Are these better or worse than the Boss Fight HACKS Skeleton?

I found the HACKS skeleton to be a great design, but pretty flimsy. Pose Skeleton puts it to shame.

I wonder if there's a way to add bicep swivel on the Rement skellies. they're sorely missing bicep swivel, I don't understand why they don't make the elbow with similar joints as everything else

I bought my first pose skelly recently, the Gorilla. It's a small and lightweight toy, yet nearly all the joints are ridiculously loose! It can't really even stand up or hold a pose, which is hugely disappointing.

I thought I was disappointed with the few loose joints on my Revo Skelly, but this...this is just a new level of horrible.

>>
>>5712775
>just hope i can get the weapons set, i neet those holding hands

Yeah, they definitely need griping hands.
>>
>>5712787
This. Ive not bothered with pics for a bit because the skelies tip over before I can get a picture of them. The spine just flops over on its own.
>>
Summer is here and heat makes skellies softer. Remember that future floor wax aka pledge with future is your best friend for stiffening those floppy joints. It's action figure viagra.
>>
>>5712787
>>5713075
My Pose Skelly 03 is still fine, I don't know what you guys are doing to yours. In any case, tightening joints is easy.
>>
>>5701083
how big are those skellys? I don't collect them but I'm interested in the room for other figures and it seems like a good size.
>>

around 1/18
>>

>>5718542
Oh shit, i thought these were the mythic legion skeletons. God damn, these are the capsule skeletons by kaiyodo, aren't they?
>>
>>5718549
yup
fucking kaiyodo should just hurry up and rerelease them already, i neep to get the weapon sets for the extra hands and heads
also the seller screwed up address so i gotta go pick up the skellies later
>>
I finally got to mess around with my Kaiyodo skelly and I'm pretty damned impressed. Definitely need to get a set of hands for it.

Seriously, Kaiyodo. Turn this into a trading figure series. The sky is the limit with military themes you can tackle.
>>
>>5719309
Am I the only one who wasn't impressed? I opened up 3 of them from my set I was just disappointed. Their weapons just sit loosely in their hands, the articulation is often wonky in spots, like a certain piece gets to a certain point and moves back to where it started a bit ago (bad explanation, but if you've dealt with many ball pegs, especially on say transformers, you'll get it). Am I missing something? The concept is cool, but one of my pet peeves is weapons that don't properly fit in hands.

So I just grabbed mine, and they're fun little figures. I was talking about the looseness of the guns, and they are, but with a 2 handed pose it at least shouldn't fall out so long as you don't hold them upside down. One handed will be all about balance because the hands are too soft and open to actually grip them.

Nope, no 6 inch low price barebone skeletons for now. Mythic Legions skeletons are molded into their armor- not removable except for shoulder armor. You can get cheap 6" skels during Halloween but only the legs move. Keep an eye on Cryptid Toys. They planned a 6" articulated skel for $25 but they cancelled their Kickstarter

So I just got my Virtruvian HACKS skeleton and I'm not really impressed. He's got a big grey spot on one side of his ribs, the hinge of one knee is bent outward, and his ankles came warped as fuck.
I got a Fight! Dokuroman skeleton yesterday and I think he's great, though his ariculation is iffy in spots.
I love the sculpt of October Toys Deluxe Bone Titan Skeleton, though his articulation isn't bad, it's not what I expected. Also no articulated jaw, boo.
I've had the Pose Skeletons for a while, I don't think it's any news that they're great.

Real pump. I'm not sure how the term "gachapon" got wrangled into the translation, but it certainly isn't a capsule toy.

I think what bothered me about the BFS skeleton is that the plastic feels cheap, and the rib cage is kind of flat. I paid less for the Dokuroman one, and feel better about it. The BFS ones are $15 now, and I just don't think they're worth it, though I may just need to mess with it more. The Pose Skeleton gets points on pure charm.

If you can do it, get the Dokuroman one, and a bottle of Future for the joints.

Yes, I know what you mean. Since the price for V-Hacks skelly just went up to $14.99 and it's still unpainted, I'm not sure about its value compared to Dokuroman. But, in the USA, we can't just walk up to a machine and pump dollar coins into it to get a Dokuroman at its original retail price.

