/toy/ can any of you recommend a good Swamp Thing statue or figure? Preferably full body, doesn't have to be articulated or anything just well made. Thanks!

The SDCC exclusive is the way to go. It's a little under 10inches tall and other than the leg articulation it's great.

>>
Well now, this is a coincidence, I just got a boatload of the cartoon toyline's figures in. While >>5749990 is very nice, it has rubber flesh that cracks as time goes on, even says so in the article linked. There's a few others, the DC Collectibles line having probably two of the nicer ones(New 52 and Dark), but let me talk a bit about the toyline I've dived back into, made by Kenner.
>>
>>5750003
To start, I'll just go with the two favorites, Snap Up Swamp Thing and Snare Arm Swamp Thing.

The better of the two is probably Snap Up, as his gimmick caused him to have the most articulation of the group, though it's all string connections. Basically, pull him apart and flop him on the table so he looks like just any old pile of swamp dross, then press the button and he springs together into one piece again, ready to take up his rather crappy weapon of a hollow log with finger-flick vine 'snare'.

Snare Arm is the runner up because he's got the good ole bionic commando arm gimmick, where you can stretch it out and then real back whatever you latch his grubby hand on by squeezing his legs together. He also comes with a little trap that's a pretty nicely detailed, basic design, basically flip the upper 'jaw' up and there's a leafy 'tongue' that brings the 'jaw' down again should you press on it. No spring in it though, so it's a little weak, just looks good.

>>5750020
Third place goes to Capture Swamp Thing, seen here with a shield(I think that's what it is) that's actually from Climbing Swamp Thing, but the mace is his. A redeco of Snare Arm, he's got a cloth net that ties around his upper arm and you hook the other side onto the figure's hand, that way you can wrap another figure in it and trap them close when you activate the gimmick

>>5750027
Climbing Swamp Thing's got a much different body compared to the first three, being more bark than greenery. Comes with a jawed/boned scythe, that shield in the previous picture, plus a hook with a line. The line is actually tied to his back, passed through his front and back through so that when the line's stretched out, you can hook the loop in front of him on something and pull the hook behind him so it looks like he's climbing up.

>>5750037
Next up is Camouflage Swamp Thing, whose gimmick may not have survived very well. Remember that plethora of toys that used heat-change paintjobs? I think only Hot Wheels still uses it regularly, but here it was used so that a dip in ice cold water turns him 'brown' and hot water/normal temperature leaves him bright green. The weapon is like one of those animal control sticks, pull the string to snare something in the loop, you have to pull the loop to reset though.

>>5750043
Forgot to mention, Camouflage/Climbing share the same buck. Last of the molds is Bio Glow Swamp Thing. In addition to glow in the dark axe, mace, and mushroom body, squeezing his legs makes him swing the weapons in opposite directions. Not bad, but I'd rather keep the glow and update the articulation, though you can still move the arms and legs like normal hinge joints
>>
>>5750020

I'm going to stop you before you even finish, the glow in the dark Swamp Thing is the best. Maybe Snare arm as a close #2, but Glow Swamp Thing all the way.

Now, in addition to Swamp Thing and two allies, the line had the Evil Unmen, 5 PoA figures with monster masks and a few accessories amongst them, one of which is Dr. Deemo with, I assume, a Swamp Thing Voodoo doll
>>
>>5750048
>mushroom body

you mean cactus
>>
>>5750058
Now, as I mentioned before, DC Collectibles has some options, the newer being pic related from Justice League Dark

The older one is New 52. I've no idea how these two are.
>>5750056
I'm a sucker for articulation, even if it's only slightly more, but he is nice. Also, sorry, >>5750060 is right, it is cactus, for some reason.
>>
>>5750003
>it has rubber flesh that cracks as time goes on, even says so in the article linked
And yet I've never seen anyone post pics of the actual manufactured one sporting any cracks, just the prototype from the promo sporting cracks in the wrist. I kind of wonder if it was all worry with no actual danger.
>>
>>5750003
>>5750072
I've had one for over two years now, displayed only, in a case and I don't see any signs of cracking.
>>
>>5750071
I have this one and I think it's fucking sick
>>
>>5750089
>displayed only
That makes sense, it would probably start tearing at the 5-10 year marks though, if the stress on the rubber's high enough. But it will fail.

