This is a thread for toys and merchandise, and there really isn't much worthwhile Ultraman product being put out these days. Kamen Rider gets much more collector level stuff in comparison.

It'll change when the Figuarts Ultraman comes out in a couple of months and people will be excited to see how it is. I'm looking forward to doing some goofy shit with the building effects.

On that note, though, are the 1.0 Ultra-Acts pretty much Figuarts sized? If so then I'd probably like to pick up that Belial that's been teasing me for so long but I couldn't bring myself to get because he'd be too short to be next to Zero.

It's an unfortunate side effect to putting a metallic pigment over a silver base. The silver will begin to bleed through as the red pigment sets in to the plastic and just naturally fades with time.

It's more noticeable on reds, greens and blues than any other colors

Try Mebius or Tiga next. Mebius has even more references because it's an anniversary show, but it's not really an issue and it gives you a taste of Showa. Mebius/Mirai is also really moe, if you're into that.

I'm pissed because I bit the bait when they reissued renewal Ultra-Act Ultraman but got a figure with fucking floppy thigh joint right out of the box. I'm actually a Kamen Rider fan who loved the very first Ultraman because it's what I grew up with, so I figured, might as well grab that.

yup, I'm a SIC guy who... really, stopped buying SICs too cause Takeya left it for a bit and I wasn't liking any of the newer ones other than Super 1, ZX and the 2 delicious SIC Shin's.

Then I got an ultra-act, missed the boat on shf black black rx and zo (my fav), figured that's my fav Ultraman other than Tiga and 7, so will bite as a test for shf. Turned out to be shit qc, I hesitated on Black RX shf but gave in and was surprised at just how much better it was.

Is SHF Kiwami Gaim any good? I've heard of the fruits basketto sticker on the inside of the chest coming off, but is it overall solid? I want to finish Gaim's main three forms before going into the form changes.

I remember a few people posting about QC problems besides the sticker when it came out. To clarify the sticker issue though, it's not that it was falling off, it's that it was poorly planned and the results were frequently poorly applied and visibly wrinkly. The sticker actually holds on quite well.
Mine has a slightly wrinkled sticker and some paint errors on the large special weapon that required a little touch up. Besides that though, the figure *IS* pretty nice: good paint overall and nice details.

What Ultraman did you get? 1.0 or 2.0? Because Eleking/Baltan II are much older releases, and go for 14k and 10k respectively.

If you do get a bad Ultraman (many of his releases are fine), you can always just tighten him up with floor polish or something. The Renewal is only bad in terms of a loose joint or two, and maybe his timer being tight to get out, not this huge floppy mess.
And hell, since you collect SICs, you probably have had to tighten joints before, since SIC joints get floppy fairly quickly.

The sticker issues were one of the reasons I was quite pleased the Type Formula SHF came with a decal sheet for us to put them on ourselves. For a figure that cost around 5000 yen, it sucks that you had to do them yourself, but at least it wasn't messed up oob.

I noticed a problem with my Specter Figuart not being able to do ab crunches or torso swivel, because of the connecting piece being stuck on the lower half.

I heated up the plastic and got it moving.

Used to be figuarts and KR roleplay lines, but since October, due to not liking any of the toys/forms in Ghost, my money has been going on Sentai stuff.
After not bothering to buy any Sentai robos, despite watching the franchise for years now, I realise I was a huge fool. These things are great.

I only collect Takeya ones and while they're not poseable, I haven't had a problem with their joints getting loose other than vol 13 Kuuga.

My Apocalypse Zero set, Black/RX, Another RX, Shadowmoon, ZO & Doras, Arashi, Akumaizer set, Shin and 4 armed Shin, Amazon & Jungler, Kikaider 01 are all still as good as new. I did have to apply a coat of something to the die-cast though to prevent oxidation but I forgot what it was. As for classic KR1 and 2, I have the statue-esque ones, so there really is nothing to fix on that. The ones designed and sculpted by Takeya has no problems staying together without maintenance to joints. I've actually had good experience with SIC, but it might also be because I don't really collect the heisei riders, who are mostly designed by Kenji Ando, his sets are the ones with biggest joint problems (Ryuuki series comes to mind).

The Ultraman I got was 2.0 reissue. The joint that flops down is the right handside thigh joint that has a bar-like extension to let it slide out and have extra range. His opposite side shoulder is also loose. Otherwise I enjoyed the sculpt. Do you think the new Ultraman shf will be better qc wise than the Ultra-act?

I only have ZO, renewal Black RX and renewal Shadowmoon for shf so while those have been good to me, I don't know how the usual releases are.

I don't have the older SIC sets so I can't speak for 'em, but SICs tend to get floppy joints after gradual fucking around with due to the actual material of the joints. I wish Bandai would quit with it and just use POM or whatever they use with Figuarts/Ultra-acts/RDs/etc, but I don't really buy SICs anymore so whatever.
I was considering getting that pachinko Kikaider, but I think I'd rather get the Figuarts Reboot (if Bandai ever plans on releasing him) instead so he can scale better with the Figuarts Hakaider I have...

And yeah, the Figuarts will most likely have better QC. Hell, the Ultra-act reissues/releases that came after him had better QC, so it's not difficult.
