/60-ish VF-1. Seemingly Arcadia still has the rights to do just that. Its possible Takara could do something sized inbetween 1/60 and the Hi-MEtal stuff, but its just as likely that contracts Bandai and arcadia have make them getting the license for transforming figures impossible until their contracts expire.

still, its nice to dream.

IDW WAS some of the best fiction we had up until Dark Cybertron. Then JR became overindulgent and RiD became a meandering slog.

The best comparison is Last Stand of the Wreckers and Sins of the Wreckers. One is a concise standalone story with powerful themes and strong characters, and the other is throwing cameos into a blender. LSotW is the TDKR and Sins is the Civil War 2 of Transformers Comics.

What's the best nemesis prime?
>>
>>5792820

The worst that can happen is it won't work, or need a few applications, but as long as there something in there for it to build upon, it should work.

Was there a Nemesis repaint of the BH Voyager Prime? That one would be pretty rad for a Nemesis.

I still think the original CR Black convoy/RiD scourge the best. The updates of G2 Optimus and the 3Pp ones that imitate it don't capture the simplicity that just made the design work.

I'm also really particular about how I want a Nemesis to look; I want him to look more armored up and weaponized compared to his Optimus counterpart. That's why I liked the Optimus/scourge dynamic so much in RiD. Compared to RiD Optimus, scourge looked way better built and stronger outside supermode; he had a more armed base, too. He had his own fighting style and stood out on his own as a corrupt version of Optimus. Where as, most Optmus repaints just seem like variants. MP-10B is cool, but its just a black Optimus to me. Yeah, scourge was ultimately just a redeco of an Optims toy, but one that barely had any fiction, so he ended up owning that body better than Optimus did.The two other NPs that I feel best harkened back to what I liked about Scourge have been Universe Nemesis Prime(the Big Convoy repaint), and TFGo! NP(based on Beast Hunters Optimus). In both cases, the molds practically work better as villains.

They never released the brown-chested one. It seems that the fan response to it was too negative, so they cancelled production on that.

yup
>>
>>5792866
They already put forth the effort of designing the color layout, which on their end would've been the most work anyway. Whatever reason they had for not doing it, laziness isn't the word.
>>
>>5792009

I can second this. After years of hearing about Future and never getting a bottle, I got myself a bottle of pic related last week to try out. It works so much better than super glue or nail polish (which I used with only middling success for years now). Pledge is extremely solid and leaves only a hint of residue, and it has been holding up longer and is tighter so far than using other products. A light coat on Skullcruncher's loose hips and he's transformed into an immaculate figure. A+ would buy again (in ten years when I run out).
>>
>>5792909
Remember when Sinner Twin got upscaled to a Beast Hunters deluxe and then it never got released? It was because they just didn't give a shit anymore. Same as this.

I believe they were trying to find ways to find ways of increasing their profit while cutting corners during that time, why release the third(?) wave of a subline that flopped violently. Would explain AOE and the end of Thrilling 30 too.
>>
>>5792948
Well the upscaled cyberverse guys got released in HK and Europe but for whatever reason never saw a release here in the US. I kinda wanted them, too, cyberverse was a lot of fun so upscaling those guys as bigger deluxes than a standard deluxe for the same price as alright by me.

Oh, these dudes. Well, I have them. And I love them.

Cosmos manages so much with what he has, and every single transformation joint (barring one) is also robot mode articulation. His little buddy Payload (aka Micromaster Blast Master) isn't bad either, with a nifty shuttle drone mode to fly alongside Cosmos, and a gun mode that looks pretty good as a Legends rifle, or a Combiner pistol.

Just be aware that Cosmos's left shoulder may be a little loose in the hinge. Thankfully, he compensates by also having a ball joint there, and you can fix it up with Pledge anyway. Have fun!
>>
>>5792977
God, I can't speak highly enough of these guys. Cosmos is fucking perfection, and what payload lacks in articulation he makes up for in fun colors. Non-white/black/metal robot faces always add a lot of fun to a design.

I know, right? Payload just has enough there to keep him visually interesting, but that detail is also helpfully obscured so his gun mode doesn't obviously look like a robot right away.
>>
>>5792977
>>5792979
I'm glad they're a worthwhile combo! I was on the fence about getting them, but you guys generally spoke highly of them, and I managed to secure a deal for five maplebucks so it's safe either way.

Are any of the other two-pack Legends, or generations Rattrap worth picking up?
>>
>>5792991
Legends megatron is a good mold, but the Hasbro colors are odd.

Other than that the skrapnel and swerve figures are okay. Cosmos is the best legends from that line.

Rattrap needs help. I got him on clearance and he's my favorite BW show character and he's not fun and you have to fix some issues before he breaks.
>>
>>5792991
I really like the Swerve/Gears mold, it's simple stupid fun. Not quite as good as Cosmos but good nonetheless. Gen Rattrap is good but I don't particularly have fun transforming him, and then his rat mode is, well, a rat. I'd recommend it mostly if you're a huge BW fan or a fan of Rattrap in the comics.
>>
>>5792996
Remind me what breaks on him.
>>
>>5792996
>>5792997
I'll try and find a Swerve for cheap! Maybe Rattrap too if I can find him for less than $15. Would 5-10 and 10-12 be reasonable price ranges for Swerve and Rattrap?
>>
>>5792996
What do you need to do to fix him?

I'd say those are good prices. I got my Swerve for around 10 CAD (50% off the original price here), and I think he's more than worth it.
>>
>>5793001
Sounds reasonable enough. You might be able to get Rattrap cheaper. How much are Legends figures where you are right now? I'd be willing to pay a buck or two over what current MSRP on legends is for Swerve, Gears you probably won't find so cheap.

Cosmos is a pretty damn awesome figure. Easily one of the best Legends figures around.
>>
>>5793000
>>5793002
There's some excess plastic where the shins move for transformation that will cause a break if you transform a few times. I modded elbows on mine but just because the range of default movement sucks.

>>5793001
Eh maybe. Where the figure stands out is the transformation. Its pretty complicated for a deluxe and the modes are so fucking different that he doesn't necessarily feel like a shellformer. But elbow articulation is minimal, no wrist or waist articulation, soft plastic shoulder jounts, rat ears block botface, and the excess leg plastic. Looks fine with rhinox and waspinator from the T30 line.
>>
>>5793005
>>5793007
Maybe I'll be less stingy if I happen to see a Swerve.. I haven't bought anything from retail in ages so idk how prices are now, but I bet they're overpriced. Is Rattrap lackluster enough to go for cheaper than a legends figure though?

>>5793008
I'm looking forward to receiving him!

>>5793011
I saw some side-view pictures where the back of his torso was just a jointed, folded backpack. If his articulation is as poor as you say, maybe that's grounds for haggling.
