Dinobot is almost too obvious so saying him is almost too easy. Otherwise I'd say Tarantulas, but he, along with Megatron, had better Transmetal bodies. So I'll go with Terrorsaur.

Polar Claw is also one that'd make me go crazy. Along with Wolfang and Cybershark. Going into later stuff, Skyshadow was another huge favorite of mine.

Razorbeast is sort of borderline, he was prominent in the IDW miniseries, but that probably doesn't matter much to Takara. Still he feels like a standout of the non-show toys even beyond the comic appearance. He even had that reference on Fresh Prince.

I could sperg on about ko's and buying used goods along with people being cheap but there is no need to, if the line dies its because no one is showing enough interest, they'll wisen up and shift into more acceptable designs and will only die when there is literally no interest in what's left.

Maybe we'll be lucky enough to see car robots mp's, maybe the line will die when they become essentially generations toys, or worse when (somehow) mp inferno flops because people have become too used to smaller offerings and are disillusioned after mp shockwave, who knows.

I don't think they'd devote a new mold to Tigatron unless the BW figures sold like mind-blowingly well and they decided to do the entire cast. Which I doubt will be the case so I think if they do Tigatron at all it'll be a slight retool of Cheetor.

But the MP line has gotten more and more invested in being super cartoon-accurate over time so it's possible they'll just skip Tigatron altogether because they might think reprinting Cheetor into what's supposed to be a way bigger character is bullshit but also not be in deep enough to give Tigatron a unique toy.

But I think most likely their love of repaints will win out.

The g1 toy was as dark as the 3p's posted, the color doesn't conform to the g1 toy as its waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too light.

What we have needed to be just a tad darker which the stock images did using lighting, I suspect they can't do it due to limitations in plastic tint, as the diecast parts that are painted are more acceptable in tone.

So, therefore I highly suspect it just couldn't be darker unless they paint it, which they won't due to wear and tear+budget

It shows no signs of stopping and we'll probably continue to get the remaining characters eventually along with some redos. Alternators was focussed on just the cars, with the options for other vehicles being nixed early on. The Unicron Trilogy stuff mixed in homages with new stuff, but wasn't meant to be a new line. And the MP line just started covering more than just a handful of G1 bots only a little over 3 years ago. What are these other abandoned G1 lines you speak of?

Funny thing is that's usually done for robot modes in things like Soul of chogokin, but in this case it'd be beast mode.

Maybe no one asked for that specifically, but that was sort of the default "G1" style for years and people got used to it.The toys where as huge an influence as the cartoon on a lot of depictions of the G1 characters. In all fairness, it does work for other Shockwaves, namely the comic versions where he is more monotone and logic obsessed. But cartoon shockwave was more of a dork, really. and that's the more memorable version to me. Shockwave's design is one that's so easy to make into a generic robot that it amazes me how Takara just managed to capture a liveliness to it.

We get a handful of BW/UT figures every 5 years. Wow. Keep in mind they where in lines called "Universe" and "Generations", not classics. I'm sorry you think a 3-5toys every few years threatens the line, but considering we're still getting classics figures, it just goes to show that it hasn't killed the line, huh?

Hate to break it to you, but IDW was in the original Classics line too. Don's Jetfire design was one of the first. Hasbro uses a lot of comic artists to do freelance design for them so there's naturally a lot of crossover. Besides, the original Classics line was helter-skelter as far as looking like they belong together, anyway. Megatron, Starscream, Mirage, and Bubmlebee are all really different from eachother.

There's an odd thing when you think about it; wheeljack hans't been featured in newer cartoons until recently, but then only as a minor character and as a totally different character in Prime. Tracks hasn't been in any at all. Hasbro will keep on homaging and using these characters, but doesn't really try to make them used in modern media outside comics, which is odd when you think about it. No other company lets their characters just sort of drop off like that.

Basically as a late 90's/early 2000's kid, I wouldn't know about those characters had I not gone out of my way to watch G1 or read up on them.

You strike me as a Rip van Winkel kind of fan. The sort that grew up on G1, then drifted away from the late 80's onward, and missed everything in between, until the hype running up in the lead in to the 07 movie(ironically) made you aware of the franchise again and got you collecting. It seems to me that those sort of fans take the most offense to the Bay movies and see it as a huge affront to their childhood.

Where as, those of us who where active in the franchise in the 5-10 years leading up to the Bay movie, had already seen their share of different aesthetics every few years and got used to the franchise reinventing itself every so often. By '07 we had already seen the cyborg aesthetic of the first years of Beast Wars, the bio-organic hybrid look of the Transmetals, and the Todd McFarlane mutant/freak look of the TM2s. Beast Machines gave us the first real examples of nontraditional/abstract and sometimes alien looking robot modes. Transtech never happened, but we where aware of it and how unique the designs where. BW Neo and Car robots/RiD gave us complex transformations laden with alt-mode parts hanging off not unlike the Bayformer designs would have. The Unicron Trilogy toys took things to chunky aesthetics, and then we got some leaks of TF heroes, which was sort of like a proto Animated line with the stylized proportions, but detailing of UT toys. So when we saw the Bay movie designs, we took it i stride, just another example of a line refresh.

Actually all things considered, TF2007 was closer to the basics. Robots in disguise as realistic vehicles; Autobots vs. Decepticons. How is that less fitting to the franchise than something like Pretenders or Beast Wars or Mini-cons?

Because just look at this thread. People freak out over non-traditional designs. Hammerstrike is way more different from G1 Transformers than most bayformers, so how do you think people would react to it if they already dislike bayformers?

IIRC that toy isn't actually very good. The robot mode's arms are kinda gimpy. A shame as I love the design. In fact I love most of the BM designs.

I might buy him, give him a Decepticon emblem and have him as a mutant Sharkticon.

Movie '07 (most of the 07 toys for that matter) aren't that bad in terms of bay aesthetics as most are off model. Hell, Barricade can get some pretty normal proportions (sans the giant hands) if you mod the knees and fanmode the hips
