So being a hamhanded retard, I broke the peg on one of my clover's knee joints. I recall the joints are actually a basic hobby joint I could buy, anyone know which one would fit specifically?
>>
>>5783974
You are looking for Hobby Base Ball Shape Joints G grey Part number PPC-Tn11.
Something of note, at least the joints that I have a slightly different finish then my shamrocks original joints, they are slightly more matte. But it is nothing to noticeable and I think with time they would even out.
Also each joint in the figure has a custom peg length and a sightly smaller chamfer around the peg but that is nothing you cant fix with a few minutes with a hobby knife.
>>
>>5784033
This is the most informative and complete post answering another anon's question I think I've ever seen. Well done.
>>
>>5783111
>No bulge

No buy.

Really, really sad here. A manly robot with a huge bulge would have been the perfect companion for the trapbot.

(The trapbot tops. Every time.)
>>
So as I said in the last thread I'm planning on making a custom gray Shamrock, but I'm unsure what I should make.

I think Tomo (The guy that made the bunnyboy shamrock) is going to make a Nurse, so that's out.

I'm thinking Cowboy trap, Fluffy sheep robot trap, or possibly incubus devil trap.

What should I go with?
>>
Are there any lolis in this series?
I want a cute robogirl but I don't care for the baloon tits.
>>
>>5784038
Thanks, I happened to have a package of them laying on my desk at the right time.

>>5784391
Are you envisioning a cowboy cowboy with boots, spurs and a lasso or a trap cowgirl with cow print lingerie and bovine horns? If it is the cowgirl I would be partial to that or the incubus/succubus trap.

Include this shit in the OP from now on, since there seems to be so many QC problems with these fucking things and joint breaks seem common.

Also do Revoltech joints fit these guys?
>>
>>5784451
I meant cowboy cowboy, hat, spurs, vest w/ tassels, boots, and chaps, definitely chaps.
>>
>>5784500
I'll add it in the the next thread. Its the most detailed explanation so I was already thinking about it. And yes, revojoints fit the polynians.

>>5784397

How... organic... are these robutts? I mean, a regular robot can just be build to be whatever age you want to made it look, why would be relevant to notice if they are 10 or 20 years old?

In fact, why would you build a child looking robot?

Other than milking the pedo cow, which wouldn't surprise me coming from /d/aibadi.
>>
>>5784779
>why would you build a child looking robot?
You know exactly why
>>
>>5784779
Well, the clothed Polys came after human and robutt cross-breeding so maybe one of the traits that carried over was the act of growing/aging? The Polys could start off small and maybe the body reaches a point where it doesn't age/grow but we (humans) continue to count the number of years.

As for the motoroids they're seperate beings from the Polynians. While the Polynians came from space, the motoroids were made on earth my the humans and polynians as an artificial robot life form.

Also loli's are real polular so of course they'd make some.

So what's the difference between the regular POlynians and Clover/Shamrock? Why are they naked?
>>
>>5786169
>So what's the difference between the regular POlynians and Clover/Shamrock? Why are they naked?

They were among the first "generation" of Polynians that arrived centuries ago.

The clothed ones are from more modern times and have integrated into human society/culture.
>>
>>5786169
Yeah,>>5786175 is right. Clover and Shamrock were from the first generation of Polys to arrive on Earth. The clothed Polynians; Yume, Mel, Emile, Belmont, were the generation of Polynians that came after the Poly-Human cross-breeding years after the war and such. Motoroids are a different thing altogether.

>>
>>5786303

They need to just rerun them. The aftermarket price is fucking retarded.
>>
>>5786315
You think they will? I mean with the gray flesh it feels like they're going the bandai "Same but different colors" approach.
>>
>>5786323
IIRC Daibadi mentioned it would consider reprinting the originals if there were enough demand.
>>
>>5786323

I don't know if they will. Nothing they do makes sense.

Instead of rerunning the originals, they spit out shit grey versions no one wanted.

Instead of fixing their QC problems and replacing shit, they put out that stupid tape image.

Instead of admitting they did sloppy paint work, they just removed paint altogether.

Pretty sure they'll rerun then eventually. Seeing as how they were rereleased once already, they might do the same with the greys and after Belmont and/or Pinkle, they'll think of re-issueing them again.

>>5786297
Unfortunately I dont know anon. The look like peices from mecha model kits to me but I couldn't tell you for certain or give specifics.
>>
>>5786333
Don't really want to start another arguement in the thread but Daibadi does plan to release grey versions of other Polynians in the future so having plain grey bodies for part swapping makes some sense. As for QC problems on Yume, I recall them saying that they had trouble with the factory they were using and changed midway into production I believe. The paint work though is a whole other can of worms.

