Monthly Building Challenge:
Your challenge this month is to design a Microfighter for a vehicle that doesn't have one yet. It can be of any property, as long as it has 100 or less pieces, seats 1 minifig, and is cute and chibi. Get swooshing!

== SDCC NEWS REVIEW ==

Lego has been revealing a bunch of 2017 sets lately. So far we have:

DC Superheroes
>Mighty Micros Batman vs Killer Moth
>Mighty Micros Wonder Woman vs Doomsday
>Mighty Micros Superman vs Bizarro

Marvel Superheroes
>Mighty Micros Spider-Man vs Scorpion
>Mighty Micros Iron Man vs Thanos
>Mighty Micros Wolverine vs Magneto
>Hulk vs Red Hulk

>>5780817
>No Disney Castle reveal
Fuck.
>>
>>5780829
Is that a rumored big set? I haven't heard about that before.
>>
>>5780817
>hulk and another hulk but he's red
> and also woman hulk and her red counterpart
>they're also in cars, kinda
I don't think I'll ever understand comics.
>>
>>5780832
D2C set of it was confirmed a while back, but there's nothing else known yet.
>>
>>5780817
Only one I truly want of those is Thanos Mighty Micro, and even then half of that set sucks.

Maybe red She-Hulk and Wolverine because I kinda liked X-men way back when, but most likely not.
>>
>>5780817
>micros set has a large variety of really cool minifigs
>they all have short legs

I mean, I understand why but goddamn.
>>
>>5780848
>really cool minifigs
Well, if you can get past the faces, they're all pretty nifty in their own right.

And it's not like normal long legs are expensive on BL.
>>
Anyone have a list of how expensive it would be to collect all of the current Iron man minifigs? Including Tony Stark iterations.
>>
>>5780854
Probably about 1000 Hulks.

I want it.
>>
>>5780868
Those bird tits are nice, but not nearly fat enough.
>>
>>5780865
Red Hulk is a Marvel creation.
>>
>13 trans-purple studs on one Bonkle-set, there's only a handful total on BL
>4 of those on the Spiderman Bridge and suddenly there's a fucking explosion of them on BL

It's amazing how little people want to get Bonkle, even when it has unique and highly sought after stuff.
>>
>tfw finally found my old bin of Lego in the garage that I thought was lost years ago
>it's all in a giant bin with my 9 and 11 year younger brother's Lego on it as well
>it's frosted on the sides so I can't see very well what's in it

This is suffering. I know for a fact that there's some HP stuff, as well as some Adventures and other such themes, but I can't dig into it, and I honestly don't have any patience to sort it all out.
>>
>>5780873

I've got some, and I use it, and it just doesn't really feel like Lego. Not enough standard System connections.

Not bad actually.
Is that a new hair piece for tinkerbell?
>>
>>5780885
It's not about the CCBS system itself.

But when there's a set that has a recolor everyone and their mother has been asking for, and NO ONE buys it for that really says something about the theme.
>>

I could see Disney S2 that has Hades and Hercules.

Because let's be real, Disney S2 is coming. First series sold like hotcakes, and we all know how much Lego and Disney love money.
>>
>>5783200
Yeah but Disney hates other companies more than they love money, I'm amused that they let lego do this stuff without buying them
>>
>>5783152
Nope. But Hades is popular enough to be a recurring villain in KH and Disney World's own AR game.
>>
I'm sure they already had Series 2 planned when they released the first one. They do exclusive prints, but never exclusive molds in D2C sets. Tinkerbell (with a different print perhaps) is a shoe-in for Series 2.

>>5783206
The main thing that's probably keeping Disney from buying TLG is the fact that Lego relies so heavily on Disney's rival for its digital properties. TT Games, Ninjago/Chima/Nexo TV shows, the theatrical films.. all under companies that Disney presumably hates already.

Hell, they even had one licensed set when Lego was still doing wooden toys.

>>5783921
Stickers are all in a transparent envelope.
Instructions are sorted by size and sit in a cupboard. The biggest are in an extra plastic box so they are easier to get out of the cabinet and browse through.
I don´t really use instructions after building a set for the first time so I don´t know if it could be more efficient and I most definitely always forget that I even have a sticker collection.

Most people get folders for their instructions and make punchholes into the books but that doesn´t sit right with me. Maybe if all instructions were the same size but the differences make it hard to order them in a way that makes sense and easy to find.

Polycarbonate doesn't have the friction that ABS or rubber can provide. The mohawk hairpiece sticks to a stud because it's rubber, but if that flame piece was separate, it wouldn't have enough friction to stay on.

Which really sucks because that's the only reason I was looking forward to GR.

The build it pretty clever. The seating is on jumpers so that the girls can all fit inside. The entire thing is like a rock until you add the interments on the roof. Even those stay put pretty well. I think the whole thing could use a tab more ground clearance. Also Ecto-2 is growing on me.

