Can you really blame anyone? The early 2000's were so innocent compared to the shitstorm that is the modern day, although that's probably because we were all kids back then and didn't have to worry about adult problems.

It isn't done yet. While it can basically be done with about 12 pieces, one of them happens to be the Trans-light green crystal shell which only comes with Umarak the Destroyer, so I need to swing by the Lego Shop and buy another one.

So what are your headcanons for 2016 until we get a book/comic/anything to clarify it?

Winter 2015 isn't that bad. Gali and Lewa's masks are a bit iffy, but they're not awful. The only masks that are worse than the Beast ones are the Inika ones and the 2009 ones. I would add the Hordika heads to that, but they're supposed to be awful.

Are the rest of the 2016 sets worth getting. I got Tahu, Gali and their respective creatures all the way back in December and liked them a lot but never picked up the rest. The summer sets don't look that good and with the rumors of cancellation i'm unsure whether I want to invest in Gen 2 anymore or not.

Turns out I posted this in the wrong thread. Oh well.

I've recently gotten back into Bionicle and one thing I've considering MOC-ing lately is a Makuta figure. While I am certain he will receive a figure down the line, it probably won't be of his small, Matoran-esque body. What I'd want is to build myself a display of Ekimu and Makuta in their mask-making days. Currently I got Makuta's mask via my Umarak set.

I'm now weighting two options:
Option A) Ekimu and Makuta are built in Matoran/Protector size. That would mean buying the Mask Maker vs Skull Grinder set. The upside is that Makuta will be small and easy to build by buying pieces online. Under this option I'd consider using a Protector of Earth as a starting point. I've seen Protectors and the Mask Maker vs Skull Grinder still available in some shops.

Option B) Buy the new Ekimu and make them both Toa-sized. A bit less accurate to the design we've seen on Makuta, however and requiring me to build a bigger Makuta (and thus requiring more pieces). Ekimu would also require me to get a solid gold Mask of Creation via bricklink as to make him match his brother. Alternatively perhaps it is possible to dissasemble Toa-sized Ekimu and use maybe most of his pieces to rebuild myself a Protector-sized Ekimu.

So, any ideas? Any input? Its not exactly a hard project by any stretch since that Makuta design is mostly a color swap of his brother.

For me its like, assuming the 3 year plan is what it is and they have no reason to extend the line beyond that, G2 will seem like, from a story standpoint, "The Hobbit" to G1's "Lord of the Rings" (the orders are kinda backwards in this analogy but whatever), one is smaller, more straightforward, and a bit more self-contained, while the other is massive in scope and more densely packed with specific details.

If this Vahi connection theory thing has any sort of merit, and G2 does get linked back to G1 in some way, than that may keep it memorable in the overall "Bionicle" experience, but when you follow up a huge story set in a ridiculously massive world with a much smaller scenario, I just dont think it can ever hope to have the same impact.

Not trying to be negative / naysayer, but this has always been something that has bothered me since the reboot was announced.

Who knows? I can't help but feel the next 'big' Bionicle generation is definitely not this one. We can expect at least one more gen down the line, maybe in 5-6 years and if that one has more serious and in-depth world building I can't scratch the feeling that G2 will be see as a transition kind of line, much like how the era between Transformers G1 and Beast Wars is a fuzzy one for Transformers and things had yet to take on the form we see today both for toy design and story.

If you ask my purely personal opinion, the next 'big' Bionicle line will have to be one with a decent (or even good, maybe? We can hope!) cartoon which come out right off the start of the line. The kind of thing the internet like to talk about...before it get utterly swarmed by ultra autistic and weird neckbeard.

That said, G2 has grown on me in both style and esthetics, I just wish it had stuff like the old comics to really bring it to life. The cartoon is a bit meh and come a little too late into the line.

Novel 2 is a side story of the Protectors exploring some tunnels and finishing off Lord of Skull Spiders while also discussing lore and meeting with a female archeologist from the jungle region.

Graphic Novel 2 is a prequel that basically covers the events that led to Makuta making the mask of Ultimate power, it has a lot of worldbuilding like family structure, food, animals, and a detailed explanation of how masks works, it also contains an image of the G2 upper half mask of time.

I can see why Makuta went for mass-mindcontrol, he got fed up with messing it up and being down talked by his brother who only got praise while he got pushed into the shadow of his brother, that'd turn me bitter and mildly insane after a while too.

I really hope Ekimu gets off his high horse by the end of all this and realizes Makuta's downfall was like at like 50% his fault. I mean, the guy has called his brother "EVIL" a few too many times at this point for me to accept that he fully understands.

A lot of people become TRUE assholes because everyone already think they're dicks/creepy/weird/unpleasant. I know we're supposed to see Makuta's jealousy as wrong but from the looks of it, his masks appear to be just as good as those made by his brother.

If anything, Ekimu seems like that tradition-bound asshole while Makuta is just a bit more willing to do things deemed wrong/heretical...consequences be damned.