We'd have to buy it thru mail-order and pay sometimes high shipping rates. By the time you balance out the previous scalper price for Dokuroman + shipping, it cost about the same as the V-Hacks skeleton.

V-Hacks skeleton looks better with a paint wash, and any gray spots from the factory will disappear!

Dude, you're soooooo right. Future (now called Pledge Floor Care Finish) works like a charm! Dokuroman used to break apart in the middle every time I touched it, and now it stays together pretty well.

So the last time I bought a Pose Skeleton, it was the 01 type, but rather than getting the proper, modern 01 type with fixed shoulders, I got one of the old types with inwards-bending shoulders. Is there a way to avoid that specifically or did I just get unlucky? I have a Type 03 that's just fine.

Skeletons enjoying some downtime in a bar.
Turns out that the build-it-yourself DIY shadowbox dollhouses are perfect for V-Hacks and Dokuroman skeletons.

The dollhouses have a hinged front, and are only 1/4 the depth of a normal dollhouse. They are more like shadowboxes, but they save a heck of a lot of space.
>>
>>5826191

You mean the knee part needs to be flipped due to an assembly error?
>>
>>5826235
Yeah, that little double-jointed part that contains the actual kneecap. My skelly seems to have one of them installed upside down, that's why it can't kneel. I wrote to BFS, and they referred me to Dave Proctor, but I never got a response from him about what to do.

The dollhouses are 8"(w), 7"(h) and 2.5"(d).

They have a storefront on a hinge, and the inside has just enough furniture and accessories to look 3D. They also have working lighting using LEDs and a AA battery.

Scale is somewhere around 1:18-ish to 1:24-ish. They can look particularly good when you have several different ones lined up, like a walk down a shopping district.

Here's the series:
Wedding dress shop (Cherish a Lifetime)
Tea shop (Dense Feeling Moment)
Coffee shop (Favour Drink) or (Leaf Coffee Shop)
Record store (Disc Shop)
Grocery store (Grocery Store)
Magazine store (Newsstand)
Baby supply store (Lovely Baby Shop)
Tailor shop (Maiden Store)
Nautical supply shop (Seafaring Shop)
Art gallery (Gallery)
Jewelry and handbag shop (Queen Shop)

Skeletons experience a bit of culture shock on their first experience in a record store.
>>
>>5826716
Dude, that worked like a charm! A little dish of boiling water, and I used a nail setter to pop out the 2 pins. Reversed the part, popped the pins back in and Skelly's knee is working and looking great!

Can't believe that I waited 3 weeks (and still waiting) for Boss Fight to just tell me how to do this! Good thing I asked here.

I am visiting japan right now

These guys are common in Gashapon machines right now for 400yen

I now have all of the devgru skellies apart from the gold one, as there are no gold gripping hands to go with him, so cant pose guns with him

The gun gashapons, however are much harder to find, I have scoured akihabara all over and only found one machine with them, it was at akihabara station

(somehow I missed hobby lobby and akihabara gashapon kiaken)

I pulled the special glow in the dark skelly on my first try and the gun gachapon, was disappointing at first thinking it was a mistake and I wanted guns not another skellie but then found out the glow in the dark one is rare and worth 3000yen

Will dump a few pictures

[1/5]
>>
[2/5]

I am not having any issues with posability, perhaps this is because these are the revised ones im collecting? Joints are such are great so far

Happy Birthday Skellie-san
>>
[4/5]

Mp7 is the only non sniper rifle I have pulled, wish I had spent more on the day but thought the guns would be common, went back to same place next day and the machine had gone. Might have to buy some 1/18 guns as I really want an m4 to go with
>>
[5/5]

Apperantly this is (or was if they are being re-issued) a rare pepe

Would sell him for more guns though as once again, no slot for helmet or no glow in the dark gun holding hands to exchange with
>>
>>5718542
I can just go to a game centre or Yodabashi camera and get some.

But they fucking suck. Fall apart at a glance and can't hold a pose.
>>
>>5828696
Cool! I envy you b /c you're in Japan right now! I want to go back!

I'm not sure what you mean "(somehow I missed hobby lobby and akihabara gashapon kiaken)". Was it because you couldn't find the stores? Or was it because you didn't have enough time?

