Having to dismantle that torso balljoint just to swap a skirt would be a nightmare scenario for all the hamhands here. I've taken the 18 figure completely apart before, and from firsthand experience I can say that they really did the best they could with the design because it needs to be anchored securely. The side split cut on the skirt was a good compromise without risking a lot of belly aching from people with broken figures.

I got two SS Trunks', Beerus, vegeta, and the new ss3 Goku figuarts zero, and my fuck I fell in love with Beerus. I'm pretty disappointed with vegeta, but I needed to get him. That ss3 vegeta is something I'm really looking forward to though!

Yeah it fluctuates a lot with Freiza for some reason. I've always gone by that shot where him and Goku are back to back for my head canon but even that makes the figure just a tad shorter and it was before 100%.

Personally, I'm just glad to have future Trunks back. He's one of the few genuinely cool DBZ characters who hasn't been turned into a weak bitch, unlike Tien, Piccolo, and Gohan...

As someone who's just getting into the figuarts scene, what are the best DBZ must haves and are they still available?

I'm especially interested in the best version of Goku, Vegeta, Freeza, and Cell. When searching it appears the only ones available still are the SSJ versions and gold Frieza.

Would have really liked to have gotten the original DBZ version of Vegeta, but $200 is too much for me.

I talked with the PR guy for Bandai at Anime Expo. He told me that he actually has some sway with what gets made and that if he sees a big enough demand for a figure, he can pass that along to Bandai Japan.

I told him that I really want to see more Launch, and while I didn't expect to see a Figuarts, something like a WCF would be fun. He told me he really wants to see more people ask for their favorite characters on facebook to get a better picture of what fans want and "be their voice" in Bandai so to speak.

If enough people ask for Bulma or Videl they'll get made. Everyone I know that collects DB Figuarts wants at least some form of Bulma. So I imagine if they're vocal enough she'll get made.

I think people are complaining because he's so chunky, his proportions kind of make him look like a little kid's toy. Also those ankle joints are HUGE.

The color scheme is a lot less subtle than the Figuarts, but at least you can fix that yourself on a model kit.

They like it because it is a chance to get a figure they missed at a non-rape price.

Pretty much everyone knows Cell is a pretty mediocre figure (at best.) But the only way to get him now is to pay upwards of $200 for said mediocre figure. This is just a way to make the sting not hurt quite as bad.

No one was applauding that shitty PC Trunks because they thought it was an amazing figure. It was just a way for them to get a $150 figure for $40.

You can count on one hand the number of truly good figures in this line. For a lot of these figures, its this, or nothing at all.

That's exactly why I only own a single Dragon Ball S.H. Figuarts (Awakening Goku) despite Dragon Ball being the most memorable cartoon of my childhood and the one who really introduced me to the manga/anime world 26 years ago together with Dr. Slump. I've been interested in this line from the very beginning, always aware of new releases and looking at reviews, but didn't bother to purchase a single figure until recently.

I really like Cell (first form specially), but the Figuarts just looks wrong. I value each figure for what they are, it doesn't matter to me if it's the only version of the character available right now. I would rather not own any figure of that character than owning a subpar one.

I just hope the line continues to improve over time, some of the recent releases look pretty great and I'm really interested in the new Vegeta and Gohan.

Awakening Goku is probably among the best. Broly is pretty high up, and surprisingly good, Beerus is decent. The new Trunks is pretty decent, and the new Vegeta is pretty much identical.

Part of the reason why like, half of the line is bad to begin with is because of that original Goku body. It was never really a great body to begin with and the fact that they continually release this sub-par body doesn't sit well with anyone.

Yes. It isn't keyed properly for Goku's hair so it sticks out a bit, but Goku's bangs cover up the gaps from the front and it's really only noticeable behind the ears if you look for it.

Awakening Goku and SS Trunks (armored ver) are great since they have the new 2.0 body. Broly is also an amazing hunk of plastic and a lot more poseable than it looks.16 is also pretty great. His sculpt makes him look better than he ever did in the show and his articulation is just as good as Broly or the 2.0 sculpts.