>>
>>5786426

Lots of figures get re-released, and the price drops temporarily, and then jumps back up.

It took figures like Figma Samus and Link almost 4 or 5 re-releases before the price stabilized at retail.

Fact is, they re-released Clover. And their prices never even really went up all that high until they had been out a while.

It isn't really their fault when you came into the line late and you missed the boat. Twice.

Not the anon looking for a recast, though I'm kinda interested too.

You might try the Gunpla or Custom thread and ask if anyone does resin recasting. I think Richigo has done some in the gunpla thread and I know there was another anon who recast some guns, or maybe it's the same guy.

Recasting tends to be expensive when outsourced since it needs some decent equipment, but I think most people will give better prices with scale, so a group buy of about 10 or so would probably be ideal. I know some resin GK shops would do special order recasts of old stuff if they had 10 or 15 orders, but they did it themselves.
>>
>>5786554
dont do it anon, recasting usually destroys the thing you're recasting. not worth the risk bro.
>>
>>5786934

>>
>>5786807
Shit, really? I wouldn't mind commissioning someone for recasts at all. That'd make more people happy in general! Do point me in the direction of some of those shops with recasting options, I'm completely clueless to it.

I'll ask the customs thread and Gunpla generals when I have the kit in hand. I'll have to write that dude I contacted about this.

>>
>>5787248

It'd be a recast of some ridiculously unknown by normal people garage kit from Japan. For all they know it's a custom.
>>
>>5787248
I'll check it out. I'll also just cross my fingers I get that invoice soon, I'd really like to pay quickly since some dudes have trouble with Mandy like that and I like being prudent.

Actually forget Hobbyfanatic. Looks like the site is basically dead.
>>
>>5787276
Oh, well never mind that then.
>>
>>5787274
Well even if you do find a professional place it'll likely be much more expensive than some guy on /toy/. The best way to find a good recasting service is probably to be in with a community that has members that do it like those people who make those expensive dolls caked in make up or people who build resin kits of waifus.

Hobbyfanatic had a few guys who did recasts because they had a decent GK scene, Gundam and other, but at a glance it looks like the place is basically dead.

Ask /tg/ and /diy/. /diy/ has a pretty wide variety of skills and tabletop game players are known to make bootlegs because figurine for games like WH40k are obscene. I've only seen a handful of guys on 4chan's gunpla general that actually work with any resin much less enough to recast stuff.

I just want Sumilodon, Peppercat and Arcbeetle. Maybe even Cyandog or Brass. Meta and Rokusho are both overdone and to me, boring designs. There are so many other great designs in the franchise but they only ever focus on the posterboys. I know this sort of problem isn't unique to medabots but still.

Yeah, >>5789379 is right. Revoltech joints fit in with Polynians so you could use parts from revoltech figures to part-swap. The Yume thats up on HLJ looks like its the re-issue set for November. Its the only reason I could think of since its still up while Shamrock is gone. Seeing as how every other retailer has given her two listings (original and renewal) and has Yume listed as "Out Of Stock" and HLJ still only has the one listing and its been in "Backorder". Plus HLJ is a bit slower with updating their site and they're doing inventory now which slows down confirmations and such.

>>5790031 is probably right, go try your luck in the BST maybe you get lucky and are able to nab one there. Other than that you'd have to wait for Yume's fixed version in November.

Just checked, Amiami currently only has the renewal version of Yume up for order.

Clothes with sleeves look somewhat awkward on Polynians since they have the higher shoulder bits on them but if you dont mind that certain Picco Neemo clothes look good on 'em. There's new sets up for PO right now for later this month too. As for Clover the swimsuit seems to look great on her. Hey anon, have you found a recaster? I've worked a little bit with resin in the past but it was really just trying to make junk like beam sabers for gunpla.

If you're serious about and want to take a risk this contact me at [email protected]. I'm willing to get a pressure chamber set up and other necessary equipment to get as close as possible to perfect recasts, and practice before I recast anything of course. I don't think a vacuum chamber will be necessary with smooth on's mold making silicone but that's also a possibility. Anyway, if you're interested email me.
>>
>>5790799
I am serious, but I've also already been talking with another dude on recasts for now, so we'll see how that goes first.
>>
>>5790799Hello from /tg/, was gLiving the recast anon advice there.
Having worked with Smooth-On, a pressure chamber is completely unnecessary for the
Oomoo silicone, but you'd still likely need it for the resin. It's wholly possible to get a bubble-free result, but if you're going to be producing them, probably best to bite the bullet on that investment.
>>
>>5790859
Don't encourage spending just yet, nothing's yet been finalized.
>>
>>5790859
Yeah I think the pressure chamber is a required item. The vacuum chamber is up in the air. It might be useful for drying 3D printer filament but it looks like a proper set up is pretty expensive. A pressure chamber on the other hand would be like $300 to set up with a Grizzly paint tank (or other OEM) and one of those pancake-tank compressors from amazon.