I'm surprised the previous anon didn't mention these, but DC Direct made a Swampy way back in the 90's. It was one of the first action figures the company made, and it's based on a statue from about the same time. The articulation is limited, but it does look cool if you just want it for display. You can also give him alt flower hands.

There's also a Glow in the Dark version of this figure.

>>5750137
Didn't know about it, but thanks for telling us. I figured there'd been something beyond it, he's a great design overall.

Damn these are cool. Not even a swamp thing fan and I want them.

Also props to the anon who posted all the other figures

KennerAnon here, tossed the ones I got on a shelf. Surprised by how much I like them like this.
>>
>>5750235
Wow.. I really want these now
>>
OP here. Wow I.... I love you guys.

I had every single one of those action figures as a kid, bath time was epic thanks for bringing up fond memories too.
>>
>>5750317
No worries. I literally just got them in today, along with a couple of Unmen and the Transducer playset(perfect for Kaijin transformation sequences).
>>
>>5750235
I had many of the Swamp Thing Kenner figs as a kid, they were really awesome stuff. The snare arm was my favorite of them. All the Un-Men were really great too, with the 'bio-masks' being really fun. I also had the playset with a foam opening- you put Swampy on this elevator and he 'rises' up from the swamp.

And all ya'll niggers need to check this out.

DC Collectibles is also releasing an Icons based on the early Vertigo comics but he's a bit thinner and not as ornate as some may prefer.

>>5750072
>>5750089
Mine hasn't started cracking yet but one issue it does have is with the top layers of paint literally rolling up and falling off, especially on the arms and back of the neck for some reason.

I'd be in for this if it came with a bunch of attachments to make his limbs/body larger. This one looks like it's based off of the original concept sketch by Bernie Wrightson.

ive had mine with the rest of my figures, dust maybe but no cracks - two years? i think its two years since i got him. Best Swamp Thing figure

I briefly had that set as a kid. My father got it for me and when I showed it to my mother when I brought it over (divorced parents, mother had custody) my mother confiscated it and threw it out because it looked 'too evil'.
>>
>>5750873
Just like pretty much the entirety of the Icons line, it looks so uninspired and bland.

I really love the character of Swamp Thing since I was young, even before seeing the figures saw the TV real live series and eventually could read the writings comics by Alan Moore, is definitely a character that deserves that make an movie or the less consider for the future of Warner / DC entertaiment

Swampt Thing is essentially a shapeshifter, he can be the size of a mitochondrial cell to the same coverage around the plant ecosystem in the world, damn, Moore deepened the character in a way that made him able to travel to other worlds through the "green" in any shape while retained his consciousness, how to fight someone that can grow in your intestinal flora?
>>
>>5751006
It's more that at $28 it should have some more accessories. What it,comes with is pretty shitty compared to others in the line. I'll hold out for a different version of him from the Icons line.
>>
>>5750027
Does his arm go as far as Snare Arm?
>>
>>5751849
Indeed, they're exactly the same mold, just different plastic/paint. You can remove the net entirely from Capture if you want and that'd be it.
>>5751141
Much as I agree that Swamp Thing deserves a proper movie and/or series, I don't trust WB with handling it, considering how badly they've mismanaged their property.
>>5750991
That's a shame, it really is a fun set for what it is, Kenner did some great work when they were around. It's even got special levers in case you somehow manage to get something stuck so you can fix it. I'd show mine off, but I've gotta figure out something to do with the stickers that are so old that even just taking them off the sheet they've got no stick left to them.
>>
>>5751811
>What it,comes with is pretty shitty compared to others in the line

No it isnt
>>
>>5751943
Disagree.

He's $7 more than Batman and has an equivalent number of accessories. He's $3 more than GL who has many more accessories (even though his accessories are dumb, he still has a bunch at least plastic amount-wise).

DCC gives us a near perfect Swamp Thing and people don't think it's good?

geez, /toy/ has more moviecasuals than /tv/ does when it comes to comic book characters.
>>
>>5752044
$28 is the new baseline price for Icons, though. If they were to re-release Batman today, he'd be $28. Your point is still valid, that he is sorely lacking in accessories for a $28 toy, but it needs the adjusted prices for proper perspective and comparison.

I hated that the two were so entwined because I liked Animal Man (those first few issues were the best since Morrison IMO) but wasn't fond of what they were doing with Swamp Thing. Dropped Animal Man as soon as it became purely about finding Swamp Thing for whatever reason
>>
>>5750340
I had that playset but used it for xmen or aliens or other toys.
