Not to mention some stock will even be available at Fan Expo in Canada. SDCC probably can't shut down Hasbro or Mattel like they can to NECA.
>>
Hey, no one mentioned that Taskmaster had ankle rotation on top of his ankle pivot. Very nice addition. Works the aesthetic (removes the generally ugly boot cut (for characters with no boots or something to hide it well) and solves a would be flaw of the leg design. Very impressed with this figure overall and the effort put into it including a very nice grip on his sword, which is something I think is great. One of the oversights would be the 'Z's on his chest holster from Zemo. Otherwise good reuse mix with new parts. Wish they'd put in this effort more often (barring new molds like Wolvie, Deadpool seems like the next kind of figure i'm talking about).
>>
>>5751571
He just has really nice ankles in general. They also have great forwards tilt, which is something I feel is mandatory if your line doesn't have toe hinges.
>>
>>5751571
They'll probably do this with other figures that have greaves in the future--as long as they're not doing a mold re-use, that is. Right now, only two figures they've used this type of ankle on are Taskmaster and Ahsoka Tano.
>>

The SDCC thing is bullshit, people keep repeating on /toy/ that SDCC is blocking people from selling exclusives outside of the con and there's absolutely nothing to base that assumption on. Idk if it's one person just posting it a lot or if it just sort of spread as a rumor.

The only company that has said they wanted to sell exclusives outside the con but can't is NECA, and that's because of licensing issues surrounding TMNT. They've specifically said so.

There's plenty of exclusives being sold outside of the con. I've already preordered one of Mezco's exclusive figures.

Most exclusives only exist because of SDCC, even if the figure was prduced before hand.
Being an exclusive is mostly there to make their money back on tooling and the sculpt, and then some for profits.
In many cases, these figures wouldn't make it to mass market because they're incredibly niche. So even if there are 20-30k people willing to put their money up but only 15k available for SDCC, they can't release it to TRU/WalMart/Target/etc because mass market usually requires 50-100k minumum orders

Selling outside of the con can actually screw them over. They might overestimate how many people want their stuff and knowing they're going to sell it outside of the con means people won't bother getting it inside te con where people have money burning holes in their pockets.
Also, not being a true SDCC exclusive puts buyers off too.
>>

>>
>>5752318
>Also, not being a true SDCC exclusive puts buyers off too.

You're nuts.

Have you ever seen the crazy lines at SDCC for the exclusives? I've gone to 10 over the last 20 years and not making them exclusive to just the convention hasn't turned anybody off. The exclusives still sell like wildfire even if they are available to non-attendees. The lines at the booths are just as long, if not worse, now than when the companies didn't sell the exclusives online.

Every year Hasbro still has a line that wraps around the con that if full from the beginning of the day until the con closes. Making a small amount of the exclusives available for non-attendees isn't hurting sales one bit. Hasbro is actually making "plus" sales but putting stuff on HTS.

>>5752318
>people won't bother getting it inside te con where people have money burning holes in their pockets.

Spoken like a true person who has never been to SDCC. If you are at SDCC you hardly have "money burning holes in their pockets." That place is so expensive. Anyways, what's the difference if someone buys the set at the convention or buys it online later? The company still makes their money. You can physically only sell so many units during the con hours but if you sell it online you can sell it whenever and aren't limited to the restraints that the con puts on you.
>>
>>5752198
>The only company that has said they wanted to sell exclusives outside the con but can't is NECA, and that's because of licensing issues surrounding TMNT. They've specifically said so.

or he just doesn't care anymore.

>The exclusives still sell like wildfire even if they are available to non-attendees.
Except for TRU and B&N stuff? Hot Topic(orwhoeverthatwas)? EE too. Pretty much every retailer that gets the "exclusive" gets stuck with them and clearanced off.

>Spoken like a true person who has never been to SDCC. If you are at SDCC you hardly have "money burning holes in their pockets."
LOLOLOLOL
Have you been to any of the after parties or anywhere social at the end of the day? People buy shit just because it's there, ESPECIALLY exclusives. People are buying a whole mess of stuff there and many of these people aren't waiting at 3am to preorder something from amiami, muchless stalk those 2nd hand sites to find good deals. They just see something and they splurge.
If one isn't exclusive or can be bought at a later date they WILL buy another exclusive instead. That's something i was just talking to my brother about a couple of hours ago, because if he doesn't get X, he'll get Y instead or just buy something to resell.
Even fucking soccermoms know that something that's actually exclusive to the convention itself is going to go for more money than one that isn't and random booths at the convention will have signs saying what they're looking for if they do not. Oh, and EVERY VENDOR at the convention and every family member they bring with them knows this too.