I'm assuming we won't get a whole Hospital line, but with all the new medical-related pieces out these days

>two styles of syringes

what does everyone think about the chance of getting a hospital set? I could see one with an ER, a maternity ward (with two exclusive crying- and sleeping-head babyfigs), a couple of recovery beds, and an ambulance. Possibly also a helicopter/rooftop helipad like Lego hospitals of yore, depending on how many pieces it has in it.

Nah man. Just, nah.
>>

I've got both Shaak Ti and Aayla from the CW sets. I kinda justify their stupid eyes by them being considered "beautiful" aliens but I really want non-CW versions of them.

I agree with you tough, they're probably coming soon in the most expensive sets of the waves
>>
>>5785465
What makes Aayla as a whole so expensive? I just bought her head for 1€ and when I checked a while back the torsos weren't too costly either.
>>
>>5785545
Look up her headpiece. Fucking thing is almost worth as much as the figure, just because its a blue lekku helmet.

Arealight for life. As someone on a random internet forum said "Arealight figures are real Twi'leks. The lego minifigures are Trans-Twi'leks."
>>
>>5785553
To add to that.
Look up the individual printed round 1x1 brick that the GOOD IG-88 uses. Cheapest right now is I THINK like $16. For a DBley 1x1 round brick with a couple red circles printed on it.

For some of these figures its one single piece that will make them "worth" so much.

Cant wait until either 3D printing or some really cheap version of injection molding becomes widespread.

>>5785497
>>5785500
>>5785507
If Lego really wanted to they could release a new, "realistic" Aayla (and pretty much any/every other Jedi) in cheap sets by putting them in battle packs, themed around each of the different Clone Armies/Divisions/Battalions/Companies/Platoons/Squads.
Like Aayla could be in a pack with some little build, two 327th Star Corps Clone Troopers and Commander Bly.
And like I said, you could do that with other Jedi as well.
>>
>>5785572
LEGO can do anything they want, like you suggest, but they have demonstrated a lack of desire in giving people what they want in battlepacks lately(like four or even three identical versions of a popular trooper type) so I'm not holding my breath for them to do new versions of fan favorite characters in them.

Yeah, that is what I mean. The Cinderella Castle in Florida is based on Cinderella's castle, but the Lego set is based on the fake castle in Florida. The reason why it doesn't have minifigs relating to the Cinderella cartoon is because it's based on the fake castle in Florida, which was not in the cartoon. The minifigs it comes with relate to the fake castle in Florida.

>willing to overpay for a different color on a piece
>while also willing to paint a hundred other pieces
Here's what you do. Buy a cheaper version of that hair you want, and paint it dark brown.

Then get the instructions for the X-Wing, and search this website for the red versions of all the orange pieces:

Hey guy's, I am working on getting into lego with the sage advice of a friend that has long been in the hobby. All is good, but bricklink makes me want to shove lego pieces in my urethra

Do you mean to say that you're finding BL's interface a pain, or is the Lego hobby making you feel kinky as fuck?

The interface is awful, especially considering I have no idea of piece names beyond things like bricks and connectors and studs.
>>
>>5787426
What is it that you're looking for on the site? You get used to it all eventually, but if you're gonna use it you need a target item.
>>
>>5787426
The only thing honestly bugging me with BL at the moment is the shipping...it's expected with a marketplace, but the quickbuy estimate before shipping I got is about $30 w/o the shipping...seeing how a lot of them are coming from eastern Europe (Estonia, Germany, Hungary, etc) and have to ship all the way to the US, I'm not expecting this to be cheap.

The thing that brought me back was this https://www.dropbox.com/s/6323ovwz6skn6sw/LEGO_FTL_KESTREL_NORMANDY_PROMO_FREE.pdf?dl=0 and I don't have any lego anymore.

If you wanted to build the ships in those instructions, we could help you find the parts on Bricklink.

However, if you simply wanted to start rebuilding your parts collection, ordering individual pieces isn't the way. There are a lot of prepackaged sets available that will give you a good head start. For example, any set from the Creator theme will give you a good feel for the kinds of things you can do with Lego's parts; it doesn't matter if you get the 160 USD modular buildings, or the 5 USD mini vehicles.

Before I buy anything, I am playing around with LDD

That's what I've been doing.
>>
>>5787473
Okay, that's a fine idea. If you're planning on ever making physical versions of your LDD builds though, be sure you're playing on the standard build mode. Lego hasn't gotten around to producing all pieces in all colors yet.

70748 Titanium Dragon from early last year has a unique brickbuilt head, and decent articulation.

70734 Master Wu Dragon is a fun Chinese Dragon. The head looks a little funny, but it's a solid set overall. It shares Titanium Dragon's articulation scheme.

And 70593 Green NRG Dragon is arguably the best dragon Lego's ever come out with, with a fantastic brickbuilt head, lovely detailing, and folding fabric wings (a first in Lego!). Wyverns may or may not be up your ally, but this build is really good.
