https://docs.google.com/document/d/1YVt-4sibEMFOU8H484MpB-K6rNla5SIYdHZG8lyCHLQ/edit?usp=sharing

June Challenges:
>Build a minifigure of a Star Wars character that doesn't already have one.
>Build a robot command centre. You figure out what it's supposed to be a robot or command them!
>Build something that's mostly Lego but uses some third party/off brand pieces.
>Build a brick-built wheelchair that looks better than the one in 60134.
>Build something based off of another anon's MOC.
>Fenimiminismninimism- Give your female figs something BADASS to ride around in! Bonus points for minidolls.
>Make a Fighting arena for your two most badass minifigs!
>Home Sweet Home - In honor of Captain Rex's AT-TE, rebuild a vehicle into a mobile home for your favorite figs.
>Build a shrine or alter.
>June Bride. Set up an impromptu wedding between your sig fig and another fig, or your waifig/husbafig and another. Bonus points for celebrity guests, full musical acts and ultimate points for treating her/him like a princess/prince with a "fairytale wedding" (fancier the better).

Summer's here, at least in the parts of the world that matter, and you know what that means!

No, not an endless swarm of trolling newfags. I mean, yes, it means that, but it also means

THE GREAT LEGO QUEST SUMMER SPOOKY GIRL GIVEAWAY CONTEST!

Everyone in the Lego General has the chance to win their very own mint-in-bag Spooky Girl! Just take a picture of a summer-related MOC (with timestamp) and post it in this thread along with an email. Once ten people have entered, the one that makes me laugh the most will win a free Spooky Girl!

This contest is open to everyone in the world, but it ends June 15, so hurry up!
>>
Is the anon who was making the modular bobs burgers building still here because I would love to see any updates done to it.

>A Mysterious TIE Fighter variant that for some reason is never seen afterwards
To be fair, Lego also did TIE Crawler a while back.
>>
>>5707471
I was being more critical of the source material (Rogue One) than I was of Lego. Lego can only work with what Star Wars gives them, after all.

Plus the TIE Crawler is kinda neat, this is just like a TIE Glider, and I'm sorry but gliders will never be cool. Tie a string to this bitch and it's a TIE Kite. Look, they're even at the beach, the weather is perfect for flying kites.

And thats a scary thought.

It either means A: He isnt going to be in the movie as much as thy are hyping him to be.

Or B: He is going to be in it in a way that we are not expecting and they have to hide that fact.

As far as I can tell, he has only been in the suit a handful of years. Could he possibly be in only PART of the suit in this movie? Like, will he go helmetless maybe for some of it? Otherwise, I dont see why they either wouldnt include him or save him for later (especially since the other big bad admiral guy is in this first wave it seems.)
>>
>>5707831
He's probably going to be the "Spiderman" of this movie and be teased in the second trailer to build hype for casuals.

The last ten minutes lead directly into Episode IV so it's most likely Vader chasing down Leia, which means he's most likely somewhere else in the movie.
>>
>>5707834
I still hold the tiniest hope that Ahsoka makes an appearance, maybe her final duel, holds off vader long enough so the survivor(s) can get the plans out. Even dies in a blaze of glory against her old master type of situation.

But this is modern SW, so we cant show any of the established races because reasons, so no Twi'leks or Togrutas....
>>
>>5707834
Also, its not like they have been hiding that he is in it, they released that info early as fuck. Even normies should know by now.

Googling around shows a few people have tried making the Sonic Phantom, but the hardest part seems to be getting the angle of the front end right and still keeping the stripes and the side curves.

You could always go for the boxier GP Legend version, I guess; lots of the renders in that game are boxier/less detailed than the X or GX cars.

I don't have much cash, since I'm poor, and I'm also repaying a $500 airline ticket to San Diego because I wanted to visit family, who is awesome enough to take me to Legoland.

What the fuck do I do?
Do I go for fountain with random sets, or skip fountain and get Nexo Knights, or fuck everything and blow my load when I get to Legoland?

My second set after coming out of my dark ages.

It really is scary to think about. Force Friday last year was the beginning of my new foray into lego, mostly because my gf who is older never did lego when she was a kid, and after watching me build my first order tie fighter and then seeing one of the city camper vans, she got into it. Since then we have probably dropped like 10 grand plus on lego in the space of less than a year. Out of all my neet autistic hobbies, lego is the one that hooked her. Only problem now is space.....especially since after seeing jangs city setup and the train dude with the setup that goes through his house into his yard, she wants to go full diorama mode with it.

Tomorrow she is ordewring one of her initial dream sets, the VW camper. She is even looking into the lighting kits for it.

Lego is a crazy thing, so simple. Plastic bricks that lock together. Yet it can bring people closer or even split them apart over simple disagreements ("I like CLASSIC sets!" "NO, fuck you fag, modern is where its at!"), it can inspire the greatest levels of creativity, or even just keep someone calm when they are stressed.