>>5790864
I was considering getting back into resin stuff anyway. I guess it depends on how my custom 3D printer turns out. it's FDM but I'm hoping it will be able to print ultra fine details, if it doesn't I'll have to get stuff printed at shapeways, finish it, and then recast in casting resin.
>>
>>5790759

As of writing this poll's gotten 37 votes. I'm really surprised at how many people voted. I'm guessing it'd have gotten even more had it been posted on /tg/ or /m/, or the Gunpla general.

The real question, however, is how many of you voters have worked with resin before!

Anyways most people are either in the ~$30-49 or ~$50-69 camp. The kit retailed, and I got it for, about 10000 yen, or ~$100. I guess most peolpe think of it more like a Polynian that needs extra work?

The American team was terrible.
Sure, they worked as a team and cheated with tech that was too advanced to be ruled yet but having a country of a couple hundreds of millions appear with three of the same robot was off-putting.
>>
Got Shamrock today but the front flap cover thing is like severely warped and bent up. After looking at it more closely it seems like the clam-shell inside didn't get shut properly so it was pushing up on one corner and not letting the flap sit flush with the window. Combined with being tightly packed during shipping it caused a big ass warp.

Anyone else have this happen to them? Is it normal? Should I worry about it with Clover? I don't care about boxes that much but it is sort of annoying to get something not in perfect condition when the store in question has a "damaged box" discount on stuff but I didn't get any discount.
>>
>>5791760

Just a note from a fa/tg/uy, but for anyone who hasn't worked with resin before:

That shit is toxic as fuck to humans and I assume, most animals. Do not inhale the dust if you're sanding it, don't get any of it in your mouth, etc. Wear a mask so you breathe without inhaling the dust or fumes (if any, when it's a liquid). Wipe your area off after you're done working with it.
>>
>>5792026

>>
>>5792026
I'll let you know when I get mine at the end of the month with Mel.
>>
>>5790789
it's not all bad man, at least you have an idea of what people would pay and how many people are interested.
At least 50 people are interested and most wouldn't pay more than 60/ 70-ish dollars.
I can kind of understand though, recasts aren't perfect and generally are an inferior quality. Factor in needing to paint it
>>
>>5791762
So do you think the recast is going to happen? If it gets recast in colored resin I'd pay a little more, like $80 or 90.
>>
>>5792982
I'm determined to see to it that a recast happens.

Colored resin however I dunno about. Pricing in the end isn't as important as just making sure the kit gets out to the world!
>>

My Grey Clover has the right hand cut under the palm and the left hand has a twisted pinkie. I mailed HLJ and they can't send me replacement parts. The options are:
- sending back the figure for a replacement.
- sending it back for a refund (not interested).
- keeping it and getting a refund of 20% as store credit.

What should I choose?
>>
>>5793197
The cut on the hand I would be able to get over, as for the twisted pinkie, I don't know, depends how twisted I guess. If its just these minor things and you could work with them, I would say go for the 20% store credit and use that towards another figure you want or another Polynian like Yume or Emil. Unless of course you want a pristine Clover, in which case go for the replacement.
>>
>>5793197
Store credit

But that's because I'm picky about my figures, and I almost always get stuck with a worse looking one after exchanging.

I don't know of any recast services, just shops like e2046. I think hobbyfan is still active.

I'm pretty sure it was this, but like I said it was a while ago.

http://www.e2046.com/p/PMX-000+Messala/7594/

It's either boxed up somewhere or I tossed it during a move, but basically parts had a good of warping, nothing fit (from warping and, I'm sure, shrinkage), and surface detail was soft.

You'll have to ask the gunpla general for comparisons but I had some conversion kits from a small shop called cubeX (something like that). In comparison the cubex stuff fit well and looked mostly complete during test fits (some gaps here and there, but nothing huge) and was nicely detailed. I never got to finish them though so I either sold them or boxed them up.

In hindsight I regret selling some of it, I got my hands on some neat stuff like a VP Alex conversion and a Nu Evolve conversion for the HGUC Nu.

You can actually find Dimension Diver stuff on e2046 for cheap, but you get what you pay for as they say.

All right, looks like Daibadi's FB page was updated, sorry for being late.

Anyways looks like the Polynian designs on display will be for Reimu, who we already new was coming and the new Poly Lucio! And as the mentioned before, Vania's (Belmont) prototype will be shown off at the booth along with Pinkles. Can't wait to see how they look. Seeing as how these are two of the ones I look forward too, I hope they turn out great.