They are kind of hard to find. The streets off of Chuo street (the big, wide main street) are unmarked. If you don't have GPS on your phone, or if your phone doesn't work in Japan, download a map or take a screenshot from Google maps using the hotel's PC.

Kaiyodo Hobby Lobby is really close to the JR Akiba Stn. Store is on the 5th floor.

Gachapon Kaikan is about 1 block south of Suehirocho Stn. In the little street to the west.

Hope you can hit both of those stores before you leave.
>>
>>5828704
I'd say to keep the glow-in-the dark skelly. You could paint the hands from the rifle accessory pack with glow-in-the-dark paint. If it's rare now, it would be even more rare if you sit on it for a year and then sell it.

If you are short of guns, you can always buy Marauder guns and use only one of the hands from the Kaiyodo weapons pack. So two skeletons can share the gripping hands, one gets the right hand and one gets the left?
>>
>>5829072
Yeah, there's nothing particularly special about the Dokuroman guns. Sure, more detailed than your average G.I. Joe heater, but there are plenty of 1:18 firearms out there. Only bought the one I have (#2 HK 416D) gor those sweet, sweet gripping hands.
>>
>>5829081
I don't know about Kaiyodo's decision to use the hard, styrene plastic (like model kits) for their guns. The barrels snap-on the gun bodies, and they seem to be very, very fragile.
I think Marauder uses a more appropriate plastic- it can bend slightly without breaking. And Marauder also has tiny parts, like bullet cartridges and rifle stands that snap-on. Overall, I think Marauder makes better guns that won't break off.

What I mean to say is, considering I sought out every figure store in aki as I am on a figure buying pilgrimage (these skeletons where just a pleasant surprise when I got here), I went into every building that looked like it had figs/ufo/gashapons. I dont know how I missed these two stores considering that.

bought some figures I have wanted for a while

Im in japan for a month, just did Tokyo for 10 days, no in Kyoto and Osaka for 10 days, then back to Tokyo for another 10 days.

So I will hit up those two shops when im back (thanks for directions) and also just found out about the yodabashi store have a floor dedicated to gashapon
>>5829072
Good Idea never thought of that for the hands, and yea im probably going to sit on it, saw him for sale already in japan for 3200yen, not bad for something i got for 300yen

>>5829081
I think im a bit of a purist and when I collect something I like to keep collections that way. So i would like to keep the guns from the same series, but would consider the marauder guns if I fail to find more from this series.
>>
>>5830094
Cool! You're in Japan for a month?

Since you're still there, I recommend getting some of the Epoch "Interrogation Room" gacha stuff for dioramas. Their 1:18 tables and folding chairs are perfect for Dokuroman and most 4" figures.

You can probably skip the shopping carts, the school desks and schoolbooks, and the luggage carts.

Just went to Michael's Art and Craft. They're already stocking up for Halloween. I saw something new- a "Bag of Skeletons". These are 6" tall (1:12) and seem to be a better sculpt than the original 6" skeletons they had last year and before. Skull has improved, ribcage and collarbone is not so out-of-scale, and the backbone is no longer a separate piece and looks better. Still not very articulated, but can be useful for dioramas or statues.

$7.99. The bag has 6 or 8, I forgot to count them. You can get a 40% off coupon on their website.

Also the skull bracelets are back. The larger skulls are October Toys /Revoltech skelly sized. The smaller skulls are Pose/Dokuroman/V-Hack sized. Always good to have extra skulls on hand for scenery or custom work.

That seems like a bit much, I got a pack of five from rakuten not long ago for 2800 yen (including shipping)
>>
>>5837304
True, but the complete set of 6 Dokuroman from Rakuten was $43.00, while the set of 5 (missing the tan one) was $23.00-ish. It wasn't worth it for me to pay $20 more just to get the tan one, so I went with the 5.

Rakuten (of course) sold out of the 6-set and 5-set quickly, so the ebay set for 646 is not unreasonable, IMHO.

Also, I never saw the Dokutoman guns sets on Rakuten last month. Perhaps the guns sets were not re-released? Maybe Kaiyodo is setting up for the Halloween sets instead of re-releasing the guns?
>>

>so the ebay set for 646 is not unreasonable, IMHO.