A timeless toy and a timeless hobby. In the year 3016, hopefully, people will be playing with interlocking bricks, designing the simplest things or the most complicated scientifically sound bits of architecture.

Or just building robot waifus with big tits and fat asses.

It really is insane. Before I got back into lego, my main shit was warhammer. Building, converting, creating things using dangerous tools and chemicals or learning molding techniques using greenstuff and tool sets but ultimately getting priced right out of the hobby. Deep down, that will always be my passion, but the prices with GW have gone so fucking insane that their "elite" sister company, Forgeworld, is almost the cheaper option.

Switched to ABS plastic over GW plasticrack and Forgeworld designer resin, and get a bit more bang for the buck, even if it isnt as detailed (which can be circumvented by clever use of greeblies and heresy.).

Sometimes the minimalist option is a good thing. Hell, in many ways the minimalist option is the BEST thing, depending.

Now the question is, could you make a better bridge than that using bricklink for less money? Factoring in the cost of the minifigs from that set you might want.
>>
>>5709016
Honestly I don't know why did they even bother making that bridge. It still feels expensive as fuck and in the end it doesn't look impressive. I think this is a recurring problem with scaling the dimensions of cars and buildings to minifig size.

For it to look like a really impressive bridge, you would have to go way out of the part count that TLG would be able to handle, and even further out of what the consumer would pay, be if through Lego or trhough cracklink. Same reason why all those Ideas proposals for big vehicles and locations will literally never take off.
Trying to make a building of this size only ramps up the cost of the whole thing with little payoff in my opinion. But as long as the exclusive minifigs manage to justify the sale, I guess they won't even care.

Good

Can you imagine the Nintendo Tax?
Also, keep in mind the majority of the quality of products Nintendo sells state-side compared to the few products that are higher quality, (figma and figurearts.) The majority of products are cheap and it shows that Nintendo is seldom ready to shell out a large investment for products to sell. (That aren't videogames of course.) With all of that in mind, the sheer amount they would need to invest in a Lego line of products probably doesn't interest them at all, especially considering they went Megablox anyway.

It would be cool, but I think it's extremely unlikely at this time.

Makuta_2015.png
472KB, 493x535px
I've recently gotten back into Bionicle and one thing I've considering MOC-ing lately is a Makuta figure. While I am certain he will receive a figure down the line, it probably won't be of his small, Matoran-esque body. What I'd want is to build myself a display of Ekimu and Makuta in their mask-making days. Currently I got Makuta's mask via my Umarak set.

I'm now weighting two options:
Option A) Ekimu and Makuta are built in Matoran/Protector size. That would mean buying the Mask Maker vs Skull Grinder set. The upside is that Makuta will be small and easy to build by buying pieces online. Under this option I'd consider using a Protector of Earth as a starting point. I've seen Protectors and the Mask Maker vs Skull Grinder still available in some shops.

Option B) Buy the new Ekimu and make them both Toa-sized. A bit less accurate to the design we've seen on Makuta, however and requiring me to build a bigger Makuta (and thus requiring more pieces). Ekimu would also require me to get a solid gold Mask of Creation via bricklink as to make him match his brother. Alternatively perhaps it is possible to dissasemble Toa-sized Ekimu and use maybe most of his pieces to rebuild myself a Protector-sized Ekimu.

So, any ideas? Any input? Its not exactly a hard project by any stretch since that Makuta design is mostly a color swap of his brother.
>>
>>5709676

I rather enjoyed it. Nice simple caste and accessory sets, neat dragon and bad guys. I wish it had gotten a second wave, to be honest.

>>

Sorry, I meant 70400 and 70402.

Was the 70404 Castle modular with 70402 Gatehouse Raid?
>>
>>5709728
I didn't buy much of the line. I was kinda bummed that my dark age meant I missed 2007's Castle theme, and Kingdoms. Compared to those, the 2013 line was just a bit too basic for me to get excited about.
Same thing happened with Space. I was able to catch the tail end of Galaxy Squad, but Space Police 3 was just so much more appealing to me.
>>
>>5709720
Definitely option A, both of them protector-sized. Frankly larger Ekimu looks a bit weird, and likely the same will go for Makuta if you build him in the same style.
>>
How long do you think it'll be until another regular Castle theme comes about? With Nexo Knights to be around for what seems to be a long time, do you think they'll avoid putting another castle-y theme on store shelves with Nexo Knights around?

What sort of horn/whistle/whatever do modern trains have? I just got the highspeed passenger train set and I'm like... Okay, I gave it lights, but there's no sound kits for Lego...
>>
>>5709896
>What sort of horn/whistle/whatever do modern trains have?

The trend with "modern" model trains is digital function. Instead of just wiring, lights and motor, many model trains come with a bare-bones circuit board that can be modified or accept another, fancier circuit board. The three model locomotives I have all took drop-in replacement boards for digital function. The digital boards on a basic level allow you to program everything the locomotive can do, like how fast it accelerates/slows down, individual light activation, and functions to program a set route on your track, provided your switch tracks are also "smart"

Then there's ones that allow for sound, and those do everything the basic ones do, plus sound programming.