Yeah about 1/12ish. Yume is like 5 1/2 inches and so are the others I believe. They look good next to eachother in case thats what you wanted to know. You can swap heads too since its just a 3mm peg. And like the other anon said some of Revo's QB clothes fir on the Polys.

HOOOO BOY, that was a lot more intensive than i had hoped. i tried to do the line flooding but the panel lines are so shallow that when you go to wipe off excess, it would wipe whatever was in the groove away too, so I had to paint every line by hand. It doesn't show up very well in pics, but it looks great in person.

It was still pretty easy and this was my first time doing it, I'm certainly not very light handed either. If you made a mistake you can wipe it off easily and if it dries a bit and cant be wiped off you can use nail polish remover (Mine was acetone free but I dont know if that factors in or not)

The top of the hip panel line and down towards the butt crack were the HARDEST to paint.

Recast effort anon here.

So things have almost been finalized, but first, there's one big question: GK-M or e2046? Both offer to accept donations of models for recasting purposes, however an anon has mentioned that e2046's quality is shoddy.

IIRC a while back there were a few dudes who purchased GK-M recasts of the TTGL female robots Daibadi puts out. GK-M still puts out those models, but if anyone can remember the quality of those recasts please do tell, so that the Aphrodite A GK can also be sent to the best possible recasters.

go to any sationary store, they'll have fine point markers, they might even have them in the "buy only one pen" section (no idea what its actually called but its got all the single pens in little holders all down the aisle) so you don't even have to buy a whole pack for one colour. You want a Fibre Tip Pen, stabillo is a brand I know, there's also Staedtler. I dont think brand really matters.

Ones in my country are listed at $5 but i'm not american so you can probably get em cheaper.

also if I can paint the lines using a brush that's any where near as tiny as 0.5mm I wouldnt worry about the nib size too much.

It's a recast of a different Daibadi model. This model was in plain resin from the start and has more realistic proportions. The color resin one had colored resin from the get-go and a sculpt more similar to the Polynians in stature and proportion.

http://www.e2046.com/p/Aphrodai+A++Full+Action/7848/

There's no real way to gauge pricing from official recasters, unfortunately. e2046 seems to keep its DD stuff in the ~$30 range. The poll I took was more of a gauge of how many people want to buy it than what to price the recasts at, unfortunately.
>>
>>5797886

Yeah, maybe a poll would be a good idea.

An idea me and recaster anon had been throwing around was making a recast of the original GK, getting it up to quality with the original, and then shipping that to a recaster. Perhaps something like this could be done to proliferate more recasts between GK-M and e2046, though I dunno if thy'd like it.

I'll throw up a strawpoll tomorrow.

>>
>>5799511
dude, Japan to freaking Cali can take over a month with sal. You are going to be waiting a while.
>>
>>5790598
Fuck, that figure is fantastic, but i don't have any money right now. How long would it be before the recasts are ready? I just need a rough estimate, i can't really commit to buying one if i won't have any money.

Also, as someone who's new to buying and owning high quality figures, how much is reasonable for a recast like this? My shamrock was around $65 AUD, but for a limited run of hand cast sets I assume more than that is reasonable.
>>
>>5799566
Well, it's in New Jersey now. I'm reckoning either Wednesday or Thursday. I'm just kind of irritated that it sat in New York for like 13 days, but took only 6 to get out of Japan.

Mind you, this isn't the longest I've waited on SAL, but it's getting there.
>>
>>5799602
I don't know what to say, but at a mimimum I'd put it at a month and a half, though I would expect more.

Me, I ordered the GK via SAL, so there's that, but there's also the shipping -to- the recasters and then the time it'll take for the recaster to make new figs.

Furthermore, the Aphrodite A kit is resin- the original is made of colored resin, but the recasts will likely be both slightly cruder and will need paint, and if you haven't worked with resin then you'd best read up because that shit is a health hazard. Additionally, the model needs its joints to be bought separately, namely the Hobbybase sphere/globe joints.

Most of the Dimension Diver recasts I've seen have been ~$30-40 from e2046 and ~$50 from GK-Model. By the time this thing is out you should have enough for it, but in addition if you're not feeling up to the model work you may want to find someone to help out.
>>
>>5799623
Really the only daunting part is working with resin. I don't mind painting or buying joints for her. I'd actually like to paint her in different colours, the red and yellow is a bit glaring.

Has anyone bought the gurren lagann polynian recasts from gk-m? What did you think of them?
>>
>>5799657
Honestly, if it wasn't resin, I'd love to jump at it. My body is so fragile though that I don't think it'd be smart at all to even chance working with it.
