Messing around with body kun got me recreating poses of other characters and that sounded like a cool idea for an OC thread. If you've got body kun or chan recreate a pose from a character and let's see if people can figure it out.

I'll start with an easy one.

I have a female one. It is not good, falls apart constantly and the mold is not 1:1 with the original so articulation is fucked up in some ways. The ko I bought was like $20, the new official Figma bodies are coming out in October and they're only ~$25, I'd say just wait for that.

Just out of curiosity, I tried to capture that pose. I used Cattleya because she's probably going to be the hardest to do it with because of her big body size (huge thighs/ass/hips/tits). I probably did a shit job, but I did learn something. Most of the post is about moving the midsection/chest area of most figures, and not so much the legs. You don't actually need much knee bend, it's all about having an upper chest and lower abdomen bend.

>>

That's pretty awesome. This thread is making me regret not getting Body-kun, the new blank body figma look bad compared to it.
>>
>>5785403
Hadouken
>>
>>5787179
They look good enough judging by the images in this thread. The figmas are too muscular in my opinion, although cheaper.
>>
To any owners: are Body-kun/Body-chan actually worth it? I have plenty of super articulated toys already, so what I'm looking for is obscene range of motion. Since they're such simple figures with no hampering clothing or armor or features, I expect A++ engineering and a fantastic degree of poseability. Am I gonna get that? Or do I basically have what I'm looking for already with figures like SHF Bruce Lee or the Renewal Riders?

tl;dr: aside from the novelty of owning a "blank" figure, does this actually offer any advantage over our usual super poseable toys?
>>
>>5787588
Oh also, another question: do they have the new barbell-style double balljoints in the neck? I gotta ask, cause I REALLY hate the old style SHF necks, with the wrist joint in there that you need to turn around.
>>
>>5787588
If use them for their intended purposes (drawing mannequins) yes. Other than that no not really.
>>
although i do enjoy my body kuns, it bothers me that he has shoes on. does anyone own a body chan? if so then is it worth the buy? i have the figma archetype she and i dont like it much.
>>
>>5787588

Like I said in a previous post, the old archetype figmas fare way better. The Bodys have fairly standard range, and fare poorly for everything along the torso and hips. They can barely curve their bodies forwards or backwards.

Figma on the other hand may have weird bewbs and wonky musculature, but their wider body range and soft hip material allows them to do Spider-man levels of posing. Their knees can pull in all the way to their chest.

I've been using the archetypes as sketch refs for years. Was hoping to replace them with the Bodys but was thoroughly disappointed. I've thrown my 2 open Bodys into the parts bin (can't even headswap them easily for lewds) and I plan to list the extras I bought on ebay next week.

The thing with archetypes, though they have more articulation they have hideous bodies (in my opinion), especially the male ones (the females look fine). Also Body-kun (the gray ver.) comes with many hands and accessories while the archetypes have very limited hand variations.

Those clothes came off a ThreeA Action Portable Yellow Hornet (1/12). The yellow hornet body is in itself great at posing, about as good as a Body-kun. Even better in some areas like the ankles, range-wise. Unfortunately, the ankle joints like to pop out really easily because the socket is too shallow.