A smart enough person could easily modify lego trains to have sound,. I've seen photos of 9v motors modified to have digital control boards. Dunno about Power Functions though, unless you're smart with infrared broadcasting.

Its more like 3rd party custom fig makers are fast. I am willing to bet the weird black stuff near the figures leg in that pic is the watermark. They covered most of it it looks like. This seems to be what the chinks do, they get ahold of either a custom makers fig or at least their render and produce them in bulk.. Pretty nice considering most third party one offs cost quite a bit, I paid around $25 for my spider gwen, and the only other site ive found selling her had three of them left and wanted almost $50 each for them. I ordered one of the pogo versions of gwen for about a dollar so I can compare them and let you guys know about the quality because I know a bunch of people on here said they wanted one when I posted them before.

What version and mode of LDD are you in? If it's the latest and extended, I'd suggest using the new round pauldron pieces from the Star Wars CCBS sets; when combined correctly with nuva parts (not in LDD unfortunately) they can make a relatively large bust.

Other options are simple block/bevel-based cleavage, or if you wish you could use two bionicle sockets, two voodoo balls, two '2 axles, and two hemisphere domes to create semi-posable cleavage.

In your current arrangement, another option I'd suggest is to use two 4x4 domes in an arrangement like pic related. It uses a technic angle connector, axles, and 2x2 cylinder pieces to hold the cups together.

If none of this works, experimenting is always a good option!

A long time has passed since Legend of Chima. The entire world has been modernized. Just as the citizens of the capital city prepare to celebrate president Laval's three hundredth birthday, something evil attacks. You make good vrs bad sets (like animal police chasing robbers that are working for the BBG) and normal city sets (like hotdog cart with a dog selling hotdogs on a hot day). The cartoon follows a young lion detective as he solves crimes to foil the plans of the new bad guys.

The comics went full fucking clickbait SJW bullshit.

Falcon is now the "good" cap, and Rodgers was secretly a Hydra Agent all along. They also threw in Red Skull doing a big speech about how the refugee crisis sucks (saying things that were completely reasonable if you take them as the perspective of someone from that region, which he is), but to make sure no one agrees with him, the next panel has him killing randoms or some shit that people actually WOULDNT agree with.

So yeah, cap is all "HAIL HYDRA!" now....in the comics, anyways.

I don't care what they do in comics I don't read. I didn't care when they turned Cap into a werewolf, or brought Bucky back to life, or killed Cap, or he turned his back on America, or he went under a different identity twenty different times, or any of the other million stupid plot twists that they asspull every year or so.

It's a publicity stunt. They succeeded when they got you to care about their stupid storyline, pro or con.
>>
>>5710245
Fuck you.

Captain America was made for our boys over in europe fighting Hitler. Sure, it was propaganda, maybe no better than anything the germans or the japs were giving their boys. War is bullshit no matter what side you are on, but Cap became much more than just propaganda. He became a symbol of something good in my shit country. For them to now use him as sell-bait, to treat him and what he stands for as such shit to sell more ink....

Some things shouldnt be ignored or forgiven. How would people feel if we did the same with MLK or Ghandi? Or anyone elses hero?

>>5710278
I love how liking ANYTHING or even showing the smallest hint of passion or care for something is automatically autism. Whatever, fine, call me whatever you want, dont care.

And no, I didnt do that and whomever did is a fucking moron. Shit like that never helps these situations, it just encourages the fuckers to be like "SEE? This is why we NEED things like this!". I personally am in the camp of "Vote with your wallets but at the same time dont just stick your head in the sand."

>>
>>5710283
Well I agree with you in part: vote with your wallet; if you don't like it, don't buy it. There's also nothing wrong with being passionate.

At the end of the day, it's just a comic book, and you're comparing a comic book character to MLK. That's autism. Cap's historic relevance to US soldiers has long-since passed. He's a drawing.

In many ways MLKs historic relevance has passed as well. I dont believe he would be happy with a large chunk of his people these days, I definitely think The Boondocks hit the nail on the head with their MLK episode.

But I digress. No use even talking about these things because 50% of the replies will just be contrarian bait or name calling and the other half will just be people mad that the conversation is even happening in the first place.

I was just telling the guy who asked what it was about.....what it was about.

Speaking of the Holy Grail, why did they never make a Grail Temple Indiana Jones set? The action features write themselves.

And don't tell me it was some sort of religious thing, they got away with mentioning both the Grail and the Ark of the Covenant. If they can remove all traces of Nazis, they could remove the Word of God trial, and just make it a generic 'step on the right tile' thing.

You're too young to remember this, but back in the 1990s, Captain America got fed up with how shitty America had become that he gave up the shield and became Nomad for a couple years.