Hmmm, I'm not sure of the use/purpose of building cornerstones either. They don't seem to be too useful for diorama purposes. But, as gravestones in a Chinese/Japanese cemetery... that has a LOT of diorama potential!

No one would know the difference unless you can read Japanese...

And I was gonna say... the small skulls can be transplanted onto your choice of 1:18 figure. This one is a GiJoe Cobra Trooper with a head transplant. It's not difficult at all. Fill the hole on top of the skull. Open the GiJoe figure and remove the head+neckplug. Saw off the head. Drill a hole into the neckplug and put a wood dowel into it. Then insert and glue the new skull head.

Clean up the mold line and touch up the paint job.

Great way of making a bunch of modern skull troopers, or space troopers, etc.

>>5838327
The cornerstone (or foundation stone) concept is derived from the first stone set in the construction of a masonry foundation, important since all other stones will be set in reference to this stone, thus determining the position of the entire structure.

Over time a cornerstone became a ceremonial masonry stone, or replica, set in a prominent location on the outside of a building, with an inscription on the stone indicating the construction dates of the building and the names of architect, builder, and other significant individuals. The rite of laying a cornerstone is an important cultural component of eastern architecture and metaphorically in sacred architecture generally. There are six references to cornerstones in both the Old and New Testaments.

Some cornerstones include time capsules from, or engravings commemorating, the time a particular building was built.

Hey, what are the skeletons doing to that girl?

And where did the girl come from? Japanese toy line of some kind?
>>
>>5849044
Just buy one! At this time of year, a lot of stores are stocking Halloween skellys. You can get cheap-ass ones for $1-$3, but I recommend getting a *good* one for a start. Then you'll never look back.

Amazon has better prices than ebay for a Rement Pose skeleton... about $7-$8, incl shipping from Japan. The next price tier for a good skeleton is $15 for an October Toys skelly or a Boss Fight Hacks skelly.
>>
We need a reissue for the revoltech Skeleton desperately!
>>
>>5852515
Different Anon, but I too had that figure at one point. Yeah, it's Japanese, but the name of the series escapes me. It was one of those fighting girl de jour series that comes and goes. Came out about ten years ago.

>>5852526

Could get one of the Dokuroman skeletons from DioWarriors. Better than October Toys', and arguably better than Boss Fight's. I agree on buying SOME kind of skeleton, though.
>>
>>5852703
And I just recalled the series. Tenjho Tenge.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/K-M-Kaiyodo-Tenjho-Tenjo-Tenge-Part-2-Gashapon-Set-of-5-Action-Figure-Sexy-anime-/201625457577?hash=item2ef1d053a9:g:4rkAAOSwmmxW5fwA
>>
>>5852703
Yah, I get where you're coming from. It's just that Diowarriors wants $10 for a Dokuroman skelly + postage, and unless you want to buy a bottle of Pledge Floor Care (explaining to your significant other or roomie that "we need to mop the floors!"), Dokuroman would be frustrating for a skelly newbie.

For someone who's new to toy skeletons, I think Rement Pose skelly or October Toys is a better starting point. They're fun, and they move very well and aren't frustrating as hell.

The new price of V-Hacks would give someone pause... especially since you cab buy TWO Pose skellys for the price of one V-Hacks.

Don't get me wrong... Dokuroman has its charms, and I like 'em, but I like the sturdiness and more reliable joints of Rement Pose, October Toys and V-Hacks better.

>>5852960
Definitely all valid points. A pair of Pose skellys would be a great starting point.

>>5853413
No problem. I had to sift through a list of fighting girl anime to bring that one back to mind.
>>
>>5853953
You know, just thinking... Rement already has the recipe to kick major ass in the toy world. Where else can you get a completely posable skeleton with great joints that's well-molded (no flash), has a paint wash and is very, very reasonably priced?

Suppose they decided to compete in the action figure market? Increased the size of the torso and the limbs so it has adult proportions? Suppose they charge only $9 for those? That would blow BFS and their $15 skellys out of the water.

And, instead of wasting time, money and resources on a *gorilla* skeleton (groan), suppose Rement made a 5.75" or 6" human skeleton for, say $15? Action figure fans would go nuts and Rement wouldn't be able to keep them in stock! People would buy armies of those and they'd be swimming in money.
