Retools keep the lines alive, Xeno warriors and Pred bodies have been retooled to hell and back.

But that's what the Ultimates are matey, it's true that the line is pretty much done for and it hurts, but I want to believe that if a miracle happens and Ultimate Gipsy sells well they might take a final stretch and do Crimson.

I noticed this too when I picked him up and compared it to the reviews on youtube, which most were posted three months ago. I also noticed that the translucent orange seems a little paler, the gold arm armor was a different shade of gold and the blood splatter on said armor had a more orange tint to it. No idea why they chose that type of gold for the arm armor, unless it had to do with it being a softer plastic because the gold paint they used for the sandals/boots is much nicer.

Other than those few minor coloring nitpicks, it's a fantastic figure. I would've liked some updated flame effects for the swords though.

The blades appear more translucent and paler in comparison because the dark orange effect around the edges of the blades is no longer present...

I was able to directly compare them last night. The gold on the new one was the same with only the dark wash that was applied being a little lighter, thus making the gold appear "brighter"

Blood was the same in comparison on the two different kratos I have.

I thought Hot Toy's fantasy tiddies armor was blatant pandering to virgin fuccbois and way out of character for Machiko. She was an intense, calm, and no-nonsense warrior. I think she'd be much more given to a more intelligent armor design that would help protect from the bugs' acidic blood, like this pic. Not to mention, she's supposed to be rather short and petite, but the Hot Toys version is some leggy caucasian goddess. This isn't entirely Hot Toys' fault, for some reason many artists drew her this way too, disregarding the original source material.

Call me pedantic if you want, but I loved the old AvP trade and Machiko's character, and have been frustrated ever since with how artists and sculptors portray her.

More like every artist after Norwood's run seemed to lack the ability to draw Asians, so they all drew Machiko Noguchi, a Japanese woman, as a leggy, buxom, sexy white woman (as was the trend in comics at the time). Fuck that shit.

The comics industry in the US was and is dominated by mary sue titty monsters. Machiko (at least in the original run) was a breath of fresh air, a realistic character who was sensible and tough and felt believable. It sucks that they couldn't let that be. It's a smart move if you actually think about it, they sell this ultimate, people like the chainsaw, but buy it anyway, people might even buy older Ash figures just to get the Chainsaw (as Randy already said on Twitter about how "there are other ways to get the chainsaw"), they sell it well, sell a few extra figures from older series then tell the public that the line is going so well that they will make more, later they announce another Ultimate version, this time with the Chainsaw, people who didn't got the first Ultimate finally buy this one, people who did but didn't had the Chainsaw might buy it too, people with older Ash but not first ultimate buy it and so on... Blam, they sold lots of figures, all because it didn't had an accessory.

Chainsaw Ash is one figure. At BEST you could include the 'gray hair' stripe from the SDCC exclusive. But otherwise that one is a scene specific toy. This one is more bang for the buck.

Its a TRU exclusive in the US, like every one of these 2-packs they've ever released.

It probably won't even releases until Oct/Nov. So if you plan on preordering, you should probably be looking at TRU's website.

Ideally a background effect part can easily simulate his Ultimate and the orbs floating around him, while translucent arms as detachable parts could also work. But since it's NECA we're talking about I can see how they might have a hard time doing something like that.

The whole point of the Ultimate line was to create one definitive version of a character, hence the "ultimate" moniker. NECA straight up said this on their twitter back when they revealed Ultimate Freddy.
So when they reveal an Ultimate Ash and it's not the most iconic Ash, of course people are going to be upset, and don't argue that Ash with the ripped up shirt and the chainsaw hand isn't the most iconic because if you really believe that you're fucking retarded. pic related.

And then not only that, the only way we'll actually get the most iconic version of Ash, is if enough people buy this first one. But if the line is meant to be able to have one definitive version of a figure, why do I have to by 2? Why not just make the one people actually wanted in the first place?
Don't answer that, I know why, NECA's a business, they gotta make money. I understand, but how many toy collectors/casuals are going to spend $25 to support another figure that might be made. How many people realize thats the situation it is? We do, their twitter followers do, but it's not like 100% of us and them are going to buy it.
