Mezco's obsession with cloth doesn't work well with movie aesthetics, no muscle definition is discernible, looks like a fucking doll, and they're overpriced. Mafex also has wired capes which work 1000% better than the ghetto rigged setup Mezco came up with for their DKR Batman.

This one is my favorite I own at the moment. Looks really decent for a 20 dollar figure. The face looks just like Ben. I also have the Batman 6" and the Armored Batman 6" and the Big Fig Armored. The just regular Batman Big Fig is my favorite of the bunch.

I don't own it, but I've heavily considered it and researched it. From the reviews I've seen, the articulation is pretty good (albeit not well integrated/hidden), but the hard plastic cape is awful, the faces look lifeless, and the size is quite small. Paint on the body looks quite good and the proportions are very Superman-ish.

I got the NECA Reeves Superman and have had absolutely no problems with it. No breaks, No stiff or loose joints AND it halfway across the world (JPN to UK).

I think the joints issue was resolved on re-release? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Is this the best comic-styled Black Manta figure out there?

I know there's the DCC New 52 one but the articulation on that figure still has the standard crappy DCD articulation of old. The Total Heroes set looks neat and I do plan to get it, but again, that one has a more animated look inspired from Young Justice, whereas I'd actually like a regular comic Manta.

Also, aside from promotional materials, was Black Manta actually known to regularly use a trident in the comics? Because it's as if the majority of his important storylines he only ever uses his daggers, spear/prong-blade gun, harpoons and of course, his helmet's laser beams.

I'd advise against it and tell you to wait for another one to come around. Mainly because at that point in time DCC still had major fragility issues in the line with shitty brittle plastics + stuck paint issues. Now they are a lot better than they were both in articulation and durability.

If you decide to get it then I suggest you be extremely careful to avoid breaking it and realize that the two figures in that pack have some really shitty articulation.

I can confirm that the paint apps are inconsistent as hell and the plastic is brittle and weak around the forearms and ankles. The thickness in the joints is also inconsistent from figure to figure, so one will be too loose while others will be so tight that trying to move them will break them.

I had to get two because the right forearm on power girl snapped in a way that was basically impossible to repair. The figures look really different from paint apps alone.

They're using a printing tech like you see on Figuarts, which is pretty ugly, BUT there are solid paint apps underneath that (unlike figuarts), which are either tampos or/and masking jobs.

The print apps are only being used as highlights and shadowing, so it doesn't look bad on most of the figures. That Superman looks as bad as he does because they overused the dots, so he is an outlier.

If you look closely at the Harley Quin, you can see it.
It's pretty weird, almost like someone is using a dithering effect over an actual photograph.