>The company still makes their money.
It depends on the company, retailer, and customers.

- Secret War Cap is definite; liked that uniform when I first saw one. I just hope the shield is detectable from the throw effect.

- MCU Wanda is a major maybe. Didn't really care for her in AoU. Perhaps if I found her loose & cheap... same for Wonder Man.

- Captain Britain is a definite get. It uses his New Excalibur costume, so I'm definitely keeping my old Toybiz one.

>>
>>5754474
It does seem larger, but it's just an illusion. It is Hyperion.

Also, this trend of making the same baf as the sdcc wave... I'm not sure how to feel about that. Even if we want the sdcc set for other figures, and assuming we want the full wave, we get virtually the same figure twice, not even a costume difference or anything. And if sandman is the baf of a Spidey wave then we're doubling down just to get the rest of the figures. Not sure I like that. For example dormammu feels like a huge waste to me, to literally just sell the same thing again. It's good for those who didn't get the exclusive, but why would we want to same figure again? There should at least be some significant difference.

Just got Namor out of the box and he's pretty awesome. One of the higher tier MLs in the last year, without a doubt. Sculpting is on point, and makes good use of the Bucky Cap limbs while receiving a completely new (someone correct me if i'm wrong) body mold to fit Namor's somewhat slimmer physique while managing to remain as swole as he is in modern comics. Head-sculpt is the highlight of the figure for me, gone are the days of the the Toybiz neanderthal. The metallic paint on the scales and the accessories are icing on the cake. I would go as far as to say that he looks as good in person as he did in promo shots.

With his release, I finally completed the Fraction Defenders, but it leaves me wanting a classic underwear-toting Sub-Mariner. Also makes me realize that we need a new Silver Surfer. Hopefully as the MCU continues to expand into more cosmic territory, we'll see him in a future wave.

Aaaaaaaaand this is where your opinion will be forever discarded. The new one is generic as fuck and could pass off as the brother of every other generic same-face Hasbro has done in recent years (Cap, Hyperion, Sentry, Kraven, Strange, Drax, ...) whereas the old one is basically the highlight of the entire Legends line with some of the best face paint work you could imagine and an accuracy that matches up with literally 7 decades of Namor's appearances.

You're an absolute dumbfuck if you think the old one isn't better.

Norton turned down the project when he was first approached but Marvel insisted that he meet with director Louis Leterrier, and Norton relented. At the meeting Norton offered his version of The Hulk story, and Marvel agreed to hire a screenwriter to work with him on a rewrite of Zak Penn‘s draft. But no screenwriter was ever hired and Norton did a substantial page-one rewrite by himself.

The director went ahead and filmed all the scenes knowing some stuff had to be cut to fit into the time limit given to them by the studio. Marvel decided they wanted make a shorter, more action-packed cut of the film, discarding a lot of the character development pieces that Norton had brought to the screenplay. Norton wasn't happy about the cuts and it made a rift between him and Marvel.

He never had a multi-picture deal like the other actors in the film and they just decided to get someone new after Norton had problems with how his alterations to the script were handled during editing.

So has Hasbro.

You're probably too young to know this but for the first few years, Hasbro was bombarded with complaints about how shitty their figures were to Toy Biz's.

Both companies have had bad figures.

Is he not just using their old exclusive UPC? Might just be a bunch of Daredevils or Antmans. Which, if they're to be taken as an indicator, mean Namor will be easy to get within a month or so.

The value of british pound will continue to drop, making everything more expensive.

Travelling within eu becomes harder.

If they want to keep trade deals, they can't block immigrants, at least on the level they want.

Imports and exports will have new customs payments and procedures.

Btitain might lose big business (banking and f inance, amazon and other big online retailers) thanks to this and increase unemployment.

No one wins.Especially the millenials lose. The brits thought it would immediately get rid of immigrants. That is not going to happen.

Thinking of getting back into Marvel Legends, sold pretty much my whole collection two years ago. Recently saw Venom so I snagged him to go with my ML Carnage(only kept him and Baron Zemo). Thinking of trying to grab Taskmaster since he's one of my fav characters, he any good? Also are there any newer ML figures you guys would say are must haves? Not looking to get whole waves, just good figures here and there. Probably not gonna get any movieverse stuff either.

Taskmaster's nice. He comes with a bunch of stuff and has a couple of pretty nice things going on like dedicated ankle rotation. He suffers from the loose hips and ab crunch a lot of buckycap torsos do, though.

As far as must haves, I'd say ghost rider, maybe bulldozer if he's your thing, and one of the pizza spidey bodies, so him/scarlet spider/2099/spider-carnage yadda yadda. Maybe storm too, but good luck with that.
